2016-12 W52: Forecasts for Week 52 of 2016
WEEK 52 (W52) / (EUROPEAN WEEK 51 / W51)
The Moon is waning just a few days past full with both the Winter Solstice on Wednesday the 21st along with the shift to the last quarter. By itself, those are enough to make this week “interesting” but the Mercury Retrograde station Monday precisely on the day that the College of Cardinals, er the Electoral College, meets to decide (if that is possible for them) on our new president. Let’s hope for white smoke so we can all move forward. Saturday contains the highly influential trine of Saturn to Uranus, and the following week contains the Uranus direct station. Though almost all of the Uber Liberals don’t get it, Donald Trump IS a Uranian president-elect, and this week is important to him (and us). These Uranus / Saturn / Mercury shifts on top…

2016-05 W21: Forecasts for Week 21 of 2016

2016-05 W21: Forecasts for Week 21 of 2016
We are the end of May and a series of retrogrades including Mercury Retrograde that has been with us for a few weeks (to a few months, depending on which retrograde we are talking about) will be ending. Jupiter has moved direct, and Mercury Retrograde stations direct now. Direct movement will be slow, and we will be in the “shadow” for a bit, but now is a good time to start launching truly new projects as opposed to reviewing and resurrecting old ones.
Those old projects either proved to be a good idea “after all” or they did not. If they are good, stick with them and grow them. But, if not, put them back on hold or discard them altogether. The time is at hand to look at new things and new ideas.
The Taurus New Moooon perfected on May 6th, and we have a Full Moon (Sagittarius Moon / Gemini Sun) on May 21st (a day after Sun moves into Gemini). Let’s be clear: for better or worse, “things” will change with this lunation and the accompanying Mercury direct station.
School is out, and has been out, for most students, and that particular weekend (May 21/22) marks the true beginning of “summer” for anyone who follows the academic year. But astrological summer, the official beginning of “summer,” does not begin until the Summer Solstice on June 20th (which also has another full moon). The retrograde station of Chiron on June 27th and direct station of Mars on June 29th will mark another significant shift. We will cover these events in more detail as they near, but keep in mind these critical dates as you set plans for vacations, trips, meetings, and so forth.
Sunday May 15th
Moon joins Jupiter in early morning hours (circa 3 AM CDT) and emphasizes the Grand Earth Trine that dominates the day. For most people, this is a “feel good” day though earth and water signs benefit most. Jim Shawvan notes an Opportunity Period for most of the day, and we agree. Do keep in mind that Mercury is still retrograde (as are several other planets), so either avoid doing anything “too serious” or focus on older “on hold” projects that need to relaunch. Much CAN be accomplished today, if that is your intent, but you must choose the right projects and keep in mind that some aspects may need to be revisited after Mercury retrograde ends (May 22nd) and possibly later this summer.
Monday May 16th
The opportunity period ends early and Moon is void until half past noon CDT. Some people see yesterday’s window vanish and wonder “what happened?” But you are smarter than that because you read these forecasts, right? You did take complete advantage of yesterday’s window and leave nothing undone until today, didn’t you?
If not, no worry, other windows will open again “some day.” But “getting things done” is tougher today than Sunday, and today just might have to be a cleanup day.
Tuesday May 17th
We face a decision today, a rather “loose” and open yod that dominates the afternoon. You must make a decision, and we cannot tell you which path to pick except to pick one and do not look back. You will be tempted to wonder “what might have been” if you had picked the other path. Do not waste time doing that; it would not have been any better.
Wednesday May 18th
Accomplish what you can in the early morning; a loose T-Square will give you the “juice” to do that if you can focus yourself. After a bit past 10 AM the Moon turns void and most of the rest of the day is best spent in review, cleaning house, or as a “day off.” Do keep in mind that taking a “day off” midweek can be a good idea every so often.
Thursday May 19th
To be frank, this is a rather strange day. Some people will have rather remarkable opportunities, truly gifts, come to them, but it does require intense work of some kind. The “work” may be entirely focused on addressing your emotions in certain situations or it may be actual work: doing bookkeeping or conducting an experiment or some other kind of research. Some people, as well, will be “losers” and this will be a bad day for them.
Health and educational issues will tend to come to the forefront.
This last full day of Taurus has a feeling of “fate” to it for many of us.
Friday May 20th
Sun moves into Gemini early Friday morning, and just in case you did not get the message yesterday, change is afoot. Things are about to become different, very different, for some people (if they have not already). The Full Moon is tomorrow (Saturday) and Mercury stations direct on Sunday. Windows you thought would never close are now gone forever, but others will open. Such is life.
Saturday May 21st
The Full Moon today gives us a glimpse of the future but with a few pieces missing. Today is a very important day for some people. Casual meetings that are supposed to be “fun” turn out to be critically important turning points. Some people will meet their “life partner” today and it will seem like both and “accident” and “fate” at the same time! Be assured that universe becomes “unlocked” for some people, and they are able to do certain things that transcend the ordinary.
For others, today will seem massively chaotic and like a day best spent at home. Fire and air signs tend to prosper; unenlightened variants of earth and water wonder what happened to the window that was open this past Sunday. Be assured that you will see even more change with tomorrow’s Mercury direct station and the events of next week.
Jupiter Opposite Neptune 2015-09-17 (Kites and a Yod)

Jupiter Opposite Neptune 2015-09-17 (Kites and a Yod)
First, we present links to alternative perspectives on this event:
- Alan Oken on the events occurring in Sun in Virgo 2015
- Analysis of Mercury in Libra, including retrograde, by Tara Greene
- Julie Demboski on Jupiter opposite Neptune
- Viva Combusta! (Clarissa) on Jupiter Opposite Neptune
Next, we note that this occurs a few days after a Solar Eclipse, on the day of a Mercury Retrograde Station, as Juno enters Libra, and near a Quintile Kite. (See, also: September 17th 2015 and list of Quintile Kites for 2015.)
And, this happens in the early morning hours for the Western Hemisphere, so early that the perfection almost occurs on September 16th.
We note that two overlapping Kites occur with this powerful outer planet aspect (see, also: Long Term Forecasts for links to lists of Outer Planet Aspects).
We present that version of the chart:
One important message is that the perfection of Mercury Opposite Uranus, which occurs after the Mercury Retrograde period, will be particularly important in developing the ideas and opportunities developed at this time. Pallas (innovation, particularly military innovation) and Venus (love, beauty, and money) are also involved in this kite and strongly color the flavor of the opportunity.
Another Kite, weaker, involves the Nodes (Karma), Saturn (hard work, “the basics,” tests, trials, and tribulations) and Astraea (law and the legal system). It all sounds messy and difficult as far as opportunities go unless you are a lawyer or function in some similar capacity.
A yod is also present, and we filter the chart to illustrate that pattern:
Sadly, the choice is not a very pleasant one. It is between Jupiter, normally a beneficial planet but now in “detriment” (according to the traditionalists) in Virgo and the Moon, also typically beneficial, but in the sign of Scorpio, or “fall” (according to traditionalists). For many people, this is a tough choice: a restricted form of growth that requires hard work or powerful but subtle power struggles. You will go down one path or the other, but you do have the opportunity to choose which one if you wish (instead of having the choice made for you).
While we do see some difficulties associated with this aspect, what we are really being told is that some amazing opportunities are present, but to keep from being cheated or fooled we must stay grounded and proceed carefully, checking (and sometimes double and triple checking) each fine detail, overlooking nothing. Chances are good you WILL overlook something, and you will find those omissions and errors during the upcoming Mercury Retrograde period. AFTER that period is over, you will receive powerful insights with the perfection of Mercury opposite Uranus and will be able to move forward in ways that test the limits of your imagination.
If you are reading this page in hindsight (after the perfection), you may also want to read about Mars opposite Neptune on October 6th of this year, which occurs a few days before the Mercury Direct Station.
Mercury Quincunx Neptune 2015-07-27

2015-07-27 Mercury Quincunx Neptune
We will likely update this post a bit over the next day or so. A number of patterns are in play, but we present the Mercury Quincunx chart filtered for the Yod that is in play:
The issue is about “feast and famine” (Ceres) and it could be literal (i.e. “should I go on a diet” or “should I start a new exercise program” or “I really want that piece of cake”) or more metaphorical (“what are the financial markets doing” or “should I start a new job or go back to school”). The choices are Venus Retrograde (we are having to take a hard look at our values, and we may choose the famine option to preserve those values) or Astraea (Justice). The problem is that this is associated with the perfection of Mercury Quincunx Neptune, and NO OTHER ASPECT introduces confusion into communications more than this one!
That means you need to decide, but you do not have all the facts, and you are not sure what is going on. At best, it is a messy situation that you may need to revisit when Mercury turns retrograde in September.
Mars Opp Saturn on May 15, 2015 (Hard Rectangle)

We present the chart for the Mars Opposition Saturn which culminates on May 15, 2015 (15-05-15):
We note that this opposition occurs a few days before (1) the New Moon in late Taurus and (2) the upcoming Mercury Retrograde. Mars opposite Saturn is considered difficult all by itself, but the Hard Rectangle amplifies the intensity. A Thor’s Hammer is also in play at this time:
This is a longer term Thor’s Hammer (God’s Fist) and will cover the upcoming New Moon and Mercury Retrograde station.
All this dark and potentially dangerous energy has a silver lining: a longer term Quintile Kite is present:

Funnel that energy into creative works (poetry, music, painting, photography, dance, and so forth) and you can develop something long lasting and worthwhile. Just be careful not to overdo it.
Mercury Direct Station February 11, 2015

No doubt some of you are wondering about the details of the Mercury Direct Station of February 11, 2015. We have much to say about it because a number of patterns are in play, and the maps are interesting. We start with twin yods that tell us that each of us, both collectively and individually, have TWO distinctly different decisions facing us as Mercury turns direct. Here is that chart:
In astrology, “two” sometimes means “two or more.” So, you may have a series of important decisions. One of these focuses on trust issues, and may focus on your spouse, partner, or another important significant other (Juno at apex). The other decision involves health and healthcare (Hygeia at apex). While these two COULD be linked, for the majority of people we are talking about independent decisions. The Juno (trust) decision is between Venus (usually prosperity but sometimes becoming a bit stuck) and Ceres (more risky and possibly austerity). The Hygeia decision is between Mercury (communication and transportation, but STANDING STILL) and Saturn (hard lessons but strength when those lessons are finished).
A Hele, Rosetta, and a Square Key are in play. (Not entirely surprising given the patterns of the past few days. However, THIS Hele and THIS Square Key are different from the previous ones. New variants of old dramas?)
The Hele represents a polarizing influence, and people can distinctly take sides; they will tend to be intractable (as we expect from a Hele), but the Rosetta shows a (different) conflict in which the issues are not so clear cut or organized. In that case, some people may defect and move “to the other side.” The Square Key oddly ties these conflicts together when they might otherwise be unrelated. Here is each chart, beginning with the Hele, then the Rosetta, and then the Square Key:
[Hele]
[Rosetta]
[Square Key]
Important to note is that the MOON is contained in ALL of these three patterns. This is another signal that some of the forward motion on certain issues may not really begin until the New Moon of February 18th, about a week away. (Nine days after that, on February 27th, we perfect the Jupiter Quincunx Pluto again. This will heighten any sense of agitation that we must “do something”‘ yet we cannot quite obtain the solution we seek. We suspect that a more radical transformation (Pluto) may be necessary. This particularly applies issues involving politics (Jupiter in Leo) and Economics (Pluto in Capricorn).)
Next, we show a chart of Mercury and all its aspects with other planets. We note that Venus, Pluto, Ceres, and Astraea are excluded. The remainder are in some kind of aspect (some higher order).
For those interested in seeing all of the aspects in play, this chart may be most useful:
Here are the maps: We start with the United States, Canada, and Mexico:
This is an unusually complex map (for the U.S.). The Jupiter / Saturn crossing at San Francisco activates that city AGAIN. While we cannot say precisely what this means, it almost certainly relates to finances and probably has some kind of impact on Wall Street in NYC. We see a Sun line cross Idaho, Nevada, and the portion of California roughly midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. (Sun lines are usually benevolent.) Neptune and Chiron lines cross at the “Four Corners,” and they tell us this region needs some kind of “healing.”
Venus and Mars ascendant lines light up the midwest, from North Dakota to Texas. What do these two mean together? In more literal translations they mean “sex” (Mars) and “love” (Venus) or arguably the male (Mars) and female (Venus) principles. In more practical day to day terms, we think people in this region will be ready to move forward on some key issue even more than others at this time of doing precisely that (moving forward).
Chicago is located midway between a Uranus and North Node line (that travels from Wisconsin to the “panhandle” of Eastern Florida. Expect surprises if you live in this region, and be aware that you can obtain some brilliant insights at this time. As an aside, I would not be surprised to learn that the Powerball winners for the big jackpot at this time (half a billion USD) live somewhere near these lines.
Pluto, Ceres, and Astraea lines light up the eastern portion of the U.S., especially Pittsburg/Youngstown OH, West Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia. Turmoil and conflict leading to major changes may arise in these regions.
We do not duplicate these explanations for Canada or Mexico since they are easily extended to those maps:
Well, maybe we will note four: (1) the Jupiter line (usually benevolent but always an amplifier) touches Calgary, (2) Vancouver is affected by the Saturn line (the same one that touches San Francisco), (3) the Mars Ascendant line comes quite close to Winnipeg, and (4) the Pluto and Ceres lines affect the region due west of Toronto.
Monterrey has the Mars line nearby (possibly indicating more unrest); Guadalajara (Venus line) is a better pick if you are taking a short vacation to Mexico at this time.
Here is the map of the UK:
The Pallas line (warrior intelligence, a line of focused insight) touches the center of Ireland, from Derry to Cork. This line picks up a far edge of Scotland also. Aberdeen is touched by a Mercury line (and given that Mercury is stationary in this chart we assume this could mean communication or transportation problems possibly followed by insightful solutions). Much of the UK appears unaffected, but we suspect that if we drew a “midpoint line” involving Pallas and Mercury that the UK would light up. (What does that mean? Some initial problems in transportation or communication or both followed possibly by some ingenious insights.)
We zoom out to the Europe map:
The Mercury line that touches Aberdeen affects much of Western Europe, as does a corresponding Vesta line. We see Uranus crossing near the French / Swiss border and would not be surprised to hear of either (1) a breakthrough at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) or (2) some kind of accident or even (3) both. An Astraea Midheaven line comes near Munich (Munchen) and signifies that issues of bringing criminals to justice may come into the spotlight. The Vesta line that touches Aberdeen also touches Frankfurt. The Jupiter Ascendant line brings prospectives of a newfound prosperity to Warsaw and strength to Poland as well as Bucharest and Romania.
Here is the map for Scandinavia:
The Node line (karma) touches Stavanger in Norway bringing the idea of “reaping what you sow.” Metaphorically, the “good little boys and girls” should do well while the bad ones will receive “ashes and switches.” A Uranus line touches Norway as well, bringing surprises in the form of accidents, insights, or both. (“Watson, come here.”) Sweden is touched by Jupiter (same as Poland) and Sun lines, Stockholm is midway between them, and this tends to signal prosperity for this region. (Spring may start early?)
Here is the map for Australia and New Zealand:
We see a crossing of Saturn and Jupiter lines (similar to San Francisco) at the southern cost. Not TOO far from Perth we see an IC Mercury line, and this could indicate communications or transportations difficulties in this reason. Being an IC line (“the grave”), this could result in significant loss of life. The Jupiter line touches Alice Springs, but most of the rest of the region is quiet. (Except for the Mars line touching southern New Zealand.)
At this point, we present maps for India, Japan, and SE Asia without comment. (Until we can add a further update.)
India and the surrounding region is a bit complex. The Mars descendant line pierces the middle of the country, running North to South and coming near a number of the most populous regions. People may feel the need to “get things done,” athletes may have breakthroughs, and some conflicts (including physical ones) may emerge. Pallas and Venus affect Surat, Ahmadabad, and Bombay, bringing the prospect of the successful implementation of breakthrough ideas that bring prosperity to these areas. Kabul in Afghanistan has the Chiron Descendant line nearby, signaling the possibility of a desperately needed healing of relationships.
The Jupiter Midheaven (MC) line brings prosperity to southern Japan (particularly the region between Hiroshima and Kyoto/Osaka). A Sun / Moon crossing near Tokyo signals the same thing, though not as strong as southern Japan. Japan is about to move into better, and stronger, times.
We end with a map of the region of Southeast Asia and note, as we typically do, that this is a complex map. Consequently, we will leave the interpretation open. (Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore have FIVE lines running through them! These are “interesting” times.) Here is a map of Malaysia and the surrounding region:
A relocated chart to Kuala Lumpur looks like this:
We note Pluto on the IC (bottom of the chart, “the grave”) and Astraea on the descendant.

2013 Full Moon (Algol Squares: Taurus / Scorpio)

The event obviously tied to this full moon (typhoon Haiyan aka Yolanda) occurred BEFORE the culmination of this most malefic of FM’s. We provide the chart, here, set in first in Tacloban (we note the Moon at MC and the Sun at the IC; the IC is the location of a “grave” and the FM culminates close to midnight local time) and then Plano. We also note that this was the FM following a Mercury retrograde, and it occurs during a period of difficulty discussed in an earlier post. We also note a sextile, a tight one, between Pluto (death & rebirth) and Chiron (healing, lessons learned) at this time.
If your personal belief system supports such a notion, this would be a good time to have a ceremony, perhaps just lighting a candle, to honor and remember the dead.

Mercury Retrograde 2013 (February through March)

Apparently the Solar Fire Electional search feature (in versions 7 & 8) does not have the ability to identify the beginning and end of retrograde periods. So, we are using the following sources to identify Mercury retrograde periods for 2013:
(1) http://www.light-weaver.com/calendar/mercury_retro.html
(2) http://www.findyourfate.com/astrology/year2013/2013-mercury-retrograde.html
We note that source #1 shows Mercury Retrograde as starting at 4:41 am EST on February 23rd and source #3 as the exact moment as 3:41 am EST. (Of course, we adjust to Central Time since we cast the charts for Plano.) Since the Daily Planetary Guide says 4:41 EST, we will use that as the tie-breaker.
Update: Tech support has given me a workaround for finding Mercury Retrograde periods using Electional Search:
Electional Search
Choose CoordinatesTransiting point =Mercury
Coordinate type = Long.Speed
Comparison type= <Comparison value = 0
But, for this post, we will stick with the original analysis.
Here is the chart for the beginning of the retrograde cycle:
And the Retrograde period ends on March 17th (St. Patricks Day)
Here is the U.S. Map for this chart. We note a powerful activation that crosses Houston and central Mexico. It is a combination of Pluto and an asteroid known for bringing about Justice. We suspect that this will be a particularly bad time for organized crime entities that are connected to this geography. Surprises are coming for them.

We see that both the Netherlands and the UK are particularly active, also:
Australia and New Zealand are highly activated:
India is comparatively quiet, except Raipur (and to some degree Delhi):

2012 August Mercury Retrograde and More
August 4, 2012 at 10:49 pm | Posted in Astrology, BadDays, Lunations, Patterns, Predictions, Retrogrades, Weekends | 5 CommentsTags: algol, Algol Day, Astrology, baddays, BadLuck, full moon, FullMoon, Mars, Mercury, mercury direct, Moon, Neptune, newmoon, Patterns, Predictions, Retrogrades, week, Weekend
Wondering what is coming up in the rest of August, 2012?
August 7/8 (depending on time zone): Mercury Retrograde: We like the Cafe Astrology treatment of this upcoming Direct Station. Regardless of your natal sun sign, the few days after the direct station are a good time to launch something. The two weeks after the direct station (and before the retrograde station) can have some rough spots, but consider launching anyway. Sometimes (overdue) things come to instead. Whether this is “good” or “bad” depends on your values and what you have done in the past.
August 17: New Moon: This late Leo new moon perfects in all U.S. time zones, England, and Western European (and some Eastern European) time zones on this date. As with all New Moons, the week before is a good time to clean out and throw away, especially if you plan to return to school this fall. You can probably find some great sale items in this period but BE CERTAIN TO CLEAN OUT FIRST. The ten day period from the Direct Station to the New Moon is probably a good time to do this. If you can, think about giving something to someone who can use it or someone less fortunate. Avoid the landfill if you can.
Although I will not delineate the details in this particular blog post, this is an unusually important new moon because of its location (25 Leo). Both 15 Leo and 25 Leo have long been a source of controversy. This New Moon squares Algol, among other things. (Although Algol is now at 26 Taurus, for most people born prior to the year 2000 it was at 25 Taurus. And, the orb for a New Moon is typically 5 degrees.) We have discussed a Moon / Algol activation elsewhere, and it began a period of time characterized by a coal mine disaster, large loss of life in an airliner crash in Eastern Europe, and that culminated the Deepwater Horizon disaster. (We are guessing that the chain of events here could also extend a similar period of time.)
This New Moon also precisely opposes the Aquarius Moon (25 Aquarius) of the United States’ “Scorpio Rising” chart. (This article about that chart and U.S. Presidents is interesting.) A brief check of the history of August 17, in general, shows a remarkable number of military operations on this date.
The period ranging from August 14th through the end of August looks like a period of instability with potential for a significant disaster of some kind. The New Moon looks especially risky. And, again, this period may extend as far as the Autumnal Equinox.
The period before a new moon is often used for fasting for both physical and spiritual reasons. It can be a very good time for weight loss, so you might successfully start a diet the day after the Mercury Direct station. Some yoga practitioners conduct a brown rice fast at this time. And, pray for peace.
August 21/22: Sun Enters Virgo: about 3 to 4 hours prior to the entry of the Sun into Virgo BOTH the Sun and the Moon are void. Most of us are asleep at this time. BUT, this is a very good time to “let go” of things. You will want the precise times for your time zone. Locally, in Plano, the period begins shortly after 2am and ends just past noon. (That is not three to four hours, but the Moon leaves its void and enters Scorpio about 4am. But the Sun does not enter Virgo until just past Noon. And, THAT is when the period is completely finished.)
Try not to to schedule anything important during this period. Again, the best use of this period is to “let go” of something, “break a habit,” start weaning a child, or something similar.
PRIOR to this period, for most or all of August 21st, is a period that is probably extremely useful for creative problem solving and/or brainstorming. This is a good time to develop a plan, or solve any nagging problems, as a prelude to the period of “letting go” described above.
Mars is also void starting about an hour earlier (1am locally) until a bit past 10am on Thursday, August 23rd. If you could extend your “letting go” period until this time, then that would be even better. Many of us cannot do that. So, keep things routine until past the 23rd. (But, the Mercury sextile Jupiter the evening (Plano) of August 22nd would be a good time to write letters, poetry, novels, etc. Just do not mail them or act on them until Thursday afternoon or later.
August 24: Sun (Virgo) opposes Neptune (Pisces). Great for poetry and insights. A possibility of illness, especially for Gemini, Virgo, Sadge, and Pisces. If you are an alcoholic, drug addict, or “just party too much,” then a risky day for you. Moon in Sadge makes this aspect a T-Square and picks up Chiron in the process. It is a tough day, though Jim Shawvan finds an Opportunity Period here.
August 25: Mars Trines Neptune either late Saturday (Plano & East Coast) or Sunday (California). This is a very good time for “smooth talkers” and a bad time for those who tend to be even a little bit gullible. Essentially the aspect governs the day, and probably the prior Thursday and Friday, and makes this a risky time for many. Just do not believe ANYthing a politician says at this time. They, and the talking heads on TV (including financial sector), just cannot be believed. Sign nothing. Commit to nothing. Pay close attention to whomever you meet at this time.
For some, Sunday will be a day of reckoning when the Moon enters Capricorn and then conjoins Pluto.
August 29th: Sun (Virgo) trines Pluto (Capricorn). Financial services industry becomes “interesting” again. People coming back to school find this day difficult. Power struggles emerge, and bullies pick this day to assert themselves. (Proper planning, but not action, on the 24/25th can shift this.)
Mercury (late Leo) sextile Saturn (late Libra) creates an atmosphere of semi-panic about overdue work consequent to procrastination that must be finished now. Students experience the first truly difficult homework of the semester. Other find things left from earlier this summer (Mercury retrograde) that were not done but now must be completed (possibly by the nearby end of August).
August 30th: Sun (Virgo) opposes Chiron (Pisces) causing old dramas to re-surface. For some returning to school at this time, this will be a difficult day. Some of the pain may be consequent to events that occur the day before. The Sun is also inconjunct Uranus (Aries), and by itself that would make this a difficult day. If that happened by itself, that would make today difficult, but more happens. Then, Mercury goes void (that can be a hair raising time) about 1pm (Plano, CDT) and stays that way until about 9:30p Friday. Watch what you say; words may be difficult to impossible to “take back.”
The waxing full Moon is felt most strongly this evening, and being in Virgo/Pisces secrets will slip out and you WILL tend to say things you regret. This is a great night (and day) to stay home unless you are one of the slick teflon people mentioned earlier. This would also be a good evening for the police to “go after” slick teflon people.
August 31st: Full Moon. In addition to the above issue with Mercury, the Moon goes full on Friday morning. This is a Piscean Full Moon opposite a Virgo Sun. Moon (Pisces) sextiles Pluto (Capricorn) first (a bit more power struggle), immediately joins Chiron (the wounded healer) which leaves certain people contrite and others feeling an (overdue) sense of justice, opposes the Sun (spilling more secrets), and then squares Jupiter (Gemini). This last one might lead to unnecessary expenses or overeating. (Or might lead to a need for bail money for some of the teflon guys.) This is a VERY good time for police to conduct criminal investigations and make arrests.
September 1st: Another Teflon Saturday. Mercury (Virgo) opposes Neptune (Pisces) and more people spill secrets they should keep to themselves. This is a very good day for writing poetry and song lyrics. And, all of this Neptune / Pisces activity (since the previous weekend) is very good for filmmakers and photographers. Artists will like this time. But, don’t spill the beans if you can avoid it.
Weekend of January 30th Dominated by Mercury Direct Station
January 30, 2009 at 12:57 pm | Posted in Astrology, Predictions, Retrogrades, Weekends | 5 CommentsTags: aries, ceres, diet, direct, eclipse, famine, feast, FingerOfGod, Mercury, mercury direct, mercury retrograde, Moon, Saturn, Yod, Yods
What eclipses this weekend (sorry), is the Mercury Direct station. This this station follows so closely after the eclipse is even more of a sign of changes to come.
For many of us, personally, this presents another major turning point in the diet issue. Will we feast or will we famine? If you are fighting this issue, this weekend is an important milestone. You will especially find Saturday frustrating, as your plans to stay on track are upset by Mercury changing directions. As I have written before, keep in mind that if you fall down you can get back up.
But even if you are not fighting the diet fight, you will feel the shift in other ways.
Friday morning starts slowly, but the day becomes more “lively” with a possible power struggle or financial issue in the afternoon.
Friday has a quiet Piscean period which includes a void from about 3am Dallas time (6am UK) until the Moon enters Aries after 9am. Aries Moons tend to bring about activity. And this Moon squares Pluto early, as early Aries Moons will do for the next few years.
Plutonic activity often signifies concerns over taxes. (It is that time of year again, isn’t it?) This can be a sign of other disputes, or perhaps intense sexual activity. By itself, it is not a major aspect, but following so closely after an eclipse it can signify that you will see a major turning point in your life this afternoon. Keep your eyes open.
The day ends pleasantly enough with an aspect to Jupiter.
Saturday is the peak day in the diet battle, and Saturday also brings to fore issues with with “will” and the intensity needed to get things done. This is embodied in a “finger of God” that has Ceres (food) and Saturn (structure, willpower) at the focal point, and the Moon in Aries at one fork and five planets in Aquarius at the other fork.
The five planets in Aquarius speaks to use tending to decide to do “what the group wants to do.” If you have a support group, this is a good time to attend activities. Go to OA if you attend that, or an extra Weight Watchers if you attend that.
For many of us, we see a drama that includes three different groups: (1) a group of people, possibly five or more, who advocate THEIR viewpoint; (2) an authority figure and possibly a “young lady” (who could be engaged to marry); and (3) a lone, but exteremly strong, female. When we think of this “lone female” think of Diana the Warrior.
I cannot say who will win this battle of wills, but I can say that the drama will be a lively one. Enjoy!
January 6, 2009 A Mostly Uneventful Day

The way writing astrology columns goes is that I am supposed to tell you about some dramatic event. I’ve already covered that with Jupiter moving into Aquarius on Monday and the upcoming Full Moon on Saturday followed by the Mercury Retrograde Station on Sunday.
To be sure, these are interesting times that ask us to scrutinize our thoughts, communications, and travel. But, today, TODAY (Jan 6th) is relatively quiet and uneventful. You probably know the name for this: “the calm before the storm.”
You should already be noticing glitches in your life, a bit like when Neo notices the black cat walk by and then again. Mercury Retrograde “reprograms” our “Matrix” a bit. So, as you may choose, take advantage of this brief calm period to prepare for the approaching storm.
Jan 5, 2009: Jupiter Moves into Aquarius
January 5, 2009 at 2:42 am | Posted in Astrology, Predictions, Retrogrades | 1 CommentTags: Jupiter, Mercury, mercury retrograde
“Jupiter Moves into Aquarius.” What does that mean if you are not an astrologer?
This shift indicates a move in power from Corporate America & “Big Business” into the grass roots voter. But, it will affect many other areas, particularly higher education and the legal system. And, long-range travel, such as vacations by cruise, may be revolutionized by this shift.
If any of this is your order of business, be assured that “things” may be a bit unclear until after January 19th. On that date, Jupiter moves out of the first three degrees of Aquarius. That, by itself, may not be enough; you may have to wait until Mercury goes Direct on February 1st.
If you really want to know what this Jupiter transit means to you, personally, you need to look at the period between January 21st of 1997 and February 4th of 1998. Other major influences were present (notably Uranus in Aquarius), so you’ll have to focus on “things Jupiter.” (Courts & Legal, long term travel, Higher Education, Ambassadors & Foreigners, perhaps “growing” a new business.)
Whatever MAJOR event you did at that time in your life (going back to school, quitting school, etc.), you are about to somehow revisit it.
Today (Jan 5th, 2009) is a relatively routine day. Take a few moments to ponder the events of 1997 and how they might be relevant to your life today.
2009 Retrograde Calendar

Just in case you want to know more about when the retrograde periods will be in 2009, I’ve located a handy “Retrograde Calendar” at ArtCharts.com
Christmas, 2008 (Sextiles, and Conjuncts, and Trines, Oh My!)

For this column, since about September or October of 2008, I usually follow two rules: (1) Keep it Short (two or three, maybe four, paragraphs); (2) Keep it Simple (Most people don’t really care if Mercury Sextiles Uranus or not, but they DO want to now that this would be a time for creativity in both finances and the arts.) This time, I’m going to break both of those rules.
Before I go any further, I want to may plugs for two sites I’ve found recently. I like what I’ve seen in both places: (1) http://www.newworldastrology.blogspot.com/ and (2) http://astrologyscout.com/ This last one is an astrology aggregator, and includes my site as well as others.
This prediction is for the general period from the Winters Solstice of 2008 until the following New Moon on Saturday, December 27th.
Tuesday (today): Venus Conjoins Chiron (both in late Aquarius) to bring to the forefront issues of healing. Late Aquarius is really about justice, especially social justice, more than any other part of the Zodiac, including all of Libra. Late Aquarius is the “Libra Decan” of Aquarius, and Aquarius won’t let things rest until the appropriate change has come to pass. Venus is love, beauty, health, and finances, and it joins with the “Wounded Healer” today. Try to resolve disputes today, and if not today by Saturday. Any thoughts that you can cover up or shut up someone will bite you badly, probably within a few days of January 11th.
Wednesday: Just in case you didn’t get yesterday’s message: this period is about healing old wounds. Take a look at your family and your economic sustenance (your business, workplace, or whatever you do to “take home the groceries”). Some innovative ideas may come to you today, but realize that this aspect of Mercury (in Capricorn) Sextile Uranus (in Pisces) will favor Earth and Water Signs the most. Creative finance engendered today will either go very well or very badly. Don’t debt, no matter what the temptation.
Thursday: This is a mostly uneventful Christmas that turns back into “business” as usual in the evening for those on the East Coast, early afternoon for those on the West Coast, and about Midnight for those in the UK. Do what most people do: spend the day with family today. One special exception: (re-read Tuesday): visiting those in Nursing Homes and other Institutions who have been left alone and abandoned. If you know someone who works this day (nurse, police officer, etc.), please do something special for them. A special, and unexpected, gift may come to you if you do these things today (or yesterday).
Friday: Issues from the time of the Full Moon on December 12th to Monday December 15th have re-surfaced due to yesterday evenings “T-Square” activation of the “Grand Cross” of that time. For you, that means today has a kind of frantic feel to it. This isn’t just about returning goods or “re-gifting” or any of that stuff. Urgent issues come to light, and not enough time seems available. Actually, you are right. Not enough time is available, and that situation will get worse, much worse, between now and January 11th. Don’t be afraid to work as hard as you need to; do “get things done.” Remember, today is mostly about cleanout and planning. Do NOT launch any new ventures until Monday. (However, you might want to refer to the Daily Planetary Guide and Jim Shawvan’s note of a Cazimi period about 7am EST on Saturday morning.)
Saturday: The VERY short Cazimi period is useful to get a very SMALL handful of focused items done. This lasts for a MAXIMUM of an hour, starting about 6:30 AM EST. After that, the rest of today is about “down time.” Play if you will, but don’t do anything dangerous or “too” physical. Today is a good day for romance, but probably a bad day for anything to last. Romances STARTED today (you meet that special new person) have a tendency to fizzle, and that will probably happen by January 11th.
Think of Saturday as “Love Potion #9” day: you’ll be kissing everything in sight, until you kiss the Policeman and 11th and Vine. 🙂
Mercury Retrograde: Why do I keep mentioning January 11th? That is the day of the Mercury Retrograde station for the next retrograde. We’ll be entering the “storm” phase soon, and getting things done will be difficult. Expect misplaced items, lost messages, and delays. If you DO “clean house” during this period, then the few weeks after January 11th can become very useful as you can focus the retrograde energy on rediscovering old projects that deserve a second look. Please have you vehicle (car, boat, or otherwise) serviced as soon as possible. You don’t want “that” kind of surprise.
December 12, 2008 Full Moon and Grand Cross
December 12, 2008 at 8:57 am | Posted in Astrology, Lunations, Predictions, Retrogrades, Weekends | 1 CommentTags: FullMoon, Gemini, Mercury, mercury retrograde, Moon, opportunity, Pluto, Retrogrades, sadg, Sagittarius, Saturn, Sun, Uranus
We saw a slightly reversed version of this energy “about” June 18th, earlier this year. If you want to understand today, and the few days before and after today (roughly Wednesday through Monday), you need to closely examine whatever you were doing “around” June 18th of that time. Of course, the key event may have occurred on the 17th or 19th, or 16th or 20th for some people. You’ll find important answers by looking at that time.
Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces will find today, and this period, to be “interesting.” For some, it will be irritating and annoying; for others they will find opportunity. The opportunity may not be entirely obvious, show you have to keep your eyes open. (The advice in the previous paragraph should be helpful.)
Mars and Uranus are interacting in such as way as to cause accidents and fights in the “low form” and intensely driven passions in innovation in the “high form.” How you use that energy is up to you. But, if you are at all a problem solver, this is your time to make things happen, particularly related to education, the courts, photography, video, poetry, or composing (music).
Mercury joined to Pluto has the potential to produce some very angry words, exacerbating the likelihood of the “low form” of the energy in the previous paragraph. But, this energy, too, can spur a “turning point.” Just be aware that your art or poetry made have a bit of an angry or energetic feel to it. Paintings & prints with dominant reds and oranges are most favored. Passionate music that speaks out against an injustice is favored for composers.
Sun and Saturn tell us that we must focus on the details. Today is NOT the day to be sloppy in your efforts. A mercury retrograde is lurking in January, so I’d wrap up key agreements and negotiations soon. After this morning, buyers are favored. A few good deals can be had in this holiday season.
This can be a very good weekend for shopping.
Sunday, November 2, 2008 A Fuzzy Day
November 1, 2008 at 1:48 pm | Posted in Predictions, Retrogrades, Weekends | 1 CommentTags: Moon, Neptune, photoshop, Pluto
The Party’s Over
Daily Savings Time ends for many. Neptune has or is stationing direct, and Neptune is all about fuzziness. On the bad side, it is the kind of fuzziness that gets drunk drivers into very bad accidents. Please do be careful tonight if you are continuing to party.
If you use Stumbleupon, you’ll just notice even less sleep than usual. Time to take a nap for you!
Photoshop and the Vaseline Lens
On the good side, “Neptune Direct” is the photographer’s filters that “help” older models and actresses to show fewer lines.
Uranus (electronics, computers, software) cotinues to reside in Pisces, so it influences things Neptune. (12th House = Pisces = Neptune; they are all different faces of the same thing). So, today, it isn’t Vaseline on the lens anymore; it is “Photoshop.” (The Vaseline was much cheaper and easier to use, wasn’t it?)
I suppose it would be extraordinarily inappropriate of me to mention any political candidates here. So, I won’t mention McCain, Palin, Obama, Biden, or the Clintons as possible consumers of the old vaseline lens trick. (Can you Photoshop video?)
You know the old saying “seeing is believing”? No longer true with Neptune and the child of Uranus in Pisces (Photoshop):
Saturday November 1, 2008 will be Ladies Night All Day
October 31, 2008 at 12:01 pm | Posted in Astrology, Predictions, Retrogrades, Weekends | Comments Off on Saturday November 1, 2008 will be Ladies Night All DayTags: Moon, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, Venus
This is a good day for males to hide from females. Venus (very feminine and sexy females) and the Moon (includes Venus and all other females including Mrs. McCluskey from Desperate Housewives) Join together to afflict both Saturn (authority figures and grumpy old men) and Uranus (Rebels without a cause, both young men and masculine Lesbians of any age).
If you are a male, then you’d better treat your women nicely. Don’t be surprised if the issue has to do with either the legal system, higher education, or travel. Or, you may find yourself enamored by a woman foreign to your culture.
If you are a woman, of course, everything is turned around. You’ll be in conflict with your men, and you might be caught between the stern and the rebellious. You’ll find allies in other women today.
Neptune is making a direct station, and this brings confusion to most. Alcoholics and drug addicts in treatment get released, and this is a pivotal time. The appearance may be one of little progress though great progress is being made. Others will enter treatment at this time, and they might just ‘make it.’ Artists get creative breakthroughs, and poets get a fresh start. If you can, go play on this day. Just watch out for conflicts with lesbian police officers with “an axe to grind.”
Thursday October 30, 2008 A Moon Void Day
October 29, 2008 at 11:15 pm | Posted in Astrology, Predictions, Retrogrades | Comments Off on Thursday October 30, 2008 A Moon Void DayTags: Mars, Mercury, Moon, Neptune, Saturn, VoidOfCourse
Some time after midnight in Eastern and Central time zones, and about 8AM in the UK, the Moon in Scorpio (police, death) squares Neptune (confusion) in Aquarius (accidents). Most of us in the United States will be asleep, but the effect could be rather unfortunate on UK and European rush-hour traffic.
This void sets the tone for the remainder of the day. This is another great day for arists, poets, and dreamers, as long as none of them are driving or in potentially dangerous situations. Drunk drivers will tend to get into trouble on this day, and the damage could be significant.
Mercury trines Neptune in the void. This could be a very good time for copywriters and marketing specialist to do their work. Maybe not the best time to sell, but you’d need to have an independent astrologer verify this for your chart and situation. Note that Mercury is emerging from the “shadow” of the retrograde, so things could really take off some time in the next few days.
The Mars-Saturn interaction that starts the evening is rather somber. This is a good evening for most to stay home. Except for evening and night workers, those in the UK may be asleep by the time this aspect perfects. Since the aspect involves outer planets, it has the opportunity to affect several days, through Saturday, as discussed elsewhere.
For finances and investment banking, don’t get your hopes too high. Those pretty pictures and words developed by the copywriters (mentioned above) may not quite represent reality. To be sure, sign no contracts on this day or make major purchases.
