The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 41,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 9 Film Festivals

Winters Solstice 2012 (aka “The End of the World”)

Here is the Winters Solstice 2012 (aka “The End of the World”) chart (set in Plano, of course):

First of all, we have written about this elsewhere.  The most important patterns appear to be (1) the Focused Yod that occurs at the time of the solstice, and (2) the Diamond that happens fifteen hours later.  To learn more about those, click here.

For an alternative version of the chart, as well as a global Solar Map, click here.  But, by far the most popular page on this site discussing the 2012 Solstice is “Saturn in Scorpio: The Power of Mutual Reception.”

We have always questioned, on this site, the idea that the world will “end” with this solstice.  We do not believe that.

However, we have entered a period where serious questions will be asked of government, particularly intelligence agencies that strip citizens of privacy (Scorpio / Pluto), and of (large) financial institutions (Capricorn / Saturn) and their abuses (giving huge bonuses with bailout money then foreclosing on the citizens who should have been protected).

All this is scary, and it looks like it is getting worse.

But, something even larger is looming, and that something just might be the End of the World As We Know It.  We are a bit like the frog being cooked.  And, what is cooking us is global warming.  Many people have said global warming is a hoax, like this video from five years ago in 2007.  What do y0u think?

We note this video about the Greenland ice melt published 2012.  It is the kind of thing Al Gore was talking about in 2006 when he made An Inconvenient Truth.

Where are we headed?  Difficult to say.  But, let’s hope we can keep the Internet.  It has glued us together in ways never thought of before.  It might be what can save us.  But, as noted above, we have written of this elsewhere and have no significant changes to our earlier commentary at “Saturn in Scorpio: The Power of Mutual Reception” and the other links mentioned above.

Here are a few Solar Maps:

First, we start with Australia / New Zealand.  This is a particularly active area at the time of the Solstice with the Node Line (fate or karma) touching Brisbane.  Mars and Saturn have crossing lines inland from the northern coast.  We think Australia and New Zealand are of increasing importance, globally, and (if this Solstice is as significant as some say) this map tends to confirm that.

Next, we look at the U.S.

United States Solar Map at time of Winters Solstice 2012

We will publish a few more maps, and some more commentary, in the next few days as the Solstice approaches.

Presidential Election 2012

We will avoid an analysis of the candidates in this post because (a) it has been done extensively elsewhere and (b) we might do it later in another post.  We find the election itself more interesting.  (Some analysis of the candidates is necessary, but we prefer to focus on the aspects surrounding the election itself.)

By the way, we like this commentary on the 2008 election.

That said, we have decided to use the opening of the polls in Cobb County (Georgia) as our initial chart.  Why?  (Why not Plano, for example.  That’s where we cast almost everything else.  Or what about New York?  Or Ohio?)

A quick and informal search of “nov 6 2012 poll opens” in our favorite search engine lead us to the Cobb County site as the first meaningful description of the opening of the polls.  Since the internet was unquestionably important in the last election, and will be more so in this one (particularly via social networking), we use an internet source as the basis of “When do the polls open?”

Speaking of the internet, have you seen the Amazon Heatmap of the Presidential Election?  Since it is subject to change, we will include of snapshot of what we are looking at as this commentary is being written:

So, what does that mean?  Is the country really Red?  The (other) polls say otherwise.  Maybe what this map really means is this: Republicans tend to read more paper-based books whereas Democrats take in their information from other sources, such as television (and the internet).  Is the map real, or is it skewed?  Are we seeing a reflection of a population moving away from reading?

That said, here is the chart that results:

We first note that, unlike the election of 2000, the Moon is not void.  It is in Leo and applying to a square to the Sun and waning.  As is true with all U.S. Presidential elections for anyone who is currently living, the Sun is in Scorpio (in early November).  But, unlike most other elections, the Sun has recently conjoined Saturn.

As has been true in the past 3 elections, especially 2000 and 2004, the Moon dominates the election.  Unlike the void Moon of 2000, we have a Moon that is certain of its intent here.  We will get a decisive result.  [Update: when I wrote this I did not realize that Mercury was making a retrograde station on this date.  Rather than saying we will get a decisive result, I think I should say that I expect confusion to abound.  Indeed, we may not know who the winner is until as long as several weeks after the election.  This will be a close one.]

Although recounts could happen, we do not expect them.  We do think that the waning Moon may signal the end of an era of some kind.  That is, after this term, the United States will be a very different place from what it has been like for a number of decades.  We will go further and argue that this era started the last time that the Sun conjoined Saturn in Scorpio, roughly 45 days prior to the 1980 election.

The Sun is six (6) days past its first conjunction with Scorpio in (approximately) the past 30 years.  Specifically, the last time the Sun conjoined Saturn (for the first time after entry) was September 22, 1980.  That was a bit before the Reagan election of 1980That election was a rare landslide election that went against an incumbent (Jimmy Carter).  Specifically, a pro-business conservative Republican governor upset a liberal Democrat President who had problems in the Middle East.  Could that happen here?

The polls currently say no.  And, we tend to agree with the polls.  This is because of the position of the Moon.  Specifically, if we look at the Moon in Romney’s natal chart, it is placed between Saturn and Pluto.  *IF* he is elected, then this will have an interesting symmetry with the Diamond Pattern of the 2012 Solstice.

But, Obama has the Moon conjunct Mercury, a bit more favorable as far as aspects go.  We think he will win.  But, Mars & Pluto in the second house say that the last four years were just the prelude, the beginning, of the deep fiscal issues that the nation, and the world, will face in the next four years.  Sadly, we have not seen the worst of it yet.  And, we cannot spend our way out of it.

And, some comparisons of Obama to Jimmy Carter are being made.  Fox News wrote an article called “Obama is Jimmy Carter 2.0.”  Fox is rather conservative, but what about the Washington Times?  And, BEFORE he was elected, the New York Observer made a set of Obama / Carter comparisons.  Assuming that you are old enough to remember who Jimmy Carter was, and why he was voted out of office, is that a fair comparison?

What will be interesting will be to see the mood of the country when the Sun / Scorpio conjunction happens this year.  We would not be surprised to see an event of some kind between the upcoming Full Moon and that conjunction that might cause some kind of shift in the sentiment of the country.  And, Jupiter has left its contact with Obama’s natal moon and is applying to a conjunction with Romney’s natal Uranus.  A surprise could happen.

We note also that (1) if Moon favors Obama then we expect women, in general, to do so also.  But (2) Moon between Saturn & Pluto for Romney COULD mean an unusual show of solidarity by conservative women.  The ladies in red jackets might make a strong showing.  Finally, (3) we believe that the Saturn return group (and we will loosely define this) of 1980 to 1986 births will be a decisive factor in this election.  (They might can even out-vote the younger “college student” group that was so strong in the last election.)

Here is the chart of the Sun / Saturn conjunction for this year, followed by the 1980 Sun/Saturn conjunction chart (both set in Plano):

Earthquakes in Mexico (2012)

While briefly reviewing the email from GrandTrines readers, and conducting some other brief research, I came across a link from Jude Cowell’s Stars Over WashingtonNeptune Cafe on 2012.  If you are interested in the 2012 predictions, then you might want to read that.

In that piece, the authors (Neptune Cafe) claimed that (based on their reading of a popular book by Jenkins) May 20, 2012 is an important date, and the authors (of Neptune Cafe) stated that “we could suggest that Mexico City will be destroyed by a violent earthquake.”

Well, Mexico City is alive (but possibly not well due to the crime waves of recent years).  And, we point out here that Jenkins is a target of skeptics.  Further, we do not adopt a “doomsday” point of view of 2012 on this blog although we do believe that a huge societal transformation has been in progress at least since World War II and probably since the American Revolution.  Even most skeptics would agree with that.  Unlike skeptics, however, we believe this transformation is part of a cosmic calendar rather than “mere chance.”  And, to adopt a trite expression, we believe “the best is yet to come.”

However, the following is worthy of note: (1) a magnitude 7.6 earthquake shook Mexico City at the time of the Vernal Equinox of 2012 and (2) a smaller 5.4 earthquake shook the city again at the time of the Autumnal Equinox of 2012.  (In case that link breaks, see here or here.)

Could we see a similar event again at the Winter’s Solstice of 2012?

Star of David 2012-09-05

Using the Electional Search feature of Solar fire, the following “Star of David” pattern appears.  Technically, it appears (local to Plano)  early on the morning of September 5, 2012.  It is the only pattern of its kind during the period from August 1st to the end of 2012.

First, here is what the “prima facie” version of the pattern looks like:

(That image is from Solar Fire.)

The chart of the actual pattern looks like this:

So, what does this mean?  These patterns are rare.  One set of similar patterns occurred in late May of 2010, as described in the “The Splay Pattern of May 23rd.”  You may recall that the splay pattern of those days was part of a sequence of events that included the Deepwater Horizon disaster associated with BP.

But, before we predict disaster (other things were happening with BP), let us look at some similar patterns in the past.

August 26, 2009 had this pattern:

So, what happened on that date?  I will leave that question open for people to address in the comments section.  Here are a few more similar patterns.

First Day of Spring: Vernal Equinox 2012

The Vernal Equinox of 2012 is at hand.

Here is the basic chart, set in Plano.

If you are planning a celebration, and you are in the Western Hemisphere, hold it on the evening of the 19th (or perhaps the 18th).  However, avoid significant actions to launch new projects until the New Moon of the 22nd.  The weekend following the 22nd will herald the true beginning of Spring for many.

I recommend closing all “old business” by the 18th, using the remaining period until Friday the 23rd as a “week off” (expect unexpected changes due to strong influence of the Uranus / Pluto square), and have fun the following weekend.  (That would be a great weekend for marriage proposals.)

If you would like a list of Moon Phases for both 2012 and 2013, try here:  http://www.calendar-365.com/moon/moon-phases.html

From that list, we note that August of 2012 has a Blue Moon on August 31st.

Using this source:  http://www.seasky.org/astronomy/astronomy-calendar-2012.html  We note that the already spectacular Full Moon of May 6th will be accompanied by a meteor shower to the east, in the constellation of Aquarius.  Perhaps this is another good time for a celebration.

From that same source, we observe that the Summer’s Solstice this year will immediately FOLLOW a New Moon.  This will be another interesting time.

Vernal Equinox 2012 Maps

United States

With Mars at Midheaven in Southern Mexico, here in Plano, and north through Chicago, we can expect an “interesting” Spring along that line.  Great for athletics but also associated with acts of violence.  The Western U.S., and especially Northwestern Mexico, received a benevolent gift of some kind via the Venus & Jupiter (in Taurus) lines.

The East Coast is highly activated, and Uranus is touching Boston.  We expect really smart people there (Cambridge?) doing really smart things, possibly accidents, and a very good chance of both.  A combination of the Node (fate) and several other lines occurs west of Montreal, and we expect Canadians to see some powerful event or culmination of a problem in that region this Spring.  Finally, all of Appalachia this spring will be touched by the Node line, which passes directly through Atlanta and through the “panhandle” of Western Florida (aka “The Emerald Coast”).  The problems of the poor and disenfranchised in this region can no longer be ignored, and we may see some kind of followup to the mining explosion of 2010 (mentioned elsewhere on this blog) that was eclipsed by the BP Oil spill.

Both of those accidents highlight not only abuses, but an abusive way of thinking, among those who occupy positions of power in corporate America.  With Uranus square Pluto for the next few YEARS, expected reversals of fortune that force better behavior on behalf of the poor and disenfranchised in this region.

Australia

Mostly good news for Australia: Melbourne is HIGHLY favored at this time by a Venus at Midheaven.  This is a good place to be at this time; overall, favorable things are happening & will be happening.  On a less pleasant note, Darwin has a Saturn line passing nearby, and this bodes for a period of austerity.  The exact nature is unclear, but this could be further economic contraction.  Whatever remains after this period will be a very strong Darwin focused on the most important principles.  At first blush, Perth does not have any activity.  However, it is roughly at the midpoint between the Pluto and Uranus lines.  Recall, if you will, that this aspect has been described as the “reversal of fortunes” aspect.  Some wealthy will lose their money, and some poor will have newfound fortune.

Finally, New Zealand is so highly activated that I am not sure what to say.  Something tells me that something involving outsiders, not from NZ, is cooking and that it will be very big.  Node, Moon, Neptune, and Chiron all pass through NZ, and they are currently associated with things Piscean.  Issues involving certain arts (music and poetry) and religion could be very big there.  An island to the Northeast has a Mars line passing through it, and it may experience some of the same issues of potential violence (or great athletic performance) as other areas with Mars lines.  Refer to map, below.

That is it for now.  Hope the Venus/Jupiter conjunction of March 14th fares /fared you well.

Update: The VE is almost here, so I am adding a few last minute maps.  First: Asia.

Asia

Note the Sun MC chart line going near Hanoi, Bangkokh, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta.  The impact of this particular VE will be particularly powerful for these cities and the region between them (all are on one side or the other of the Sun MC).

The North Node (Karmic) Line is all along the Western Coast of India, indicating some kind of working off of Karma there.  The line is almost on top of Bombay.

A Pluto line also comes near Hanoi, indicating some kind of challenge there.  Based on Pluto’s position in Capricorn, and what it did upon its entry into Capricorn in 2008 (financial crash), I bet Hanoi may especially feel any kind of financial problems that may be currently occurring.  Here is the map.

United Kingdom

Sometimes I just use the Europe map to cover the UK as well, but this time I thought a separate map was appropos.  Note the Neptune Ascendant line through the Channel.  Not sure what this means, but Neptune has a way of sweeping things away.  My guess is that, if they are not showing already, something like signs of dangerous erosion to the infrastructure related to Channel traffice will come to light or SHOULD come to light.  This might even have a more metaphorical meaning, as England and France are forced to somehow re-define their very long term and very old relationship.  Look to what was happening 240 years ago, roughly (the U.S. Revolution?), and you might find the answer.

Chiron’s line touches Glasgow, and this means that Scotland is working on some kind of healing.  My guess is that it is financial but it may be more literal.  Could be an outbreak of some kind, perhaps a late season influenza or something like that.  Given that most of the UK is between the Neptune and Chiron lines, public health may be very much in the public eye, and the time of an overhaul of some kind may be at hand.

On a less favorable note, the Moon line goes through Dublin, Ireland (not to be confused with Dublin, Texas) and Lisbon, Portugal.  Since the Moon is in Pisces, and Pisces rules debt, this could be a bit unfavorable.  However, the Moon is very old and shrinking fast, so maybe this is a chance for resolution of debt issues in these places.  One way or the other, this Spring will be seen as a crucial turning point regarding these debt issues.

Europe

The European map is complex, and only the most cursory analysis is offered here.  Perhaps another astrologer can explore this map in more depth.  (Jude, are you reading this?)  As mentioned earlier, Moon in Pisces (debt) touches Dublin & Lisbon, and Neptune (debt) goes straight through Madrid.  (Neptune, Pisces, and the 12th house are all equivalents, being planet, sign, and house representations of the same things.)  My (sad and gloomy) interpretation is that the European debt problems will worsen this (astrological, VE to VE) year.

The Mars line goes through or near Kobenhaven, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Marseilles, and Algiers.  Mars is the energy to act.  In its high form, it is athletic achievements or at least the ability to get things done.  In low form, and it has a propensity to take the low form, it is violence and war.  Do not be surprised to see riots in any of these cities, possibly related to financial issues.  Notably, Mars is in Virgo, which tends to ameliorate its effects.  Since Virgo rules healthcare, the energy could be plowed into healthcare.  And, Virgo (being opposite Pisces) also relates to debt.  So, this confirms a possible response to the debt issue.  The Pisces-Virgo axis is about the balance between work and play, so some may have a perception that others played while they worked (and paid).

The (Ascendant) Sun line also comes near Kobenhaven as well as Berlin and Rome.  For these cities, the Vernal Equinox will occur near Sunrise.  Generally, this is a fortuitous event, and could signal some relief.  (I know that sounds rather paradoxical, given Berlin’s relationship to Europe’s financial problems.)

A node (karmic) line touches the southwestern tip of Ireland, and a karmic event could occur here (earthquake, explosion, accident, etc.) soon.  Similarly, a Uranus Ascendant line touches Vienna, running roughly North-South, and could signal the same along that line.

Kiev & Minsk are touched by a Venus line, which is very favorable, especially for financial relief and forms of art that resembling sculptures.  Relief is to be expected along this line.  But, a Pluto line runs through eastern Poland and other parts of eastern Europe, passing by Athens as it exits the continent.  As mentioned earlier, Pluto in Capricorn has been associated with financial difficulties, so transformation in these areas will continue to occur.

That said….

Africa

Africa is large and complex.  Much of the analysis of Europe applies to the analogous lines in Africa.  That said, expect to hear interesting news from Cape Town this Spring.

Full Moon of April 28, 2010

April 28, 2010 at 10:17 am | Posted in 2012, Astrology, Lunations, Predictions | 1 Comment

First of all, many of us will be impelled to action by the impending conjunction of the retrograde Mercury with the Sun at this time.  We will feel that “things” are overdue, and that we must act.  A real danger of acting rashly exists here.  Act, to be sure, but act wisely.

For the details of this, check the midpoint tree of Mercury on the Wheel and Data page, shown later in this article.

Full Moon Activates the 2012 Solstice Focused Yod

This Taurus Sun / Scorpio Moon Full Moon occurs at 8 Taurus / Scorpio, which is an activating point for the 2012 Solstice Focused Yod.  Events that happen on or around this time will tend to have long term consequences, and that is confirmed by the final Saturn / Uranus opposition of that series with Saturn / Uranus in the final degrees of Virgo / Pisces.

Unquestionably this is a signal of some kind for the financial markets, but what kind?  Some say a recovery; some say a “Bear Rally.”  In this case, the entry of Pluto into Capricorn a year ago signals the beginning of a long period of what might be called “Fiscal Conservatism.”  Pluto is related to investigations, and Capricorn is the sign of finances and financial markets.  Deep, probing investigations into the financial services industry is, or should be, the norm. The Saturn / Uranus opposition series has been the herald, and the astrological avatar, of the recession.  That opposition series also signal a need for evaluation of existing structures (Saturn) and possible change (Uranus).

Hele of Full Moon of April 28th

This Hele appears to be active and important at the time of this Full Moon:

Since Hele is a new pattern, this is difficult to interpret.  However, it appears to at least potentially involve the severe anger of betrayal (Pallas) aligned with Venus (Art & Beauty or Finances) in relation to Neptune (Deception), Moon (Full), and Saturn (Authority).  An “explosion” (not literal) regarding Goldman-Sachs, Madoff, etc. may be about to “come to a head” today.  A pimple appears waiting to be popped.

Venus in a Yod with Ceres and Pluto v. The Full Scorpio Moon

That said, the current economic condition is about as good as it will get.  It may or may not have peaked yet, but the exuberance of the preceding twenty years is no longer warranted.  The Venus / Cerus inconjunct confirms that some (many) will be irrationally exuberant over the current rally.  Venus is also inconunct Ceres, and Ceres and Pluto are conjunct each other.

In fact, Venus is in a Yod with Ceres and Pluto on one side, and the Moon on the other.  Ceres / Pluto conjunct could be called the “I want to have my cake and eat it, too” aspect.  You cannot have both, but that is exactly what we feel.  A decision must be made, based on the conjunction alone.  But, Yods emphasize decisions, and we are almost never satisfied with the results (from a hindsight vantage point).

To best understand the energy of this full moon, read about Ceres and Pluto here.

In this case, we must make a decision about decisions.  What issue will we focus upon?  If we focus upon a Ceres/Pluto viewpoint, then we will be faced with the challenge of “having our cake and eating it too.”  If we pick the Moon, then we are picking a Full Moon with the Sun Conjunct Retrograde Mercury.  This means that we must double check everything and look at old projects we had discarded.  In the end, we will have to balance investigation and intrigue (the Scorpio Moon) with art, beauty, and productivity (Taurus).  Investigation is necessary, but investigation (alone) WILL NOT GET THINGS DONE.  No matter how we approach things today, if the 2012 Solstice is important, then we will see today (and this week) as a turning point in our lives.

On a more personal note, this is a tough time for anyone who starts a diet.  Certainly it CAN be done; Pluto helps but only through pain or traumatic events.  The Ceres (giving into the temptation to eat what you want) is far easier and far more pleasant.  All that said, here is the Full Moon Chart:

Here is a chart for Winter Solstice 2012.   It is set local to Plano.  Jupiter is highly aspected, which is interesting because the two planets of spirituality are Neptune and Jupiter.  The prominent pattern here is a Focused Yod (crucial decisions) involving Jupiter and Venus (in opposition) and Saturn and Pluto (Sextile).  For more analysis of patterns, click here.

Here is the 2010 Winter’s Solstice chart, set in Plano TX:

2010 Spring Equinox Post Hoc (After the Fact) Analysis

Barbara Hand Clow has an interesting article with a different viewpoint on the Equinox.  She presents a meditation (many people are searching for that) along with an analysis.  She focuses on the T-Square between Sun / Saturn / Pluto.

An Equinox is a Type of “Solar Return”

From a certain vantage point, a solstice or equinox chart is an annual “return.”  Since such as “Solar Return” happens when the Sun is at precisely the same point each year, one can argue that the “Sun disappears.” That means that the Moon becomes the most important object in the sky, hence the earlier article about the Algol Moon.  (In an odd way, this is a wee bit like a Solar Eclipse.)

Midpoint of Venus and Jupiter replace the Sun this year

With the Sun gone, and the Moon analyzed earlier, analysis of the T-Square should begin with Venus and Jupiter.  Venus and Jupiter are exactly 16 degrees, each, from the 0 Aries point; they are equidistant.  This midpoint is less that a degree from the 0 point, meaning (for most purposes) it is exact.  It is also less that a degree from the opposition to Saturn (it is exact).  Here is the chart, with midpoints.

Aspects to, and Uses of, Venus / Jupiter Midpoint

The midpoint of Venus and Jupiter is likely the most beneficial midpoint that can be experienced, and this means the possibility of a very good year.  (Of course, some people will benefit more than others, depending on their natal chart.  Unfavorable aspects can still exist in relation to the natal chart.  And, even if the natal chart is superb, the person can choose to squander the opportunity.)

Sometimes astrology says what we already know, and it does so here:  Venus (prosperity and harmony) will grow (Jupiter, the great amplifier) if we both (1) work for it and (2) eliminate the unnecessary (both of these are opposing Saturn).  A great opportunity exists this year; this is the “brass ring” for some people.

Pluto, square and completing the T-Square, says to achieve this we must undergo profound transformation.  In some settings someone must die, but someone will be born.  (Or “one door closes, and another opens.”)  This is not necessarily a “natural person”; it could be a business, relationship, building, community, or maybe just a very entrenched habit that has outworn its usefulness.

The Answer is not in the T-Square; The Answer is in the Triangle of Potential

But, still, the answer is not quite found in any of these.  Because of the “Triangle of Potential” (mentioned earlier), with Mars at 0 Leo, action and leadership will be necessary.  Pluto indicates a possible change in leadership.  Pluto inconjunct (aka quincunx) Leo indicates a dissatisfaction with leadership.

(I am not speaking of Presidential leadership, though I could be.  The populace routinely becomes disenchanted with Presidents as campaign promises routinely remain unfulfilled.  But, I am talking local leadership.  A patriarch or matriarch in a family or business may need to move into an advisory role, lest that family or business disintegrate altogether.)

But, again, Mars is the key here: take action, if you want to grow (Jupiter) your prosperity (Venus) through the hard work and self-sacrifice (Saturn) and losses (Pluto) that are likely to come to pass.

Personal and Global Communications will blend and will be essential to the change

Mercury and Uranus form a midpoint that even more precisely addressed the T-Square (and the Triangle of Potential).  Both govern communication (and Mercury governs transportation), with Mercury being more private and personal and Uranus being more public and global, so communications of all kinds will be at the center of achievement.

In fact, the most important achievements this year may involve communications and how we communicate with each other, as personal and global communications become intertwined and blended.  Perhaps this is a harbinger of 2012, and the changes yet to come.

Mayan Calendar (2012) and Saturn in Scorpio 1

I’ll probably have a number of posts to write about this, but I’d like to write a short one now. Saturn is in Virgo and Pluto is in Capricorn. Both are malefics, both are trine, and Pluto is in Saturn’s home. What does this mean? I think that the answer to that is unfolding currently.

“2012” seems to divide people into two camps: those who have heard about it and are terrified, and those who either haven’t heard of it or don’t care. I’m in a third: I think it is a curiosity, but I haven’t put much stock into it.

I’d like to point out a few interesting astrological issues, though. (1) Saturn will move into Scorpio, which is MUCH tougher than Virgo; and (2) Saturn and Pluto will be in mutual reception.

I could stop there; those two would be enough by themselves. But those born in the mid 1980s will be entering or about to enter their Saturn returns. A number of astrologers call this generation the “Chernobyl” or “Columbine” generation. The Challenger Space Shuttle disaster happened in 1986. Some have watched this generation cautiously, and I note that they begin their Saturn returns at that time.

All of this is far away, but I would offer that the current events will set the stage for those events, four years away. This election is profound, but the following one will be even more profound.

Scorpio rules (1) things underground; (2) poisons in general; and (3) especially liquids that are poisonous. Easily deduced from #1, #2, and #3, Scorpio rules crude oil generally, with Neptune & Pisces controlling the pipes. Saturn is cardinal earth, it tends to make things shrink, and it also tends to “dry up” things.

So, four years in advance, I offer this. The current “difficulties” are preparing us for what is ahead, four years from now. We are NOT having a “Great Depression,” yet, but if we do not make major changes to conserve and manage resources better, we might encounter such problems by 2012. The current “financial woes” are a wake up call.
