Mercury Opposite Neptune 2015-08-12

Mercury opposes Neptune on August 12, 2015.  This is reputed to be a very good time for writing poetry, playing music, and making photographs and video.  It is likely a very bad time for drafting or signing contracts are making lasting commitments.

This particular Merc Opp Neptune contains a Rosetta, a pattern we believe is evident of short lived alliances and sometimes treachery.  The Rosetta itself contains Mercury (communications and transportation) along with Pallas (sudden insights, often of a military nature), Vesta (traditions), and Astraea (law and the legal system).  This is a particularly bad night for parties that involve alcohol or other drugs.  (Do not be surprised if the police show and make arrests.)

Here is the chart, filtered for the Rosetta:

Again, we encourage you to use this as a period for introspection and “housecleaning” and wait to launch major projects until after the upcoming New Moon.  You might compare your experiences on this day to those of Mercury Square Neptune in June earlier this year.

Just keep in mind that appearances can be deceiving at this time.  Maybe best to just relax and enjoy the party.

Ten More Pieces of Creepy Classical Music

August 9, 2015 at 12:17 pm | Posted in Astrology | Comments Off on Ten More Pieces of Creepy Classical Music

JOANNA PARYPINSKI

When I’m writing a dark scene for a novel or story, nothing sets the atmosphere like a bit of creepy classical music. One of my most popular blog posts of all time is “Top Ten Pieces of Classical Music to Listen to on a Dark and Stormy Night,” but there are a lot more than ten pieces of horrific classical music. That’s why I compiled this second list of ten more pieces to add to your collection. Ranging from intense and apocalyptic to mystical and eerie, these pieces set the mood for a bit of reading, horror movie soundtracks, or just a night in front of the fireplace with ghosts roaming behind you.

10: “Symphony No. 9 (From the New World), Movement 4” – Antonín Dvořák

The rousing opener of the final movement from the New World Symphony sounds a lot like the music from that movie about…

Planetary Activity This Week

Amelia Shea

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.” Satchel Paige

There is a lot of planetary activity this week leading up to the New Moon at 21 Leo on Friday August 14.
Jupiter will enter the sign of Virgo on Tuesday the 11th and will transit through this sign for a year or so. In general it is a good time for thinking about service to the world and to others, for initiatives related to improving health and evolving your belief system. It is wise to watch out for a tendency to be overly critical or overly focused on perfection.

Thursday the ongoing Saturn/Pluto semi square is exact. This is a long term influence and concerns effecting change and transformation. There can be tension and frustration and it bodes well not to push too hard now but be patient and acknowledge incremental steps…

The lead planet in a stellium—the first in zodiac order–is automatically the first affected by new transits—and new situations—that represent periods of challenge, change, and even crisis. It’s like the first responder at the scene of an emergency. What that person does on arriving has a huge influence on the outcome.

If first responders make the right moves, it helps stabilize the crisis, but if they make the wrong ones, the challenge is harder to overcome. The backgrounds of first responders may or may not suit the task, but they cope heroically until better-qualified helpers arrive, then step back…

Alert to this bi-annual hoax

Could anyone really believe this?

Eyes of Heaven

moon hoax

Over a decade ago, someone decided to mention that since Mars was going to be at its closest to Earth, it would be as bright as the Moon. Or something along that line. Oooops. That information got twisted and thus this crazy bit of erroneous ‘news’ circulates every two years. Here’s a link to a website reviewing these silly bits – Urban Legends Mars Hoax

I always appreciate the creativity of the graphics people, making these images. Just wish they’d put a wink or some j/k hint on the photo. If it generates someone to study more astronomy or other scientific field, great, that serves a purpose. Otherwise, stop the hoax circulation, people. Peace to all of us.

JUPITER enters VIRGO onAug 11, for one year and one month.

The Mentor Archetype, energetic representation of the largest planet in our Solar System, JUPITER, points us to our opportunities for growth, expansion, understanding, and wealth on all levels, and guides us to find our path of wisdom and happiness.

With an ‘attitude of gratitude’, abundance consciousness, generosity, and a good sense of humour, life (esp. in the areas /astrological houses that are represented by the celestial position of ‘our’ Jupiter) offers indeed a bounty of supply. But quantity doesn’t necessarily equate quality…

The shadow sides of Jupiter are excess, extravagance, arrogance, hubris, and an overbearing demeanour of ‘knowing better’ or moralizing.

One JUPITER mantra…

Top Ten Pieces of Classical Music to Listen to on a Dark and Stormy Night

August 9, 2015 at 1:17 am | Posted in Astrology | Comments Off on Top Ten Pieces of Classical Music to Listen to on a Dark and Stormy Night

Best for Halloween. (We have “Christmas in July”; can we have Halloween in August?)

JOANNA PARYPINSKI

I say, “classical music.” You say, “boring.” I say, “WRONG!”

Nothing sets the mood for a horror story like a spine-tingling score, and you might be surprised how many orchestral works provide a perfectly creepy atmosphere. What would Psycho be without the screeching violins? Let’s count down some of the best pieces of classical music to listen to on a dark and stormy night…

Number 10: “Funeral March of a Marionette” – Charles Gounod

Remember Alfred Hitchcock Presents? It was a ‘50s anthology TV show, and the title sequence used this piece, which forever afterward became associated with Hitchcock. Good evening… Get the mp3Number 9: “Dreams of a Witches’ Sabbath” from Symphonie Fantastique – Hector Berlioz

The symphony is about an artist who’s taken a lot of opium and experiences some pretty weird stuff. Berlioz describes this movement of the symphony as “a hideous…
