2016-05 W21: Forecasts for Week 21 of 2016

Archive of Week 20 (W20)

We are the end of May and a series of retrogrades including Mercury Retrograde that has been with us for a few weeks (to a few months, depending on which retrograde we are talking about) will be ending.  Jupiter has moved direct, and Mercury Retrograde stations direct now.  Direct movement will be slow, and we will be in the “shadow” for a bit, but now is a good time to start launching truly new projects as opposed to reviewing and resurrecting old ones.

Those old projects either proved to be a good idea “after all” or they did not.  If they are good, stick with them and grow them.  But, if not, put them back on hold or discard them altogether.  The time is at hand to look at new things and new ideas.

The Taurus New Moooon perfected on May 6th, and we have a Full Moon (Sagittarius Moon / Gemini Sun) on May 21st (a day after Sun moves into Gemini).  Let’s be clear: for better or worse, “things” will change with this lunation and the accompanying Mercury direct station.

School is out, and has been out, for most students, and that particular weekend (May 21/22) marks the true beginning of “summer” for anyone who follows the academic year.  But astrological summer, the official beginning of “summer,” does not begin until the Summer Solstice on June 20th (which also has another full moon).  The retrograde station of Chiron on June 27th and direct station of Mars on June 29th will mark another significant shift.  We will cover these events in more detail as they near, but keep in mind these critical dates as you set plans for vacations, trips, meetings, and so forth.

May 2016 (Mars Out)

Week 21 (W21)

Sunday May 15th

Moon joins Jupiter in early morning hours (circa 3 AM CDT) and emphasizes the Grand Earth Trine that dominates the day.  For most people, this is a “feel good” day though earth and water signs benefit most.  Jim Shawvan notes an Opportunity Period for most of the day, and we agree.  Do keep in mind that Mercury is still retrograde (as are several other planets), so either avoid doing anything “too serious” or focus on older “on hold” projects that need to relaunch.  Much CAN be accomplished today, if that is your intent, but you must choose the right projects and keep in mind that some aspects may need to be revisited after Mercury retrograde ends (May 22nd) and possibly later this summer.

Monday May 16th

The opportunity period ends early and Moon is void until half past noon CDT.  Some people see yesterday’s window vanish and wonder “what happened?”  But you are smarter than that because you read these forecasts, right?  You did take complete advantage of yesterday’s window and leave nothing undone until today, didn’t you?

If not, no worry, other windows will open again “some day.”  But “getting things done” is tougher today than Sunday, and today just might have to be a cleanup day.

Tuesday May 17th

We face a decision today, a rather “loose” and open yod that dominates the afternoon.  You must make a decision, and we cannot tell you which path to pick except to pick one and do not look back.  You will be tempted to wonder “what might have been” if you had picked the other path.  Do not waste time doing that; it would not have been any better.

Wednesday May 18th

Accomplish what you can in the early morning; a loose T-Square will give you the “juice” to do that if you can focus yourself.  After a bit past 10 AM the Moon turns void and most of the rest of the day is best spent in review, cleaning house, or as a “day off.”  Do keep in mind that taking a “day off” midweek can be a good idea every so often.

Thursday May 19th

To be frank, this is a rather strange day.  Some people will have rather remarkable opportunities, truly gifts, come to them, but it does require intense work of some kind.  The “work” may be entirely focused on addressing your emotions in certain situations or it may be actual work: doing bookkeeping or conducting an experiment or some other kind of research.  Some people, as well, will be “losers” and this will be a bad day for them.

Health and educational issues will tend to come to the forefront.

This last full day of Taurus has a feeling of “fate” to it for many of us.

Friday May 20th

Sun moves into Gemini early Friday morning, and just in case you did not get the message yesterday, change is afoot.  Things are about to become different, very different, for some people (if they have not already).  The Full Moon is tomorrow (Saturday) and Mercury stations direct on Sunday.  Windows you thought would never close are now gone forever, but others will open.  Such is life.

Saturday May 21st

The Full Moon today gives us a glimpse of the future but with a few pieces missing.  Today is a very important day for some people.  Casual meetings that are supposed to be “fun” turn out to be critically important turning points.  Some people will meet their “life partner” today and it will seem like both and “accident” and “fate” at the same time!  Be assured that universe becomes “unlocked” for some people, and they are able to do certain things that transcend the ordinary.

For others, today will seem massively chaotic and like a day best spent at home.  Fire and air signs tend to prosper; unenlightened variants of earth and water wonder what happened to the window that was open this past Sunday.  Be assured that you will see even more change with tomorrow’s Mercury direct station and the events of next week.

Less than optimistic Sagittarius Moon today

Libra Seeking Balance

winter dawn 500

Usually the Sagittarius Moon brings out the optimist in all of us but running afoul of Neptune and Saturn takes some of the shine off the day. Adding to the lowering atmosphere is a waning Sun-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn and a waxing Sun-Uranus square (exact tomorrow). All of this makes setting priorities challenging due to uncertainties as well as possible miscommunications due to Mercury at a standstill in reverse. Rather than attempting to start something new, focus on completing existing projects before Saturday’s New Moon.

The mantra for today and the rest of this week has to do with taking small, careful steps as if we are walking on icy sidewalks. Thankfully we have a solid Saturn influence to draw on . . . the Capricorn Sun and today’s Moon-Saturn conjunction. Too many obstacles out there we need to navigate around right now. Slow and steady is a winning strategy.

Note: Timing…

Full Moon 2015-11-25 (Kite + Thor’s Hammer)

The upcoming Full Moon has a Kite and a Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist).  This lunation presents and opportunity and a danger.  Here is the chart for the FM, filtered for the Kite:

If you can “keep your cool” as well as avoid dangerous people, then you can have the gift this lunation brings.  It particularly favors Sagittarius and Gemini, but Fire (Leo, Aries) and Air (Aquarius, Libra) will generally benefit.  Most Sagittarians (birthday after November 25th) will benefit most by doing a selfless act of compassion.  Do it without expecting anything in return, and chances are good that you might received an unexpected and unanticipated gift.

Tarot by Cecelia

Full Moons are a time to let go. You have successfully overcome or eliminated something which needed to be done. You will be feeling much freer for having done so. Handle your changes in a businesslike manner. Utilize all of your resources and pay close attention to the details.

Victory awaits you at this Full Moon. You have reassessed your commitments and how much of yourself you are willing to give to others. No longer do you need to feel as though you are defending yourself on a daily basis. Be more carefree. A new beginning is at hand.

Still there is some juggling going on. Some days you find it difficult to go with the flow. The betrayals you have experienced are holding you back a little bit. Remember, not everyone is the same. You are learning to see clearer.

Keep cutting away the old and unnecessary to achieve…

In Pagan and Wiccan tradition, names are given to each full moon, similarly to the naming of the full moons in Native American traditions. In both Wiccan and Paganism the customary name for November’s full moon is the Mourning moon. It is also known in Native American tradition as The Moon When Deer Shed Antlers, because it signifies the time when we shed. We release the past and let go of the baggage weighing us down.

It is a sacred and spiritual transition, navigating the winter months – a dark season that eventually gives way to bright new life come springtime. In old Celtic custom, November was the start of the New Year, and as such, this time was all…

Saturn enters Sagittarius 2015-09-17

This is a popular topic.  Saturn, the planet of tests, trials, and tribulations, is the “planet of good luck” for astrologers.  It brings us clients and website visitors who want to know “what the hell is going on in my life.”  Invariably the answer is found in Saturn.

On September 17th, Saturn enters Sagittarius where it will stay for a few years.  Sadge natives will feel it, but so will Gemini, Virgo, and Pisces.  People born late in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius will begin to have a sense of relief (unless they have some planet near the cusp of entry into Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces).

Here is the chart, filtered for aspects to Saturn:

2015-09-17 Saturn enters Sagittarius

We have noted elsewhere that September the 17th, and the days between the two eclipses this month in general, represents a powerful turning point.  Keep your eyes open for important opportunities, some disguised as “difficulty.”

Of all of the posts on this blog, one about Saturn in Scorpio generated the most comments so far (as of 2015).  We expect either this one or similar posts about Saturn to also generate comments.  We also note others have made entries:

We note that Saturn is in the same “Septile T” configuration that we mentioned previously:

Given the involvement of Chiron and Juno (healing and trust issues), and that Saturn has now entered Sagittarius (courts and the legal system, among others), we can expect to see some important events in the legal system.  This is potentiated by a Thor’s Hammer that is also in play:

Saturn Enters Sagittarius 2014-12-23 (Thor's Hammer)

Juno (trust and betrayal), the Sun, and Astraea (law and the legal system) compose the Thor’s Hammer and emphasize, again, the legal system.

New Moon November 2014

Here is the New Moon chart for November 2014.  At 0 degrees Sagittarius, this NM makes a statement (and it precedes the even stronger statement by the Capricorn NM at the Winter’s Solstice this year).  Here is the basic chart:

New Moon 2014-11-22 (Beginner)

We will leave the discussion of the significance of the NM at 0 degrees Sadge to others and focus on the patterns of aspects instead.

First, if one includes the asteroid Hygeia (health, healing, and healthcare) and the North Node (not a planet but an indicator of “karma” or “work to be done”), the continuing Uranus/Pluto square forms a grand cross (as discussed in an earlier post).  We will not duplicate that post here but instead note that a great deal of “tension” to “get things done” will be felt at this time by many.  Key issues will include unexpected events (Uranus) or hopefully insights regarding healing (Hygeia) and drugs or medications (Pluto, sometimes) and possibly some work that needs to be done involving the relationships between certain people.  (Who?  Only you, dear reader, can answer that based on your situation!)

Here is the same chart, but reduced to emphasize the grand cross in play:

New Moon 2014-11-22 (Beginner, Grand Cross)

Also mentioned previously are the grand trines in play (again, using asteroids), though now they are greatly reduced from when the Moon was in Cancer.  Opportunities are still available, but the window is not as strong as earlier.

New Moon 2014-11-22 (Beginner, Trines)

Tying these two sets of patterns together, we have two “almost” kites:

New Moon 2014-11-22 (Kite, Almost, 1)

[Click to Enlarge]New Moon 2014-11-22 (Kite, Almost, 2)

For someone “willing to do the work,” the payoff can be significant!

We also see the Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist) pattern.  Actually, we see TWO of them, which we call a “Thor’s Hammer Key.”  (We note that all of these use asteroids.  Neither is composed entirely of major planets.)

Some will feel urgency to take action, and this may be rash action that might include violence.  Some things might go “boom.”

New Moon 2014-11-22 (Double Thors Hammer)

[to be continued]

Looking for a “more intuitive” and “less technical” approach?  Try this video:

Once you have watched that video, re-read our analysis and see if it makes more sense!

If nothing else makes sense, then try this: TEST the “News Year’s Resolutions” you have planned for 2015 to see WHAT WORKS starting with this New Moon.  Avoid that same old cycle of unrealistic high hopes on January 1st followed by quitting on the third Monday in January (aka “Blue Monday”).  This is your chance to do something different this year!

And if you are wanting to QUIT something (e.g. smoking), you will want to start “quitting” during the preceding period when the Moon is in Scorpio, especially on the evening of November 21st.  (Dark of the Moon.)

If you are quitting smoking (or anything similar), go park yourself somewhere SAFE and AWAY from your usual environment for (a minimum of) three days (until the Moon is in Capricorn or beyond).  (Instructions only applicable to NM of November 22nd; other NM’s will have different approaches.  If you are trying to stop drugs or alcohol then you may need a medical detox.  Don’t do anything dangerous!)

Other sites discussing this NM:

You may find the Moon “void of course (v/c or voc) dates for November 2014 useful also.  (Please adjust for your time zone.)

Full Moon of October 8th (October 2014 Full Moon)

Here is the astrological chart for the upcoming Full Moon of October 8th, set in Plano TX:

Full Moon October 2014 (Basic)

We see the Moon in Aries opposing the Sun in Libra, which is what we expect at this time of year.  Several things make this FM interesting.  First of all, Pluto in Capricorn squares it, which greatly heightens the tension.  Some of the people born at this time will be quite remarkable, judges, or generals, or maybe serial killers.  If you use asteroids in your interpretations, then we see Hygeia (healthcare and health issues) in Cancer in opposition to Pluto in Capricorn.  I would not be surprised to see HMO’s or some similar kind of healthcare issue pop up in the news.  (We already have the Ebola discussion, but this involves something financial, such as why Big Pharma has not funded much (any?) research on developing a vaccine for Ebola.)

[Update: Thomas Eric Duncan dies on this date (less than two hours after culmination of the full moon), spurring much debate about the healthcare system.  NY Times Article. ]

Another condition that makes this FM interesting is that Mercury is retrograde.  Some things really are “coming to a head” or to a “boiling point” with this FM and some people will decide that “something must be done.”  We may see some kind of important breakthrough about six days after the FM as Mercury moves backwards to conjoin Pallas.  Alan Lin describes Pallas as the “Goddess of Applied Intelligence.”  We may not see a good window to fully apply this breakthrough until after the New Moon and possibly until after Mercury turns direct.

All of that SHOULD be enough, but we note, also, that a Grand Fire Trine is in play: Moon and Uranus together in Aries, Jupiter in Leo, and Mars (and Vesta!) in Sagittarius.  This provides the inspiration to “get things done” but does have the danger of “much talk and no action.”  Whether or not action occurs depends on Pluto (finances) in this case.  If you decide to become enthusiastic about something, pick a project (or projects) that have the resources (money) to actually be done.  Otherwise it will all be much ado about nothing.

Like one of those late night television advertisements, here is where we say “but, wait! That’s not all!”  Remember that rare (and USEFUL!) Quintile Kite that we keep talking about!  Well, that happens the NEXT DAY on October 9th.  Use this surplus of energy (FM, Grand Cross, Grand Trine) on a project that is feasible (Pluto in Capricorn) and funnel those energies into creative solutions (Pallas, Vesta, Quntile Kite).  Solving problems involving healthcare issues are especially favored.  And, keep in mind that you may hit some bumps in the road.  You may not see progress until after the New Moon or even after Mercury makes the Direct Station (October 21st).

Apparently some of you do like the maps (I received some feedback about this).  Keep in mind that what I put up, or say, depends on feedback.  1,000 visitors and no one comments about maps means that no one is interested and I take them down.  (And, yes, that kind of thing can easily happen.  This site sees roughly 12,000 to 13,000 visitors per year currently, so 1,000 visitors can easily come through in a month.  A month with no comments leads me to believe that I do not have much interest in what I am doing and I expend my time and energy elsewhere.)

Here is the U.S. map:

FM 2014 October US Map

This is a very active map, but it only has one noteworthy crossing.  We see lines through Denver, Albuquerque, and Nashville.  Eastern Seaboard is lit up with a complex collection of lines with Boston and Philadelphia particularly affected.  But most interesting of all is the crossing of lines a few hundred miles due east of San Francisco.  If I had to pick an “interesting” place to be (in the U.S.) on this full moon, I would pick San Francisco or more specifically that spot a bit east of there.  Interesting “things” may happen there.  (But, even more interesting, see Trondheim, below.)

Regarding the map of Europe, we first see a Vesta line through the UK, approximately on the border between Scotland and England.  Looks like things there may not be quite settled.  And, since Vesta (THE “warrior goddess”) is involved, and on the Ascendant, we may see the UK become involved (decisively!) in a military action.  What I am saying is that they may decide to strike.  And, if they do become so focused, they will pretty much obliterate the enemy, whoever that is.  (Ouch!)

FM 2014 October Europe Map

Something equally troubling is brewing in Poland (I do not read the news there, so I do not know what), and we see this with the Mars line coming so close to Warsaw.  Lithuania is similarly activated, and we see Austria, Italy, and several other countries “picked up” by this Mars line.  Sun and Moon lines are near Berlin and prominently influence the Czech republic as well.  Not sure how Germany will handle this, but I bet that change is “afoot.”  I think that Germany CAN use this time/energy to make their financial position EVEN STRONGER.  (And, to be sure, they are very strong.)

Even more interesting is how the already powerful financial juggernaut of Norway has a Vesta/Venus crossing!  Wow!  If I could move to Norway and start a career there, then I would be tempted to do just that!  This is really the place to be, maybe even more than Germany.  Trondheim is VERY strong.  (Refer to Map.)  All of Scandinavia is treated quite well by this FM, but Norway is particularly strong (with Sweden very close)!

FM 2014 October Scandinavia Map

(Too bad Trondheim is not a sister city to Plano!)

The complex of lines through Southeast Asia, including Cambodia and Viet Nam, is really too complex to interpret.  This may be the most highly activated area in the world currently, and the unrest could break out into some kind of war, possibly something similar to a civil war.  The instability is really difficult to describe.  Also worrisome is the triple line crossing at the northernmost edges of India and Pakistan.  Involving Chiron (old wounds), Neptune (deception and misunderstanding), and Mars (violence and war), “things” could become very dicey here as well.

FM 2014 October India Map

The Jupiter / Vesta crossing in Eastern Iran indicates some kind of powerful opportunity there for someone who knows how to take advantage of it.  Here is a “zoomed out” map of SE Asia:

FM 2014 October SE Asia Map

Australia is far quieter than these other parts of the world.  However, Sydney and Newcastle may be experiencing some odd kinds of problems with their food supplies this spring.  (This is spring in Australia, and that is probably a good excuse to go visit.)  Perth is also activated, but a Pallas Descendant line is likely to be beneficial: certain individuals (and maybe teams) in Perth has an opportunity to innovate solutions that may not be obvious to others.

Nefrit’s Chart

Reader Nefrit has requested analysis of her natal chart.

Based on the data provided, here is the chart produced in Astrolog:

Nefrit has her Sun in late Scorpio with her Moon in early Pisces; the two are 102 degrees apart,  They are trine by sign but not by degree.  Saturn will trine her Moon in 2013 but not contact her Sun until somewhat later (probably 2014).  She has experienced her first Saturn return and the associated transformation.  Saturn will continue to bring transformation, particularly as it conjuncts Venus and Uranus.  This happened early in her life as well, probably about age 8 to 10 years of age.  Something rather profound likely happened then, such as a divorce of parents, a move to a new city or country, or something else similarly profound.

Particularly interesting is her close relationship between the Sun and Ceres,  Ceres is representative of feast and famine.  Prior to the 20th century, when famine was common, Ceres had a different meaning.  It meant actual famine.  Today, it usually signifies a pattern of preoccupation with weight and weight loss.  Usually it signifies also a pattern of extreme diets followed by a the “rebound” effect of gaining the weight back plus new additional weight.  Nefrit will have to carefully guard against being ensnared by this or a similar pattern.  In a worst case scenario, it could signify an eating disorder such as bulimia.

Mercury, Juno, and Neptune are essentially conjunct near 15 Sagittarius.  Her communications are how she gets things done, but sometimes they are unclear.  Worst case either she or the other party engages in outright deceit.  In her original request, she asked about boyfriends and romance.  Based on this aspect, and her Sun/Moon position, we recommend that she favor partners with water sign Sun/Moon.  However, her current Gemini boyfriend can work.  The issue of communications is important in all relationships, but heightened for her.

Juno, of course, was the jealous wife of ever-philandering Jupiter.  Jupiter cheated on her almost constantly.  Nefrit would benefit from studying the mythology and stories of Juno and how to address those issues.

With a sensitive Pisces Moon, dishonest partners more deeply wound her than others.  The issue with Ceres (and weight / weight loss) compounds the problem.  Uranus and Venus are essentially conjunct, so she may have a predilection for what might be termed “unusual” relationships.  This could range from the May/December variety to GLBT to those that are truly “kinky.”  As I watch Craig Ferguson while I write this, I hear the announcer mentioned “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Sex Toys.”  Is that a coincidence?
We note that the Moon in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer trine the Venus / Uranus duo; this forms a grand water trine making this combination particularly important in her chart.  The Venus / Uranus duo tend to affect both her Moon (her deep internal self) and her career (Jupiter).  Despite a preference for “creative romances,” we suspect that she has a deep yearning for a family (Jupiter in Cancer).  If that is not feasible, she will tend to work in areas that involve water or fluids (shipping by sea, the oil industry) or working with families (possibly social work).

Of course, we are not saying any of this is necessarily “true” in the form described.  Planetary positions and aspects can be expressed in a large variety of ways.  These are just the most obvious interpretations.

We invite her response and clarifications.
