Ahhh, let’s start with the Question:

* No Planets Retro Phase?

I’ve been asked online and by friends and clients about this window of NO retro planets, in the phase since MERCURY went out of retro (Jan 8) until JUPITER goes retro (Feb 5).

Yes, technically it’s true, no planet of the Solar system is presently from Earth perspective going retrograde (you see on the Full Moon chart in the Jan 12 post no R behind planetary positions in the bottom right table). The conclusion that online initiatives for a global meditation made is that this window brings everything into forward motion, and things can manifest more easily without hindrance.

I wouldn’t generalize in that way, based on THAT factor alone. The Cardinal Grand Cross is actually much more of a catalyst – IF we don’t waste energy in conflict, and take ‘centred action’.
How’s it going for you with the…

Friday, January 8, 2016

Friday Sun Sextiles Chiron, and educational or health issues (or both) tend to dominate the day.  Mostly it should be benevolent, but old wounds and problems may reopen under this aspect during a Mercury Retrograde.  Moon and Mercury both enter Capricorn (but from opposite ends of the sign!), and Venus conjoins Saturn.  That tends to make this another “nose to the grindstone” kind of day, similar to Wednesday earlier this week.  Friday night (and arguably Thursday) is also “Dark of the Moon,” the powerful period some use for rituals that precedes the New Moon (of Saturday).

New Moon 2016-01-09 Thor’s Hammer

This New Moon in Capricorn occurs with a longer term Thor’s Hammer aspect just two days past Sun Square Uranus and a few days after a Mercury Retrograde station.   Here is the chart, filtered for the Thor’s Hammer:

Here is a list of New Moons for 2016, and here is a list of Full Moons for 2016.  We think this can be a good day to “get things done,” but you should be looking at old projects that somehow were sidelined at some earlier point and may now be ripe for resurrection.

Sun Square Uranus 2016-01-07

Before we analyze the perfection of this (annual) aspect, let’s provide links to other similar aspects:

If you keep notes, the way we recommend, then you can compare these days from last year (2015) to today to see what similarities, and differences, exist.  You might want to particularly pay attention to what was happening in your life on, or near, July 12, 2015.  As we repeatedly mention, this helps “teach you to fish” as opposed to merely giving you a fish.

Today, Sun Square Uranus has a Thor’s Hammer pattern that is present for most of January 2016.  We present the chart for perfection of this aspect, filtered for the Thor’s Hammer pattern, next:

Sun Square Uranus 2016-01-07 Thor's Hammer

We note that this pattern CAN be associated with accidents and explosions (not as much as Mars square either Uranus or Pluto).  The presence of the month-long Thor’s Hammer exacerbates that, Mercury Retrograde tends to introduce mis-steps and confusion, and we are in a very old Moon (those tend to eliminate or “remove” things).

By themselves, this would be enough.  But, as often spoken on late night television, “…but wait, there’s more!”  Jupiter stations retrograde (similar to Mercury Retrograde, but more subtle) and a mutable T-Square involving Moon (Sagittarius), Chiron (Pisces), and Jupiter (Virgo) forms later in the day.

Today can be quite risky.

But, as we have pointed out in a number of other posts, days like today can be good for “getting things done” (if you avoid dangerous people, places, or things) especially if they involve cleaning out clutter and removing that which is no longer necessary to make room for that which is yet to come.

We also have other commentary published here.

Here are the upcoming Sun Square Uranus aspects:

retrograde_20160105_300Rewind, Rethink and Review

It’s January, and today begins the first Mercury Retrograde of 2016. While planets don’t actually go backwards when they retrograde, we sometimes experience them as if they’re working in direct opposition to their true nature. Planets have “personalities.” They act one way in forward motion and one way in backward motion, or retrograde. Where they retrograde (in what zodiac sign/house) signifies how they will affect your Sun Sign.

In addition to the usual caveats of Mercury Retrograde, such as avoiding big ticket purchases or signing documents, retrogrades also signal a time to rewind, review and rethink. It can also reacquaint you with some long-lost friends and even past relationships.

Mercury will not only retrograde this January, it will also be making some stellar angles (good and bad) to other planets. But you can make the most of this Mercury Retrograde by remaining positive and remembering that…

How to Survive a New Moon in Capricorn with Mercury Retrograde

New Moon occurs in Capricorn Saturday January Ninth at 9:30PM MST.

As the Cardinal Earth sign of the zodiac Capricorn is the sign of money and career driven ideals represented by patience, dignity, earth-wisdom and deliberate action. Caps are tenacious and know exactly what they want. This new moon will be very oriented in the finances and career sector of our lives. Astrologically Jupiter and Pluto were recently mingling in Sagittarius, the land of big ideas. As they move now into Capricorn together it is time to see those ideas come into fruition. This is a fabulous sign for new endeavors. But don’t jump on a new opportunity too soon.

Be careful, however, because Mercury is in retrograde which means that communications will be faulty so it may be a frustrating time to start new projects. This can lead to some serious complications with a new moon in the sign of…

The Truth about Mercury Retrograde

Divine Inner Goddess

I think it’s important to clarify this natural phenomenon, as my guides are telling me it’s much needed at this time. Although I think it’s wonderful Mercury Retrograde is once again becoming a part of our modern collective consciousness, I believe its effects are widely misinterpreted and misunderstood as a period to be feared or dread.

Mercury Retrograde was exact at 5:06am PST January 5th and will remain until January 25th, 2016. At its worst, communication lines are blurred, computers go on the fritz, travel plans may be postponed and/or phone service will be disconnected more often than usual. Perhaps in its own way even modern technology has the need to purge what is no longer serving it; but aren’t we all in need of our own reboot or refresh every now and again?

During this time lost items may reappear or people from your past may reenter your life…

Hello Mercury Retrograde, old friend. You know, I knew you were on your way when my transmission started slipping this weekend and, sure enough, could barely make it to the mechanic today. I was born with Mercury in Retrograde, so it doesn’t ruffle my feathers when it ruffles my plans. I just know, without a doubt, that there will be glitches and delays and systems needing overhaul. I expect it. I’ve learned to go with the flow. (If I say it enough, it becomes true).

Well, all that ended when Mercury went retrograde on January 5th in humanitarian Aquarius (transits into pragmatic Capricorn on the 8th), and remains in the shadow until January 25th. This is the first of not just the usual three per year, oh no, but a total of FOUR opportunities to remedy.”…

Wednesday, January 6, 2016 Moon enters Sagittarius

Wednesday, Moon enters Sagittarius early and lunar aspects dominate the day.  We are still processing what happened on Tuesday, and some events may spill over into what should otherwise be a quiet day.  For most people, today should be a “nose to the grindstone” day that is mostly about getting things done.  But, with the Moon waning, Mercury Retrograde, and the pyrotechnics of Tuesday, today might be more of a “cleanup day” than anything else.

The first time I heard about Mercury being in Retrograde, I almost flipped out!

This was a few years back when the movements of the planets were obscured by my profound interest in the Moon, in fact, I think the Moon and I went steady for a while there.

Coming out of my Lunar fog, I was told that Mercury would be spinning backwards and that all manner of hell would break loose in my life. What did this person mean, spinning backwards? Did Earth ever spin backwards? What the bejaysus was going on?

What Mercury actually does is speed past Earth in its orbit around the Sun a few times a year, and when it does so, it leaves all of us Earthlings in a bit of a tail spin. What’s the bloody hurry anyway? But since Mercury is closest to the Sun of all the planets, I’m imagining…
