We start with a version of the chart that specifically focuses on aspects to the Sun. Since the Sun and Moon are precisely aligned in an opposition (a Full Moon is an opposition of the Sun and the Moon), aspects to the Sun are also aspects to the Moon. However, we are showing the Sun to make the point that these aspects are longer lasting, surrounding the FM before and after.

This Full Moon is active (as the previous chart showed). Here are the patterns that are in play here:

  • Grand Trines (a Grand Earth Trine and a Grand Fire Trine)
  • A Kite (and a separate “almost” Kite that we omit)
  • Hard Rectangle (which likely affects Texas and certain other geography but not everyone directly)
  • Thor’s Hammer / God’s Fist
  • Rosettas (which we show) and Heles (which we omit as poorly formed)
  • Square Keys

Our analysis: The grand trines are almost always a sign of opportunity, if we seize it, but a temptation to simply enjoy a “good time,” allowing the gift to pass us by. The Kite emphasizes this moreso, and since the kite is tied to the Moon we know this will not last long, a day or two at most, maybe only a few hours.

A Hard Rectangle appears for the chart set in Plano, and it will affect certain other parts of the United States, also, but since the Midheaven is involved it will be fleeting. Tempers can soar with these, and since Neptune is involved the anger or violence may have alcohol or drugs involved. If no alcohol or drugs, then a person who has been marginalized may go on a rampage.

The Thor’s Hammer patterns further confirms what the Hard Rectangle tells us, and at least one of these is global, not tied necessarily to a particular geography. I hate to say it, but we may still see more shootings.

Rosettas and Heles tell us that the politicians will be active, and anyone similar to politicians will also be active. In particular, issues of allegiance and loyalty will be in play, and treachery will be part of the mix. Watch your back!

Finally, we have Square Keys. These tend to tell us that we have lessons to learn, and we can learn them if we pay attention.

Full Moon 2021-03-28 (Libra Moon opposite Aries Sun)

This is the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox, and it precedes Easter on April 5, 2021.

This FM has interesting activity:

  • Hard Rectangle : like a Thor’s Hammer, tempers flare BUT an amazing amount of work can be accomplished if the energy can be focused into accomplishment
  • Yod : We each face a decision of some kind, individually (based on your chart) and collectively (because of the Hele); it is a difficult decision, and it risks upsets or accidents or ambushes or wrong decisions (given the Hard Rectangle) that lead to conflict (fights, battles, wars); The Moon is at apex of the yod (the “focal” energy) with Uranus (surprises, electrical shocks, explosions, ambushes, sometimes brilliant mental insight and solutions) on one leg and asteroid Pallas (also brilliant mental insight and solutions but they tend to be “military” in nature given that Pallas sprang fully formed and armored from the head of her father (Zeus / Jupiter / Thor, depending on whose pantheon you have adopted). Both solutions are “close” and similar but NOT the same.  Though Solar Fire did not read it this way, this is a FOCUSED Yod with the Moon at Apex and Sun / Chiron / Venus conjunct at the Focal Point (and opposite the Moon).  *IF* properly focused, again, you can accomplish MUCH, some of it of a breakthrough nature.
  • Kite or “Kite Almost” : opportunities are present; this is “luck” for some
  • Hele : in some form these have been present for weeks; it is all about politics and political alignments; cohesion within parties is strong; conflict is public; expect our current messes to WORSEN rather than needed fixes be applied
  • Grand Trines : the aspect for which this blog is named; these tend to make for “easy” times but the Hard Rectangle will override that; in that case, again, these can be “luck” if the energy of the times is properly focused; (look for opportunities; they WILL be present!)
  • T-Squares : T-Squares seem to always be present; these are associated at least in part with recent the recent Grand Cross and associated tragedies; a push will exist to “get things done” but the question becomes : “what does that mean?”  Wrong solutions are tempting if they are “easy.”(Don’t take “the easy way out.”  Work through your own issues instead of expecting a scapegoat.)

Harvest Moon 2016 (2016-10-15) A Butterfly and a Hard Rectangle

Harvest Moon 2016 (2016-10-15) A Butterfly and a Hard Rectangle

More than a few of you have correctly deduced that this is one of the more special Full Moon(s).  We begin by showing a chart of the FM that contains a pattern we have not seen before.  We call it a “Hard Butterfly” in the absence of any other name to the contrary.  It is composed of two interlaced T-Squares that also contain a Hard Rectangle within them.  Here is the fourth order harmonic chart that most clearly elucidates this pattern.

Here is the Full Moon chart filtered to more clearly show the Hard Rectangle:

As we have discussed before, these kinds of patterns (T-Squares and especially Hard Rectangles) provide so much energy that they are “dangerous.”  You can accomplish much, but you run the risk of “overdoing it.”  Martians (Intelligence Agencies, Police, and Athletes) will tend to do well and in some cases have tremendous accomplishments but, again, run the risk of “overdoing it.”  If you are not a Martian, then make certain you avoid dangerous people, places, and things and avoid being such a person yourself.

A Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist) pattern is also present with Saturn (the Greater Malefic, and a source of tests, trials, and tribulations) is at the Apex.  This is yet another amplifier of the situation we have already described, and it is associated with people, places, and things going “boom.”  Here is the same chart but filtered for the TH:

We will likely have more to say and more to add over the course of the day as the FM moves towards perfection.  Till then, we encourage you to focus your efforts into beneficial and useful work, avoid dangerous people, places, and things, and have as much safe fun as you can muster on the even of this “Harvest Moon.”

Full Moon 2016-07-19 Diamond Pattern

The Full Moon of July 19th of 2016 has a rare diamond pattern in it.

2016-07-19-FullMoon-Diamond

We will have more to say about this FM as it approaches perfection, but you need to know now that this indicates we are in a window of rare and powerful importance.  Diamond patterns are rare, and we had one on the Winter’s Solstice of 2012 (when many people predicted the end of the world).  We are not at the “end of the world,” but we (collectively) are facing major change, and this diamond pattern confirms that.

This is likely the most pattern rich lunation we have seen since we started the blog in 2008.  (But, you might want to compare this to the Full Moon of May 21st, also an important lunation this year.)  The following patterns are included in this particular lunation:

  • Diamond
  • Rosetta (several)
  • Hard Rectangle (has been associated with violence when not properly channeled)
  • Mystic Rectangle (a sign of rare opportunity and present in Hillary Clinton’s birth chart)
  • Kites (two, interlaced; signs of powerful opportunity)
  • Thor’s Hammer (aka God’s Fist, a pair of them in an incredibly rare configuration resembling a Star of David)
  • Grand Cross (sometimes associated with violence as we saw in late June of this year)
  • A Yod (sign of a decision; a “fork in the road” where we must decide with no turning back)

We will have more to say in the hours that come as this FM perfects, but we are just getting the basics out there for anyone else interested in patterns.  Let’s face it: we live in unusual times, and the days really are bringing new, and sometimes disturbing, events.

The Rosetta is a sign of quick alliances that might turn to treachery or deceit later.  Pick your “friends” carefully at this time.  This chart has SEVERAL of them:

2016-07-19-FullMoon-Rosetta

We have seen the Hard Rectangle previously associated with violence this year.  (Compare the Hard Rectangle of April 22nd.)  This FM has one of those, also:

2016-07-19-FullMoon-HardRectangle

The Mystic Rectangle is also particularly rare.  We note that Hillary Clinton’s birth chart has one of these.  They bring special gifts and opportunities to a person, and they bring the same to a window of time and the events in that same window of time.

2016-07-19-FullMoon-MysticRectangle

We note that in addition to containing the Full Moon itself (Cancer Sun opposed by Capricorn Moon), that the Mystic Rectangle also contains Astraea (law and lawyers) in Virgo (healthcare and accounting) opposite Chiron (the Wounded Healer and Teacher) in Pisces.  I bet major changes are happening that involve BOTH the legal system and the healthcare system.  (We may not be publicly aware of them, but they are happening.  The story will eventually come out.)

On a personal level, it is best to take care of either set of matters (legal system, healthcare, accounting / record keeping, and educational) at this time.  This is, clearly, a turning point.

We have two interlaced kites present.  This could be considered to be a “kite key” or something similar.  These are not just “kites” (windows of opportunity), they are “super kites” (huge windows of opportunity, if you have the eyes to see it).

2016-07-19-FullMoon-Kites

We note that these Kites CONTAIN the Mystic Rectangle WITHIN them!  Open your eyes: something special is waiting for you!  We note that a similar pattern occurred with the Winters Solstice of 2015.

An incredibly rare pair of Thor’s Hammers are also present.  These are INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, but they also contain the power to “get things done.”  Channel that energy (and anger) into a constructive process that harnesses the opportunity (opportunities, really) that are present.

2016-07-19-FullMoon-ThorsHammer

We call this unusual pair of Thor’s Hammer patterns a “Thor’s Hammer Star.”  (But, if you like to call them the “God’s Fist” patterns, then we would call this the “Star of God” pattern.  Truly this signals that God / the Universe / your Higher Power is speaking to you now.  Please listen!)  We note that each of the nodes (“Rahu” and “Ketu”) are each at the apex of each Thor’s Hammer pattern.  The nodes are considered “fate” or “karma” by many astrologers.

Also present is a Grand Cross.  The mutable grand cross of late June was discussed much by a number of astrologers.  The consensus was that it was associated with the shakeups and violence of that period.

2016-07-19-FullMoon-GrandCross

We note that this is a CARDINAL Grand Cross.  The Mutable Grand Cross was about ENDINGS and cleaning things out.  This one is about launching new things, though we may still want to do some “cleaning out” during the next two weeks of the waning moon.

A Yod is also present:

2016-07-19-FullMoon-Yod

Yods are places where we MUST make a decision.  Even “deciding not to decide” (abdication) is a decision.  We are at a fork in the road.  We must choose and never look back.  The other path will always “look better,” but it, too, had its difficulties.  The time to decide is at hand.

Finally, we note the presence of a Grand Trine.  It is contained within the heart of the pair of kites we mentioned earlier.  It brings “good times” and can make us lazy when we should be working.  Do not let the opportunity slip by you.

2016-07-19-FullMoon-GrandTrine

We will add more, later, as we approach perfection of this FM.  But, for now, we have covered “the basics.”  And, in this case, those “basics” present to us very much to consider and act upon.

In Memory of Cainer

Some time over a decade ago, and before I started this blog, I discovered the work of Jonathon Cainer.  He was a standard “Sun sign” style newspaper astrologer in the UK, but he was also much more than that.  His daily entries had a remarkable quality to them that I describe as “philosophical.”  While others, myself included, would focus in on the details of what, say, a Sagittarius Moon / Gemini Sun type full moon had to say, Cainer would zoom out and speak in lyrical words of poetry about the bigger picture of such a turn of events.

He was, in a word, inspiring.

So, I was disappointed to discover this morning, May 19th, that he had passed away on May 2nd of this year, 2016.  No chance now of him reading that email that I kept thinking about sending him for years but then not sending because I wanted to remain anonymous.  No chance of somehow showing up in England and having a chance encounter where I might speak to him for a moment.  The windows are closed, and the best I can do is an analysis of his birth and death charts (based on available data) in his memory.

His birth chart is remarkable, having both a Stretched Pentagram and a Diamond in it.  These tend to be rather rare, and he had both of them.  We show the birth chart for the Stretched Pentagram first:

Cainer (Birth, Stretched Pentagram)

It is the kind of chart, from the perspective of patterns, that is nothing short of amazing.  Here is the birth chart, again, with the Diamond highlighted:

Cainer (Birth, Diamond, Beginner)

Much of the Diamond and Stretched Pentagram overlap.  The evening of Winter’s Solstice 2012 (aka “The End of the World as We Know It”) had a Diamond in it, and while 2012 came and went without the end of the world, we can say that this period of years, marked by the Uranus / Pluto squares (or, as Cainer called it: “the bell tolls seven times”) has been remarkable in changes and upheaval (“Arab Spring,” “Black Lives Matter,” the dominance of “smart phones” in our collective lives, the candidacy of Donald Trump for President, etc.)

Cainer had other patterns also.  He had a “Square Key” which is really two interlocked “Huber Learning Triangles.”  These tell us what his biography said: he worked through some rather intense “karma” to reach the point he did in life.  Life was not particularly easy for him in the beginning, and arguably it was probably fairly tough even after he had acquired fortune and fame.

Here is the chart filtered for the Square Key:

Cainer (Birth, Square Key)

Just in case that was not enough, he also had a “Double Yod Key” (DYK).  This tells us he was face with many tough decisions, the kind where you always look back and wonder “what if I had taken the other path”?  Filtered for DYK:

Cainer (Birth, Double Yod Key)

The DYK is hard to see because it is built into his other patterns.  But, if we filter for yods, we find three of them, and they are a bit more obvious:

Cainer (Birth, Double Yods)

This is NOT an “easy” life.  It is spent worrying about “what if” I had done something else.  But Cainer was also born with the ability to accomplish much, and he did.

Cainer (Birth, Rosetta, Beginner)

Finally, we see a Rosetta in the birth chart.  We interpret this as “unstable alliances,” and from what we know this was true as well.  He moved back and forth between newspapers as shifting alliances pushed him to do just that.

If we filter for a Grand Cross we do not find one, but if we filter for T-Squares, then a slightly “loose” Grand Cross is obviously present (and a source of tremendous energy and the ability to “get things done”):

Cainer (Birth, T-Squares)

A 5th Harmonic filter shows a triangular pattern (two quintiles and a biquintile) involving Mars, Pallas, and Venus:

Cainer (Birth, 5th Harmonic)

We might add here that his highly activated Neptune near Midheaven is an indicator of psychic abilities.  It can also indicate alcohol or drug problems or some kind of involvement (he did manage a bar at one point).  We suspect that he felt many people “pulling” on him.  (Neptune can be the savior / martyr complex as well.)

Seventh harmonic in the birth chart also contains a triangular pattern and is sufficiently activated to indicate, again, these “karmic” issues to work through:

Cainer (Birth, 7th Harmonic)

Vesta/Hygeia, Neptune, and Sun compose the triangular pattern and indicate, again, both psychic abilities and physical illness as well.  (We suspect that long term / chronic illness may have plagued him but that he did not disclose it publicly.)

Now to the death chart.  A single pattern dominates: a hard rectangle!

Cainer (Death, Hard Rectangle)

One other pattern is present in the death chart: a Kite (if you are willing to use North / South lunar nodes):

Cainer (Death, Kite)

We note that the remainder of the kite is formed by Mercury and Pluto, both retrograde.  It is almost as if the cosmic said “OK we will give you a little more time to accomplish something, and then it is time to go.”  We may never know what that “something” was because it likely dealt with family and financial matters.  But he had received a reprieve of some kind from what was likely a “close call” of some kind earlier.  (Again, we will likely never be able to confirm or deny this.)  This kite also says that someone, somehow, greatly benefited from his death!  (What could that mean?)

Seventh Harmonic is also interesting:

Cainer (Death, 7th Harmonic)

Mars, Astraea, and Sun are involved in a triangular 7th harmonic pattern (made of a TriSeptile and two BiSeptiles).  We wonder if some kind of legal issues were about to emerge at the time of his death.  (Again, we would bet that this is something private despite 2 out of 3 planets being above ground.)

Finally, we present the bi-wheel without patterns or much analysis except to note that his second Saturn return was upon him (and the one for the author of this blog is not too far away either).  Saturn returns often “take us home,” and that is what happened for him.

Cainer BiWheel

We have little more to add to this analysis, especially since we prefer our readers dig into it for themselves.  But, he was a giant in the field, and he will be missed.  And, as an aside, my own coming Saturn return leaves me rather “nervous.”

We are deep in the shadow of the upcoming Mercury Retrograde station on April 28th, and “things” are likely to become interesting for that reason alone.  (Clarissa has written a great piece on the Mercury Retrograde.  And you can find more about these periods for the rest of the year here.)  The Full Moon perfected early April 22nd, and we still feel the effects from this one.

The time is at hand to review old and forgotten projects, and to meticulously check every detail of ongoing projects.  Resurrection of old projects CAN go very well at this time, but new ones seem to falter.  Expect to do maintenance to vehicles (cars, planes, boats) and electronics (television, computer, and telephones).

If you are a student, we continue to recommend that you focus yourself entirely on your projects and preparing for upcoming final exams.

April 2016 (Mars Out)

Week 17 (W17)

Archive of Week 16 (W16)

Sunday April 17th

Mars stations retrograde today, and that trumps everything.  Mercury trine Pluto in early morning hours (overnight) takes SOME of the sting out of the mess, but chances are good that “it” is a mess.

Use today for downtime and reflection if you can.  This is a good day to take a long hard look at what you have been able to accomplish and what you have not.  Maybe the time has come to either delegate or drop stuck or failed projects that sucked the lifeblood out of you.  Write them off and stop sending time, money, and people after what cannot be accomplished.

Monday April 18th

Pluto turns retrograde and worsens the situation.  Again, time to drop failed projects so you can focus on what can be accomplished.  Venus trine Saturn brings the focus to accomplish something useful if you do not waste time or other resources on failed projects.

Tuesday April 19th

Sun enters Taurus today, and that can serve us well or harm us greatly.  From now past at least May 9th we need to review and adjust rather than push forward.

From now until (at least) after Jupiter stations direct on May 9th, you will need to review and adjust plans.  With some plans you may need to wait to move forward until after the Mercury Direct Station on May 22nd or the following New Moon on June 4th.  Still other plans will be on hold until after Mars Direct Station on June 29th or after the following New Moon on July 4th.  Only you, personally, will know which windows applies best to which project.  If you are not certain, you can test possibly forward most after these key dates.

Taurus can give any of us (but particularly the Earth signs) a powerful level of “strength” to accomplish “things,” but that strength can make a terrible mess of “things” also.  (The “poster child” for this in astrology was Adolf Hitler.  Don’t be a “Hitler.”  If you are making a MESS of “things” then STOP.)

Regarding today, besides the Sun entering Taurus, Venus squares Pluto which can be very good (or very bad) for sex and romance.  It typically does NOT bode well for financial markets, but wherever you have losers you have winners and vice versa.  Regarding the markets, the next thirty days “may not be entirely stable.” (As 3CPO said about that asteroid in Star Wars with Han Solo saying “Chewie, take the professor in the back.”)

Wednesday April 20th

This is a day where lunar aspects dominate.  You can “get things done” (in a minor way) if you pay attention to earlier warnings.  Get done what must be done and pay careful attention to details.  This is likely the best day this week, but some tasks or projects will have to be re-done.

Thursday April 21st

Moon is void most of the day (in Libra) and changes sign shortly before a full moon (Moon in Scorpio / Sun in Taurus).  “Getting things done” today is a bit difficult.  Use it for cleaning out and planning.  If your faith observes lunations, this is a particularly good one for ceremonies.

A Full Moon (Scorpio / Taurus) perfects in the early morning hours (CDT / MDT / PDT) and on Thursday in areas east of those time zones.  All of these time zones, most time zones, will feel this FM more on Thursday and Friday.

Friday April 22nd

Most people in PDT (West Coast of USA) and points east will awaken to the waning “just past full” moon.  (Pacific Rim citizens may awaken as it perfects or just before.)  It is Scorpio (Moon) / Taurus (Sun) and we all feel those.  All fixed signs will be stirred to action, and Leo / Aquarius will be particularly irritated (or worse) in some way.  Earth (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo) and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) signs will tend to benefit.  Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) and Air (Libra, Aquarius, Gemini) may experience this FM as weakening their position in some way.  Fire and Air will gain SOME strength from the Venus / Uranus conjunction (in the form of insights) but everyone should expect surprises.

A bit like Wednesday, you might actually accomplish something today despite difficult astrological circumstances.  Again: Venus joins Uranus (both in Aries), so expect surprises and use the insights gained to accomplish something if that is possible (and to learn the lesson if not possible).

Saturday April 23rd

Use this as a playday.  A pair of lunar quincunxes bring problems to the early morning hours but you can move past them if you choose to do so.  Moon becomes void before 5 PM CDT, so use the evening as downtime especially “quiet time.”  Tonight is a good night to read the Torah (if you do that).  Passover begins.

Full Moon 2016-04-22 (Hard Rectangle)

Full Moon 2016-04-22 (Hard Rectangle)

For anyone who wants to check either upcoming or previous full moons or new moons, we offer pages that cover both categories of lunations for 2016. Here is a list of New Moons for 2016, and here is a list of Full Moons for 2016.

We note five patterns associated with this FM: Hard Rectangle, Thor’s Hammer, Hele, Kite(s), and T-Square(s).

We have been omitting T-Squares because they are still quite common when anything aspects the now dissolving Uranus / Pluto square (discussed extensively both elsewhere and on this site).  However, we now have continuing T-Squares involving Jupiter (Virgo), Saturn (Sagittarius), and Neptune (Pisces), and since this set involves other bodies and points (Nodes, Chiron, Hygeia, and Mars) we believe it is worth addressing this set of T-Squares as well.

This is a very “early” Moon-Scorpio/Sun-Taurus FM, and it is the day after Adolf Hitler’s birthday.  Entertainment figures Chyna and Prince died within the last 48 hours, and we would not be surprised to see another one (or more) go at this time.  To say the least, this energy is “tough.”

This period of time reminds us of the period circa January 8, 2016 with the death of David Bowie and Glenn Frey.  Bowie’s death was within 48 to 72 hours prior to the Capricorn New Moon of January 9, 2016.

[We may revise this blog post later to reflect other events that occur concurrent with the FM of 2016-04-22]

While I am not a numerologist (I am not certain how it works), I do note the following (for those time zones where the FM occurs April 22nd): (1) the day is a master number (22); (2) month + day is a higher order master number (44); and, depending on how you reduce numbers, year/month/day is also higher order (2016=7; + 04 -11; 11 + 22 = 33).  So, arguably, in different forms we have 22, 33, and 44.  (I am certain others will note this, and I expect those who claim numerology as their domain to have something to say about it.)

Let’s begin the astrological analysis of patterns with the Hard Rectangle, since it is the rarest of the patterns present (we believe “rare patterns” represent a sort of cosmic “punctuation mark”).

Here is the chart for the 2016-04-22 Full Moon, filtered for the Hard Rectangle:

2016-04-22 Full Moon (Hard Rectangle)

This pattern involves the Sun, Moon and Nodes (Rahu and Ketu to Vedic astrologers).  Many (most? all?) of the traditional astrologers do not like using the Nodes in aspects / patterns.  This is because the Nodes are points rather than actually bodies.  The Nodes are a function of the Earth’s orbital path relative to the Earth and are mathematically determined (as opposed to “heavenly bodies” which, at least in theory, can be observed).

So, whether or not you accept this pattern (or any other that uses the Nodes) depends on whether or not you believe the Nodes affect you.  If you do, then this is an unusually intense Full Moon (FM) because the Nodes (aka “Karma”) form a Hard Rectangle (a very energetic and often dangerous pattern) with the FM.  You can accomplish much at this time, despite the upcoming Mercury Retrograde (and other retrogrades) if you keep your focus by watching your temper.  Avoid dangerous people, places, and things (unless that is your job, and I expect that police, investigators, and intelligence agencies will be very busy at this time along with scientists who explore dangerous topics (venomous snakes, etc.)), and avoid BEING a dangerous person yourself.

Just in case you somehow did not get the previous message, a Thor’s Hammer pattern is also present.  This is a notoriously dangerous aspect, but, again, it can be channeled to get things done.  You know what to do: follow the prescription we just gave (stay focused; avoid temper / violence / explosions).

Here is the (same) chart, filtered for the Thor’s Hammer:

2016-04-22 Full Moon (Thor's Hammer)

As you can see from this version of the chart, the North Node, Saturn, and the Sun form this pattern.  The early (“too early to tell”) Sun is at the Apex, with Saturn (“tests, trials, and tribulations) on one leg and the North Node (“hard karma”) on the other leg.  With so many retrogrades in play, we recommend that you avoid “banging your head” on projects that will not budge at this time and focus instead on the highest priority projects where you can make actual progress.  (You may also want to review your priorities at this time.)

We also have a Hele present, and it tells us contradictory messages!  One the one hand, with Sun/Moon in the “too early to tell” degrees, it tells us that there are some things (IMPORTANT things) that you do not yet know about the alliances you are about to form.  Are they organized crime?

And, if YOU are organized crime, then are they the undercover police that will finally seal your fate?

Yet, Scorpio-Taurus tells us that if you try to get out of this alliance “somewhere down the road,” then there will be hell to pay.  Be extremely careful with the new friends you choose at this time, and know that they may have far more power than you can possibly realize at this moment.

Here is the chart for the Hele:

2016-04-22 Full Moon (Hele)

Mercury / Vesta (together) is on one leg with the North Node (there it is again!), and Uranus and Saturn are on the other leg.  You will have to choose one or the other.

All of this sounds challenging, and it is.  But a ray of hope is present.  Kites (multiple, overlapping) are present in this chart, and for those that can see them (and harness them), powerful opportunities are present.

Here is the same chart, filtered for the kites:

2016-04-22 Full Moon (Kites)

Mercury and Pluto form this kite, along with the Nodes (again), so this opportunity will be present for one to three days, possibly longer as slow as Mercury is moving at this time.  Some time after the Mercury Retrograde station, it will open for a second “act” in the play.  But, if you really do want to seize this window of opportunity then you need to do it now.  The other variants will give you a chance to “clean up” things that result from Sun/Moon being in the “too early to tell” period.

Finally, we address the T-Squares.  They are a third pronouncement of the same kind of message that the Hard Rectangle and Thor’s Hammer bring: much energy, the potential for anger and violence, and great potential for accomplishment if the energy is properly funneled.

Here is the chart, filtered for the T-Squares:

2016-04-22 Full Moon (T-Square)

More specifically, what is involved here are mutables (Planets in mutable signs), and long term planets are present in each sign that forms the T-Square (three of four mutable signs: Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces).

Virgo / Pisces focuses on the issues of work and play in general along with questions regarding attention to detail (does it help by identifying important issues or does cause harm by wasting time and other resources).  They also address healthcare, with Virgo focused on healthcare providers (nurses and physicians and similar) and Pisces focuses on the illness (and how to “heal” from it (including death)).

Sagittarius forms the apex of the T-Square (with the Malefics Mars and Saturn there, both retrograde), and we find that answers to these work/play isseus (or healthcare issues) are likely located in either higher education (Universities and similar) or the legal system.

The T-Squares (multiple, overlapping) provide guidance on where you should consider focusing your efforts at this time: work, play (or rest and recovery), health, healthcare, higher education, and the legal system.  Since we are dealing with mutables, we should be looking to “wrap up” current issues and move on to new ideas and new projects.

Appulse Lunar Eclipse (FM) 2016-03-23 (Hard Rectangle)

Appulse Lunar Eclipse (FM) 2016-03-23 (Hard Rectangle)

Let us face it, the big thing about this “full moon” is that it is an eclipse.  Following immediately on the heels of that fact, in importance, is the presence of a “Hard Rectangle.”  Hard Rectangles are a newer pattern and tricky to interpret.  They also tend to be rare, and that adds to the difficulty of categorizing them.  Energetically, they resemble a Thor’s Hammer (aka God’s Fist), but they are not necessarily violent (but could be).

The attack in Brussels, less than 24 hours prior to the perfection of the eclipse (and Hard Rectangle) lends credence to the idea that they may be associated with violence.  But the energy associated with them likely CAN be channeled into more constructive endeavors.

In any case, here is the chart, filtered for the HR, and in basic form:

Appulse Lunar Eclipse (FM) 2016-03-23 (Hard Rectangle)

For those new to astrology, and trying to learn the basics, we present the same chart in “Beginners” format:

Appulse Lunar Eclipse (FM) 2016-03-23 (Hard Rectangle) Beginners

Since we consider this to be a particularly important chart, we will also present it AGAIN in “Horary format” to present certain data useful to people who need that information.  (i.e. “traditionalists”):

Appulse Lunar Eclipse (FM) 2016-03-23 (Hard Rectangle) Horary

Since the discussion of the events in Brussels will likely be covered in depth elsewhere, we will avoid in-depth analysis at this time (reserving the right for later) and only note that (1) similar to 9/11, these occurred in a void, and (2) these occurred less than 24 hours prior to the eclipse / hard rectangle.

A Square Key and Hele are also present, both long term and both discussed elsewhere recently on this blog.  In summary, (1) important alliances will be formed during this window of time and (2) important lessons will be learned.

That said, what else can we say about this particular eclipse?  Well, a critical generational group will be profoundly affected by this eclipse because the transiting Sun/Moon will form the Apex of a yod involving natal Neptune (Scorpio) and natal Pluto (Virgo) for this group:

Many decisions are important, but this one unquestionably is of paramount importance.  I would go so far as to ignore the nuances and just say “the period from 1956 to 1960, inclusive.”  And an argument could easily be made for widening the window to a few years earlier and a few years later.

If you know of anyone in this age group, pass on the news.  It might make an important difference.

So, what are the choices?  (1) the Eclipse at 3 Aries tells us that we MUST take action.  (2) the Neptune leg is passive and just letting things be, but it is in Scorpio, and we will feel changes and “transformation” (possibly losses) if we follow this route.  (3) the Pluto leg is in Virgo (and therefore requires work) and focuses on health and healthcare as well as accounting and bookkeeping.  In the end, no matter which leg we pick, if we are alive in a few years (as this group moves through its second Saturn return), we may not resemble our former selves.  A radical transformation will happen.  That is a certainty.

All we have said about the Hard Rectangle (energy, possibly violence), Hele (alliances), and Square Key (lessons) will especially apply here and likely over the next year (or longer).  The long window of repeating Jupiter Square Saturn aspects, including todays perfection, confirms the longer term quality of this eclipse / hard rectangle.

If you are not in this age group, do not think you are immune.  Chances are good you are connected to someone in this group in an important way, and their chances will have an impact on you as well.

Our final note is this: based on both the Hard Rectangle AND what happened in Brussels yesterday, we are living in dangerous times.  Be careful.

2016-03 W13: Forecasts for Week 13 of 2016

The Vernal Equinox was March 19th / 20th depending on your location (with Venus conjunct Neptune on the same day), and the next lunation (a Aries / Libra Lunar Eclipse (a special type of Full Moon)) wad on March 23rd (Jupiter perfects a square to Saturn a few hours earlier on the same day).   Jupiter / Saturn has been exerting ongoing influence (especially on the financial markets), and this is the second of three with the first being last fall.

2016-03 W13: Forecasts for Week 13 of 2016

March 2016 (Mars Out)

Archive of Week 12 (W12)

Week 13 (W13)

Sunday March 20th

For the eastern coast of the United States (aka the “East Coast”), the Vernal Equinox occurs today at half past midnight.  (To determine the time for your locale, click here.)   Venus (Pisces) joins Neptune (Pisces), and this is a very good “feel good” day but a terrible day to sign contracts or make long term commitments.  Spiritual endeavors tend to prosper (as long as no long term commitment is involved).  Pluto is active in higher order aspects to Pallas (ingenious plans, especially military in nature) and Vesta (traditions).  Expect issues involving death and dying (or taxes) to surface today and be blended into spirituality.

Monday March 21st

Today is the “Ecclesiastical” beginning of Spring (used as part of the determination of when Easter occurs).  Moon is in Virgo all day and quite active.  Mercury enters Aries in the evening and is void (v/c) prior to that.  Communications and transportation problems may emerge during this window; do not buy a vehicle, computer, or phone during this time.  And, whether we are aware of it or not, we are preparing in some way on some level for what the upcoming Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon Aries / Libra) will bring us.

Moon becomes void only a few hours later, making it difficult to accomplish anything lasting today.  Stick to routine tasks and plans for action after the eclipse on Wednesday.

Tuesday March 22nd

Moon is void in Virgo all day long, entering Libra 10:23 PM PDT / 11:23 PM MDT in the swestern part of the United States.  Again, stick to routine tasks and plans for action after the eclipse on Wednesday.

Wednesday March 23rd

We have a double header with Jupiter Square Saturn today along with the Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon Aries / Libra).  Note that Jupiter / Saturn will perfect again May 26th, and this aspect exerts continuing influence from February 14th of 2016 until October 28th of 2016.  Chances are good this week, maybe today, will mark an important milestone in this window.  The eclipse punctuates that.

Sun conjoins Mercury circa 3:11 PM CDT, and the window form 2:40 PM until 3:40 PM CDT is particularly useful (Cazimi) for key actions involving communications or transportation.  You can buy that car, computer or phone if you can seal the entire deal during this window.

A Hard Rectangle also forms on the 23rd:

Hard Rectangle Enters   March 23 2016 5:56:47 am (CDT +5:00)
Hard Rectangle Leaves March 23 2016 3:32:35 pm (CDT +5:00)

Thursday March 24th

Mercury trines Mars today, and you should accomplish all you can prior to Moon becoming void of course after its opposition to Uranus.  The aspect (the opposition) can bring some very smart ideas, but you need to wait until you have more information, some time Friday afternoon (tomorrow), before you attempt to put those into action.  Take this “time off” to do as much research as you can and lay the foundation without making any major commitments to move forward.

Friday March 25th

At 1:10 PM CDT the Moon moves into Scorpio, but you still may want to wait a few hours to put into action your plans from yesterday evening since the Moon is in the “too early to tell” period (also known as a “sign change boundary”).  You MIGHT can make “it” work (whatever “it” is), but the venture will be risky and require significant concentration to make “it” work.

Venus (Pisces) opposes Jupiter (Virgo) and squares Saturn (Sagittarius) today, forming a mutable T-Square.  The T-Square will give you great energy, but mutable T’s are about finishing the tasks at hand (bring them to completion), cleaning up, and laying the groundwork to launch the next major endeavor.

Saturday March 26th

As far as “getting things done” goes, Saturday is a powerhouse, the best day this week.  If you did not launch your new project yesterday, then launch it today and accomplish all you can today.  Set leisure activities aside for another day, and focus on accomplishing the most important tasks today, especially anything part of a larger project.

Sun (Aries) trines Mars (Sagittarius), Venus (Pisces) sextiles Pluto (Capricorn), and the Moon has MOSTLY favorable aspects (two small glitches, one in the early morning hours and one shortly before 8 AM CDT; you can move past these and SHOULD do that).  Get’er done!

Week 14 (W14)

Sunday March 27th

Moon turns void, and yesterday’s windows close.  If you did not achieve completion, then you must put it on hold or stick to routine activities only (possibly at risk even with those).  Today is not a “bad” day, but you will find it difficult to achieve lasting results today.  Use this as a “day of rest” from yesterday and stick to cleaning up and planning for forward action on another day.

Friday January 29th 2016

Friday a Hard Rectangle perfects.  These tend to be rare, but quite a few of them perfect in 2016.   This is a strange day in which you either come to a complete halt or accomplish more than you can ordinarily hope for.  Middle ground does not tend to exist in any matter; extremism will tend to dominate.  Tempers can flare, so direct your focus appropriately.

In Europe and the UK, as well as those in Eastern Standard Time, Mercury conjunct Pluto perfects on Saturday, shortly after midnight for those in EST.  For points west, including CST, MST, and PST, the perfection of this aspect occurs Friday evening.  In any case, this amplifies the effects of both the Thor’s Hammer and the Hard Rectangle. Please note that this aspect corresponds to its mirror image that occurred January 22nd and the same or similar issues from that date will likely arise again. This aspect is ALSO part of a T-Square, with the second part (Mercury Square Uranus) perfecting on Sunday.  Expect an “exciting” weekend.

We will not “feel” Mercury conjunct Pluto again until December 8th, and it does not perfect again until January 22, 2017.  If you keep notes and do advanced planning, you might want to note on your calendar to review your notes from December 2015 / January 2016 (and this weekend in particular) when those dates arrive.  We note that we are currently still early in the Presidential primaries now, but we will be facing the inauguration of the new President (whoever that is) at that time.

Mars septile Jupiter gives this day an odd “karmic” kind of feel and, sadly, that may involve people “blowing things out of proportion.”  (Mars / Jupiter is a huge, and sometimes dangerous, amplifier of whatever is current.  In this case, that is (1) Mercury conjunct Pluto; (2) a month long Thor’s Hammer; and (3) a Hard Rectangle.  EACH of those can bring  violence, and all three together are quite scary.)

(We expect January to go out with a “bang.”)

Hard Rectangle of 2016-01-29

We had one of these earlier on January 17th during the recent Mercury Retrograde period.  This is one of a number of similar patterns in 2016.  While these tend to be uncommon, 2016 seems to have a surplus of them.  The aspect is one that either brings “things” to a halt or provides the energy to accomplish much.  Tempers and flare and disagreements can occur.  Furthermore, this occurs both near the end of a month long Thor’s Hammer and a few days after the Mercury Direct Station.  Tempers can flare, and violence can erupt.  Focus your attention appropriately, and this can be a day where you can accomplish much.  The waning moon favors buyers over sellers as well as cleaning out and discarding the unnecessary.

2016-01-29 Hard Rectangle

This particular Hard Rectangle tends to address issues of relationships, justice, innovation, and helping those less fortunate than ourselves.  Among photographers, we expect some amazing “street photography” to occur during this window.  Other creatives can benefit as well as long as they focus themselves well enough to accomplish something.

Aspect Patterns for November 2015 and December 2015

For both your convenience and ours, we are providing our aspect pattern analysis for the final two months of 2015 (November 2015 and December 2015).

First, this sixty two (62) day period does not contain any of the following patterns (excluding the use of minor asteroids, Transneptunians, and so forth):

  • Quintile Kite
  • Grand Quintile
  • Diamond
  • Stretched Pentagram
  • Stellium (5 point)
  • Star of David
  • Star of David (Almost)

This search was performed with Solar Fire 7, and the results of other programs and settings may provide differing results.  Also, combining both Natal positions and transiting positions can identify patterns that apply in a particular person’s life.  (Consult a suitably trained astrologer for such guidance.)

We did find the following patterns:
  • T-Squares
  • Grand Trines
  • Yods (includes Focused Yods, list again later)
  • Thor’s Hammer (aka God’s Fist)
  • Grand Cross
  • Kite
  • Kite Almost (1)
  • Kite Almost (2)
  • Mystic Rectangle
  • Hard Rectangle
  • Focused Yod
  • Rosetta
  • Hele
  • Double Yod Key
  • Square Key
  • 4 Point Stellium
We apologize for the readability issue associated with the lists that follow.  We have tried several approaches to embed blank lines to improve readability, however we are unable to obtain a suitable solution within WordPress.
The details associated with the patterns we found are presented next:

Full Moon Taurus / Scorpio 2015-10-27 (Hard Rectangle)

The Hard Rectangle (HR) is a comparatively rare aspect.  We have one as this Full Moon (Moon in Taurus, Sun in Scorpio) perfects, and an ongoing Thor’s Hammer is also present.  This is a very “energetic” time in which people CAN get things done but tend to be unstable and frustrated and violent.

Here is the FM chart, filtered for the HR:

.

We also present this chart filtered for the ongoing Thor’s Hammer (which affected a number of major aspects perfecting last week):

Again, we note that this Thor’s Hammer pattern, which uses the South Node, has been in effect since last week (or longer, depending on what boundaries, “orbs,” that one uses).

Hard Rectangle 2015-08-28

These are rare aspects, and some people would argue against this one.  Two of the components are the North/South node which are calculated points rather than planets.  We present the chart and analysis, and you can decide for yourself.

A bit like a “Thor’s Hammer,” this is an energetic aspect that can be dangerous.  You may have trouble sleeping, and if you are awake you will have much energy.  You can get work done or clean house or something similar.  But given that this occurs late Friday into Saturday, you might want to stay off the roads to avoid inebriated drivers.  Moon opposite Mars is part of the pattern, and that makes “things” even more energetic.  (Moon opposite Mars perfects a few hours before this pattern forms.)

Here is the chart:

Tempers are likely to fly during this period.  At a minimum, people are “irritable.”
