2021 Aquarian New Moon : Double Thor’s Hammer Key + Multiple Rosetta

Lunations vary. Much as “opinions vary” (immortal words uttered by the Philosopher “Dalton” in “Road House” (played by Patrick Swayze)), lunations vary. Some are, frankly, boring. Some are more interesting.

This one is more interesting.

First of all, for many events, this New Moon (NM, hereafter) is the “trigger” associated with upcoming Saturn Square Uranus. One of my teachers said it many times: often the day of a huge, arguably “cataclysmic” outer planet event is a dull day with little to nothing compelling happening (except for births or deaths that happen on that date). But, according to my old mentor, MANY times the immediately preceding (or following) lunation (NM or FM) is a “trigger,” setting in motion critical events.

I believe that is true here. The NM of Thorsday triggers much. Some of it scares me.

Six Major Considerations for this New Moon

Here is my list of “issues” with this NM:

  1. Thor’s Hammer Key : I have never seen a book describe this (at all!) and Solar Fire (as of version 9) does NOT have a built-in search for this (I would like to see it added). Similar to a “double yod key,” the Thor’s Hammer Key (or, if you prefer, “God’s Fist Key”) is a combination of two Thor’s Hammer patterns interlaced on one side. We have that in this chart, and (similar to Adam Lanza who had a Thor’s Hammer in his birth chart) the Thor’s Hammer can make “things” go “boom.” I will not say it happens every time, but the POTENTIAL is there! (Be careful! Avoid dangerous “things” (people, places, and things. Offer a kind word rather than an angry insult. Apologize. Watch “Unhinged” again! Here is a question : Is the character played by Russell Crowe really the villain? Are you sure? How do YOU act in those situations? Would you apologize? Do you hunt someone down if they don’t apologize to you? Or, are you a doormat? Do you feel your blood boil sometimes? Did you “just want an apology” when you were having “a really bad day”? Have you felt that lately?)
  2. Rosettas, multiple and interlaced. One side opposes the other. Oddly, both sides seem cooperative. But both sides have HUGE internal battles waged “behind closed doors.” Expect the impeachment trial of Donald Trump to prove to be “interesting.” (Let’s face it, regardless of what the outcome may be, dissatisfaction will be vented extensively, maybe by BOTH sides.)
  3. 7th Harmonic activity : Karmic (always) and (sometimes) scientific or technical breakthroughs. What appears to be a four planet pattern with a trapezoidal pattern is in play. Whether or not that is true depends on how tight you set your orbs, but (if you are willing to loosen your constraints) the pattern looks interesting.
  4. 5th Harmonic : The 5th Harmonic looks deadly boring UNTIL you realize that Jupiter forms a bi-quintile with Vesta, and Vesta was involved in the aforementioned 7th harmonic activity. Specifically, Sun/Moon (this IS a NM!) form a 7th harmonic aspect with Vesta. So, what DO the Sun/Moon (father and mother) want to talk to Jupiter (the philandering prodigal son born to be king) through Vesta (collectives and their traditions and rituals)? I am not sure, but it looks interesting. AND, the distance from Jupiter to Sun/Moon is 10d40m (ten degrees and forty minutes), almost exactly 1/33 of the “wheel in the sky” (that keeps turning).
  5. Grand Cross : We have mentioned this in every recent chart. Neptune and Vesta (whoops, there it is! Again!) oppose each other and the Nodes square both. This is a curious aspect, and it is in play long enough to color this window of time from before the inauguration until ? until ? until ? (Maybe March? April? later?) Seeing collectives (including religious ones) in opposition to dreams, music, poetry, religion, drugs, and alcohol, and FATE (the Nodes) insisting on that conflict, makes for “interesting times” to experience. The Neptune-Vesta-Nodes GC might also be symbolic of the Pandemic as it continues into 2021.
  6. T-Squares: Ordinarily, we can ignore these when looking at a Grand Cross. BUT, these are NOT ordinary times! Complete separate from the previously mentioned T-Square, we have Hygeia opposing Saturn. Interesting by itself, the fact that Saturn is making its first square to Uranus (since April, 2001) creates the T-Square. When Moon reaches 7 Scorpio (in less than three weeks), a different Grand Cross will form. The Neptune-Vesta-nodes GC is a source of discontent and dissent, but the Hygeia-Saturn-Uranus-Moon GC has the potential to cause radical shifts, deep change that may involve (more) violence.

Any given chart can be “farmed” at length for more meaning. We do that all the time with natal charts. But these six key patterns are enough to be “interesting” as the NM “pulls the trigger” on the Saturn-Uranus square on February 17th.

Thor’s Hammer Key (Interlaced) :
A Potential for Violence or the Energy to Get Things Done (You Choose)

Here is the chart for the THK :

Uranus-Neptune-Hygeia-Astraea form this pattern. Uranus and Neptune are heavy hitters; they tend to shape the world for generations to come. Hygeia is “health and healthcare”; Astraea is “law and legal.”

You can piece together the rest. Stated simply, battles are brewing over healthcare and the laws that govern healthcare. But, if you watch the news, then you already knew that!

Rosettas : Opposing Sides Seem to Agree, But Internal Battles are Fierce

The massive activation of Mars (FOUR squares!) tells us this is a BIG FIGHT. Better be prepared!

7th Harmonic : Problems with Supply Chains Continue But Innovative Solutions Are Possible

Mars-Ceres-Saturn-Juno form the four planet pattern here. Mars and Saturn are, respectively, the “Lesser Malefic” and the “Greater Malefic,” but how do Ceres (food, supply chains, the grocery store having what you want, enough vaccine to “go around,” and similar) and Juno (traditional female family roles : mother-daughter-sister-aunt-niece but ESPECIALLY the wife angry at the philandering husband) fit in?

Without the modifers: how do Ceres and Juno fit in with Mars and Saturn? Whatever the case, frankly, it SOUNDS bad (geez, Mars & Saturn are in play here; Grant Lewi made much of Mars Square Saturn in Hitler’s natal chart). I don’t know about you, but it sounds scary to me!

Whatever the case, it will be “karmic” (a long overdue balancing of some kind) and (strangely) scientific and technical breakthroughs may result from it. Hold onto your hat!

We also note that Vesta (of the Grand Cross mentioned earlier) forms a TriSeptile with Sun/Moon at time of perfection of the NM. What does THAT mean? We are not certain, but it ties into the GC mentioned earlier and it will have something to say about our traditions and our collectives!

5th Harmonic

At first blush, this chart looks boring. But, then we see that a BiQuintile connects Vesta (!) with Jupiter (AND Venus!). What involvement of the King (and sometimes philandering husband) and his sweetheart, the ever lovely Venus, to these collectives and their ever important traditions? To be certain, Vesta is an important player here.

At this point, the GC seems anti-climatic. But, in addition to the Saturn-Uranus square, it is the star for the moment. As seems ever true with Neptune, the pattern risks fading into the background with the other drama in play. But, the key issues of the day can be found here! Poetry and music can heal. Alcohol and drugs (and other addictions) can destroy. Which path do you choose?

Vesta makes this GC about collectives : (military, police, religious orders, healthcare workers). Neptune brings huge changes, some of which are deluded mis-steps and others will make their way into poetry and song.

T-Squares : A Signal of Radical Change Coming

That brings us to the final pattern we will review : T-Squares. We ordinarily ignore those when a Grand Cross is in play (a “T” is just a GC with a piece missing), but another T is in play that will have importance in a few weeks when the Moon at 7 Scorpio will make it into a grand cross. (March 3rd)

This is a “fixed” T, and you can expect that some progress will come to a halt because people will choose to NOT give up their positions.

The Fixed Grand Cross is also known as “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse,” particularly if at fifteen degrees. This one is at seven, but shakeups are still likely.

However, sometimes a GC can be highly productive. A bit of insight or “higher order thinking” can be helpful.

Venus in Taurus (Home) Sextile Neptune in PIsces (Home) 2020-03-22

This is a “feel good” day with a “feel good” aspect that can be critically important to creatives, notably poets & lyricists, photographers and videographers, and anything similar.  It tends to be rare, but if you screw up and miss the opportunity you MIGHT can get it again in 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024.  After that, the window does not re-open until 2176.

A bit of warning is in order: Mars conjunct Pluto is also applying.  Care must be taken to avoid being susceptible to delusions produced by unscrupulous people (scammers and other criminals and agents of deceit).  Working alone, or only with trusted others, is advisable.

We suggest you seize the dreams and ideas that come to you today and grow and harvest them through the windows of opportunity that exist until 2024.  After that, either you have done it or you should give up.

For some odd reason, I keep hearing “Tubular Bells” as I draft this entry about this aspect:

March 18th through 19th of 2020: Sun in Pisces, Anaretic and Saturn in Capricorn, Anaretic

This is easy to miss; I almost did.  As such, this entry is later than I would like (i.e., we have entered the 24 hour period as I write this).

The anaretic degree of any sign has been discussed at length.  Specifically, it is the final degree of a sign before a planet moves into a new sign.  Outer planets (capable of retrograde) may cross this region several times.  Cafe Astrology has an excellent explanation of the anaretic degree.  I will not duplicate their work except for a modification.

My original understanding of the anaretic degree came from a presenter at UAC ’98 (I think maybe Carol Wiggers, a William Lilly expert).  She sold me on Lilly.  While my depth of understanding is not “deep” in the ordinary sense of the word (except maybe for Lewi, who I read and re-read), my favorite astrologers are Grant Lewi, Dane Rudhyar, William Lilly, and Anthony Louis.  Of these, only Louis is still alive, and he has a WordPress blog!  Indeed, I have reblogged some of his most excellent content.

So, my point about the anaretic degree is this: if I understand Lilly correctly, he treated the final three degrees of a sign as “fated.”  Free will might exist in other areas, but not in the final three, and especially not in the “anaretic” (or final) degree.  Cafe Astrology, on the other hand, portrays the degree as “indecisive.”

The two viewpoints are not mutually exclusive (one could be indecisive because “fate” is actually driving the decision), but they are not necessarily the same, either.  The analysis you are reading is based on this understanding of mine.  (Lilly also called the first three degrees “too early to tell.”  While Lilly strictly applied it to horary, I apply it to other areas and, in my opinion, it works.)

Let’s get started.  Here is a head’s up of my main points:

  1. The five point stellium is obvious and does not differ significantly for the charts of entry of Sun into the anaretic degree (the entire focus of this entry) for charts for New York, Los Angeles, or Plano (my location). And, none of the regular patterns we look at (T-Square, Grand Trine, Grand Cross, etc.) are present in these charts.
  2. The most important thing is that BOTH the Sun AND Saturn are in anaretic degrees during this period.  (That is unusual.)  Specifically, the Sun is in the anaretic degree of Pisces (possibly the most powerful of all anaretic degrees since it is truly about endings) and Saturn is in the anaretic degree of Capricorn (its home!).  Saturn MUST make a statement of some kind before it leaves home.  And the Sun is in the same position as we close out one astrological year and start another.
  3. A triangular fifth harmonic pattern exists.  I identify this will little commentary, preferring that others reblog my work and add their own commentary.
  4. A triangular seventh harmonic pattern exists.  Again, I offer little commentary for the same reason as previous.
  5. I offer a number of maps.  While all are interesting to some greater or lesser degree, only three are truly compelling: (1) Western Canada (which places both Saturn and Pluto on the Fourth House Cusp, sometimes called either the “final resting place” or, more explicitly, “the grave”); (2) China (and that would seem obvious, but seeing the astrological maps confirming it is noteworthy) and (3) the UK (again, obvious based on what is happening there but, again, seeing the astrological maps confirming it is noteworthy).
  6. The other maps DO have stories to tell, just not quite as much as Canada / China / UK.
  7. I think this set of charts might tell us more about what happening than the Vernal Equinox charts..  (But, the Vernal Equinox charts, via the Thor’s Hammer pattern, hint that some serious “unrest” could be facing us.)

The 5th harmonic connections of Mercury (communications and transportation), Venus (values and finances and sometimes health), and Astraea (law and legal matters) foretells possible innovations emerging from the coming difficulties.  But Mercury ties into the Thor’s Hammer, so difficult lessons may face us first.

Only a few days before the autumnal equinox, and a few after the events of September 17, 2015, Mars perfects a sesquiquadrate aspect to Pluto (Mars SSQ Pluto) on September 21st.  You will feel it before that, certainly by Sunday, September 20th.  This aspect provides an intense urge to “get things done,” sometimes panic, and sometimes even violence.

If you can stay home and work alone, focusing your energies into completing a singular task, then do so.  Otherwise, still try to work alone if possible.  This is not a good day for interaction with others unless your job inherently involves conflict.

We do note a triangular pattern of 5th order harmonics (quintiles, biquintiles) involving asteroids.  This may be a good day for creative problem solving and thinking.

Sun Sesquiquadrate Uranus perfects Friday, August 28, 2015.  This is a very GOOD energy for “getting things done” (particularly if you “bit off more than you could chew when you took on that new project Wednesday with Sun Conjunct Jupiter), but it can be very bad if you act impulsively and do something rash and stupid because your temper overcame your better sense.  (Lawyers and boxers might do well under this pattern, but most everyone else tends to suffer.)

Sun Sextile Saturn 2015-09-23 (Mystic Rectangle and more)

Sun sextile Saturn is an excellent day for “getting things done.”  But, this is nothing short of an amazing day.  (We have great expectations for children born on this day.)  Why is it amazing?

(1) A Mystic Rectangle occurs.  These are both rare and incredibly fortuitous.

(2) An amazing 5th harmonic pattern occurs that greatly resembles a Star of David pattern

Since, apparently, no name exists for this pattern, we will call it a “Quintile Star of David.”  (This is likely not a “perfect” version of the “Quintile Star of David” since that would require Mars Opposite Neptune in this case.)

These rather amazing patterns form on the same day as the Sun conjoins the North Node, forming a particularly powerful kite pattern.

Sun Conjunct Jupiter 2015-08-26

This happens once a year, every year.  It is USUALLY a window of good fortune, and that is what we expect on this date.  However, a yod occurs earlier in the day, and your ability to take advantage of this may depend on the decision you made earlier, before this aspect perfects.  Furthermore, Jupiter is in “detriment”  in Virgo and not able to perform as strongly as usual.

We also note the presence of substantial 5th order harmonics (quintiles and biquintiles), and we should the chart filtered for those:

We note that the pattern we are describing has Mercury (communications and transportation) at the center (or apex) with Astraea (law and the legal system) on one side (or leg) and Pallas (innovation, particularly military innovation) on the other side (or leg).   Will be interesting to see what enters the news at this time.  Don’t be surprised to see that it involves a controversial technology that, once again, may be a further threat to our collective privacy.

On a personal level, this can be a very good time to launch a new project, particularly if you can finish it before the Full Moon perfects (August 29th) or, failing that, before the next New Moon (the Solar Eclipse of September 13th).

Mercury (R) Conjunct Sun 2015-09-30

Retrograde Mercury conjoins the Sun slightly past 0930 CDT (please adjust for your time zone).  This short window, from about 900 CDT to about 1000 CDT, is a time when an old project can be resurrected with brilliant results.  Here is the chart, filtered for the Kite present at this time:

Actually, when we filter for 5th harmonic aspects, we find a 5th harmonic aspect similar to a Yod that gives you a choice between (a) resurrecting the old project (Sun/Mercury on one leg) or (b) scrapping it and replacing it with a new brilliant solution (Pallas, innovation, on the other leg).  Here is the chart, filtered for 5th harmonic aspects:

Do realize that, whichever approach you choose, you may need to make adjustments after Mercury turns direct.  And a bit of a “fly in the ointment” exists in the form of Sun Quincunx Neptune perfecting on this date.  A reality check is in order, and you still might overlook critical details in the implementation of the ideas you generate on this date.

Lunar Eclipse of 2015-09-27 (Blood Moon 4 of 4)

While the religious fervor is nearing fever pitch, this lunar eclipse (full moon) looks relatively uninteresting.  However, it IS an eclipse, and those are always strong punctuation marks to astrologers.  Also: we note that this occurs 9/28 in UK/EU and that part of the world.

We independently arrive at essentially the same conclusions, and completely agree with the analysis done by, Armstrong Economics: this Blood Moon is not “The End of the World as We Know It” but it does likely signal a major “shift in trend.”

As far as regular patterns go, only an ongoing kite pattern colors this particular eclipse:

However, the chart does contain a fair amount of 5th harmonic activity (some of it interesting) and 7th harmonic activity .  We present the chart filtered for 5th harmonic aspects (quintiles and biquintiles) first, noting a pattern similar to a yod (but composed of biquintiles instead of quincunxes):

Mars (physical energy, sometimes war and violence) is connected to biquintiles to Ceres (feast/famine) and Vesta (tradition, but sometimes weird sex).  Ceres and Vesta are connected by a quintile.  All of this is about insights and novel ideas (think Mozart) about combining these three areas, and perhaps a choice between the Ceres issues (feast / famine) and Vesta issues (traditions and rituals), similar to a Yod.

A similar situation exists with 7th Harmonic aspects (“karma”):

Here we have Venus (love, beauty, money) at the apex, and Chiron (healing and teaching) on one leg and Ceres on the other.  Resolving “karma” involving these three is the core issue here.

So, if we see any issues from this eclipse, we suspect that they will deal with decisions that involve these higher order aspects.  A decision appears to be present: whether to stick with tradition (Vesta, doing things the way we have always done them) or taking a risk (Ceres, feast or famine).  I note that some people will end a relationship at this time (Ceres, the risk of feast or famine) while others will continue with what they know despite some dissatisfaction (Vesta, sticking with what we know).

Some have said that the unrest in Syria (arguably a civil war) IS central to the message for all of us at this time.  Chances are good that we will only be able to see that more fully in hindsight.  (Do note the 7th harmonic (karma) pattern similar to a Yod that appears to offer us a decision.)  We have some other observations about this eclipse posted on our sibling site Mystic Rectangles.

We are using a reported time of the accident of “just after 9 PM” set to 9:02 EDT.  What stands out to us is the very nearly exact TriSeptile aspect of the Moon to its North Node: Philly Train Wreck 2015-05-12 TriSeptiles

Other characteristics are in play as well.  Pluto in 2nd house tells us that this is an event that likely involves a large amount of “other peoples money.”  (Insurance; lawsuits)  Saturn rising and in the 12th suggests difficulties.  But, again, the Moon TriSeptile its North Node (Fate or Karma) is most noteworthy.  We also note precise TriSeptiles between Neptune on one side and Jupiter / Juno (which are essentially conjunct in Leo) on the other side. Also interesting are the 5th order harmonics, and we see two patterns composed of those that resemble the “T-Square” that occurs with 4th order harmonics (squares and oppositions): Philly Train Wreck 2015-05-12 5th order harmonics

The Hard Rectangle discussed on the May 15th post, involving Mars Opposite Saturn, is already in play here, and we think a major contributor to this even.  (But, again, we think that the Lunar Triseptile was the precipitating aspect.)

Note that this pattern includes (1) the rising Saturn / setting Mars and (2) the 2nd house Pluto / 8th house Hygeia.  As we have said before, we think this pattern is dangerous.

Full Moon of December 6, 2014

We live in complex and troubling times.  While that might could be said of any period of time (“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness”), we see a number of patterns activated during this full moon and are reminded of the disasters of 2010 (a series culminating in the Deepwater Horizon).

A number of astrologers have mentioned the ongoing series of Uranus / Pluto squares covering several years.  We do not need to cover that again here, but we do need to note the important of the context that aspect provides in the following discussion.  If everything was driven by loving trines, then maybe it would not matter.  But, that’s not true.  We have squares in general, and grand crosses and t-squares in particular.  And we have Thor’s Hammer (aka God’s Fist) patterns.  A rosetta and mystic rectangle tell us that we are (still) polarizing.  (Duh, you easily read that in the news.  But the astrology is consistent.)  A large number of 5th order harmonics tells us we can find creative solutions.  A large number of 7th order harmonics tells us that we are dealing with karma that insists that we find those solutions.

Step by step, here are the variants of the Full Moon Chart for December 6th of 2014.

1.  Grand Cross and T-Square

If we allow ourselves to count the node, we have a long term grand cross that has been in play for some time and will continue.  This grand cross is an extended vision of the famous Uranus / Pluto squares discussed elsewhere.  It brings in the fate and karma of the North Node along with the issues of health, healthcare, and healing from the asteroid Hygeia.  Though the node is technically not a “planet” (or asteroid or other body), we suspect that this method of approaching the current variant of the Uranus / Pluto square yields the most insight.  We cannot ignore issues and disparities in our healthcare systems any longer.

The Full Moon combination of Sun/Moon has Chiron (the “wounded healer”) square to it.  This is another signal that issues in health and healthcare must be dealt with, and Chiron blends in issues of education (particularly healthcare education, such as the training of healthcare professionals).  Expect to see changes in healthcare education, starting in 2015 and beyond.

2.  Grand Trines

We see a series of variants of a particular grand trine (Fire: Aries / Leo / Sagittarius) in this chart.  Grand trines are usually stabilizing influences, but this is a FIRE grand trine.  When tied in with the other aspects, what we see is that it likely provides an insistence on change and on the need for leadership in facilitating the needed change(s).

No matter which side you take on these current issues, you know that strong leadership is needed at this time.  Few people can honestly believe that we can move forward from where we are without certain major changes in our system happening.

3.  Kites

Kites sometimes occur with grand trines, and the signify opportunities.  One of the strongest here involves the node (opportunity, but HARD WORK needed to manifest that opportunity), and the other integrates the full moon itself (and this means it is particularly tied to the days of December 5/6/7).  Somebody will make some serious money from this, perhaps a HUGE windfall.

Since Jupiter / Uranus are involved in this second kite, this will be a time where we might see some huge “lotto” (figuratively if not literally) windfalls.  Somebody will win big.

We would also argue that this interlaced pattern of kites constitutes the emergence of a new pattern, perhaps it could be called something like a “twin kite key.”  (It looks a bit like a house, so it could be the “house that kites built.”  But “twin kite key” is more succinct.)

4. Rosettas and Mystic Rectangle

We see two rosettas (highly polarizing in their influence) and a mystic rectangle (an odd mix of conflict in some areas but stability in others) in play in this full moon:

We note that both of these involve the North Node (“fate” and hard work).

The North Node is also involved here as well as the current full moon and Uranus.  This combination likely indicates a fleeting but powerful opportunity; the window will close soon.

5.  Square Key

Yet another pattern telling us of work to be done.  Additionally, this pattern indicates that we may be dissatisfied with the results not being quite what we had hoped for.  Sun / Uranus / Hygeia / Chiron in this pattern ties together the health and healing issues again.

6.  5th Order Harmonics

We see a number of 5th order aspects (quintiles and bi-quintiles) in this chart, telling us that creative solutions are available if we are open to receive them.

7.  7th Order Harmonics

We also see a number of 7th order harmonics.  This tells us that we had better avail ourselves of the available creative solutions (and do the work necessary to make them happen) or “else.”
