2015-12-27 Moon Opposite Midpoint of Sun / Neptune (Yod)
We do not ordinarily analyze aspects / patterns such as this one. They are too frequent, and as a lone astrologer we do not have the resources or capacity to analyze every one that comes along. This one is different for several reasons. First of all, it represents a logical consequence to the events of the Friday Christmas Full Moon on 2015. Whatever happened then, and then the aftermath of Saturday, we have come to the two decisions of Sunday (Moon in Leo in a Yod with Sun in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces) and Monday (Moon in Leo in a Yod with Venus in Capricorn and Chiron in Pisces). The decisions are similar and may, or may not, overlap in subject matter.
Let us back up a step and note that this decision (yod) occurs in the context of a Grand Fire Trine that covers Sunday, Monday, and, arguably, Tuesday. Moon (self, females in general, families and family leaders (e.g. mothers), and fluids ranging from bodily fluids to oceans) is in Leo (focused leadership, actors in dramas, and sometimes a bit of arrogance). Vesta (tradition and “doing things the way we have always done them”) is in Aries (primal leadership that is sometimes violent). Saturn (test, trials, tribulations, fathers in particular and financial leadership in general) is in Sagittarius (legal system, universities, churches & religious leaders, and foreigh or long distance travel). The Moon (in Leo) person must make a decision, and they are supported by someone who is likely either military or a police officer (and who is dialed into “doing things the way we have always done them”) and someone similar to a lawyer or religious leader who is attuned to practical realities in general and financial realities in particular.
The decision is between Sun (in Capricorn, strongly influence by Saturn in Sagittarius) and Neptune in Pisces (a particularly powerful poet, priest, criminal, or martyr; this could also be a person suffering from an illness). The Capricorn “leg” (or option) is one of safety that risks little danger but also is unsatisfying in that the possibility for something truly brilliant is lost. The Pisces “leg” has potential for beauty, poetry, art, or freedom from confinement (maybe), but it is risky and can be very messy. The decision maker has to pick from one of these, foregoing the other, and is left with some degree of dissatisfaction (“what if” I had gone the other way). Although the Capricorn leg is a bit more aligned with the planets of the Grand Fire Trine, neither leg particularly likes or trusts them. (And, they shouldn’t)
None of this decision making, on Sunday or Monday, will come without challenges. Both days will have decisions (and likely actions) that lead to the conflict of Tuesday December 29th (Mercury Square Mars).
The decision period, as we have ascertained it using one degree orbs for Moon opposing midpoint of Sun / Neptune, begins 2:47 PM CST (3:47 PM EST / 12:47 PM PST / 8:47 PM UTC). The window ends 6:38 PM CST (7:38 PM EST / 4:38 PM PST, after midnight (next day): 12:38 AM UTC for UK/EU). Some “wiggle room” is available, but a failure to decide is, itself, a decision.
Here is the chart for entry into the period, filtered for the yod:

Astraea enters Leo with heavy 5th and 7th Harmonic activity 2015-09-24

Astraea enters Leo with heavy 5th and 7th Harmonic activity 2015-09-24
Astraea enters Leo on September 24th. Associated with law, the legal system, and justice, Astraea should be strong in this sign. Here is the chart, filtered for aspects to Astraea:
What makes this chart particularly interesting is the higher order aspects. 5th Harmonic aspects show two interlaced triangular patterns of quintiles / biquintiles that resemble a “Star of David.” Here is the chart, filtered for those aspects:
Those 5th Harmonic patterns (important choices to be made about creative solutions) are a bit amazing, but also present is a triangular pattern of 7th Harmonic aspects (“karma”):

We hope your awareness is high enough to “do the right thing” when the opportunity presents itself, possibly several of those opportunities, on this rather amazing day.
As an aside, any child born on this day will have truly amazing potential.
May 3, 2015 Full Moon and more

We present the chart for the May 3, 2015 full moon (Scorpio / Taurus) noting a powerful T-Square with Jupiter in play:
This is one of the most complex FM’s to come along in some time. It is also a potentially dangerous one. Taurus can be heartless, and Scorpio is known to be cruel. But, that’s just the tip of the iceberg here. In our review of patterns, we note the presence of two interlocking kites. We believe that this is actually the identification of a new pattern, one we will call the Double Kite Key. (More creative names for it may yet emerge.) To be certain, it is a particularly powerful window of opportunity for some people:
The key to this pattern is Vesta, though nearby Neptune has something to say in a Yod that is also in play. Vesta is all about traditions and home, but we suspect she is acting more like her sister Pallas here, teaching us about preparation to seize an opportunity (and then seizing it). The Full Moon is PART of this pattern, integral to the opportunities here. The issue of safety is paramount in this case, so make certain to keep your doors locked and do what is necessary to stay safe. Here is the Yod that has Neptune at the apex:
The Yod represents a choice between work and play. As is true with all yods, no matter which one you choose you will look back and wish you had taken the other path. But, for now, the smartest path will be the one that involves a bit of hard work. A Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist) is also in play. Here it is:
The Thor’s Hammer gives us energy and simultaneously reminds us to focus rather than explode. Polarization on issues is likely due to a Hele (which tends to form stable alliances) but treachery could be in play due to a Rosetta (which tends to form alliances that do not last). You can find friends to help you accomplish your goals, but you must choose well. A wrong choice could result in an unpleasant surprise. Here is the Hele:
Here is the Rosetta:
Huber Learning Triangles are also present, and they are so abundant here that interpretation is difficult. We think, again, that new patterns can be identified (and named) here and are worthy of note: Here are the HLT 1’s:
Does a larger pattern connect these? We think it might, but leave that interpretation open the the reader. These two HLT’s are connected, we might mention, by the Yod mentioned earlier. Here are the HLT 2’s:
We see three HLT 3’s here, and at least two of the three are interlocking (by the yod mentioned earlier) and could represent a larger pattern (a HLT 3 key?). We suspect anyone born on (or near) this FM may have rather remarkable problem solving abilities (including Royal Babies). Don’t be surprised if this princess becomes a queen someday. Jupiter (in Leo) is highly influential here. We present the HLT 4’s:
All kites (including the ones mentioned earlier) include a grand trine. Actually, two are present in this FM (one water and one air, if you count the North Node), and we present them here as our final chart in this post:
So, prepare for the opportunities, don’t lose your temper (and be alert for those who might), honor your traditions, and seize the opportunity when you see it. And be prepared to learn, to learn much, from these turns of events.

Full Moon for August 2014

Here is the chart for the FM for August of 2014:
Full Moon and New Moon July 2014
July 11, 2014 at 3:38 pm | Posted in 2014, Astrology, Lunations, Weekends | 2 CommentsTags: Astrology, cancer, Capricorn, full moon, FullMoon, Jupiter, Leo, New Moon
Since I am not spending as much time here as I once was, I am putting up the Full Moon for July 2014 (July 12) and New Moon (July 26) in this single blog post. The FM is a Capricorn Moon / Cancer Sun FM. Looking at the positions of Jupiter and Pluto, I would estimate this to be more of a FM to “excess” than others are. People often take unnecessary and foolish risks during the summer, and this FM confirms that this weekend will be a dangerous one for some. New relationships will seem particularly intense, and tensions will run high in existing ones. Here is the FM chart:
Jupiter is very late in Cancer and may, in fact, be void of course. v/c is generally viewed as an unfavorable time; most of the time it is discussed in relation to the Moon because the Moon v/c window occurs every 2 to 3 days. Jupiter v/c occurs about once a year, and this one coincides with a FM. Interesting to an astrologer and almost certainly dangerous in some way.
(We also note Neptune (deception, delusions, mis-steps) in the eighth house (of death and taxes).)
The New Moon is an early Leo NM. This will be a particularly good time for romance, and any new romances from the FM on July 12 that survive this long will have a chance of prospering. Even though it happens in July, this is very much an “August Moon” in many ways. Here is the New Moon chart:
New Moon July 2014 [Click to Enlarge]
[The chart appears to be mislabeled as an FM instead of a NM. Since it has been up for some time now, I am leaving it in the original form.]
We also note that if this is not a night of intense sex then it might be a night of intense power struggles. Or, it could be both. Jupiter has entered Leo by this point, and the “Grand Cross” of the year is over. But, again, the power struggles are not necessarily done. In many ways, this NM with Jupiter in Leo nearby marks the beginning of a new “Post Grand Cross” phase.
Valentine’s Day 2014 Full Moon has a Hard Rectangle
February 1, 2014 at 12:57 am | Posted in Astrology, BadDays, Lunations, Patterns, Predictions, Weekends | 2 CommentsTags: Aquarius, Astrology, full moon, FullMoon, Hard Rectangle, Jupiter, Leo, lunation, Lunations, Pluto, Valentines, Venus
Edit: The last time we had a Valentine’s Day anything like this one was 19 years ago; the next one will not happen for another 19 years. Really, this is a rather unique alignment of the Sun/Moon for this holiday, and the Hard Rectangle makes it even more “interesting.” And, I have to agree with what I have read elsewhere: avoid arguments and disputes with oddball people. After all, if you get in an argument with a crazy person, an observer might not know which one of you is the madman.
Valentine’s Day can be difficult for many of us. If you are not a picture perfect person in a relationship or expecting strong dating opportunities, the holiday can be downright cruel. The Leo / Aquarius Full Moon on Valentines Day this year is part of a “Hard Rectangle,” and we expect to see more squabbles than tranquil moments. (Perhaps “making up” will be good on this date, though.)
The astrology for Valentines Day is a bit “tough” this year.
Here is the chart with the Hard Rectangle identified:
The Jupiter / Pluto opposition is part of this pattern (along with the Leo Moon / Aquarius Sun). Built from semi-squares and sesquiquadrates, many of us will feel agitated. In some cases this could be a dangerous period for some. Here is the full moon chart (set at time of culmination):
Essentially Venus is conjunct Pluto. This CAN be GREAT for “love” and sex. The two are merged. However, a real risk of serious power struggles exists on this date. Only you can decide how to use the energy, but whether used destructively or constructively the energy will be associated with emotions running unusually high on this date.
By 6PM CST (5 PM EST / 8PM PST), the Moon turns void of course for the remainder of the evening. Friday night dates may have a bit of weirdness to them. Blind dates will have unexpected results (the other person is married already, the other person has a quirk that bothers or, (best case) you thought you would hate them but like them; the worst case is you like them but something interrupts it and you never see them again). Planned dates may have things go awry.
The best “dates” will be quiet time if you can achieve it despite the intense energy, or maybe some safe activity that is highly physical but quiet and away from the world. You will have to use you imagination to determine what that might be.

Your info seems to be very accurate so I will love your input on my daughters chart who seems to be very talented. I am an amateur but I seem to see a 2 grand trines & a T-square.
Dec. 10 2002, 1.04PM in Lake Forest IL.
Thank you!Dean from Plano.
We will use Astrolog 5.40 for this chart. Here is the chart:
We see trines between the Piscean Moon and Venus & Mars in Scorpio. A trine also exists between the Piscean Moon and Pallas in Scorpio. Trine to the planets in Scorpio is the Part of Fortune in Cancer. The part of Fortune is a calculated point, and calculated points are not ordinarily part of what is counted as a Grand Trine. So, this chart does not contain a Grand Trine in the traditional sense. However, the combination of planets is very lucky. If her Piscean Moon does not lead her to become the debtor (Pisces is associated with debt), then she has the potential to generate (or marry) significant wealth.
We see no other planets as candidates for a Grand Trine.
Chiron and Mercury are near the Midheaven of the chart and both have been (and will continue to be) visited by Pluto. Pluto in this area is almost certainly the precipitator of the financial / economic shift that began in 2008 (or earlier). This is another indicator of a financial or economic indicator and another indicator of potential wealth. With Chiron here, she may emphasize remedies to the system. The Wounded Healer is also a teacher, and she might become a professor of economics or business with this configuration.
Sun is conjunct Pluto. In the ordinary sense, this is about power struggles (as are her Venus and Mars in Scorpio). Chances are good that she will be considered attractive by many. But, since Pluto rules “other people’s money,” this is another financial indicator. Both are trine to Jupiter (rule of Sagittarius), and Jupiter is located in Leo (leadership).
We hesitate to mention any of this given that she is currently only ten years old. Expectations could be too high too early for her. But, we will conclude by noting that she has remarkable potential.
The Death of Whitney Houston

I was never a fan of Whitney Houston. I did not dislike her; I just was not a fan.
However, I took notice of her. We somehow seemed to be karmicly linked in an inverted pattern: when her life was getting better mine seemed to get worse and vice versa. In recent years, she seemed locked in a downward death spiral. In contrast, my life has been rising and improving on many levels. 2011 was a “banner year” for me; I was not quite surprised when I learned that she died today (technically yesterday, but I have not been to sleep yet).
The entire thing felt very astrological, and I had not posted in a long time. I will not have a window to post again until March or April. So, here is my lone post until I can return.
I note the following ideas which are well documented in the media: (1) she had a significant alcohol / drug problem; (2) she had repeatedly attempted recovery; and (3) we do not (yet) know the cause of death. I draw the following conclusions: (1) she really wanted to be clean & sober but seemed unable to maintain that condition and (2) we do not (yet) know her cause of death. What I am really saying is that, although some may infer drugs, she might have been perfectly clean.
This last idea is not so far-fetched. I have a clear memory of the day that I heard that Waylon Jennings died. I heard it in the early morning, and I think that he died the night or afternoon before. We learned that he had been clean & sober for 10 years, but that diabetes had led to his death. I learned subsequently that this type of death is common among people in recovery: the booze & drugs causes so much damage that diabetes, liver failure, and similar disorders cause a death at an early age. That is a heartbreak. And, maybe that is what happened to Whitney. We’ll find out soon, and I’ll likely edit this post with updates.
Now to the Astrology.
I cast a chart for the moment that I heard of her death. My consistent methodology is to allow the software determine this. That is, I operate on the idea that my idea or realization is not fully manifest until I open a chart of the current date and time.
For my initial analysis, I used this chart as a proxy for time of death. Generally, this chart differs from the death chart mainly (1) by Ascendant and (2) by Lunar position. (Different parts of the country, also, but that is mainly manifest in construction of the Ascendant.) So, just to do a quick analysis, I checked for birth charts from several sources. I settled on http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Houston,_Whitney That chart looks like this:
The Aries and Leo planets, including Sun and Moon, tell us who she was. She was vibrant and sparkling. But, the Pisces ascendant gave her both the ability to touch people’s hearts AND the alcohol and drug problems. For her, those were inseparable. However, the vast majority of us could not see this inner pain and turmoil, even when she documented it in her movie “The Bodyguard.”
I like the list of aspects provided here: http://www.strangehouse.com/option,com_horoscope/year,2012/month,02/day,11/user_id,whitneyhouston
That list shows several things: (1) for her, the phrase “she is now at peace” is very true; if I heard that she “passed in her sleep” then I would not be surprised and (2) some kind of strong emotional issue either came to a head or had come to a head (Moon OPP Moon; transiting Mars square natal Pluto).
I note that she had experienced her fourth Jupiter return. Much discussion has been made of people being carried away by Saturn, but Jupiter can do this as well. Arguably, the life lessons she taught and learned were Jovian in nature: she lived a larger than life personna as dramatized in “The Bodyguard.” That movie illustrated some of the pitfalls of being a “larger than life” personna. After her death, and at the time I received the news, transiting Moon opposed natal Jupiter.
For a more in depth analysis, see this analysis by Jude: http://judecowell.wordpress.com/2012/02/12/whitney-houstons-sad-passing-w-an-astro-note-about-fights-while-married/
A bi-wheel might be helpful. The inner wheel is the birth chart, and the outer is when I received the announcement:
We see from the Bi-Wheel that she also had a 12th house stellium of transiting planets. (These planets were in natal 12th house, the house of self-undoing.)
I know that a fair number of you want the actual death chart. She was pronounced at 3:55 PM PST, but reports say Paramedics found her unresponsive and performed CPR for 20 minutes. Actual time of death could have been earlier. Oddly, an argument could be made for a slightly later time of death (the culmination of opposition of transiting Moon to natal Moon). I note that the same four transiting planets that formed a stellium in her natal chart are in the 8th house (Death House) in this chart.
And, I have this to say: Jupiter is saying that she had completed her mission here. But Chiron disagrees. Chiron says that if she had stayed with us long enough for Chiron to return, she might have finally found that special healing she was looking for. And, in doing so, she had additional lessons to offer all of us, even a self-described non-fan like me. (Click to enlarge)
December 16 & 17, 2008 Windows of Possibilities
December 14, 2008 at 11:22 pm | Posted in Astrology, Predictions | Comments Off on December 16 & 17, 2008 Windows of PossibilitiesTags: Leo, Mars, Mercury, Moon, opportunity, Pluto, Sun, Virgo
Monday is so awful that I thought I’d better write the forecasts for Tuesday & Wednesday now instead of waiting for Monday to do that.
That said, Tuesday offers a superb window of opportunity for most signs but especially fire signs (Aries, Leo, & Sadge). The Air signs (Libra, Aquarius, & Gemini) can cash in on this to a lesser degree. The period starts with a Mars trine about 2pm EST and ends a little after 730pm EST. Obviously, if you are in the UK this is a nice evening to be had.
Salesmen are especially strong on this day, but buyers are ultimately favored. If you aren’t a “fast talker,” then watch out for them. But, do know that you can still come out ahead in a purchase because buyers are favored.
Earth and Water signs get a shot, too, but not until Wednesday. The beneficial period for Earth (Capricorn, Taurus, & Virgo) and (to a lesser degree) Water (Cancer, Scorpio, & Pisces) starts about 5am EST and ends in the early evening.
These reprieves from Monday end on Thursday, when the events of Monday come to revisit us.
Godspeed.

November 19, 2008 at 1:38 am | Posted in Lunations, Predictions | Comments Off on Wednesday November 19, 2008Tags: Aquarius, Leo, Moon, Neptune, scorpio, Sun, VoidOfCourse
At approximately 10AM in the UK, the Moon in Leo will Oppose Neptune in Aquarius. For those of us in the US, we’ll be sleeping and this will help us to dream, perhaps with revelations in our dreams. But for those in London and Paris, this will cause a bit of havoc.
Not to fear, this isn’t a major event but a once a month event. Even so, either confusion will reign or unrealistic notions will take charge. If you chose the “idealistic” path yesterday, instead of the practical, you might get in a little bit to deep at this time. Those who opted to be practical may be irritated by emails bouncing or unclear language on contracts or similar problems.
The rest of the day tends to have a “get things done” quality brought on by Squares. Disagreement will tend to result, but they will lead to action. Please note that by 4:30 EST the Sun will go void for a few days (when Moon enters 4th quarter) followed by the Moon going void for half an hour on each side of 8PM EST.
This particular double void (with a 4th quarter moon!) is a good time to wrapup “things Scorpio,” particular if the “wrapup” is in the form of meditation and visualization. I suppose you could take action, but it should be the “letting go” type of action. If you having been mourning the loss of a loved one, then maybe this is the time to permit yourself to have a reprieve. Think of something new and different you can do that might bring you (okay, I hate to use this term, but….) a quantum of solace.
At least one of my readers is wrestling (metaphorically) with her teenaged daughter. This paragraph is specifically for you. This double void period might be a time where you can finally have that heart to heart you’ve been wanting to have. The important thing is to value the “connectedness” and not depend on what she has to say. She may not yet be able to quite voice her innermost hopes and fears. But, you might be able to reach a point where you acknowledge her “coming of age” in a healing way.
Except for California (PST) and MST, the Moon in Virgo Square Mars in Sadge is a topic for Thursday’s note. You might have a little trouble sleeping, or even a late night quarrel. Defer all til Sunday if you can. The period from now til then is about organizing and researching.
November 18, 2008 A Fork in the Road
November 18, 2008 at 6:21 am | Posted in Astrology, Predictions | Comments Off on November 18, 2008 A Fork in the RoadTags: Capricorn, choices, FingerOfGod, idealistic, Jupiter, Leo, Moon, pisces, practical, prometheus, Uranus, Venus, Yod
Today is all about a “fork in the road.” A Yod, or “finger of God,” exists with the Moon in Leo and the forks shown by Uranus in Pisces and Jupiter & Venus in Capricorn. Leo is about leadership. This day affects leaders more than others, but it also brings out the natural leadership in all of us.
The fork between Pisces and Capricorn will force us to choose between the idalistic and the practical. Uranus (aka Prometheus) is in Pisces and brings us innovations in areas of art, music, poetry, and similar areas. Capricorn is about practicality. Venus is about love & beauty, but Venus is also about finances and building the practical. Venus can be especially about farms. Jupiter is about growth and expansion, in this case in things Capricorn such as large corporations and corporate leadership.
The choice will be between idealistic innovation and practical focused growth. No matter which choice we make we can benefit, but either choice will, at some point, leave us wondering what might have happened had we considered the other path. Inconjuncts, from which yods are built, are characterized by dissatisfaction.
Water Signs: Pisces, Cancer & Scorpio will tend to choose the innovative today. Some Cancerians, particularly those who have birthdays currently opposed by Jupiter or Venus might choose the practical route.
Earth Signs: Capricorn, Taurus, & Virgo will tend to opt for the practical path. Some Virgos might choose the innovative path, particularly if their birthday is currently opposed by Uranus.
Air Signs: Neither Gemini nor Libra will like the choices presented, but Gemini will be most productive with the innovative and Libra with the practical. Aquarius will face both decisions the same as Leo: essentially split 50/50.
Fire Signs: Aries, like leader, would be wise to pick the practical. Leo, like Aquarius, will have a dead center 50/50 choice. “Things” are complicated for Sadge. Except for the handful of Sadge natives born on December 17th or later, I’d recommend the practical. I’d be willing to bet that Steven Spielberg is working on some particularly interesting project at this time.
Choose as you may; tomorrow is a new day.
Summer Solstice 2008
June 20, 2008 at 11:00 am | Posted in Editorial, Predictions, Weekends | 3 CommentsTags: Aquarius, Debt, Financial, FingerOfGod, FullMoon, Leo, Mars, Neptune, Pluto, Sagittarius, Saturn, Sun, Venus, Weekend, Yod
Summer Solstice 2008
If you celebrate the Solstice, chances are that you’ve already done so by the time you read this. For many in the U.S., that celebration was Thursday evening. That is probably true in the UK and Europe as well. Some of you, though, may choose to celebrate this weekend because the gathering of friends, most convenient on a weekend, is more important than gathering slightly BEFORE the event occurs. Frankly, I like that idea in this case. Why?
The reason why is that we’ve all done intense energy work all weekend long. As much as possible, this weekend should be about rest & relaxation. The Aquarian Moon will tend to help with that, and most people will find this to be a pleasant weekend. A few possible “potholes” exist; this forecast will serve to illumine them.
I know some of you want only the “high points” without detailed analysis, so we’ll do those first.
High Points of the Summer Solstice of 2008
1. Have fun this weekend. That is very possible.
2. Watch out for lying and deception this weekend.
3. Watch out for a squabble particularly about money or taxes or fines, particularly on Friday night.
4. Do NOT “loan money” this weekend. Especially watch out for cheats & cons.
5. *DO* have fun with your friends. This is another GREAT “movie weekend.” Consider a sleepover with a ‘movie marathon.’
6. This is a GREAT weekend to spend on the water, possibly at a lake. BUT, this is a very BAD weekend to mix alcohol and boating. (No good weekend for that, but this one is even worse.)
7. Homebodies can get a great deal of cleaning this weekend, and might find old photos from “the good old days” that bring a strong sense of nostalgia. Pay debt.
Now, for the rest of you, on to the “nitty gritty details.”
Analysis by Sign
Aries: You can be very strong this weekend. Watch out for overspending on that nice new toy, and definitely do not create any new debt. Like ALL other signs, don’t loan money. Otherwise, this will be a great weekend for you. Try, though, to be an observer, if you can. You’ll LEARN a bit about others if you do so.
Taurus: Read Aries. You’ll be tempted to buy items for your home, and you’ll get some great buys if (1) you already wanted them and they are NOT something you were “talked into” by the salesperson and (2) you don’t create any new debt. You might not be as thrilled by the movie as some others, but you’ll have fun anyway.
Gemini: You need a break. This was a really busy week. Just relax, and resist ANY temptation to deceive someone. You CAN deceive effectively now, but you don’t want that karma. Watch the movie with your friends.
Cancer: Hold tight to your birthday. Like Aries, you should “watch the show” that others put on for you this weekend. Do *NOT* (did I emphasize that enough?) lend money or create debt. Like Taurus, you might get a nice item for your home.
Leo: Why are you so angry? You need a good workout this weekend. Finances tend to worry you this weekend. Focus instead on the most vigorous exercise you can safely participate in; a punching bag could bring you both physical and emotional relief. Friends are okay, but watch for trickery, possibly from an entire GROUP, maybe a conspiracy of family members against you!
Some of you are starting to enter your “Solar 12th house” and are in danger of “self-undoing.” This is particularly true if your birthday is in July.
Virgo: You find yourself in the job of disciplinarian, especially if you are a parent. You’ll have the job of being the “voice of reason.” You can do this well, but secretly you want to play this weekend with the other boys & girls. Take time to recharge your batteries this weekend. You CAN take a break. Maybe you need a treat.
Libra: Read Aries. Keep in mind that your insights may be especially important to others this weekend. But, don’t offer advice unless asked. Keep your comments short & to the point. Use humor. Have fun.
Scorpio: Read Taurus & Leo. You can get some great buys; use your usual sense of prudence. Don’t beat up on people, though you’ll be tempted. If you are a police officer, then you’ll be busy this weekend. That means you’ll need to stay sober yourself.
Sagittarius: You are ordinarily a nice person, but you really need to watch your temper this weekend. Don’t go off the deep end. Instead, take some time for yourself. This does NOT mean you have to hide and be alone, but it does mean you’d better have some fun. Unlike most others, you’ll probably have a good eye for cheats. No reason you can’t turn the tables on them and have the “last laugh.” In fact, they deserve it for even thinking about taking you on. Go for it, just don’t get mad about it. Laugh instead.
Capricorn: Okay, it is a tough weekend in some ways for you. People seem frivolous and a bit unpredictable. You can still have fun, though, and you might even make a little money if that is your desire. Just make certain it is money coming in rather than money going out. (You’ll be tempted to spend.)
Aquarius: This is *YOUR* weekend. Okay, you’ll have other weekends, too. But this will be an outstanding weekend for some, make that MANY, of you. Please do play. Take nothing seriously. Refuse to believe anything anyone says, probably even including me! 🙂 Your sense of art and proportion are good this weekend, so if you are an artist of some kind then (as Captain Picard would say) “Make it so.” (But don’t incur debt for that purpose.)
Pisces: Yes, you can get your way this weekend. BUT, is it really what you want? If you succumb under pressure to some strong personality, or especially a group of them, and then cheat or deceive someone who could be your best ally, then what will you gain? Think about it. Your ally might be tired of that kind of behavior.
If you are a poker player, you might “clean up” this weekend. (No “markers,” though.)
If you channel that “creativity” of yours in the right direction, then you might have some fun without anyone getting their feelings hurt. Maybe you are the one who needs to organize “sleepover movie night,” but without any grandiose expenditures.
If you do host a party, you’ll be at the center. Do you want to be? (It is okay if you really do.)
The Planetary Players of the Weekend of the Summer Solstice of 2008
Besides the solstice, and the previous planetary events of this week (especially the Full Moon and Mercury Direct Station), three events will color this weekend: (1) Sun Opposite Pluto (which is an “after statement” to the Full Moon Energy); (2) Mars Opposite Neptune; and (3) Venus Sextile Saturn (which requires a LONG discussion). We’ll cover the first one and dispose of that, and then we’ll dive in greater depth into #2 and #3 (together). So, we have Part #1 (Sun Opposite Pluto & the Full Moon Wrapup) and we have Part #2 (Mars Opposite Neptune and the Finger of God).
Sun Opposite Pluto & the Full Moon Wrapup
The first few days of the week, tied to the Full Moon of Wednesday June 18th, will be “wrapped up” by Sun Opposite Pluto on Friday June 20th. Of course, Astrology studies cycles, and one story blends into another. But, this punctuation mark (and that is what this kind of aspect is) comes with the Solstice. Other variants will occur in a new season and be more tightly tied to newer stories to be told. So, what does it mean?
Pluto has returned to the end of Sadge, and that is the key issue here. The final degrees of any sign are said to be “fated degrees,” and these particular degrees are especially associated with deception and theft. All the negative aspects of Sadge will tend to be highlighted at this time: religious extremists, possibly terrorists, murder in the name of God, court rulings that are either wrong or unjust or both, and a sense of “playfulness” applied in very wrong ways. (Do you remember in the original “Highlander” movie where we learned that the Kurgan, and “his tribe, the Kurgans, were infamous for their cruelty, and were known to ‘toss children into pits full of starved dogs, and watch them fight [for the] meat’ for amusement.” THAT is the kind of “playfulness” associated with the END of Sadge. Not pretty.)
Now, that said, the type of PLANET in that space makes a BIG difference. In this case, the planet is PLUTO, ruler of death in general, death by assassination in particular, death by poisoning even more so, and secrets, torture, and a number of other horrible things.
Frankly, myself, I don’t like this combination of planet and place.
One big issue here will be “human rights abuses.” On a smaller scale, it will be injustice. The “mean girls” will tend to win. But, Sun OPPOSING Pltuo may mean that, in some cases, authority figures of some kind may “step in” to halt some of these problems. The Sun can’t really win against Pluto on a long term basis, so the key will be for Pluto to move direct (in a few months) and return to Capricorn. The downside to this will be a profound “belt tightening” in our economy. We’ll already had a taste of this, but it will get stronger. Your mantra should be “no debt.”
If you can’t achieve that, then it should be “no new debt.” If you are in the business of lending money, you shouldn’t take on ANY new risky loans; you can count on them deceiving you now (Pluto Rx in Sadge) and defaulting later (when Pluto returns to Capricorn).
I know some of my readers might be thieves. Yes, this is your weekend. Sigh.
Practically, as an individual, this could lead to power struggles this weekend, particularly over money. Taxes (also Pluto) may be the biggest issues of all. Count on them (taxes) showing up in political dialogs. Like new debt, new taxes should be avoided. They might seem very attractive NOW, but Pluto in Capricorn can make them very ugly later.
One other thing, this particular drama indicates that the solution to human rights abuse in other countries CAN be found in the decisions made by Corporate America (and UK and Europe). The key, of course, will be to give Corporate America “tax incentives” to do things that “encourage” foreign countries to protect human rights. (Maybe that is the approach Amnesty International should use: lobby Congress to give tax incentives to Big Corp. to protect human rights in foreign countries.)
On a small scale for certain readers (you know who you are): you know that Aunt or Uncle who saved money all of their lives and lived very conservatively? The one you never liked but now is in a GREAT position financially while you are worried about FORECLOSURE? You should NOT ask them for a bailout (and deceiving them will cause you painful karma you don’t want to have). But, you SHOULD get their insights and advice and “take your medicine” to clear out the debt & financial problems. If you don’t listen to the Dave Ramsey show, then you should consider doing so.
Like Father’s Day, if you can “avoid the fight,” you’ll probably have a pretty good weekend. But, again, some people will have terrific struggles over money and spending this weekend.
Mars Opposite Neptune and the Finger of God
At this point, I’d like to tell you some great story about Mars Opposite Neptune and how powerful that aspect is. I’d like to discuss how some commentators noted Mars/Neptune activity in the birth chart of Bill Clinton, and how they claimed that this is the REAL reason that he was “Teflon Bill.” (Monica Lewinsky proved that name wrong, though.) That’s what I’d like to tell you.
Instead, I must say that this is an extraordinarily complicated “big planet” configuration that, frankly, might be a little beyond my ability. In addition to Mars Opp Neptune, we have Venus Sextile Saturn. Venus & Saturn are another story entirely. The problem is, Venus & Saturn are NOT playing separately from Mars and Neptune. If they were, analysis would be much easier. In fact, the configuration looks like a huge “peace sign” in the sky, with Neptune “by itself” (not true, but pretend so for the moment) and Mars opposite of it as the “center leg”, with Venus and Saturn forming the right and left legs of the “peace sign.”
Now, I am NOT saying that this configuration will “bring peace.” Sun Opposite Pluto (described above) won’t let it. Actually, Neptune has both the Moon and Chiron as neighbors. All three are in Aquarius, and this metaphorically speaks to the needs and desires of “the people” for healing and dreams of hope. Last weekend we had illusions. This weekend, we HAVE to believe in a “better way,” despite the Evil of Sun Opp Pluto. Primarily Neptune (but also the other planets) form the “Finger of God” that I’ve described before (credit: Stephanie Azaria). The choice seems to be between Venus (in Cancer, the home of the Moon) and Saturn (in Virgo, the home of Mercury and sign of the Earth Mother).
I try to avoid politics, but this weekend seems to speak of how profoundly tired “the people” are of war. Sun Opp Pluto tells us we can make some terrible mistakes with wrong decisions based on poorly thought-out approaches. Regardless, we are tired of war, we are tired of being cheated, and we are tired of the no longer “playful” aspects of Gemini & Sadge. The time has come for a return to the source of our sustenance.
So, you’ll have a choice to make this weekend, and it will almost certainly affect many people around you. Given that you “handle” the power struggle “correctly,” (and this doesn’t mean that you “win” in the ordinary sense of the word), you will have to choose between being a source of sustenance and being a provider of discipline. Neither position is necessarily right or wrong. You’ll have to apply your own sense of discernment, keeping in mind that deception is afoot.
I suppose I should say that, as the weekend progresses, I might “tune” this forecast. Making it stronger will lay a foundation for the forecast for next week, probably to be published on Sunday.
A Short Post About Mercury Turning Direct, June, 2008

Starting “by” the afternoon of Wednesday June 18th, and continuing for a period of time that isn’t fully agreed upon, a bit of turmoil will come into the lives of many people. This is marked by the Direct Station of Mercury on the morning of Thursday, June 19th of 2008. If you had any plans run afoul on Wednesday afternoon or evening, you can chalk that up to the influence of the station following on the heels of the Full Moon (Sun = Gemini / Moon = Sadge). Here is another description of Mercury turning Direct.
This period “cleaning up from the Retrograde” will continue AT LEAST until Saturday or Sunday. For some (many?) the effects of the Mercury Retrograde Period will be felt until July 4th or 5th. After that holiday, time to move “full steam ahead.” In this period, some interesting surprises are to be expected. Cancerians can expect at least a little relief in the form of a bit of unexpected cash from a possibly forgotten source.
Expect a longer entry about this station, along with some discussion of Sun-Pluto Opposition on Friday and the Mars-Neptune Opposition on Saturday. These conflicts pit the strong, direct personality against the powerful personality of hidden secrets as well as the high energy and possible violent personality against the poetic illusionist. Won’t children born on these dates be “interesting”?
Sun-Pluto will especially affect Gemini-Sadge (and, to a lesser degree, Virgo-Pisces), and Mars-Neptune will affect Leo-Aquarius (and, to a lesser degree, Taurus-Scorpio). We’ll dig a little deeper in the next post.
Please check back by Wednesday Evening or Thursday Morning about suggestions regarding how to navigate the period through Monday, June 23, 2008. Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel.
