Blue Monday?

First, let me point out the Wikipedia article in Blue Monday. A bit of controversy exists about it, so let’s clarify a few things:
- Skeptics consider it “pseudoscience” “like astrology.” Glad they do, that puts it in my domain. <smile>
- Some lament it claiming that “depression does not occur one day a year.” Well, that is not the point. “Blue Monday” has nothing to do with the mental illness of depression unless certain days, maybe “Blue Monday,” could be precipitating factors for some people.
- Some people have (incorrectly) said it is “the third Monday in January.” Nope. That is not the point. It CAN be the “third Monday in January,” but it should NEVER be strictly codified as such.
So, what is it?
It is the Monday that follows the weekend where your “New Year’s Resolutions” crash, particularly if they involve a “diet” or some other (typically poorly conceived and poorly executed) weight loss plan. For many people, this is the Monday that follows the THIRD WEEKEND in January. The third Monday in January in 2017 was Monday, January 15th. But the Monday that followed the THIRD WEEKEND is today, January 24th. And, if your well intentioned “resolutions” crashed over the weekend, then chances are good you do not feel very good about that today, and that makes today “Blue Monday” for you.
And if you do suffer from the illness of depression, and you made unrealistic plans for the new year, then today could be tough. If that is true, consider this: this, too, shall pass.

Sun Enters Aries (Vernal Equinox) 2016-03-19 (Focused Yod)

Sun Enters Aries (Vernal Equinox) 2016-03-19
The Vernal Equinox occurs March 19th in most of the United States and March 20th in UK / Europe. (Click here for more about the change of seasons in 2016.) We have a Focused Yod present. (For more about Focused Yods in 2016, click here.) That pattern requires you to make a decision (choose wisely!) but also gives you the power to “get things done” once you have made that decision. That pattern occurring at this time will give you both a similar requirement and a similar advantage until at least the Summer Solstice and possibly as long as the Vernal Equinox in 2017.
Here is the chart for the Vernal Equinox of 2016, filtered for the Focused Yod:

Other patterns are also present, including a Hele and a Square Key. For more about Hele patterns in 2016, click here. For more about Square Keys in 2016, click here.
Here is the same chart filtered for the Hele, an ongoing pattern at this time that contains Uranus, Pluto, Astraea, and the North Node (also known as Rahu, sometimes called “hard karma,” and a point in space rather than a physical planet). You are making decisions about who will be your long term alliances this month, and that continues to be an important issue today:

The ongoing Square Key also tells us that you will be learning important “lessons” at this time. Saturn, Uranus, Pluto, and the North Node are involved, so the “lessons” could be a bit harsh at times. If you survive them, you will have new ideas, be fundamentally transformed in some way, and be aware of what is essential.
Here is the chart for the ongoing (longer term) Square Key:

As we have written elsewhere, higher order aspects with outer planets are also in play today. (These also tend to be “longer term.”) For your convenience we will present some of that analysis here (but click the link if you want more):
Sun biseptiles Saturn, and we should consider resolving some old karma or helping someone less fortunate than ourselves or both. Sun quintiles Pluto, and we may encounter a very ingenious idea that either (a) helps us with the biseptiles (helping someone else) or (b) gives us a gift in the form of a smart idea that comes from providing said help. Venus is also novile Uranus today, providing us with an important insight or skill. [click here to read more]
A Grand Fire Trine is also present today (today only), and that tells us that we face an opportunity (particularly strong if you are heavy in your personal chart with Fire / Air signs). Here is the same chart filtered for the Grand Fire Trine:

In most of the United States, except the Eastern Time Zone (EDT), the Vernal Equinox greets us late tonight. (EU / UK experience this a half past 5 or half past 6 or later depending upon time zone.)

In any case, they go together and they set the stage for the days to come at least until the Summer Solstice (late June) or possibly as long as the Vernal Equinox of next year (late March)…

2016-03-18 Calendar of Aspects
A relatively benevolent Moon v/c begins after midnight (Moon Trine Sun) and ends near 4 AM CDT with the entry of the Moon into Leo. The moon is more quiet today than yesterday, with quincunx aspects to Venus (afternoon) and Neptune (evening). You may encounter a few glitches, but for most people they will be forgetten in a day or two and certainly by next week.
Outer planet aspects are far more busy (yesterday was relatively quiet with a Ceres / Uranus aspect bring a surprise regarding our prosperity (“The Visa is maxed out? Again?)).
Mars sesquiquadrate Uranus brings us some sense of urgency (possibly anger) to “get things done.” Chiron opposite North Node (“Rahu” to some) means it is conjunct the South Node (“Ketu”) and, therefore, we have a temptation to “take the easy way out” or “cut…

Why change Orthodox Christmas date? Change the whole calendar!

ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN MEETS WORLD
I don’t know about you, but after December 25th comes and goes, the remaining time between then and Orthodox Christmas January 7th doesn’t feel as much like the Christmas season, because most of the world has stopped celebrating it as such. The lights begin to come down, the movies and the songs revert back to normal, and everything else just reminds us Orthodox that we celebrate Christmas on a different day. And so, it is natural that around this time of year many of us begin to think about the Christmas date and whether we should be celebrating it all together at the same time. This idea particularly made waves when Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Church discussed it with a congregation in Canada when he visited back in September, 2014. And the reaction to this was very heated, with many alarmed and even angered by such a suggestion, while others absolutely…

2015-11-22 Calendar of Aspects
Sunday of Week 48 of 2015, November 22nd, is mostly a quiet day characterized by the Sun’s entry into Sadge, the Moon becoming v/c in early afternoon, and mostly higher order aspects. A Thor’s Hammer pattern is in play, so people may be irritable or even dangerous. But, mostly, it is a day of rest for most people.

2015-11-21 Calendar of Aspects
This is an energetic kind of Saturday. Many of you will wish to rise early and “get things done.” Mostly, this will work except during the Moon v/c period from 7:22 AM CST (8:22 EST / 5:22 PST) until 9:12 AM CST (10:12 EST / 8:12 PST). Use the void period to clean out and clear out and organize for later action. With the Moon this early in a sign, you may need a re-do on some activities, but in this case that is just part of the process. Mercury sesquiquadrate Uranus can produce annoyances that have the potential to contain powerful and profound lessons if you “keep your eyes open” for them. Sun is semi-square Pluto, so you may feel a sense of urgency regarding money matters or taxes (or the police). Overall it is a good day, and you will feel better about it…

2015-11-20 Calendar of Aspects
Mercury enters Sadge shortly before 2 PM CST (3PM EST / Noon PST). Expect communications and transportation to have a “retrograde” like quality during this period since Mercury is v/c (void of course, a bit like Moon v/c). Squabbles tend to happen today, particularly between close friends and family, so be aware that some people are a bit on edge. If you are in a romantic relationship, this can be a great night for a sexual escapade. If you are going on a first date, Venus BiQuintile Neptune can mean you finally meet “the one.” It is also a good day for creatives, as long as they take into account the above considerations.
