Denver Shootings at King Sooper 2021-03-22

In our post about the Georgia Spa Killings of March 16, 2021, we stated in reference to the Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist) pattern in the Vernal Equinox of 2021 (first day of Spring AND the Astrological New Year) that “Other Tragedies May Follow.”  Sadly, this has proven to be true: the “Denver Shootings at King Sooper #33” in Boulder, Colorado on March 22, 2021 are exactly the kind of event we feared.

Information is sketchy. We have no name for the shooter at this time and certainly no birth data.  (But, unconfirmed information is circulating.)  (Update: March 23rd @ 1248 CDT Plano TX : Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold has identified the suspect : “Al Aliwi Alissa,” 21, a Syrian-born man and resident of Arvada, Colorado  Birth Data : Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa’s date of birth has been reported as 4/17/1999. No birth time is available (yet), but we have proposed possible natal charts for Al Aliwi Alissa.)

Timing of events is missing; We are using 5:33 CDT (time of announcement on CBS News in Dallas) and treating the chart more like an horary (in reverse, like “Jeopardy”) with adjustments to Boulder, Colorado.

Update: Police Chief Maris Herold has provided useful timing that we will use for future analysis: (1) police arrived on the scene at approximately 2:40 PM MDT and (2) the suspect was taken into custody at 3:28 PM MDT.  Since we are receiving this information during a Moon v/c period (Moon in Cancer, so she “performeth somewhat” according to William Lilly.), we will wait on publishing any additional analysis (or analyses) until later.

An aside : Numerology: 2021-03-22 reduces to a nine (9) and disappears leaving the store #: Store #33!

To be certain, this chart does not easily give up its secrets. But, digging into it is worthwhile. We will first cover the key points, expand them, then provide the various filtered versions of the chart to support our analysis.

Key Points

The following points matter:
– Like the Atlanta shooter chart, this is a death chart, and for the same reasons
– Asc is in the first three degrees of Virgo (“too early to tell”) and more information will be forthcoming, possibly after the moon changes signs (from its home in Cancer into Leo); BUT Regulus is on the ascendant, also, and that raises important issues about “avoiding revenge.”- Algol is conjunct MC of chart: among other things, Algol is about beheadings (literal) and “losing your head” (doing terrible things that ruin your life)
– Three objects are key in this chart: Mercury, Mars, and Vesta
– Uranus, Pluto, and the Nodes are also important, but they are part of a bigger picture, a worrisome configuration that extends beyond the events of this chart
– Mercury / Vesta and the Nodes form a Grand Cross (Mars is part of it)
– A “Golden Yod” is present: two biquintile objects that quintile each other and have an apex planet; the legendary “abuse of power” is in play here
– A Hele is present (an ongoing Hele, and this is about politics more than the details of the shooting)
– Other aspects are also in play (particularly with Sun and Chiron) also

The Denver Shooter Chart is a Death Chart

The casual observer might say, “that’s obvious.” But, we mean this is a death chart in a technical sense. Here’s why:

The ruler of the 8th is in the 10th. The 8th house cusp of this chart is Aries, and the ruler of Aries (Mars) is in the 10th House (and this brings fame). THAT makes sense given that the chart is an ANNOUNCEMENT of the deaths.
However, at least some (if not all) of the shootings happened earlier, and that means MORE planets are in the 8th, possibly as many as the 8th House Stellium of the chart of the start of the Atlanta Shootings.

Those two facts (Ruler of the 8th in the 10th; 8th House Stellium) make this a death chart.

Ascendant (“Too Early to Tell”)

Asc is in the first three degrees of Virgo (“too early to tell”) and more information will be forthcoming, possibly after the moon changes signs (from its home in Cancer into Leo)
Given “considerations” used by Horary practitioners, particularly those that follow the work of William Lily, this chart is not “fit to be read.”
Practically speaking, that means the story will change. Facts have been concealed (probably by the police since this is an “ongoing investigation”), and our view of the events will likely undergo some changes later.
Regulus is at the ascendant. Regulus is ordinarily a beneficial (and powerful!) star that promises success “if revenge is avoided.” A certain individual has been identified as possibly being a shooter (we will withhold the name until later), and this particular individual has a history of attempting to engage in “revenge.” (Are we surprised where this led?) Update: (March 23rd @ 1424 CDT (Plano TX) : The shooter has been identified, and also had “revenge” issues, but different from the initial individual who was incorrectly singled out by unidentified internet sources.  Again, “too early to tell” at the time of the announcement on network television.)

Algol at Midheaven

Algol, the most malefic of fixed stars, is at Midheaven of the chart, the most powerful position.  We have written about Algol (“the ghoul”) and how malefic it is a number of times in the past, particularly with the Vernal Equinox of 2010.

Mercury, Mars, and Vesta

We already have explored Vesta in the recent Atlanta shooting analysis. We will say, here, that we note that a police officer was among the ten victims who were murdered.

But, that is not the end of the story. Mercury is square Mars, one of the most malefic planetary aspects (the others are variants on Mars or Pluto). Again, like Algol at MC, that is a powerful pronouncement.

BUT, Mercury is opposite Vesta (“exact,” meaning less than a degree and “partile”); Vesta squares Mars also; the three form a T-Square.
But, when is a T-Square not a T-Square? The answer is “when it is part of a Grand Cross.” In this case, the nodes are in play with Mars applying to a conjunction with the North Node (and, therefore, opposite the South Node). Include the nodes, and we have a Grand Cross in play.

Uranus, Pluto, and the Nodes

We could stop and have a successful analysis of this chart. But, as is popular to say among late night advertisers, “but wait, there’s more!” And, there is.
Uranus is sesquiquadrate the South Node and Pluto is sesquiquadrate the North Node. This is the most disturbing aspect of the chart since, similar to the Thor’s Hammer in the Vernal Equinox, it is a longer term kind of effect, signaling a series of problems involving death and violence during this period.

We may see a rash of shooters, mixed in with weather disasters and other devastating events.

Golden Yod (5th Harmonic)

A Golden Yod is present. This SHOULD be a benevolent pattern, but it gives an enormous amount of power (and encourages abuse of power). Adolf Hitler had one of these in his birth chart. More specifically, Moon and Uranus form a Golden Yod with the South Node at the Apex.

In Karmic terms, this shooter has participated in similar dramas for many lifetimes. So far, he has not learned the lesson.

Hele

A hele is present. This will be politicized, just as the Atlanta Shootings has been.

The Algol Twins

Though I try to stay politically neutral as much as possible, I feel I must write this short piece before too much more time passes.  I am going “out on a limb” by making an early prediction of sorts.  And, I note that this is not the “only path” for us.  But it is one that many people may come to favor.

Jeb Bush’s birthday is February 13th.  That means he is in his solar 12th house (as I write this the night before the New Hampshire primary), the weakest period for him (or anyone else in the same situation) all year long.  Soon, he will be in his strong period.

Bush’s Sun squares Algol, and Kasich’s Sun conjoins Algol.  Although I may elaborate in updates to this post, I have written about Algol elsewhere.  The ancients considered it the most malefic star in the Zodiac.  Others may be malefic, but nothing compares to Algol.

In all fairness, some amazing creatives have been associated with Algol birthdays.  George Lucas is one of them (May 13th).  But, still, it is a rather scary star.  And, I do note that Mr. Lucas has done much to help us get in touch with our “Dark Side.”

My nickname for Bush / Kasich is the “Algol Twins.”  Do not be surprised to see them suddenly surge ahead and share a ticket in November.  And, if they do, it will be “business as usual” as under any other Bush administration regardless of any promises they might make at this time.

If they do come to power (either individual or both together), expect to see harsh solutions.

We note, first, that the astrological new year (as well as a number of other new years) occurs at the time of the Vernal Equinox, often called “the first day of Spring.”  That said, here are charts for the turn of the calendar from 2014 to 2015.  We start with Plano (local to the astrologer) and proceed through London, New York City, and Los Angeles.

We note that ascendant and lunar position only vary slightly, and positions of other heavenly bodies vary little at all.  Nevertheless, here are the charts:

The days leading up to this event have been interesting.  December 26th had a Double Yod Key, indicating important decision making after Christmas.  (No doubt some of this is related to the Christmas Day Drama of 2014.)

Marysville School Shootings

The Marysville school shootings occurred the day after the New Moon and the day before the Mercury Direct Station, sandwiched between the two.  After some of the earlier activity (Rosetta and so forth), an event of this kind is not surprising.

What seems a bit odd, however, is the timing.  (Why sandwiched between the Eclipse and the Direct Station?  Midpoints of some kind?)

Here is the chart for when “the first 911 calls came in“:

As one can easily see, it is a bit of a messy chart.  But we expect that most of the key events have occurred once 911 calls start happening.  Consequently, a rectified chart seems in order.  (This situation seems commonplace in school shootings and certain other similar tragedies.)

Here is one rectified chart.  (Note that, now, a 12th house stellium results from setting the chart not quite an hour earlier.)

The 12th house often represents victims, and in this chart it is full.  (Compare this to the Boston Marathon Bombing chart.  There, the 7th has Neptune and Chiron (the house of “open enemies” has the two brothers), and the 8th house (the “death house,” and one of the three water houses, along with the 12th and the 4th) has a stellium.)  We also note that this chart (Saturn rising) has the 12th house cusp at 29 Scorpio (the most “fated” degree of that sign).

Leo / Aquarius are intercepted here, and Jupiter is within the interception.  Curiously, Jaylen Fryberg (the shooter) had been elected “Homecoming Prince.”  (Leo is associated with “royalty,” and intercepted signs or houses are (severely) distressed.)  Juno (trust and betrayal) is also nearby in Leo (and intercepted as well).  Both Jupiter and Juno are in the 9th house of schools.

We also see Chiron (the Wounded Healer) just past the 4th house cusp (typically “home” but also graves and “final resting place”), and Neptune approaching it.  (Again, compare this to the Boston Marathon Bombing chart.  Both charts have Chiron/Neptune at Angular positions.  Also, compare this chart to that of the Sandy Hook shootings.)

Since this is nearly an hour prior to the first 911 calls, we are guessing that the true “beginning” of the event was when the text messages were initially sent, and that the shooter began sending the text messages to “invite” the victims to “lunch.”  We also note that, on a somewhat larger scale, Saturn is moving into an opposition with Algol.

Still, this chart lacks the clarity of some other charts we have analyzed.  (We had a similar question regarding location on the much cleaner West, Texas Explosion chart.)  In many ways, this chart (and event) remain an enigma.

(We add, in parting, that Sun (peregrine, a thief) is quincunx (false hopes) Astraea (justice).

Translation: an injustice that will possibly never be resolved.)

Perhaps certain details will always remain a mystery.

2013 Full Moon (Algol Squares: Taurus / Scorpio)

The event obviously tied to this full moon (typhoon Haiyan aka Yolanda) occurred BEFORE the culmination of this most malefic of FM’s.  We provide the chart, here, set in first in Tacloban (we note the Moon at MC and the Sun at the IC; the IC is the location of a “grave” and the FM culminates close to midnight local time) and then Plano.  We also note that this was the FM following a Mercury retrograde, and it occurs during a period of difficulty discussed in an earlier post.  We also note a sextile, a tight one, between Pluto (death & rebirth) and Chiron (healing, lessons learned) at this time.

If your personal belief system supports such a notion, this would be a good time to have a ceremony, perhaps just lighting a candle, to honor and remember the dead.

Swan (aka Yol) and the Chiron return

Hi,

Thanks for your post. It definitely picked my curiosity and I hope you can help me out here, since my life has been quite a struggle for the past few years… I am a Gemini with both Moon and Ascendant in Scorpio (born 6/6/1960 at 17:30 in Mexico City, Mexico), and I wonder how Saturn moving into Scorpio will affect me? Thank you for your insight!!!

Four key points are noted on the resulting chart:

  1. Ascendant / Descendant are at the Algol point.  Specifically, she has “Algol setting” (at the point where the Sun sets).  This is the 7th house cusp, the 7th being associated with relationships (especially marriages and financial relationships) and “open enemies.”  In a word, her relationships tend to be “difficult.”  Necessarily, this means she has a scorpio ascendant and has likely had a lifetime of significant power struggles.
  2. She has Moon conjunct Neptune in the 12th, both in Scorpio.  People with a Scorpio moon tend to have strong convictions and strong emotions.  Often she has deep feelings that she does not want anyone to know about.  But, both Neptune and the 12th house are the “revealer” and, together, they often force her secrets into the open.  She may have had a lifetime forcing the secrets of others into the open.  If she is a counselor, then this can be benevolent.  In any case, she can be highly intuitive but wrestles with mistaken notions.  She has to double check every contract and every financial instrument.  Things are often not as they appear.
  3. She has both Jupiter and Saturn in the 2nd house.  She can make money, but she has to make an extra effort to hold onto it.  The money has a tendency to slip through her hands.
  4. The most important point: she has been going through her Chiron return.  Not discussed as much, this is similar to a Saturn return, comes about 50 years of age, and visits most people only once in a lifetime.  Her Chiron is part of her grand water trine (if you allow Chiron to do such things), and that profoundly affects her finances and emotional relationships.  Given her Moon and Neptune configuration, she may have a child or grandchild in need of financial assistance.  The situation is a difficult one that might involve drugs, alcohol, or some form of sickness.  In any case, she will have to take a hard look at her own wounds.  Her best way of healing herself will be in terms of helping others.  If she has any “bad karma” from the past, then this is the time to process it and move forward.

To answer her question: “Saturn’s movement into Scorpio will greatly affect you next year.  You should look back at your life 28 to 30 years ago.  What is more important for you, though, is to critically examine the effect that the Chiron return is having upon your life.”

Megan’s First Saturn Return

I’m new to astrology and your blog, LOVE it! This month, my chart looks like a boobie-trap, so thanks for the heads up! I’m in the middle of my 1st Saturn return, with Scorp Sun AND Venus, both at 9degrees, both in the 10th house. Any astro clarity=good.

We use Astrolog 5.4 for this chart and see that she has recently (the past year) had transiting Saturn touch the place of her natal Saturn:

Megan is a Scorpio with the Signs of Capricorn and Cancer intercepted by the 1st and 7th houses, respectively.  She has almost all of her planets in the 10th through 1st houses, with the notable exception of her lone 5th house Moon in Taurus.  She was born roughly a day after the Full Moon, and her Moon is conjunct Algol.  Mercury is located in the fated 29th degree of Libra.  Saturn will soon touch her Mercury, and she will need to focus on “getting the details right” is she is not already doing so.

Having the Moon conjunct Algol gives her a clear cut choice in life: she either takes the very highest of the high road or the lowest of the low road.  She could easily be a “party girl” and is at risk for engaging in a career that is criminal in nature.  She will be attracted to work such as “collections” where she takes money from others.

But, she is capable of saintly occupations, such as being the nurse that “makes the difference” (saving people’s lives).  Which direction she heads is entirely her choice, but the things she says (and that people say to her, if her temper is in play) tend to “seal her fate.”  She must learn to watch her words (as well as the words of others).

We note that she has Moon conjunct Chiron.  This gives her a powerful potential to be a healer, a teacher, or both.  When she is wounded she feels it far more deeply than others.  She is so profoundly Scorpionic that the temptation for revenge can be too much.  (Does she watch the television show of that name?)

We hope she takes the “high road.”  That is never easy, but the “low road” for her is the scariest possible scenario, because she has so much more potential than most other people to go either “low” or “high.”

 

 

2012 August Mercury Retrograde and More

Wondering what is coming up in the rest of August, 2012?
August 7/8 (depending on time zone): Mercury Retrograde:  We like the Cafe Astrology treatment of this upcoming Direct Station.  Regardless of your natal sun sign, the few days after the direct station are a good time to launch something.  The two weeks after the direct station (and before the retrograde station) can have some rough spots, but consider launching anyway.  Sometimes (overdue) things come to instead.  Whether this is “good” or “bad” depends on your values and what you have done in the past.

August 17: New Moon: This late Leo new moon perfects in all U.S. time zones, England, and Western European (and some Eastern European) time zones on this date.  As with all New Moons, the week before is a good time to clean out and throw away, especially if you plan to return to school this fall.  You can probably find some great sale items in this period but BE CERTAIN TO CLEAN OUT FIRST.  The ten day period from the Direct Station to the New Moon is probably a good time to do this.  If you can, think about giving something to someone who can use it or someone less fortunate.  Avoid the landfill if you can.

Although I will not delineate the details in this particular blog post, this is an unusually important new moon because of its location (25 Leo).  Both 15 Leo and 25 Leo have long been a source of controversy.  This New Moon squares Algol, among other things.  (Although Algol is now at 26 Taurus, for most people born prior to the year 2000 it was at 25 Taurus.  And, the orb for a New Moon is typically 5 degrees.) We have discussed a Moon / Algol activation elsewhere, and it began a period of time characterized by a coal mine disaster, large loss of life in an airliner crash in Eastern Europe, and that culminated the Deepwater Horizon disaster.  (We are guessing that the chain of events here could also extend a similar period of time.)

This New Moon also precisely opposes the Aquarius Moon (25 Aquarius) of the United States’ “Scorpio Rising” chart.  (This article about that chart and U.S. Presidents is interesting.)  A brief check of the history of August 17, in general, shows a remarkable number of military operations on this date.

The period ranging from August 14th through the end of August looks like a period of instability with potential for a significant disaster of some kind.  The New Moon looks especially risky.  And, again, this period may extend as far as the Autumnal Equinox.

The period before a new moon is often used for fasting for both physical and spiritual reasons.  It can be a very good time for weight loss, so you might successfully start a diet the day after the Mercury Direct station.  Some yoga practitioners conduct a brown rice fast at this time.  And, pray for peace.

August 21/22: Sun Enters Virgo: about 3 to 4 hours prior to the entry of the Sun into Virgo BOTH the Sun and the Moon are void.  Most of us are asleep at this time.  BUT, this is a very good time to “let go” of things.  You will want the precise times for your time zone.  Locally, in Plano, the period begins shortly after 2am and ends just past noon.  (That is not three to four hours, but the Moon leaves its void and enters Scorpio about 4am.  But the Sun does not enter Virgo until just past Noon.  And, THAT is when the period is completely finished.)

Try not to to schedule anything important during this period.  Again, the best use of this period is to “let go” of something, “break a habit,” start weaning a child, or something similar.

PRIOR to this period, for most or all of August 21st, is a period that is probably extremely useful for creative problem solving and/or brainstorming.  This is a good time to develop a plan, or solve any nagging problems, as a prelude to the period of “letting go” described above.

Mars is also void starting about an hour earlier (1am locally) until a bit past 10am on Thursday, August 23rd.  If you could extend your “letting go” period until this time, then that would be even better.  Many of us cannot do that.  So, keep things routine until past the 23rd.  (But, the Mercury sextile Jupiter the evening (Plano) of August 22nd would be a good time to write letters, poetry, novels, etc.  Just do not mail them or act on them until Thursday afternoon or later.

August 24:  Sun (Virgo) opposes Neptune (Pisces).  Great for poetry and insights.  A possibility of illness, especially for Gemini, Virgo, Sadge, and Pisces.  If you are an alcoholic, drug addict, or “just party too much,” then a risky day for you.  Moon in Sadge makes this aspect a T-Square and picks up Chiron in the process.  It is a tough day, though Jim Shawvan finds an Opportunity Period here.

August 25: Mars Trines Neptune either late Saturday (Plano & East Coast) or Sunday (California).  This is a very good time for “smooth talkers” and a bad time for those who tend to be even a little bit gullible.  Essentially the aspect governs the day, and probably the prior Thursday and Friday, and makes this a risky time for many.  Just do not believe ANYthing a politician says at this time.  They, and the talking heads on TV (including financial sector), just cannot be believed.  Sign nothing.  Commit to nothing.  Pay close attention to whomever you meet at this time.

For some, Sunday will be a day of reckoning when the Moon enters Capricorn and then conjoins Pluto.

August 29th: Sun (Virgo) trines Pluto (Capricorn).  Financial services industry becomes “interesting” again.  People coming back to school find this day difficult.  Power struggles emerge, and bullies pick this day to assert themselves.  (Proper planning, but not action, on the 24/25th can shift this.)

Mercury (late Leo) sextile Saturn (late Libra) creates an atmosphere of semi-panic about overdue work consequent to procrastination that must be finished now.  Students experience the first truly difficult homework of the semester.  Other find things left from earlier this summer (Mercury retrograde) that were not done but now must be completed (possibly by the nearby end of August).

August 30th:  Sun (Virgo) opposes Chiron (Pisces) causing old dramas to re-surface.  For some returning to school at this time, this will be a difficult day.  Some of the pain may be consequent to events that occur the day before.  The Sun is also inconjunct Uranus (Aries), and by itself that would make this a difficult day.  If that happened by itself, that would make today difficult, but more happens.  Then, Mercury goes void (that can be a hair raising time) about 1pm (Plano, CDT) and stays that way until about 9:30p Friday.  Watch what you say; words may be difficult to impossible to “take back.”

The waxing full Moon is felt most strongly this evening, and being in Virgo/Pisces secrets will slip out and you WILL tend to say things you regret.  This is a great night (and day) to stay home unless you are one of the slick teflon people mentioned earlier.  This would also be a good evening for the police to “go after” slick teflon people.

August 31st:  Full Moon.  In addition to the above issue with Mercury, the Moon goes full on Friday morning.  This is a Piscean Full Moon opposite a Virgo Sun.  Moon (Pisces) sextiles Pluto (Capricorn) first (a bit more power struggle), immediately joins Chiron (the wounded healer) which leaves certain people contrite and others feeling an (overdue) sense of justice, opposes the Sun (spilling more secrets), and then squares Jupiter (Gemini).  This last one might lead to unnecessary expenses or overeating.  (Or might lead to a need for bail money for some of the teflon guys.)  This is a VERY good time for police to conduct criminal investigations and make arrests.

September 1st: Another Teflon Saturday.  Mercury (Virgo) opposes Neptune (Pisces) and more people spill secrets they should keep to themselves.  This is a very good day for writing poetry and song lyrics.  And, all of this Neptune / Pisces activity (since the previous weekend) is very good for filmmakers and photographers.  Artists will like this time.  But, don’t spill the beans if you can avoid it.

When is Algol Day?  The annual Solar conjunction to Algol began May 16th and will be finished after May 17th.  We have felt the influence a few days before as we came out of a Mercury retrograde, and we will feel it a few days more as we continue to enter a particularly powerful (and rare) Grand Cross.

If you are not reevaluating your position now, then you should.  If you want to “jump ship” and take your life a different direction, the next week or so will give almost everyone a chance to do just that.  What do you want to be when you grow up?

Now that routine forecasting is on Weekend Forecast, Grand Trines can be devoted to more exotic subjects.

Given the season of havoc that has occurred recently, after Moon CNJ Algol at the time of the Spring Equinox, we will pick up with Mercury CNJ Algol, for 2010, as a topic.

Mercury Conjunct Algol on June 7th

Continuing with the position of the Moon Conjunct Algol at the Vernal Equinox as a topic of interest, Mercury will touch that point a number of times this year.  This is a potent activator.  The Sun as an activator is a topic for another post; Lunar returns are obvious (but also a topic for another post).  Venus is interesting and has been briefly analyzed; upon touching Algol it produced a number of tornadoes in Texas as well as a devastating oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico (the “Deepwater Horizon” catastrophe).  Outer planets are an entirely different topic warranting a number of posts.

That said, Mercury is currently retrograde and overdue (pardon the wordplay) for an analysis.  For fun, we are looking initially at higher order harmonics: quintile & septile.  Here is the chart for Mercury touching Algol on June 7th, focused on higher order harmonics:

Pluto BiQuintiles both the Moon and Mercury providing a sense of urgency here.  The mood is one of “we have to get things done.”  Powerplays are a certainty; could they lead to disaster?  For any willing to speculate on this chart and aspects, the remainder can be addressed in comments.

Outside of the topic of disasters, some people / organizations will be able to accomplish some amazing work in creative areas at this time.  But, they would be wise to make safety paramount.

Quintile Kites circa June 7, 2010

“Venus Squares Neptune” is a feel good aspect that tends to leave us in love, even if it is for nothing else but the spring day at hand.  This one is for Venus just past Algol, which points out that Neptune is only a few degrees past a separating square from Algol.  Said differently, our daydreaming can be quite dangerous.

The worst danger, here, will be “investing” in something or believing something is “sold” which is only illusion.  Have a happy day, but do not do anything too serious if you can avoid it.

Saturday is better, a day full of trines.  This is also a feel good day, but what you do today could have more permanence.

The offshore drilling rig explosion, the Deepwater Horizon, needs to be added to Algol’s list of casualties.  May is tornado month, so do not be surprised if we have a record number of tornadoes, or record severity, this year.

Venus Touches Algol: USA Map

West Coast Turmoil Expected

California is particularly activated by this event with Sun on the Descendant on Sacramento (possibly indicating an important announcement by the governor or other high profile official).  Moon and Mars lines bracket much of the state indicating a call for action, and violence if that call to action is not heeded.  California based companies may be in, or enter, signficant disputes.  The recent debacle for Apple regarding the lost iPhone may escalate.

Seattle / Portland are similarly affected; Microsoft may find themselves in their own disputes.

Water Disputes in the West

Moving eastward, we see a Mercury line passing through Phoenix.  Since Mercury and Mars are square, the most “interesting” disputes may emerge between companies on the West Coast (especially California) and Phoenix.  This could manifest as an escalation of an water disputes in that region.  (Western Colarado & Arizona, Nevada, and Southern California.  Refer to map.)

Danger in Mexico Likely to Escalate

Further eastward, Chiron / Neptune (especially important lately, and astrologically the key activator in the recent West Virginia mine explosion) passes through the midwest, near Eastern Colorado, through the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas into a region between Guadalajara and Mexico City.  What this means for these regions is difficult to say, but possibly something along the line of an earthquake, explosion, or airline crash.  (Could a volcano suddenly sprout here?)

The Venus line, the most dreaded in this map, passes through the Great Lakes  and near Milwaukee & Chicago.  Most of Illinois is affected.  Missouri and western Arkansas are affected, as the line continues through eastern Texas between Dallas and Houston.  The southern coast of Texas (especially near Corpus Christi) is highly affected.  This same line passes between Guadalajara and Mexico City, also.  Coupled with the Chiron/Neptune line, this indicates that the region between Guadalaja and Mexico City is currently highly dangerous.

East Coast

Virginia and the Carolinas are likely to benefit from this time. A Jupiter line brings favor especially in areas involving the poetry, music, and the arts in general. Scientists in these areas (Virginia, Research Triangle) may make important discoveries at this time.

However, the corridor from New York to Boston is plagued by the current Saturn/Uranus opposition. A powerful tension between authority and rebellion exists, and the outcomes to the many disputes related to this dynamic are not predictable. We can only predict that we cannot predict. But, authority that survives will be strengthened. In many settings, only the structure, or “bones,” (Saturn = skeleton/bones) will be left. (This is a metaphorical analysis, or so we hope.)

Europe

Europe continues to be in predictable turmoil. No astrology or rocket science is needed; the volcano is enough. But, the map signals unrest in Northern Ireland and Scotland. This does not look like violence and probably is just sequelae to the volcano. Birmingham, England is touched by a Mars line which is considerably more dangerous and could signal significant danger.

Oslo, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, and Valenica are all connected here by a Neptune line but NOT with Chiron nearby (that passes through the UK). What this means is difficult to say. In the low form it can be criminality and cheats but in high form in can benefit poetry, music, and the arts. I suspect that communications between people in this region and Virginia/Carolinas can be particularly “interesting” especially if involving film or video production. Music, photography and other arts are favored as well. However, Neptune often obscures, so this might be just where the volcano cloud is currently worst.

Eastern Europe is highly activated by both Jupiter and Uranus, with the Jupiter line passing through Naples. This is sometimes called the “Lotto” aspects because Jupiter/Uranus is associated with Lotto winnings. But, as Lee Lehman once said (at UAC 98), Jupiter can also cause “spectacular losses.” (Her emphasis is truly lost in the written word.) Jupiter makes things big, and Uranus includes accidents and explosions, so this could be a dangerous region, but dangerous in a very different way from Mexico. (Here the events are likely accidents, but in Mexico likely intentional violence.)

Australia and New Zealand

New Zealand is activated by Chiron and Neptune.  This has been discussed earlier, but what particular variety of risk this might bring to NZ is not clear to this astrologer.  Best guess is a Tsunami secondary to an earthquake, but could be other events.

Australia has activations at Alice Springs, Melbourne, and Hobart.  Hobart is especially activated, and important news should be expected from there.  The news will likely be “uncomfortable” but not very unexpected.  Some kind of drama unfolding there finally reaches a turning point that could easily garner national attention.

Asia

India is most profoundly affected with the Chiron/Neptune line passing near Delhi and thoughout central India.  An event that galvanizes the entire nation into action could easily occur today.  Whatever it is, it will signal a need for reforms.  This kind of event could signal the rise of consumerism and additional consumer protections in India.

Hanoi, and most of Viet Nam, are affected by Pluto, Saturn, and Uranus.  In addition to signaling some important aspect of a “changing of the guard,” this could tie this region to the New York/Boston corridor.  Old issues related to the Viet Nam conflict may surface for both the United States and Viet Nam.  Little danger is expected, but the experiences may seem painful and difficult.  Do not be surprised if American GI bodies are found and returned at this time.

Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur are favored by a Jupiter line.  They need some relief, and (even though Venus touches Algol is generally very bad) they will get some.

The same is true for Tokyo and Japan.  And, Tokyo and Japan will find themselves intricately involved with the dramas in Sacramento, California, and the West (U.S.), mentioned earlier.  This could be financial involvement, as Japan collectively decides that it must prevent any further decline in California because of crucial interdependence with California.  Although this idea will be challenged on both sides of the Pacific, Japan will decidedly benefit if it follows such as course of action.

Focused Yod of April 16 to April 19, 2010

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

The period from April 16th to April 22nd will be a turning point, as indicated by a prolonged Focused Yod.  The Focused Yod requires a decision; one road is chosen and the other no longer available.

A Focused Yod had been in play from April 16th (Friday) until April 19th (Monday, tomorrow). This one is not a series involving Ascendants and Midheaven. In this one, Saturn is opposite Uranus, and the Sun on one side sextiles Neptune and Chiron on the other side. This is a period of crucial decision making, and the impact will be at least a year in length. (This will be a historically important period.  A real risk of one or more Coup d’état or revolution(s) is in play.)  This also includes “revolutions” in personal relationships.  This is an “out with the old and in with the new” period.  Should I stay or should I go?

Curiously, the Lunar Return for the recent Spring Equinox occurred during the beginning of this period.  (That is, Moon Conjunct Algol.)  For those who do not regularly read this blog, Moon Conjunct Algol precisely at the time of the Spring Equinox was the marker for the earthquakes, mine explosions, airplane crashes, and volcanoes of the past month.  (For more info, click and read the link.)  In the words of Economists, it could be called a “leading indicator.”  For you personally, should should take a hard look at what has happened since March 20th.  Is this how you want your life to be?  Or are you willing to take a risk, maybe a dangerous risk, to try something new?

Or have “things” been too dangerous lately and you believe you should stick close to home?

In this post, we will also consider the chart of Venus touching this sensitive point, the following Moon / Mars Conjunction, and a few patterns in that window.  (And, we will consider Sun, Mercury, & Venus touching this point, along with maps, in an upcoming article.)  The period of April 21/22 has great potential to be at least as volatile as anything we have seen in the past 30 days. This kind of thing will continue until roughly the middle of May.

This Lunar Return chart, with the Moon at Algol, coincides with the beginning of the Focused Yod period of April 16 to April 19.  The Moon, Saturn, and Chiron/Neptune form a Triangle (looks like one of the Huber Patterns) of Moon Trine Saturn, Saturn Inconjunct Chiron/Neptune, and Chiron/Neptune Square Moon.  This Triangle conveys a sense of urgency combined with confusion peaking at 28/29 Taurus.

Finally, Moon, Mercury, and Venus are in the 8th House of Death & Taxes.

It was a very bad Friday night for a first date.

Having looked at the Lunar Return chart, let us turn to April 21st (also labelled “Lunar Return” by Solar Fire), when Venus touches this same sensitive point (Venus rules Taurus, where Algol is located, so this is important).  The quickly following Moon / Mars conjunction appears involved (which is at 9 Leo, possibly interacting with the 8 Scorp / 8 Cap points of the 2012 Winter’s Solstice).

Once a month, the Moon touches Mars.  By itself, that is not particularly odd or unusual.  But, this conjunction (a potentially violent or dangerous one) occurs within a few hours of Venus touching Algol.  A Thor’s Hammer (or God’s Fist) is located on each side of the precise moment of this aspect.  (Charts omitted.)

The Thor’s Hammer pattern indicates periods of perceived urgency that are often associated with violence, explosions, and rushing in where others fear to tread.  These are times when you should think twice before doing something rash.  But, some of you will use this energy to switch to a newer, better, environment.  Only you know your situation.

Mercury Retrograde April 2010 and Focused Yod

This Retrograde Station seems to be keeping in the times of earthquakes, airliner crashes, and mine explosions. The Algol Moon of the Spring Equinox seems to have indicated this as well. We see, with this station, a Focused Yod that last several days, through April 19th, a Double Yod Key the hour before the exact moment of the station, and a Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist) the hour after the exact moment.

From a personal perspective, this is likely to be a difficult weekend in which old dramas are rehashed and tensions increase as accidents occur.  As is always true at this time of year, tragic accidents with teens or college students are almost certain to happen.  Please make extra efforts to keep you and yours safe.

Mercury Retrograde in General

Mercury Retrograde has a bad reputation, and it deserves it. It is associated with communications and transportations problems that bring us to a halt or even make us move backward. This particular retrograde lasts until May 11th of this year. That is a little long for a Mercury Retrograde.

Previously this year we had a Mecury Retrograde that started in December of 2009 and concluded January 15th. We will have two more this year: (1) August 20th until September 12th and (2) December 10th until December 29th.

Mercury Retrograde does have uses. The core issue in MR is double checking everything or suffer the consequences. Earthquakes reveal shoddy construction where what was needed was not what was done. Mine explosions elucidate shortcuts in safety that caused lost lives. Airplane crashes likely show similar factors.

Thursday, about 48 hours ago, this astrologer saw a five car pileup on North Central Expressway (NCX) here in Dallas (aka DFW or “the Metroplex”). Transportation (and communication) especially suffers from events such as tailgating in this period.

Besides highlighting what needs to be done, MR also is a period where efforts to retrieve that which was lost may be successful. Frozen projects may be thawed. Items lost in the closet, shed, or garage may be found. This is a very good time to clean and organize and profit from those efforts.

Here is the chart for this MR, followed by specific charts and analysis for the Focused Yod (this is about making crucial decisions).

Noteworthy are the highly active midpoint trees for Saturn (authority), Uranus (accidents, explosions, earthquakes, etc.)  and Chiron (the need to teaching and healing).


The Focused Yod

The Focused Yod of this period, which lasts for several days, is likely the most important pattern.  This is a period of crucial decision making.  Mercury Retrograde here says the we must take the time to slow down and do things write.  Familiar with the old saying “there is never enough time to do things right but always enough time to do things over”?  Here, we are having to do things over.  And, if we do not get it right this time, we will probably revisit again, and again.  The next to “opportunities” to get it right are late August and mid December.  Probably best to get it right, now.

This Focused Yod has Saturn (authority) in one of many of a series of oppositions to Uranus.  The issues here are large scale and will be revisited in years to come.  But this period, the next few days, will be seen in history as a turning point in this conflict between old authority and new revolutionary (but sometimes a bit “nuts”) ideas.  Neptune and Chiron suggest insights blended with confusion on one side of the decisions.  The Sun, which is management and authority (neither new nor old) is on the other side.  Traditionally, that which is today represented by Uranus (Prometheus) was represented by Saturn as well.  Saturn was viewed as most distant from the Sun, and “opposite” as Aquarius (Uranus) from Leo (Sun).

So, here, a “good” decision is possible that does not heal the problem.  We will all like it, but the solution will not be nearly as long lasting as the problem.  This is solution found in the Sun (one year orbit) will not last as long as the problem(s) (Saturn, 28 year orbit, opposite Uranus, 84 year orbit).  Worthy of note: the orbit of Uranus is a multiple of three of that of Saturn.  Every time Uranus returns to a particular place, Saturn has orbited three times.  In a sense, this means Uranus ultimately “wins” over Saturn.  Change is the only constant.

The other decision, Neptune and Chiron, also LOOKS good but takes us through a time of murky unclear difficulty in which insights gained will teach us what we need to know to resolve the problem in question.

In any case, we will be unhappy (quincunx, always) and look back longingly at the ‘road not taken’ during this crucial period.  Here is the chart:

Double Yod Key

Double Yod Keys are generally considered to be a new construct in astrology.  As such, they are not fully understood.  (What pattern is?)  From recent experience, DYK’s appear to indicate multiple decisions and multiple events.  DYK’s are associated with three decisions (at least).  But, also, recently, DYK’s occurred with the triple categories of events of (1) earthquakes, (2) accidents (airplane, mine, & other), and (3) explosions (mine, terrorists, etc.).  Everything comes in threes, right?  Here is the chart of the DYK just before the precise moment of the Mercury Retrograde Station:

Note that the Ascendant is one of the four points, and it is at 25 Scorpio and continues in aspect until the Ascendant enters Sadge.  Almost certainly this point of 25 Scorpio (opposite Algol at 26 Taurus) is a harbinger of additional ill-fate.

Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist)

This Retrograde Station has a Thor’s Hammer about an hour after the station.  It is yet another punctuation mark that the earthquakes, accidents, and explosions may not be over yet.  They could easily continue as Sun, Mercury, and Venus move past Algol (through May).  Here is the chart.

WVA Coal Mine Explosion April 5, 2010

What a dilemma.  The 3pm EDT chart for the explosion is “interesting,” but the 3pm EST chart looks like when it happened.  The EDT chart has a great deal of activity, but the EST chart closely corresponds to yesterday’s earthquake chart.  So, of course, both will be covered, but emphasis will be placed on the latter.  A series of key events led to this disaster, but the culmination was almost certainly at 3pm EST / 4pm EDT.  And, for those truly interested in this event, please read this analysis of the Pluto Retrograde Station on April 6th.

First here is the 3 pm EDT chart, the chart based on the reported time of the explosion:

To be certain, the five quincunx in this chart, including one to both Chiron and Neptune, show a period of instability.  Among other things, the quincunx is about misunderstandings and miscommunications.  Frankly, it is the kind of thing that could lead someone to use a clock that was never adjusted for Daylight Savings Time to report the “correct” time, and all others to then assume that the time was (of course!) DST.

From the point of view that speaks of “planetary energies,” the energy of aspects and patterns “flows” to the people and places where it can be most fully expressed.  Speaking hypothetically, if oversights, shortcuts, and miscommunications characterized this organization, then this kind of expression would emerge today.

But, if we assume that the reported time was 3pm EST (4pm EDT), then a slightly rectified chart to 2:58 EST (3:58 EDT) yields this chart:

THAT chart contains the same “Thor’s Hammer” (“God’s Fist” or “Quadriform”) as yesterday’s earthquake:

In fact, in many ways (except for the position of the Moon), this is the exact same chart as the earthquake yesterday.  The only reason that the Rosetta and the Square Key are absent are that the Moon has moved.  Note, also, that Algol is at Midheaven again.

That said, consider the following about this chart:

  1. The Moon Conjoined Pluto this morning.  Both are in Earth (Capricorn), and both form a Grand Trine (as true with the Earthquake) when the Ascendant moves into early Virgo near the 3:58 pm EDT time.  At the time of the conjunction of both, they were both quincunx Mars in early Leo.  This sequence of events was in play early this morning as the shift began for this particular group of miners.
  2. Algol is at Midheaven again, a sign that does happen once a day, but with other aspects in play an omen of death, particularly gruesome death.  (Okay, really all death is gruesome, but….)
  3. Chiron is again angular on the descendant, precisely as it was for the earthquake.

Predictions:

  1. Approximately 2:50am to 3am on April 6th a key discovery or announcement will be made.  Unclear is whether living will be found or more dead, but a key discovery will happen at “about” 3am (give it 30 minutes “fudge factor” on each side: 2:30am to 3:30am).
  2. Another key point will occur earlier, about 2:11am.  Here, either more dead will be found (specifically more dead) or a crucial omission or cause of the explosion discovered, or more likely both.  A sense of outrage will erupt among those who hear about this, and the company will have difficulty keeping this secret as a secret instead of an announcement.
  3. An additional “Thor’s Hammer” involving the Ascendant, Mars, and Mercury will emerge at 1am and will endanger rescue crews.  A possible loss of life to rescue crews may occur at this time.  If such a loss occurs, it will be due to an error made about 0029 or 0030 EDT when Saturn (opposing Uranus) touches Midheaven (or Uranus is at or near IC).
  4. Another crucial turning point will occur at roughly 4:30am.  Here, both the Midheaven (MC) and Saturn are highly activated.  By 5:49 am the process that begins at about 4:30am will likely reveal the fate of the miners (and possibly the company) as the Moon conjoins the North Node.  (The North Node is the point of Karma and Fate).  6:51 am will be another turning point as Pluto reaches Midheaven.  As the “God of the Underworld” is brought to the highest point in the sky, this will be the most clear assessment (until this point in time) of the extent of the damage.  More dead may be found at this time, but this kind of “opening of the crypt” might find living.  In either case, 6:51am is important.
  5. A mere 50 minutes later, at about 7:40am, another key turning point will be reached as the Node (Karma) reaches the Midheaven (MC).  Almost certainly this will signify that a new team will need to relieve the team that made the 4:30 discoveries.  For safety reasons, no particular team should work more than four (4) hours at a time here.  This discovery will be punctuated by more at 7:57 am and 8:02 am.  These are two of the best points for finding the living.
  6. 8:24 am will begin another period of danger for rescuers.  10:27 will begin a particularly dangerous time within that larger period of danger until about 10:33.  The larger period of danger ends about 10:50 am.  Anyone who has been up all night and not slept should try to sleep or at least rest at this time.  A new crew should prepare to take over.
  7. By 11:35 am, Pluto returns underground.  Discoveries will not be impossible but probably become more difficult. About 12:21 PM will be another particularly dangerous time for rescuers.    1:53 pm will also be especially dangerous, and begin a period of danger lasting until about 3:55pm.  Relative safety will return by 4pm or a little later.

Of course, after the Sun has returned to its place 24 hours after the initial event (the explosion), things will become different.  Each planet or star will have touched every point in every house, and made every short-term aspect (to the “angles” of the ascendant, descendant, Midheaven, & IC).  The next days that will come to pass are a topic for another post or other writers.

Make One Wish, and then Work for It

As pointed out in a comment by a reader, besides Moon Conjunct Algol, the next most important thing about this particular Spring Equinox is the relationship between Sun, Saturn, and Mars. The three of them form a pattern, probably one of the Huber patterns. At least one site describes it as a “Triangle of Potential“:

A Triangle of Potential is another fairly common pattern that comprises a trine, sextile and opposition, in other words two soft aspects and one hard aspect. In this case, the planet at the apex of the trine and sextile is the key to solving the opposition. The person will experience struggles, but by utilizing the energy of the trine and sextile will be able to make them work, so to speak. In many respects the hard aspects are what motivate us. If life was always easy we’d have a lot less incentive to grow. A Triangle of Potential will give a person just enough friction to utilize latent talents and abilities that otherwise might lie dormant.

So, the “gift” of this equinox is given by the results of  hard work.  (That is good for a number of countries in Western Europe.)

The planets and signs here give the potential to accomplish, and accomplish much. Both the Sun and Saturn are at the first degrees of their respective signs, and the Sun is at what many consider to be the most important point in the zodiac. The “solution” is found in Mars at 0 Leo (also an important point); Mars has just begun forward motion. That means old projects are being resurrected and given a second chance.

Two paths exist here: the fierce anger of Mars in early Leo and the stubborn unyielding destructive power of Algol, or using the focus given by the Taurus Moon and the energy of forward Mars in early Leo to get something done. And, by “get something done,” I do not mean death or destruction. The potential here is to bring about lasting change (Saturn is very permanent, the “bones” of anything). So, as you celebrate this Equinox, think about the one major change you want to accomplish this year, and put all of your energy into accomplishing that.
