Full Moon 2021-03-28 (Libra Moon opposite Aries Sun)
This is the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox, and it precedes Easter on April 5, 2021.
This FM has interesting activity:
- Hard Rectangle : like a Thor’s Hammer, tempers flare BUT an amazing amount of work can be accomplished if the energy can be focused into accomplishment
- Yod : We each face a decision of some kind, individually (based on your chart) and collectively (because of the Hele); it is a difficult decision, and it risks upsets or accidents or ambushes or wrong decisions (given the Hard Rectangle) that lead to conflict (fights, battles, wars); The Moon is at apex of the yod (the “focal” energy) with Uranus (surprises, electrical shocks, explosions, ambushes, sometimes brilliant mental insight and solutions) on one leg and asteroid Pallas (also brilliant mental insight and solutions but they tend to be “military” in nature given that Pallas sprang fully formed and armored from the head of her father (Zeus / Jupiter / Thor, depending on whose pantheon you have adopted). Both solutions are “close” and similar but NOT the same. Though Solar Fire did not read it this way, this is a FOCUSED Yod with the Moon at Apex and Sun / Chiron / Venus conjunct at the Focal Point (and opposite the Moon). *IF* properly focused, again, you can accomplish MUCH, some of it of a breakthrough nature.
- Kite or “Kite Almost” : opportunities are present; this is “luck” for some
- Hele : in some form these have been present for weeks; it is all about politics and political alignments; cohesion within parties is strong; conflict is public; expect our current messes to WORSEN rather than needed fixes be applied
- Grand Trines : the aspect for which this blog is named; these tend to make for “easy” times but the Hard Rectangle will override that; in that case, again, these can be “luck” if the energy of the times is properly focused; (look for opportunities; they WILL be present!)
- T-Squares : T-Squares seem to always be present; these are associated at least in part with recent the recent Grand Cross and associated tragedies; a push will exist to “get things done” but the question becomes : “what does that mean?” Wrong solutions are tempting if they are “easy.”(Don’t take “the easy way out.” Work through your own issues instead of expecting a scapegoat.)

Vernal Equinox of 2021
March 13, 2021 at 11:46 pm | Posted in 2021, Annual Repeating Aspects, Astrology, Astrology 2021, Hele, Patterns, Predictions, Special Days, Thor's Hammer | 5 CommentsTags: Astrology, Astrology 2021, Double Yod Key, God's fist, Hele, Thor's Hammer, vernal equinox, Vernal Equinox 2021, Yod, Yods
Vernal Equinox 2021 : A Worrisome Thor’s Hammer
Summary : a Thor’s Hammer at this time involving Mars (peregrine), Pluto, and Vesta is a cause for concern regarding an event involving collectives such as military, police, or allied health. This pattern at this time may signal a mass casualty on or near this date.
Subsequent Events:
- Georgia Spa Killings March 16th (before Equinox but after this analysis was posted)
- Denver Shootings March 22nd
Thor’s Hammer : Horary Chart
Here is the horary version of the Vernal Equinox 2021 chart. I offer this first because it points out that Mars (part of the pattern) is also (1) peregrine (an unfavorable position, a “thief” of sorts) and (2) opposite the “Part of Fatality.”
[Click Image to Open in New Tab]
The Thor’s Hammer is associated with explosions, mining disasters, airplane crashes, and train wrecks. Maybe the most notably example in recent decades is found in the birth chart of Adam Lanza (see, also this entry), the Sandy Hook School Shooter.
This particular tragedy could involve a shooter.
Here is the Beginners Version of the same chart:
[Click Image to Open in New Tab]
The possibility of a disaster worries us. We provide a United States map, below, that may identify likely geographies. (One line runs through my home state of Texas. Wasn’t the ice storm, “Winter Storm Uri,” enough?)
Events of concern may not occur “day of” the equinox. Mars perfects the square to Vesta 7 AM Sunday Morning (March 21st), and Mars perfects the sesquiquadrate to Pluto on March 23rd. The window from March 19th through March 24th should be considered “risky.”
How to proceed? (1) Stay away from dangerous people, places, and things. (2) Know that this is a an EXCELLENT time for FOCUSED EFFORT *IF* you can avoid anger despite the inevitable nuisances that will challenge. Today, and the period from March 19th to March 24th, SAFETY is the most important consideration. Everything else flows from that.
Thieves will likely be operative in this window, so keep possessions safe, also.
Hele
A Hele is also present, a sign of internal agreements in groups (such as political parties) but disputes, sometimes acrimonious disputes, between groups (such as political parties). Political events may yet heat up again.
[Click Image to Open in New Tab]
Yod
March of 2021 is a month of important decisions. This chart has a yod, also, emphasizing that many of us will face an important decision at this time.
[Click Image to Open in New Tab]
Note that the apex of the Yod includes Vesta, also part of the aforementioned Thor’s Hammer. The disaster, or maybe just a “difficult time,” will lead collectives into making an important decision, a fork in the road.
You will feel this, no matter who you are, and you will face your own decisions.
More Decisions : A Double Yod Key Follows
Later, the next day, the decisions made cascade into other decisions as the Yod becomes a “Double Yod Key,” a sign of at least two more decisions, maybe a chain of many decisions.
Once each path is picked, no turning back is possible.

Sun Conjunct Chiron (2020-03-25, March 25th) : A Summary
March 25, 2020 at 1:49 am | Posted in 2020, 2020-Annual-Events, Annual Repeating Aspects, Astrology, Special Days | 9 CommentsTags: Annual events, Astrology, ceres, Chiron, Conjunct Chiron, Coronavirus 2020, Covid19, semi-square, semisquare, Sun, Sun Conjunct, Sun Conjunct Chiron
We can make it through this. But the stellium in Capricorn tells us, to quote Ringo Starr, “It don’t come easy.”
In Sun Conjunct Chiron 2020-03-25 we presented a detailed analysis of the Sun/Chiron aspect of March 25th 2020. Some readers may want less detail, and we provide here an abstract. What do the signs of the sky tell us at this moment?
Sun conjunct Chiron happens annually, shifting each year until it is in a new sign after several years. Chiron stays in Aries until June of 2026, so we will see different versions of these lessons repeat through 2026.
No obvious patterns are present in this chart. The meaning is not obvious. We have to “dig deeper” with this chart to find the messages of the moment.
Sun/Chiron is semisquare Ceres. That aspect tells us what we already know: Sun (our life in general) combined with healing issues (Chiron) is in a conflict with issues of Ceres, meaning “feast and famine.” Many of us are worried about the basics as the fears related to the Covid19 pandemic take root.
Regarding the conflict between Venus and Ceres (square): in the abstract sense the issue is the financial markets and “liquidity.” In the practical sense: supply chains and, more specifically, FOOD.
How do we know this? The mythology associated with the celestial objects gives us the answer: Ceres, aka Demeter, was “was in charge of the harvest. If Ceres was upset, the crops could die.” And, in this chart, Ceres is upset in its relationship with Sun/Chiron. (Sun = self; Chiron = healing & teaching) Our healing issues (such as Covid19) are in a significant conflict with our source of nourishment (supply chains in modern economies).
Financial markets are in trouble (Venus, in her home but square to Ceres). Bailouts are coming, but we need the people that represent us in the government to put an absolute prohibition on misuse of the funds in place and enforce it. No more “stock buybacks” (as airlines did with bailout money) or “bonuses” from the bailout money.
Uranus (Prometheus) will give us some slick ideas of how to “do it how we have always done it” only slightly different but much better. We do not have to scrap ALL our old ideas to work our way out of the Coronavirus Pandemic. The right “aha” moments can help us make it through this. Innovation is critical.
Expect lawsuits. Abuses will be uncovered. If you see misconduct, take pictures, record video, record audio, capture everything you can and send it out to as many people as you can, maybe to your attorney along the way.
The semi-squares in the chart tell us that a TON of tension is “out there” in the world. People are pissed off, and they are having difficulty holding it together. This chart tells us that. Best to avoid dangerous people, places, and situations for the moment. Whatever the risk is, the possible reward is likely not worth the possible damage.

Sun Conjunct Chiron 2020-03-25

Sun Conjunct Chiron 2020-03-25
Sun conjunct Chiron happens annually, shifting each year until it is in a new sign after approximately four to five years but varies due to an erratic orbit. Chiron has an orbit of about fifty years, giving about four years per sign. It is new to Aries and will repeat similar versions from year to year for the next few year until 2026.
Chart for Sun Conjunct Chiron, March 25, 2020
Bur, What Does It Mean?
No obvious patterns are present. 7th Harmonic continues to be active in the same way as before, and we have discussed it several times elsewhere. Any of a number of websites discuss Sun Conjunct Chiron specifically; we will provide links to them below. Our commentary focuses on this chart, the chart for Sun Conjunct Chiron on March 25, 2020 (set in Plano, TX).
The meaning is not obvious. We have to “dig deeper” with this chart.
Sesquisquare Ceres
This chart hides its messages well, but they are there if you look for them (and know where to look). In this case, the combination of Sun/Chiron is semisquare Ceres. (As an aside, this chart is particularly heavy with the semisquare / sesquiquadrate aspects, something we will look at in the next session.) But, WHAT does that MEAN?
S/C semisquare Ceres tells us what we already know: Sun (our life in general) combined with healing issues (Chiron) is in a conflict with issues of Ceres, meaning “feast and famine.” In the Spring, Ceres should favor us, so I am worried about the period approaching November 19th of this year and a bit beyond December 16th (Saturn’s second entry into Aquarius, where it stays until 2023). Sun opposes Chiron in late September, so we could be feeling the issues as soon as then.
But, what issues? In the abstract sense: the financial markets and monetization. In the practical sense: supply chains and, more specifically, FOOD. The potential for a food shortage is looming out there, and we need to “get on top of it” NOW to nip that in the bud. In my humble opinion, I believe we are “doing the right thing,” but it still will not be easy. That one thing, the question of supply chains (especially food), is the big takeaway of this chart.
No doubt some of you are asking: how did he get that? The answer is based on the mythology. Ceres, aka Demeter, was “was in charge of the harvest. If Ceres was upset, the crops could die.”
Here, the Sun (Apollo in mythology but our general self in the external sense (Moon is internal)) and Chiron (the Centaur known as the “wounded healer,” a teacher and healer who could heal all EXCEPT himself) are aligned together AND “upsetting” Ceres (i.e. the Semi-square, which is, as we say here in the South, “as annoying as hell”). For more on the mythology regarding Ceres, click >here<.
In short, our healing issues (such as Covid19) are in a significant conflict with our source of nourishment (supply chains in modern economies). Again, astrology confirms what we already know.
BUT, there’s more.

- Uranus Trine the South Node
- Asraea Opposite Mars
Ceres Square Venus
This is a large and complex topic. But, here, it amplifies the issue with the Sun/Chiron semisquare to Ceres. We may need to adjust some of the “rules” the financial markets play by to keep the supply chains intact. If we fail to do that, bad things will happen. And, that is what this square is telling us. And, to be sure, some of these moves will be fought by Wall Street, similar to the Airlines using “bailout” money from the government to perform stock buy-backs. That kind of crap will wreck us, and we need the people that represent us in the government to put an absolute prohibition on that misuse of the funds in place and enforce it.
Uranus Trine South Node
I am going to go opposite against many astrologers, particularly the ones from India, the “Vedic” astrologers. They love the North Node and hate the South Node. The North Node is “karma,” and you are supposed to be better when you “work through it.” The South Node is “doing it how we have always done it” and “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke.” Usually I agree.
Here, I make an exception. Uranus will give us some slick ideas of how to “do it how we have always done it” only slightly different but much better. We do not have to scrap ALL our old ideas to work our way out of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Hell, it might even knock out the Martians. (If you are not familiar with “War of the Worlds,” that might not make sense.)
Let’s be clear: this aspect is important! It is telling us how to “fix” things by slight, but insightful, “tuning.”
Make it so, Number One!
Let me be clear: it is the solutions coming from this Uranus / South Node aspect (and some of what Pallas and Juno are doing currently) that will give us the solution(s) to combating this virus and similar opponents in the future. We HAVE to look at “how we always have done it” and bring in the smart, ingenious solutions that will tune those methods.
Astraea Opposite Mars
Expect lawsuits. This is another “astrology tells us something obvious.” I think maybe less obvious, but maybe more interesting, will be the lawsuits against military / police forces. Abuses will be uncovered, and the lawyers will feed on it (as they should, since they protect us (collectively) from abuses by police / military by this kind of “feeding”). If you see misconduct, take pictures, record video, record audio, capture everything you can and send it out to as many people as you can, maybe to your attorney along the way.
What Else?
What else? All those semi-squares to start!
Semi-Squares
If you use asteroids (which I do), then this chart has (count ’em!) no less than seven (7) semi-squares. That is a TON of tension “out there” in the world. People are pissed off, and they are having difficulty holding it together. This chart tells us that. I will leave it to someone else to interpret this particular collection of semi-squares. For me, just knowing they are there is enough.
The chart also has two sesquiquadrates (also called “sesquisquares”). Those are not shown here. But, those (135 degrees) are often shown with semi-squares (45 degrees) since the two aspects are related (they are a way to divide 180 degrees / 360 degrees). Adding those two into the mix gives us NINE (8) of this family. And the two SSQ’s are ALMOST in a “Thor’s Hammer” pattern.
As if all of those semi-square / SSQ’s were not bad enough, keep in mind that Mars conjunct Pluto was just two days ago! And this chart follows the Aries New Moon by just a day, a sign that old ideas / people (relationships that no longer work) / places / things are being wiped away.
I could write more. Juno is a HUGE issue in this chart. She is telling us something important: women in general are fed up with the crap pushed on us by the fashion and cosmetic industries. I will not go into the details here, but it has to do with what is happening with Juno (ordinary regular women, and particularly anyone feeling betrayed) and Venus (fashion and cosmetics industries sucking every penny they can from the citizenry).
Prediction: somewhere “soon,” Anna Wintour will retire. (We do not wish anything bad on anyone, but Covid19 might “take her” despite her best efforts at precautions.) (When is “soon”? Probably this year, maybe next year, based on what I see. But, I could be wrong. She is one of those Scorpios who is as tough as a Sherman tank.) Regardless, a backlash against the fashion and cosmetics industries is coming.
Sun and Chiron v. Ceres, Venus, and the Nodes [Edit 2020-03-24]
Based on interest expressed in this article, I have decided to add a few edits. First, I have added a list of “Sun conjunct Chiron” aspects specifically in Aries from 1900 to 2100 at the end of this article. Those who are interested in what I call “Long Term Analysis” can look there.
Next, I ran a series of charts that focus on applying aspects of a single planet. We will look at the Sun (and, by default, Chiron, since they are both conjunct). Here is the chart:
Note that Sun/Chiron are semi-square Ceres in Capricorn (described previously, “supra”) while Sun/Chiron are also semi-square Venus in Taurus. This obviously means Ceres and Venus are square, discussed previously.
But, what does it mean?
That’s a good question. I think it is a new pattern, at least “new” in the sense the Solarfire 9 (the software I use to produce these analyses) does not have it. The pattern is this: two planets square with a third planet between them and semi-square to each (and, therefore, at the midpoint of each, Venus / Ceres in this case). The pattern is triangular, and it has a quality similar to a Thor’s Hammer, but built from semi-squares instead of sesquiquadrates. Like a Thor’s Hammer, this pattern causes significant “agitation.”
I will not duplicate the previous analysis, but I will point out that this means that Ceres (food, nourishment, supply chains) is in Aquarius (a sign of changing to a new way of thinking) and SQUARE to Venus (art, beauty, financial markets) in Taurus (its home, and the ultimate resistance to change). While that is a tremendous conflict by itself, in THIS case Sun/Chiron are together, acting “as one,” and in Aries (new ideas that can make us go to war, potentially) and Sun/Chiron are in conflict with BOTH Ceres / Venus. AND, if that were not enough, this Sun/Chiron melding reflects how many of us view the Venus / Chiron conflict (financial markets, loans, payments due versus having a home and food on the dinner plate).
In a sense, it is astrology once again telling us what we already know. But an argument could be made that the nuances of the aspects and patterns in the sky reflect a consolidation of our thoughts into something potentially useful.
But, Wait, There’s More!
Just like those late night infomercials some of us have seen, the well worn old saw “But, wait, there’s more!” applies here. In particular, Sun/Chiron is SQUARE to the nodes, placing Ceres semi-square to the South Node and sesquiquadrate to the North Node. Similarly, Venus is semi-square to the North Node and sesquiquadrate to the South Node.
What does THAT mean? It means that the pattern mentioned previously is “swallowed” by a larger pattern that includes the Nodes (of the Moon, an indicator of “karma” that must be “worked through”).
To quote Ringo Starr, “It don’t come easy.”

Venus in Taurus (Home) Sextile Neptune in PIsces (Home) 2020-03-22
This is a “feel good” day with a “feel good” aspect that can be critically important to creatives, notably poets & lyricists, photographers and videographers, and anything similar. It tends to be rare, but if you screw up and miss the opportunity you MIGHT can get it again in 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024. After that, the window does not re-open until 2176.
A bit of warning is in order: Mars conjunct Pluto is also applying. Care must be taken to avoid being susceptible to delusions produced by unscrupulous people (scammers and other criminals and agents of deceit). Working alone, or only with trusted others, is advisable.
We suggest you seize the dreams and ideas that come to you today and grow and harvest them through the windows of opportunity that exist until 2024. After that, either you have done it or you should give up.
For some odd reason, I keep hearing “Tubular Bells” as I draft this entry about this aspect:
(Particularly the section from 17:00 to 18:49, just before Richard Burton announces “Grand Piano.”)
Today is an important day for many of us. Today can be a turning point if you are a creative, or if you want to be a creative. Write that poem, craft those lyrics, capture that rare photo or video. The window is open. Seize the opportunity.

Filtered by Tight Orbs (to identify precise aspects)

- Please note the Venus / South Node Sesquiquadrate (135 degrees): This produces a profound sense of urgency to perform the tasks that you know best. You may not “grow” into a new area, but you CAN demonstrate mastery with existing skills! And, if you push just a wee bit, you can reach into new areas and establish yourself there. When we tighten the orbs, all aspects disappear except (1) Venus Sextile Neptune, and (2) the Venus / Node aspects. This is a powerful signal about the need to seize those fleeting thoughts onto paper or some trusted medium. If you cannot act now, seize the ideas anyway. You will need them.

March 18th through 19th of 2020: Sun in Pisces, Anaretic and Saturn in Capricorn, Anaretic

March 18th through 19th of 2020: Sun in Pisces, Anaretic and Saturn in Capricorn, Anaretic
This is easy to miss; I almost did. As such, this entry is later than I would like (i.e., we have entered the 24 hour period as I write this).
The anaretic degree of any sign has been discussed at length. Specifically, it is the final degree of a sign before a planet moves into a new sign. Outer planets (capable of retrograde) may cross this region several times. Cafe Astrology has an excellent explanation of the anaretic degree. I will not duplicate their work except for a modification.
My original understanding of the anaretic degree came from a presenter at UAC ’98 (I think maybe Carol Wiggers, a William Lilly expert). She sold me on Lilly. While my depth of understanding is not “deep” in the ordinary sense of the word (except maybe for Lewi, who I read and re-read), my favorite astrologers are Grant Lewi, Dane Rudhyar, William Lilly, and Anthony Louis. Of these, only Louis is still alive, and he has a WordPress blog! Indeed, I have reblogged some of his most excellent content.
So, my point about the anaretic degree is this: if I understand Lilly correctly, he treated the final three degrees of a sign as “fated.” Free will might exist in other areas, but not in the final three, and especially not in the “anaretic” (or final) degree. Cafe Astrology, on the other hand, portrays the degree as “indecisive.”
The two viewpoints are not mutually exclusive (one could be indecisive because “fate” is actually driving the decision), but they are not necessarily the same, either. The analysis you are reading is based on this understanding of mine. (Lilly also called the first three degrees “too early to tell.” While Lilly strictly applied it to horary, I apply it to other areas and, in my opinion, it works.)
Let’s get started. Here is a head’s up of my main points:
- The five point stellium is obvious and does not differ significantly for the charts of entry of Sun into the anaretic degree (the entire focus of this entry) for charts for New York, Los Angeles, or Plano (my location). And, none of the regular patterns we look at (T-Square, Grand Trine, Grand Cross, etc.) are present in these charts.
- The most important thing is that BOTH the Sun AND Saturn are in anaretic degrees during this period. (That is unusual.) Specifically, the Sun is in the anaretic degree of Pisces (possibly the most powerful of all anaretic degrees since it is truly about endings) and Saturn is in the anaretic degree of Capricorn (its home!). Saturn MUST make a statement of some kind before it leaves home. And the Sun is in the same position as we close out one astrological year and start another.
- A triangular fifth harmonic pattern exists. I identify this will little commentary, preferring that others reblog my work and add their own commentary.
- A triangular seventh harmonic pattern exists. Again, I offer little commentary for the same reason as previous.
- I offer a number of maps. While all are interesting to some greater or lesser degree, only three are truly compelling: (1) Western Canada (which places both Saturn and Pluto on the Fourth House Cusp, sometimes called either the “final resting place” or, more explicitly, “the grave”); (2) China (and that would seem obvious, but seeing the astrological maps confirming it is noteworthy) and (3) the UK (again, obvious based on what is happening there but, again, seeing the astrological maps confirming it is noteworthy).
- The other maps DO have stories to tell, just not quite as much as Canada / China / UK.
- I think this set of charts might tell us more about what happening than the Vernal Equinox charts.. (But, the Vernal Equinox charts, via the Thor’s Hammer pattern, hint that some serious “unrest” could be facing us.)
Plano (Five Point Stellium)
New York City
Los Angeles
Fifth Harmonic Aspects
The 5th harmonic connections of Mercury (communications and transportation), Venus (values and finances and sometimes health), and Astraea (law and legal matters) foretells possible innovations emerging from the coming difficulties. But Mercury ties into the Thor’s Hammer, so difficult lessons may face us first.
Seventh Harmonic Aspects
The connection of Juno (trust and betrayal), Saturn (often difficult and painful lessons), and the North Node (“fate” or “karma) using septiles (high order lessons involving karma that CAN produce breakthrough insights) seems to foretell the Thor’s Hammer of the coming Vernal Equinox.
United States Map
At least four different sets of lessons face the United States, varying by part of the country.
Canada Map
Western Canada has Saturn and Pluto on IC (Fourth House Cusp) lines; this location (Fourth House Cusp) is sometimes called the “Final Resting Place,” or “the grave.”
United Kingdom
UK is hit by so many lines that interpretation appears to be difficult. But, it looks like a rough ride for them. Since we already know that, the astrology is merely confirming the obvious.
Australia and New Zealand
Similar to the UK, one of the coasts of Australia is hit by a cluster of lines, a sign of challenges.
Europe
The EU is too complex to cover in a single entry. This can be viewed as “homework” or, alternatively, someone else might choose to produce an analysis.
China
Similar to the UK and Australia, a large number of lines go through China. Again, this simply tells us what we already know.
Japan
Japan faces complex and sophisticated lessons. What interpretation? Unclear. But do not be surprised if Japan is the one to develop a cure or vaccine. The multiple crossings tell us of sophisticated thinking about this thorny problem (Coronavirus, Covid19).
India
Two DISTINCTLY different regions and approaches. SOME of the ingenuity of Japan is seen here, also.
Southeast Asia
This is merely a “zoomed out” viewpoint of other maps (China, India, & Japan). However, it could facilitate analysis of other regions.
Vernal Equinox of 2020

Vernal Equinox of 2020
The Vernal Equinox of 2020 is here. The chart above shows the moment of the Equinox, filtered to show the Thor’s Hammer pattern that is present.
We have written about the Thor’s Hammer pattern before:
In all fairness, I have seen many Thor’s Hammer days that did not produce explosions, mine collapses, or school shooters. Regardless, they do seem to be difficult days. The marker does show up frequently with violence and explosions. Caution should be considered.
Interested in an “in depth” astrological analysis of the Sandy Hook school shootings? >click here< Since school is out in most localities, we do not expect any school shootings. But, that same energy can manifest in other places.
Using astrology to predict some kind of “global disaster” at this point seems superfluous. However, we note that the global death count has not exceeded that of 9/11 (as of this writing) nor reached typical annual influenza deaths (yet) nor come remotely close to that of automobile accidents (at least in the United States). We have yet to see what level of damage will result, but it could be that the worst part is a mix of panic and the economic harm that results.
We present the same chart, changing only to the “beginner’s format” to facilitate analysis and understanding for those new to astrology:
“But, what does it mean?”
Juno is at the apex of the Thor’s Hammer, and at my location she is in the 12th house of “self-undoing,” institutions, drugs, alcohol, deceit, dreams, and illness. Hospitals are inherently 12th house organizations, arguably the classic 12th house organizations along with churches and monasteries and similar organization. Except for accidents and other trauma, many of us are born in such places and die in such places. The Coronavirus, Covid-19, is an agent of such energy.
Juno rules females in general but particularly in traditional female roles as wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. It is also the indicator of betrayal, more specifically the betrayed wife who has been betrayed by the philandering husband (Jupiter). Jupiter is courts, universities and university professors, higher education, and foreign travel.
Juno in this position hints that “we,” the People, are in a position to be concerned about betrayal by courts, universities (and related “experts”), and foreign travel. While some might suspect the federal government and our current president (and that COULD be true), I am suspicious of state and (especially) local government for potential for deceit and abuse under these circumstances. A need for oversight along with checks and balances is imperative.
Who else is in this Thor’s Hammer? Mercury on one leg, which is about communications and transportation. Mercury also CAN be about deceit although that is not a certainty. The presence of Mercury here, among other things, emphasizes the importance of logistics (and the potential for abuse and theft).
On the other leg is Vesta, the asteroid associated with Vestal Virgins in particular. Since most of us do not have those any more, Vesta is about people who carry traditions: priests and associated, sometimes military and police in non-combat roles. Careful scrutiny of these parties will be necessary to confirm that theft and other misdeeds does not occur.
Thor’s Hammer: Explosions and School Shootings
That we have a “Thor’s Hammer” tells us that an “explosion” of some kind may result. We have written about the Thor’s Hammer many times before, associating it particularly with school shootings but also mining disasters and the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe, an explosion.
Fourth Harmonic Analysis: Astraea Oppositions and New Law
Following are versions of this chart with information for (1) Horary and Traditional practitioners and (2) Midpoint Trees. These charts are filtered to focus on fourth harmonic aspects (squares and oppositions). Note the oppositions of Astraea to Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Jude Cowell describes Astraea as “the goddess of Justice.” We agree, and this group of oppositions almost certainly heralds unprecedented lawsuits (and similar conflicts).
From the standpoint of attorneys and judges, expect “new law” to be made based on the events of this year. Similarly, legislatures will craft new statutes (Senate and Congress in the U.S., but, also, ALL legislatures on the planet).

Vernal Equinox 2017 (The First Day of Spring) Grand Cross

Vernal Equinox 2017 (The First Day of Spring) Grand Cross
[As we frequently do, we are likely to tune and update this post through the time of the perfection of the equinox. Therefore, you might want to check back.]
The Vernal Equinox of 2017 has a Grand Cross pattern in it if you use certain asteroids (and a T-Square otherwise):
We omit the T-Square variant (which is identical)
A rather peculiar Grand Trine is present (if you are willing to use asteroids and the nodes):
The 5th Harmonic variant shows significant activity but no patterns of note:
Our interpretation is that you might have some bright ideas, some particularly useful ones, but this is not a peak time of creativity. (Nevertheless, opportunities are present if you are a “creative” that you should harness.)
We do see a triangular pattern present in the Septiles, and we believe that this means that this is a good time to help others less fortunate than yourself without expectations of any returns. You may obtain an important glimpse of the future in the process of giving.
Although a horary format is not technically appropriate for such an event, we present it anyway for the useful information that can be used in other ways. One way I like to use it is to reverse engineer: what question would I be asking if I saw a chart like this?
In this case, the question is something like this: “Can I trust the opinion of my friends about my money/new job?” The answer is, succinctly, NO! The Moon is peregrine (thieves, not trustworthy) in the 11th house of Friends and conjunct Saturn; both are at 27 degrees. The last three degrees of anything are often “fate” and frequently void and generally unfavorable. And as many as six (or more) are operating together to steer you in the wrong direction. This is one time to NOT follow the “wisdom of crowds.” Keep your own counsel!
But the Sun is at 0 degrees (of course!) in the 2nd house of Money, so we do not get a “real answer” about the money / job just yet. It will come soon enough, maybe in a few days or possibly up to three weeks (after Mercury goes Retrograde and some misplaced message is found or vice versa). Just persist, and as much as possible keep your plans to yourself.
This is just my interpretation, and surely others would read it differently. (This is why I encourage checking a number of oracles / opinions.)
We now present the maps. These are NOT the kind of detailed astrological maps that Kepler provides (or Solar Fire can provide with the “right” options set), but instead the more general maps. We start with the United States map:

Blue Monday?
January 23, 2017 at 12:13 pm | Posted in Annual Repeating Aspects, BadDays, Calendars, Special Days | 3 CommentsTags: Astrology, Bad Ideas, Blue Monday, Calendar, Calendars, diet, Diets, New Years Resolutions, Weight Loss
First, let me point out the Wikipedia article in Blue Monday. A bit of controversy exists about it, so let’s clarify a few things:
- Skeptics consider it “pseudoscience” “like astrology.” Glad they do, that puts it in my domain. <smile>
- Some lament it claiming that “depression does not occur one day a year.” Well, that is not the point. “Blue Monday” has nothing to do with the mental illness of depression unless certain days, maybe “Blue Monday,” could be precipitating factors for some people.
- Some people have (incorrectly) said it is “the third Monday in January.” Nope. That is not the point. It CAN be the “third Monday in January,” but it should NEVER be strictly codified as such.
So, what is it?
It is the Monday that follows the weekend where your “New Year’s Resolutions” crash, particularly if they involve a “diet” or some other (typically poorly conceived and poorly executed) weight loss plan. For many people, this is the Monday that follows the THIRD WEEKEND in January. The third Monday in January in 2017 was Monday, January 15th. But the Monday that followed the THIRD WEEKEND is today, January 24th. And, if your well intentioned “resolutions” crashed over the weekend, then chances are good you do not feel very good about that today, and that makes today “Blue Monday” for you.
And if you do suffer from the illness of depression, and you made unrealistic plans for the new year, then today could be tough. If that is true, consider this: this, too, shall pass.

2016-12 W52: Forecasts for Week 52 of 2016
WEEK 52 (W52) / (EUROPEAN WEEK 51 / W51)
The Moon is waning just a few days past full with both the Winter Solstice on Wednesday the 21st along with the shift to the last quarter. By itself, those are enough to make this week “interesting” but the Mercury Retrograde station Monday precisely on the day that the College of Cardinals, er the Electoral College, meets to decide (if that is possible for them) on our new president. Let’s hope for white smoke so we can all move forward. Saturday contains the highly influential trine of Saturn to Uranus, and the following week contains the Uranus direct station. Though almost all of the Uber Liberals don’t get it, Donald Trump IS a Uranian president-elect, and this week is important to him (and us). These Uranus / Saturn / Mercury shifts on top…

2016-10-07 Sun Square Pluto (Thor’s Hammer)

2016-10-07 Sun Square Pluto (Thor’s Hammer)
This repeats in two versions, each once a year. The other one was earlier in April, and both will repeat in April and October for the next few years. We repeat what we said in April: Sun Square Pluto is about power and power struggles. On a personal basis, chances are good you will see conflict, and you may see violence (including the use of lethal force). Police and intelligence agencies tend to be activated at this time, and death and taxes are issues, too. We add that you might want to look back to what was happening on or about April 6th to understand better what is happening at this time.

Sun Trine Pluto 2016-09-07 (Mystic Rectangle + Kites + Rosetta + Hele)
This repeats in two versions, each once a year. The previous one was in September, and both will repeat in May and September for the next few years. Sun Trine Pluto is also about power and power struggles, but the trines tend to be more benevolent than the squares in April and October. Still, take a look back at April 7th. And, when you reach October 7th, compare your experiences now to then.
The perfection of this aspect is very busy with a number of patterns present, including a Mystic Rectangle, Kites, a Rosetta, and a Hele. Opportunities about, and you may need to form coalitions to achieve certain results, but sorting out friend from foe could be tricky.
Here is the chart, filtered for the Mystic Rectangle:

Solar Eclipse of September 1st 2016

Solar Eclipse of September 1st 2016
This particular eclipse is personal for reasons I do not wish to disclose on the open internet. I thought about NOT writing about it and just leaving the 2016 New Moons page and the writings of others (reblogs) as my proxy.
But, I changed my mind. And then I found a body of work I had produced on this eclipse a few weeks ago. No written work, mind you, but chart graphics from the time when I developed my analysis of the rather important Grand Quintile of August 28th. That confirmed for me that I needed to put up what I had done in a post.
This Grand Quintile period we are in, from August 28th until September 11th, is particularly rare. If you check the Grand Quintiles from 1800 to 2050 page, you will find most of them last a few hours or a day. Exceptions exist, such as in 1809 and 1810, but they are just that: exceptions. So is this current window.
This Solar Eclipse, a special type of New Moon, is a punctuation mark in this window. It also corresponds to an Eclipse in September of 1997, which was an extremely important period for me personally. I am left wondering what this one will bring me.
First, let us take a peek at the Kite pattern that is present. Kites are not extremely rare, but they are not particularly common either. This one has the Eclipse, itself, at the focal point and Neptune in opposition (and Neptune is part of the Grand Trine that forms the body of the kite). (Kites are always, inherently, built from Grand Trines, the pattern that is the namesake of this blog (and my internet alter ego).) Some of us, likely many of us, are facing one of the most important opportunities of our lives. We are at one of the most important junctures in our individual and collective lives. The decisions, and followup actions, that we make (or not) are critically important to the results that manifest (or fail to manifest) consequently. Negligence is a profound danger here.
Here is the chart of the Eclipse, filtered for that Kite pattern:
Juno and Vesta (both major asteroids) form the other points of the Grand Trine. Juno brings issues of trust and intimacy to the forefront, particularly as they involve wives, sisters, mothers, and other female family members. Vesta is about traditions and whether or not we follow and honor them or create new ones when old ones no longer serve us.
Here is the same chart, filtered for the Grand Trine instead of the Kite:
We note that the opposition of the Eclipse to Neptune has not yet quite perfected, but will perfect soon with the annual opposition of Sun to Neptune on Friday. Friday’s opposition has a Thor’s Hammer (energy, often in the form of violence or explosions) and a Yod (insisting that an important decision must be made). You will have to make a decision in this period, and something or someone from the past (Mercury Retrograde) will be part of that decision.
This Eclipse also has a Thor’s Hammer (aka God’s Fist) present with all the “energy” (and DANGER!) that brings. (Do be careful!)
We also note the presence of a Rosetta; we interpret that pattern as indicative of the important of short-term alliances and relationships. Treachery is a very real possibility, and people (including major politicians) are likely to shift their positions and allegiances at this time.
T-Squares are present and amplify the energy (and danger) of the Thor’s Hammer:
This next point is particularly important: please note there are TWO independent sets of T-Squares. This makes “handling” the sources of “irritation” difficult and more likely impossible. We would not be surprised at all to hear about someone or something “blowing up” (or a mass shooting) in the next few days. Since the Eclipse really consumes nearly the entirety of the African continent, we would not be surprised to see the event there.
Here are the Seventh Harmonic or “karmic” aspects:
We note the presence of a triangular pattern of septiles composed of a septile, biseptile, and triseptile. Chiron, Saturn, and Astraea are involved. We would not be surprised to learn of a major lawsuit (or similar legal system involvement) involving either educational or healthcare systems (or both). Frankly, we think there will be “hell to pay.”
We will stop there, but we cannot emphasize strongly enough just how important this window of opportunity is. After September 11th, most of it closes. All will be gone by Mercury Direct Station and the Autumnal Equinox. By then, “the concrete will have set.”

Only a handful of New Moons have a Grand Quintile during the period from 1800 to 2050 (and Solar Fire did not count this NM as one of them though we argue that it is):

Sun Opposite Neptune 2016-09-02 (Kite + Yod + TH)
If you kept your notes from Sun Conjunct Neptune on February 28th, then review them now. This is another day that is best for poets and photographers. We have a Yod in play, so you may need to make a decision at a time when your decision making is not at its best. A Thor’s Hammer is in play, so you need to watch your temper and watch for others that might be dangerous. But a Kite is also in play, and an opportunity is present. Keep your eyes open lest it pass you by unnoticed.
Here is the chart for perfection of the aspect, filtered for the kite:

Full Moon August 18th 2016: Danger and Opportunity

Full Moon August 18th 2016: Danger and Opportunity
We see both danger and opportunity in this Leo / Aquarius Full Moon. With Sun at 25 degrees Leo and Moon at 25 Aquarius, both are square to Algol in Taurus. That alone would be enough to give pause. But, a pronounced Thor’s Hammer pattern is present, and that is present with anger and temper and people, places, and things that go Boom!
Here is the FM chart, filtered for the Thor’s Hammer pattern:
A Rosetta pattern is present, telling us that we will need to make allegiances but they will tend to be short-lived and may turn to treachery:
We often ignore T-Squares in our analysis, but a number are present and some of this has figured in a major way in events this summer starting in May / June. Here is the same FM chart but filtered for T-Squares:
Please do note that Mars, in Sagittarius, is square the Nodes in Virgo / Pisces (the Nodes are sometimes called “Rahu” and “Ketu” by Vedic astrologers). This brings an especially “karmic” or fated feel to any violence that occurs at this time. And, by this FM, at least some of the violence will have manifested leading this to be a time of sorrow and weeping for many.
Opportunity is present and signaled by Grand Trines that connect to the South Node / Neptune:
We note that, while a true Kite is not present, signalling a strong opportunity, we have what has been called an “almost Kite” completed by Pluto. Since Pluto is at the apex, we expect the “opportunity” to deal with death, police, intelligence agencies, or financial institutions (or some mix of those).
Finally, the presence of a Yod signals that an important decision must be made. We choose one path or the other and should never look back. If we look back, we will only see the rosy picture of the other path and not the hidden dangers that peppered that choice.

Sun Opposite Pluto 2016-12-07 (Mystic Rectangle)
This is an annual transit, likely to continue with Sun in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn for a few more years, and in this case has a Mystic Rectangle as the dominant pattern. Mystic Rectangles tend to be rare patterns, but 2016 has many of them. A window of opportunity is present with this aspect, but you may have to work for it.

Gemini New Moon 2016-06-04 (Grand Cross, Grand Trine, and Rosetta)

Gemini New Moon 2016-06-04 (Grand Cross, Grand Trine, and Rosetta)
We are writing this post a few hours in hindsight, a bit more than four hours after perfection. We note that the annual Sun Square Jupiter aspect perfected earlier today. (We will minimize duplication of the commentary on the earlier aspect.)
This is a dynamic New Moon (NM) and an important one, and much has been written by others because of the presence of a Grand Cross (GC). This is a longer term GC which involves outer planets (notably Saturn, Neptune, and Jupiter), but the NM itself is (1) conjunct Venus and (2) forms the fourth leg of the GC. Grand Crosses are relatively rare even when using asteroids (Chiron, Juno, Pallas, Vesta, and Ceres as well as others such as Hygeia and Astraea) or calculated points (North Node, South Node, Vertex, and so forth). But this GC uses “real” planets, and that, by itself, is enough to make it a popular subject of discussion, interpretation, and speculation.
Maybe even more notable is that it is a mutable GC, and these invariably signify endings of some kind. With a NM near the end of the Mecury Retrograde shadow, after the Direct Station, all are seeking to move forward and launch new projects. AND you *CAN* do that, but these projects are more in the order of reaping what you have sewn. Think of these projects as specifically being built on the past and what you have accomplished (or failed to accomplish). This is your window to take stock and act accordingly.
And, on the outside chance you are uncertain about that, let me be clear: the upcoming Full Moon has a CARDINAL Grand Cross in it, and, oddly, that is about beginnings. It tells us that the “cleanup period” between that Full Moon and the next New Moon is all about launching truly new projects. (I am NOT saying you should launch during a waning moon. I AM saying it is time you consider the option of COMPLETELY starting your life from the ground up and, absent that, questioning every assumption in your life about how things “have to be” with an eye to junking what is not working for you any more and doing things that are TRULY NEW in the most fundamental way possible. This is your chance to TRULY change the train you are on.)
Whether all of us realize it or not, we are undergoing a large scale shift that is operating in many areas of our lives. The current state of affairs of the United States Presidential election reflects that. People feel strongly. I will avoid becoming too political here, as I ordinarily avoid that, but many people object to the political system as it stands, and I mean many conservative people object as well as the more obvious liberal objections seeking “change.” But what we see as election politics reflects deeper and more profound problems and issues. And, they are not just in the United States. This is a global phenomenon.
The late Jonathon Cainer, an astrologer whose work I followed, wrote of this a number of times when he spoke of the “bell” (Uranus Square Pluto) that would “toll seven times.” Cainer was both a poet and a giant (as well as a bit of a character), and his voice will be missed. (But we are happy that Oscar appears to be carrying the torch now.) Jonathon Cainer stressed the point repeatedly: Uranus Square Pluto will bring HUGE global changes beyond anything we have seen (at least in recent generations if “ever”). I agree.
By itself, that would be enough, and nothing more need be said. But the fact is that we have an amazing series of patterns coming in the next few months starting now (and with the upcoming Full Moon). Those of you who are astrologers know what I am talking about. I see more of you writing about patterns this year, and I strongly suspect at least some of you have looked at certain pages I put up in late 2015, such as Rare and Absent Patterns in 2016 and, more generally, the 2016 Overview. Whether or not you are an astrologer, if you like to do advanced planning to organize your life, then I suspect you should peek at those pages.
We also recommend you compare the Gemini New Moon of 2015 (last year) and the Taurus New MooooN of a month ago. And by “compare,” I do not mean just peek at my pages. Pull out your journal (you know the one, the one I recommend you keep, and, yes, I am chastising you like your mother would if you are not doing it, especially after telling you about FutureMe) and compare this month to last month, this month this year to this month last year. You reap what you sew, but there MUST be some opportunity there. This New Moon tells us that. You must have “eyes to see.”
That said, and keeping in mind just how powerful the upcoming Full Moon / Solstice will be, we present the chart for the Gemini New Moon of 2016 with the Mutable Grand Cross (MGC):
In case you were not already aware, an AMAZING number of squares are present in this chart. Children born at this time will be nothing short of revolutionary. I knew a woman, deceased within the past few months, who was born with a similar birth chart. She was the most gifted numerologist I ever met (I confess, I simply have NO idea how Numerology works, but she was completely accurate), and she had a greater ability to anger people (most people, even delicate ones, said “p*ss off” people) than almost anyone else I knew. She made people ANGRY with her criticism! I tolerated her barbs because I really liked her (and I knew she liked me), but most did not. Nevertheless, she was a very prosperous businesswoman here in Dallas, and all those squares left an impression on me. (And, at least from my vantage point, she will be missed. I liked her.) This chart looks like that, but maybe even MORE squares than she had!
Interpret that however you choose. As mentioned earlier, many others have written interpretations of this:

BUT, we would like to add that the Grand Cross is NOT the only pattern in this chart. It is clearly the most striking of the patterns, but it is NOT the ONLY pattern. We also have a Grand Earth Trine (opportunity!) and a Rosetta (alliances, but typically short-lived and a risk of treachery later). We present the chart for the Grand Earth Trine (Pluto, Jupiter, Mercury) first. We also note that Grand Water Trines are associated with the opportunity to make quite a bit of money, but we think this Grand Earth Trine (with Jupiter and Pluto involved) has that same ability, maybe even more so. The next two weeks could be a rather large “money maker” for those with “eyes to see.” Here is the chart:
Please do note that the North Node is involved in this Grand Trine, also, and that is all about “Karma” (again, reaping what you have sewn) as well as “hard work.”
Finally, we have the Rosetta. Let us be clear: a Rosetta can accomplish a huge amount of work in a short time. But the relationships are short-lived, and the potential for treachery exists. We also note that one leg of the Grand Earth Trine is embedded in this Rosetta. Here is the chart:
The next two weeks will gave gotcha and glitches associated with the Grand Cross. And you can focus on those, or you can focus on the opportunity that will come to you. The choice is yours.

Sun Square Jupiter 2016-06-04 (Kite + Grand Cross + Rosetta)
This aspect last perfected on December 14, 2015. Ordinarily, this aspect perfects twice a year, but only perfects once in 2016. A Kite (opportunity), a Grand Cross (very rare) and a Rosetta (issues with the alliances you form) are all present. We note that the Grand Cross is a longer term pattern here, and it involves Sun, Jupiter, Neptune, and Saturn.
Here is the chart for perfection of Sun Square Jupiter, filtered for the Kite:

And here is the same chart, filtered for the Grand Cross:

The week leading up to this aspect is interesting, with Sun Square Neptune preceding it by a few days:

A good tool to use if you do advanced planning and retrospective review is FutureMe. You can send a link to this page and your notes for today to a few days before the time when this aspect perfects again.
