EarthSky.org calls this a “micro-moon,” noting that it precedes an Eclipse on March 20th and a “Blood Moon” on April 4th.  We start our analysis by noting that another yod is in play in this Pisces (Sun) / Virgo (Moon) FM!  So, again, some KEY DECISION is in play for all of us, both collectively and individually.  We also note that yods (decisions) have been prominent in the sky since last summer.  Whether we realize it or not, the decisions we are making now will affect us for many years to come.  Only hindsight will full reveal why this is (was) true.

A yod featured prominently the recent new moon that precedes this full moon.  Also: here is the FM from March of 2014, the Aries / Libra FM of March 2013, and the equivalent Pisces / Virgo FM in February of 2013.  For those of you who do not know what a full moon (FM) is, try here.  As you will read there, it involves a Sun / Moon opposition, such as an Aries / Libra or (in this case) a Pisces / Virgo opposition.  The Pisces / Virgo FM is the last FM of the astrological year, signifying a time of housecleaning and preparation for the new year (the Vernal Equinox or “first day of spring”).

This FM precedes an upcoming Solar Eclipse as well as the Vernal Equinox of 2015.  Upcoming, also, is Uranus Square Pluto.

This FM (2015) is also characterized by two Hele, one somewhat stronger than the other, which indicate that people will polarize on two (or more) issues.  (Arguably, this is what we have called a “Hele Key” in the past.)  How you decide may be strongly affected by where you stand on these key issues, whatever they may be.  At least we can be thankful for reduced complexity compared to the numerous patterns present in the recent Mercury Direct Station.

For better or worse, and right or wrong, we now believe we know where we stand and are ready to make a decision (if we did not do so previously) and move forward at full speed.

The “stronger” of these two Hele contains Uranus Square Pluto.  For some (many, actually), looking back to events that occurred some time near December 14, 2014 may provide insight to what is happening at the time of this full moon.  February 7, 2015 may also be useful.  Some may wish to look further back to late May of 2010.

We now present the United States maps.  The first is a Solar Maps map, and it shows the key lines (major aspects) in play in the United States at the time of this FM.  The second is a detailed Kepler 7 map, and it shows a number of additional lines considered to be “minor aspects.” US Map FM (SolarMaps) 2015-03-05

The key lines in the United States map are (1) a Saturn Descendant line that comes near Vancouver, Portland OR, and Las Vegas NV (and a number of other areas between them) and (2) a Hygeia line that goes through Sioux Falls SD and Memphis TN and a number of other points.  We note that this second line crosses a number of other lines, and this part of the South (Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama) are quite “lit up” by this FM.  Additional key lines affect the region from New York City to Baltimore MD (Pluto and Ceres), and another line (Pallas) affects Boston.  The region between New York and Baltimore will wrestle with certain important changes that may involve the food supply.  Boston, already a notoriously “intelligent” city, will receive a boost in the form of insights. We offer the Kepler map without interpretations due to the fact that it is so detailed.  We leave it as an exercise for the more motivated reader.

We do note that, per the Kepler map, (1) Albuquerque NM (and the region west of Albuquerque as well as central Mexico) is HIGHLY activated in terms of minor aspects; (2) the coast of California (including San Francisco, again), is also quite activated; and (3) Northern Virginia / DC (and Western PA including PIttsburgh) is quite activated.  Even though these are more “minor” lines compared to the lines in Solar Fire, they are so many of them in these regions that we can only conclude that the regions are activated.  This map also confirms important activations in Memphis (and nearby St. Louis) and Mississippi as well as Southern California.

Kepler offers “Treasure Maps,” and here is the “Love and Romance” treasure map for the U.S. on this Full Moon:

So, Albuquerque (or Spokane) might be a GREAT place for a weekend getaway on this Full Moon.  The same is true for central Pennsylvania, Northern Virginia, and eastern North Carolina.  The shore could be fun, or you might try Hershey.

We offer this detail map of Canada with a caution: because of its very northern location, parts of Canada are near the poles.  Since the poles are where all lines meet and merge, Canada invariably has a large number of lines.

Therefore, to look for points of activation, check for places with at least 3 or four lines near each other:

We note a number of activations for the U.K., France and Spain at this level of detail.  Additionally, eastern Greece will feel some sense of urgency (easy to determine from news reports, but this map confirms that), and both Saint Petersburg and Kiev are activated by some of these same lines.  Moscow is quite activated by a number of lines as well.  We present the chart for Moscow (filtered on 4th harmonic or “hard aspects” such as squares and oppositions):

Note that the Nodes are near the Ascendant / Descendant, and Pluto is near the IC.  These are challenging times for Moscow.  (Again, we know this from the news reports but, again, the map and chart confirm what we already know.)  With Uranus also on the 7th house cusp, we speculate that something could go “boom” in Moscow.

The Pluto Ascendant line, augmented by a number of other lines, speaks to radical changes that may be coming soon to Japan, particularly involving the financial sector, with this FM.  We note, also, that this FM occurs in Tokyo with Moon in the 8th house.

New Moon of February 18, 2015: Make a Decision

The New Moon of February 18, 2015 is much simpler than more recent events such as the Mercury Retrograde of February 11, last month’s new moon, or the Full Moon of February 3rd.  As with those patterns, we see an important decision.  Unlike those patterns, the situation has likely resolved itself into a single key decision, and you need to make it as decisively as possible and as close to the New Moon as possible (at 47 minutes after the hour adjusted for your individual time zone).  Ordinarily, we do not give precise times for a variety of reasons, but this event is clearly an exception to that.

We note, also, that this is the time of the Chinese New Year.  The official date is February 19th by most sources, but we note that it is this Aquarian New Moon that marks the beginning.

This is also Ash Wednesday, and that means the day before was Mardi Gras.  This time last year, we were wrestling with a grand cross.  For a grand cross where we said “things could go boom,” it was relatively quiet, except for hundreds of people being killed in Kiev.  I suppose that might be a noteworthy exception to “quiet.”  (And then there was that Craigslist killer.  Click for her chart. Bangkok had some unrest also.)  Is this year any better?  Only you can decide.  And this new moon focuses upon an important decision that you must make.

Prior to the New Moon, as with any new moon in general, you will want to clean house.  It is by removal and discarding that you will gain strength here.  And since both Sun and Moon immediately change sign into Pisces after this new moon, you will want to take your action and then rest.  (This may require physical relocation, hanging up the phone, or some other termination of communications.  TURN THE PHONE OFF at least for a few hours if not until tomorrow.)

Note that this Yod contains outer planets: Jupiter, Chiron, and Pluto.  Therefore, this is a longer term pattern and involves long term decisions.  This particular new moon is likely a “precipitating event” requiring action now but part of a bigger picture.  And while Yods usually do not particularly favor one path or the other, this one favors healing (Neptune, nearby) over death (Pluto, and further away).  The most important action at this time may be “changing the dressing on the wound.”

If you examine the Full Moon of February 3rd you will see that it has a focused Yod.  Some components of that Yod overlap with this one, and this emphasizes making a decision now if you did not decide then.  If you DID decide then, then you may have run into some obstacle, perhaps certain items or paperwork undone that needed to be revisited and completed (Mercury Retrograde).

If you “took care of business” and completed those items, you can now move forward with your decisive action (and you should).  The period between the Mercury Direct Station and this new moon should have given you ample time to clean up whatever mess needed to be cleaned up so that you can move forward.

In the New Moon of February 18th, you should find an opportunity, and the issues of the Mercury Retrograde are tied to it.  We see this in the formation of an “almost kite”:

We note at least one of those grand trines contains Uranus and therefor interacts with the long term T-Square involving Uranus, Pluto and the Nodes (this contains Uranus Square Pluto):

I note a pattern here, similar to a Huber learning triangle, formed of Septile aspects, involving the North Node, Chiron, and Saturn.

Regarding the maps, the most important point in the Western Hemisphere for this new moon is the Yucatan Peninsula.  (It is important because of the precise alignment of the Sun and Moon.)

While we cannot say exactly what will happen there, we can say that it is likely important.  (Maybe a good place to celebrate the Chinese New Year, as long as you stay safe.)

The two most interesting points in this map are (1) the Juno/Vesta crossing near Las Vegas, and (2) the Saturn / Neptune crossing about halfway between Atlanta, GA and Jacksonville, FL.

We note, also, that this Vesta line comes close to Portland, Oregon, bringing issues involving traditions and rituals into the public awareness at this time.  People who have ties to both Vegas and Portland will likely be particularly affected at this time.  Since Vesta CAN be tied to sex scandals, this might be one time when “what happens in Vegas” does NOT “stay in Vegas.”

With a Sun Descendant (Sun setting) line nearby, we note that Winnipeg is once again marked as “interesting” by this new moon.

Mostly the UK is quiet EXCEPT for the Jupiter line through Ireland.  We note this is likely a sign of prosperity for Ireland, and it might even be a good time for someone to play the Lotto in Ireland.  Jupiter CAN bring big LOSSES, so watch out for that, too. (Do not do anything particularly unintelligent.  But, generally, Jupiter tends to bring prosperity.)

Here is the map for Europe.  We note that France, the Netherlands, and Norway are lit up by Sun and Moon lines.  That particularly highlights the need for housecleaning and an important decision for people living near said lines in these regions:

We note that Venus and Mars lines run through this area, and both are late in Pisces.  We note that Mars is part of the “Almost Kite” mentioned earlier and may bring an opportunity to those who are prepared for it.  However, the window will not be open for long.  One serious risk for late Pisces is that of deception and criminality, so some may (wisely) choose to NOT engage in this “opportunity” if it is “too good to be true.”  In the end, only you can decide.  Venus does Quintile Pluto at this time, so we do expect some people to develop some rather ingenious ideas.  (Again, some of them may be criminal.)

The Pluto Line, and nearby Ceres line, particularly stand out.  We also note the Node line coming near Adelaide, and the Astraea line near Hobart in Tasmania.  In addition to the Pluto and Ceres lines crossing the corridor between Adelaide and Melbourne, so does a Uranus line.  Any transportation (or possibly communications) between these two areas could be subject to some disruptions or need for upgrades.

I should note at this point that, to some degree, the order in which I post maps is related to my readership.  The United States always brings the most traffic, followed by Canada and the UK (the islands not the empire) vying for second place, then India and Australia vying for third and fourth. Sometimes Australia will top either the UK or Canada.  Usually everyone else follows.  The rankings may vary sometimes, but it is always the U.S. first, with the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and India rounding out the top five.  Recently, though, I have seen additional traffic from Bulgaria, Estonia, Singapore, and South Africa.  (So, I have added maps, to the degree that my software supports it, to provide support for those visitors.)

Mercury Direct Station February 11, 2015

No doubt some of you are wondering about the details of the Mercury Direct Station of February 11, 2015.  We have much to say about it because a number of patterns are in play, and the maps are interesting.  We start with twin yods that tell us that each of us, both collectively and individually, have TWO distinctly different decisions facing us as Mercury turns direct.  Here is that chart:

In astrology, “two” sometimes means “two or more.”  So, you may have a series of important decisions.  One of these focuses on trust issues, and may focus on your spouse, partner, or another important significant other (Juno at apex).  The other decision involves health and healthcare (Hygeia at apex).  While these two COULD be linked, for the majority of people we are talking about independent decisions.  The Juno (trust) decision is between Venus (usually prosperity but sometimes becoming a bit stuck) and Ceres (more risky and possibly austerity).  The Hygeia decision is between Mercury (communication and transportation, but STANDING STILL) and Saturn (hard lessons but strength when those lessons are finished).

A Hele, Rosetta, and a Square Key are in play.  (Not entirely surprising given the patterns of the past few days.  However, THIS Hele and THIS Square Key are different from the previous ones.  New variants of old dramas?)

The Hele represents a polarizing influence, and people can distinctly take sides; they will tend to be intractable (as we expect from a Hele), but the Rosetta shows a (different) conflict in which the issues are not so clear cut or organized.  In that case, some people may defect and move “to the other side.”  The Square Key oddly ties these conflicts together when they might otherwise be unrelated.  Here is each chart, beginning with the Hele, then the Rosetta, and then the Square Key:

Important to note is that the MOON is contained in ALL of these three patterns.  This is another signal that some of the forward motion on certain issues may not really begin until the New Moon of February 18th, about a week away.  (Nine days after that, on February 27th, we perfect the Jupiter Quincunx Pluto again.  This will heighten any sense of agitation that we must “do something”‘ yet we cannot quite obtain the solution we seek.  We suspect that a more radical transformation (Pluto) may be necessary.  This particularly applies issues involving politics (Jupiter in Leo) and Economics (Pluto in Capricorn).)

Next, we show a chart of Mercury and all its aspects with other planets.  We note that Venus, Pluto, Ceres, and Astraea are excluded.  The remainder are in some kind of aspect (some higher order).

Here are the maps:  We start with the United States, Canada, and Mexico:

This is an unusually complex map (for the U.S.).  The Jupiter / Saturn crossing at San Francisco activates that city AGAIN.  While we cannot say precisely what this means, it almost certainly relates to finances and probably has some kind of impact on Wall Street in NYC.  We see a Sun line cross Idaho, Nevada, and the portion of California roughly midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.  (Sun lines are usually benevolent.)  Neptune and Chiron lines cross at the “Four Corners,” and they tell us this region needs some kind of “healing.”

Venus and Mars ascendant lines light up the midwest, from North Dakota to Texas.  What do these two mean together?  In more literal translations they mean “sex” (Mars) and “love” (Venus) or arguably the male (Mars) and female (Venus) principles.  In more practical day to day terms, we think people in this region will be ready to move forward on some key issue even more than others at this time of doing precisely that (moving forward).

Chicago is located midway between a Uranus and North Node line (that travels from Wisconsin to the “panhandle” of Eastern Florida.  Expect surprises if you live in this region, and be aware that you can obtain some brilliant insights at this time.  As an aside, I would not be surprised to learn that the Powerball winners for the big jackpot at this time (half a billion USD) live somewhere near these lines.

Pluto, Ceres, and Astraea lines light up the eastern portion of the U.S., especially Pittsburg/Youngstown OH, West Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia.  Turmoil and conflict leading to major changes may arise in these regions.

We do not duplicate these explanations for Canada or Mexico since they are easily extended to those maps:

Well, maybe we will note four: (1) the Jupiter line (usually benevolent but always an amplifier) touches Calgary, (2) Vancouver is affected by the Saturn line (the same one that touches San Francisco), (3) the Mars Ascendant line comes quite close to Winnipeg, and (4) the Pluto and Ceres lines affect the region due west of Toronto.

Monterrey has the Mars line nearby (possibly indicating more unrest); Guadalajara (Venus line) is a better pick if you are taking a short vacation to Mexico at this time.

The Pallas line (warrior intelligence, a line of focused insight) touches the center of Ireland, from Derry to Cork.  This line picks up a far edge of Scotland also.  Aberdeen is touched by a Mercury line (and given that Mercury is stationary in this chart we assume this could mean communication or transportation problems possibly followed by insightful solutions).  Much of the UK appears unaffected, but we suspect that if we drew a “midpoint line” involving Pallas and Mercury that the UK would light up.  (What does that mean?  Some initial problems in transportation or communication or both followed possibly by some ingenious insights.)

We zoom out to the Europe map:

The Mercury line that touches Aberdeen affects much of Western Europe, as does a corresponding Vesta line.  We see Uranus crossing near the French / Swiss border and would not be surprised to hear of either (1) a breakthrough at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) or (2) some kind of accident or even (3) both.  An Astraea Midheaven line comes near Munich (Munchen) and signifies that issues of bringing criminals to justice may come into the spotlight.  The Vesta line that touches Aberdeen also touches Frankfurt.  The Jupiter Ascendant line brings prospectives of a newfound prosperity to Warsaw and strength to Poland as well as Bucharest and Romania.

The Node line (karma) touches Stavanger in Norway bringing the idea of “reaping what you sow.”  Metaphorically, the “good little boys and girls” should do well while the bad ones will receive “ashes and switches.”  A Uranus line touches Norway as well, bringing surprises in the form of accidents, insights, or both.  (“Watson, come here.”)  Sweden is touched by Jupiter (same as Poland) and Sun lines, Stockholm is midway between them, and this tends to signal prosperity for this region.  (Spring may start early?)

We see a crossing of Saturn and Jupiter lines (similar to San Francisco) at the southern cost.  Not TOO far from Perth we see an IC Mercury line, and this could indicate communications or transportations difficulties in this reason.  Being an IC line (“the grave”), this could result in significant loss of life.  The Jupiter line touches Alice Springs, but most of the rest of the region is quiet.  (Except for the Mars line touching southern New Zealand.)

At this point, we present maps for India, Japan, and SE Asia without comment.  (Until we can add a further update.)

India and the surrounding region is a bit complex.  The Mars descendant line pierces the middle of the country, running North to South and coming near a number of the most populous regions.  People may feel the need to “get things done,” athletes may have breakthroughs, and some conflicts (including physical ones) may emerge.  Pallas and Venus affect Surat, Ahmadabad, and Bombay, bringing the prospect of the successful implementation of breakthrough ideas that bring prosperity to these areas.  Kabul in Afghanistan has the Chiron Descendant line nearby, signaling the possibility of a desperately needed healing of relationships.

The Jupiter Midheaven (MC) line brings prosperity to southern Japan (particularly the region between Hiroshima and Kyoto/Osaka).  A Sun / Moon crossing near Tokyo signals the same thing, though not as strong as southern Japan.  Japan is about to move into better, and stronger, times.

We end with a map of the region of Southeast Asia and note, as we typically do, that this is a complex map.  Consequently, we will leave the interpretation open.  (Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore have FIVE lines running through them! Hele of February 7, 2015

A Hele dominates the sky, continuing to be a polarizing influence, over the course of February 7, 8, & 9.  Expect some squabbles during this time, and people becoming intractable in their positions.  Here is the chart for the beginning of the Hele:

What catches our eye about this event (and we are using 1 PM based on news reports, so accuracy might be in question by a few minutes), is the Hele that is in play.  As we have mentioned before, the Hele tends to be a polarizing pattern that splits people into opposing groups who have difficulty coming to agreement:

While probably not as unforgiving as a Capricorn Moon, Virgo moons tend to focus on details and sometimes ignore the “bigger picture.”  This can be infuriating to some people.  Moon opposite Neptune (delusions, drugs, and alcohol; also victims, martyrs, and the downtrodden) is almost exact here.

We note, also, (and oddly!) a kite here.  Someone missed an opportunity, unless you consider the shooting itself to be an “opportunity.”  This kite contains a grand fire trine, and that can fuel emotions (and possibly tempers).

We note that the South Node is part of the Grand Trine, and that is about “taking the easy way out.”  Pallas (the warrior asteroid), and Jupiter (the great amplifier that makes everything larger and sometimes blows some things “out of proportion” complete the grand trine).  The kite is completed by an Aquarian Sun in the process of perfecting an opposition to Jupiter.

We also note a number of T-Squares in play (along with the anxiety and conflict that they bring):

We suspect that the precipitating event was a bit earlier, probably about 12:30 PM EST (or maybe slightly later), when Saturn was angular and on the 7th house cusp.

Of course, Saturn is anathema to the 7th house of relationships (and open enemies).  We see a Saturn / North Node (Karma) triseptile (one of the karmic aspects) along with a square to the Moon and inconjunct with Hygeia (healthcare, and this shooting happened in the healthcare department).

While we do see some “fate” in this chart, we suspect that the parties involved had some choice.  The chart even indicated an “opportunity” here for someone willing step away from the situation and look for it.  (And, with other people in other locales, that exact thing may have happened.  That is, any person in a desperate situation similar to that of the shooter found away to gain advantage in a different (non-violent) manner just by pausing long enough to see it.  Then, an explosive reaction was no longer necessary and no “event” occurred.)
