Jupiter Quincunx Neptune then Pluto

An interesting configuration is emerging for mid August through September: Jupiter enters into a Quincunx with Neptune on August 14th and then another Quincunx with Pluto on September 5th.  The Quincunx tends to be a frustrating aspect indicating miscommunications and false hopes.  Arguable, given that the fastest moving planet here is Jupiter, and that it takes a year to move through a sign, this pair of Quincunxes is actually a Yod.  Yods signal forks in the road where we must make a choice and will inevitably look back at the path we did not choose to take.

If this is indeed a yod, and I believe it qualifies, it indicates one of the biggest decision making periods to face us (collectively) in years.  For many people, this period in August through September of 2014 will signal a major shift.  Even if it is not entirely visible now, in years to come many of us will see how critically important our decisions were in this period.  What follows are the two charts for the “exact” points of each of these aspects.  But, again, these are such large aspects that for individuals the triggers for the critical moments will almost certainly involve aspects of the Sun or Moon or both.

In all fairness, I should note that these aspects are followed by different versions of these same aspects later this year and in 2015.  The Jupiter / Neptune Quincunx repeats October 23, 2016, May 17, 2017, and July 4, 2017.   Jupiter / Pluto Quincunx first occurred (in this cycle) July 18, 2012, then Dec 20, 2012 (the rather famous Solstice), March 29, 2013, September 5, 2014, February 27, 2015, and May 21, 2015.  BUT, the FIRST PAIRING of these occurs August / September 2014.  (Hence, this is the critical period, followed by a few more chances to “change the road you’re on.” (to paraphrase Led Zeppelin))

For many of us as individuals, the critical decisions will involve career or family or both.  Collectively, one critical question is whether certain current skirmishes will be contained or grow into some “world war.”  Many of these questions are really but the tip of a much larger iceberg.

What really interests me is the question of when do the Jupiter BiQuintiles to these planets occur?  (BiQuintiles are excellent for creative work and innovation.)  As far as I can tell, however, the current version of Solar Fire (SF 8) cannot do an electional search for Quintiles / BiQuintiles.  (If I am wrong, somebody let me know how to do this.)  (Update 8/18: I have a solution now and plan to explore this in a later post.)

If you are reading this post some years in the future, say about 2020 or beyond, please try to avoid romancing the choice (or “road”) that you did not take at this time.  It was fraught with perils that are now invisible to you from your vantage point in the future.  Chances are good that you made the right decision, even if it proved to be a bit problematic.

    • Caroline, I have written an editorial piece tonight that I will post separately. It addresses the energy of the Grand Yod (as I call it) as well as the upcoming culminating Full Moon on Monday September 8th. –GT

    • Not grounded in any astrological theory that I am aware of, but grounded in practice. And also grounded in discussions with an old mentor of mine from years ago. Big planetary aspects / movements (slow outer planets, which I like to call generational planets) have “orbs” to the aspects that easily last days if not weeks. Arguably they can be much longer. For example, Uranus and Pluto have been engaging in a series of squares that started circa 2011 and go until 2015. Arguably, that ENTIRE period of YEARS is characterized by the squares, with the more precise alignments covering periods that are minimally weeks in duration (or longer).

Individuals tend to be focused on the “here and now” and that means windows of awareness that range from minutes to maybe days at most. We just don’t SEE these larger patterns, at least not directly, a bit like that proverbial frog in the slowly warming pan of water. What we DO see are precipitating events that emerge with, say, a full moon or a new moon during these larger patterns. These frequent events (either a new or full moon every two weeks) tend to cause events to happen a bit like “lancing a boil.” The building pressure from the larger aspect just sort of spurts out, frequently in an argument or fight or some other dramatic event. THAT is the kind of thing that we can “see.”

Does that help clarify “these are such large aspects that for individuals the triggers for the critical moments will almost certainly involve aspects of the Sun or Moon or both”?

[…] EarthSky.org calls this a “micro-moon,” noting that it precedes an Eclipse on March 20th and a “Blood Moon” on April 4th.  We start our analysis by noting that another yod is in play in this Pisces (Sun) / Virgo (Moon) FM!  So, again, some KEY DECISION is in play for all of us, both collectively and individually.  We also note that yods (decisions) have been prominent in the sky since last summer.
