Grand Trines (archived version as of 2020-03-15)
If you look at Alabe.com’s Hot Degrees page for 2020, you will notice that, in addition to the Vernal Equinox, we have several other events coming, happening within a few days of each other. The Vernal Equinox, itself, is “early” this year (from the perspective of Western calendars) on March 19th in some time zones and the early part of March 20th in others. Since we are in a leap year, that makes sense. A New Moon (in Aries) follows Tuesday, March 24th. <click here to read more>
One more thing: some time soon, we will archive most of the content on this page and deploy a new front page, likely something simple in the beginning. We will probably “reboot” Mystic Rectangles and might start deploying content on some of our other blogs.

Hot Degrees 2020 (from Alabe.com)
Note: as of 2020-01-26, we are no longer updating this blog EXCEPT for the links listed above.
We are a bit deeper into 2018. Maybe some time soon, I will start producing specific posts again. What I will likely focus upon will be lunations (full moon and new moon) and maybe planetary stations (especially Mercury retrograde and direct stations).
For GrandTrines and related blogs to continue, effective ways to monetize the work will be necessary. Besides needing compensation for my time, my “disk quota” is full on WordPress. This leaves me wondering how to proceed next. Do I delete the images on older blog entries? (I have already done some of that.) Do I delete old posts altogether? Or do I “go” professional and switch to a hosted solution that is monetized by advertising or donations or both that has enough money coming in to pay for a hosting solution? I am not sure of the answers, and moving forward looks difficult.
Maybe the time is at hand to only have minimal posting or possibly abandon the project altogether.
The lunation times for 2018 (Full or New Moon, based in Plano TX and Central Time) are at the end of this post. Here is a chart of the January 31st FM.
I will likely produce and deploy a series of calendars for MysticRectangles. These would definitely include my “MarsOut” monthly calendars for 2018 and might include “SunOut” weekly calendars at some later point.
But, beyond these possibilities, I can offer no promises at this time.
More Spinoffs
We started a few new blogs, spinoffs, in April (of 2017), and they might interest you:
- (The) Irregular Oracle
(A repository of our forecasts and whatever else strikes our fancy.) - Retrogrades Only (Just what it says: all posts focus on retrogrades; many reblogs!)
- Full Moons Only (Just what it says: all posts focus on Full Moons; many reblogs!)
- New Moons Only (Just what it says: all posts focus on Full Moons; many reblogs!)
Getting the bugs out of a new blog takes, at a minimum, a few days or a week, and possibly as much as a few months. While these specialty blogs are on hold for the moment, I hope to resurrect them “soon” (some time in 2018).

This Week in Astrology
Conventional webmaster wisdom says you do not direct people to a site other than one of your own. That said, we go against that wisdom here by recommending you take a look at “This Week in Astrology.”
Cafe Astrology also has an excellent 2018 ephemeris and a similar asteroid ephemeris.
Gilded Splinters has provided this Lunar Almanac for 2017-2018 which covers major lunations, Outer Planet Almanac, and Retrograde Almanac.

Lost Dudeist Astrology (and others)
Many people prefer our sibling site “Lost Dudeist Astrology,” a spinoff from this one. On Grandtrines, we focus almost entirely on astrology, astrological forecasts, astrological analysis of current events and other astrology topics.
Most of our readers prefer that approach, but some want a wider diet. Lost Dudeist Astrology (the name is based on “The Dude” and “Dudeism“) is almost entirely reblogs of astrology, numerology, tarot card based predictions, some pinups, and sometimes controversial (or “tinfoil hat,” sometimes called “fake news”) topics. Think of it as being a bit like a metaphysics website with a “National Enquirer” or “Star” feel to it. We also maintain the following sites:
- Mystic Rectangles: monthly (Marsout) aspectarians and low volume of posts; excellent for subscriptions; best fit for astrology for mobile devices.
- Weekly Forecasts is just what the name says: weekly forecasts posted once a week for the upcoming week with some reblogs of similar material from other bloggers. [As of 2017-01-01: Our own work is on hold indefinitely, but we plan to continue reblogs of weekly and monthly forecasts of others.]
You may also be interested in the reblogs of content by other astrologers on the posts page. We are working on a project on Long Term Forecasts. Frankly, we do not expect to complete this project in our lifetime. Your feedback, as we go, is appreciated.
