And when I die….

Yes, when I am dead my possessions will be scattered to the winds. The only beliefs others will hold about me will be what someone else has told them, truth or lies.
But, rumor mongers and the deceitful will die as well. And, unless I am historically famous, the gossip will die with them. Nothing will be left of them, except maybe some long past boring scuttlebutt.
That’s why I blog. As long as some server, somewhere, holds a small piece of my psyche, as long as some embodiment of my spirit reduced to words and images can speak to some yet unknown kindred spirit, that which is of my core will live to speak again.

And, if you took the time to come this far, might as well play the video.

2017: I have written more about this: It is too bad for the wood which finds itself a violin.

    • Thank you. Laura, do you have a blog? And, if you do not, have you thought about starting one?

  4. Wow, you speak right to my soul! I have recently thought the same, that there will be a piece of my real self somewhere on the net after I am gone…because no one really knows me like that, and nobody would ever know, and now there will be some who stumble upon this piece of me, and perhaps my writing could help them.
And it feels wonderful to finally open up safely, share and connect with others from a distance.
I am sorry about the people that gossip about you, they are very sad individuals who probably have some serious problems! I believe in some kind of cosmic justice though, and they will one day be faced with what they have been doing. Much Love Gia x

    • I have thought about the idea of ‘justice’ many times, and I have no final conclusions. But if the gossips have nothing more than gossip to contribute, the nothing will be left of them but dust when they are gone. That is a kind of justice. Seems we are the same, here. Passing on that sliver of essence to kindred spirits may be what matters the most in the end.

  6. Blogging and writing can be very therapeutic, as I’ve found myself. Remember, you have a choice in how you feel each day, and the best way to live is by stepping outside of yourself and helping someone else who needs help even more than you do. Wish you well 🙂

  11. Well said. I like this approach, that even after death there may still be something to give, some spark that may held someone, even in the smallest way. I think we all have some small calling to follow our hearts and do what makes us feel whole, and in that way we contribute to the tapestry and help others without even knowing it. I also think it’s healthy to remember that it will all be gone one day. Nothing is permanent. There’s a freedom in remembering that.

    • Agreed. We pass the baton of creativity in a relay race. The spark may be passed to us to someone who died before we were born. But those who are receptive are kindred to those who came before.

    • Maybe we are kindred! 🙂 There are others of us on here. I keep looking for Melanie’s blog. I know you would probably like it, but cannot quite find it. I think it is called something like “ADD and more.” I routinely reblog her content. She is a very fun character! 🙂

      • Yeah! I love her blog! Madelyn, I think? “ADD and so much more”? Omg she helped me identify my Non-24 sleep issues and I love her inclusive philosophy, the whole “different, not less” vibe 👍🏼👍🏼🌎☮🌎

      • That could be it! Yes, she has EXCELLENT discussions of sleep issues. (I definitely have those.)
