Here is the Aquarius New Moon for January 2014.  We note that this marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year, and this begins the year of the Horse.

One thing leaps out about this chart: Jupiter opposes the conjunction of Venus / Pluto.  For those starting new romances at this time, expect “things” to be particularly “hot” in terms of sex and romance.  This could be one of the best “date nights” of the year, maybe for several years.  Wow!

For some, the shift will come in the form of unexpected and sudden career changes.  Many people will experience sudden promotions or opportunity disguised as loss (such as being fired from a rotten job).  Expect the unexpected!

The Moon and the Grand Cross of January 21st 2014

The Moon activates the Grand Cross again, and I suspect that the United States (and perhaps the rest of the planet) will feel this in the form of the winter storm (“Polar Vertex”) already predicted by the weather service.

Specifically, the Moon first opposes Uranus in Aries (surprises and accidents, as many of us have noted in the past few years) and then squares Pluto in Capricorn (which can be banks, police, and intelligence agencies, but the Ruler of the Underworld (Pluto) is famous for bringing ice and snow).  Notice that this is an “activation” of the ongoing Uranus / Pluto square that has been the subject of much discussion and that affects us from 2012 to 2015.

Finally, the Moon squares Jupiter as its last act in this Grand Cross.  Jupiter makes things larger (will this be a larger storm than forecasted?), and Jupiter is in the sign of the Moon, Cancer.  As a parting shot, the Moon will conjoin Mars, an aspect that usually favors athletes and trial lawyers but is typically difficult for most of the rest of us. After meeting Mars, the Moon will turn void (v/c) until it enters Scorpio and moves to meet Saturn.  (i.e. difficulties will continue)

January 21st and 22nd will tend to be dangerous.  Would be smart to stock up on supplies before the rush begins.

We’ll see other interesting events, including possibly more intrigues with intelligence agencies.  Let us hope that we do not see anyone else shot for sending a text message to their babysitter while in a cinema.

MLK Holiday Weekend Astrology Forecast for 2014

Sometimes the astrology tells us what we already know.  That is, it confirms the obvious.  That is true for this weekend.  Two patterns stand out, and both are following the recent Grand Cross Full Moon of January 2014.

The first pattern is a Thor’s Hammer a bit past 1 AM CST, (2 AM EST) on Saturday morning.  This would be just past midnight in Denver and past 11 PM on Friday in California.  Thor’s Hammers have been associated with people and places that go boom, and we have seen them in events associated with problems in mines and mining.  If it passes uneventfully, then the energy will likely dissipate quickly.  Otherwise it will feed into the Yod that follows.

Yods are associated with choices.  Since Thor’s Hammers are associated with unpredictability, we cannot say what key decisions would follow if an event occurs related to the TH.  Otherwise, we get an obvious holiday weekend pattern for the MLK Holiday weekend of 2014.

Namely, the Yod has Mercury at the apex (youth, communications, transportation) and Jupiter (in Cancer, which probably means family outings and travel) at one decision point and the Moon in Virgo at the other decision point (which likely means time spent at home quietly).  We expect these decisions on holidays weekends, but the Yod tells us (1) the decision is an important one and (2) we will be disappointed with the decision regardless of which option we choose.

Since the Yod is a fairly wide pattern that covers at least a day if not two or three, we do not present Solar Maps for that pattern.  Here are the charts (and maps for the Thor’s Hammer) for both patterns:

Full Moon January 2014

This Full Moon is highly activated.  Expect combinations of weirdness and unexpected events along with rare opportunities that open for only the briefest of moments.  If you do choose to grab the “brass ring,” you may have to work for those lotto winnings, but it will be worth it.  Watch out for things (and people) who go “boom.”  Relationships are strained, and emotions run high.  Your mother might surprise you (or have an accident).

More than most full moons, the lunatics will be in full regalia.  Speaking of (dangerous) lunatics, does anyone have birth data for Curtis Reeves, the retired police officer who shot someone for text messaging?  (If that link is broken, try this one or this one.)

For the upcoming Full Moon (of January 2014), several hotspots are present in the maps.  The East Coast of the U.S. is affected by Moon / Mars / Vesta / Ceres.  Because of other activations, Middle East diplomacy becomes a big issue at this time.

Grand Cross of January 7th and Edward Snowden

We are entering an “interesting” (and dangerous) period.  What will come is presaged by the Grand Cross of January 7th:

As you can see, the main players are Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto.  The Uranus / Pluto square series has been discussed elsewhere on this site and on other sites.  We point out that adding Mars / Jupiter to the mix is a particularly powerful activation.  I tend to think of the Uranus / Pluto combination as a bit like a spark looking for a fuel / air mixture to make something go “boom.”  Mars / Jupiter tends to be a fuel / air mixture.

When this is in the form of a spark plug igniting gasoline in the cylinder of an automobile (or other vehicle), then the combination is useful.  But when it is a spark in a coal mine that makes coal dust go boom, this is very bad.

US Map Grand Cross 1-6-2014 11-58-56 PMAlso, this pattern may mark an important turning point in the ongoing story of the NSA and Edward Snowden.  Using the data from this version of Edward Snowden’s chart, namely the June 21, 1983 / 0442 EDT / Elizabeth City NC data, yields a chart that shows (1) a Scorpio Moon applying (loosely) to an opposition to Algol, (2) Mars Conjunct North Node in first house, and (3) Sun conjunct Betelgeuse.

His 8th house (house of spies, intelligence agencies, and assassinations) is intercepted, and the ruler of the 8th (Saturn) is conjunct Pluto (planet of spies, intelligence agencies, and assassinations) in the 5th house (of speculation, luck, and gambling).

A turning point is coming for him soon (this month, January).  Sadly, chances for confinement look pretty strong for him.

But confinement will escalate his stature as a folk hero.  (The authorities will make a terrible mistake if they succeed in doing that.  Public perception will be a bit like looking at Darth Vader attempting to strike down Obi-Wan Kenobi when the supposedly feeble old man gently states “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.”)

Do not be surprised to hear some compare him to Nelson Mandela should Snowden be imprisoned.

If the government REALLY wants to punish him, they should assist him in writing a NY Times bestseller and going on a really LONG book tour.  (Rumor has it that those book tours can be rather strenuous. 🙂  )

A window of opportunity will open for some on January 5th.  In particular, a Kite will occur:

A kite is a kind of a super-charged Grand Trine, and this one taps the Grand Water Trine of 2013 which continues to persist into 2014 (although it will begin breaking up).  This particular kite is stronger than many (which have the Moon somewhere in them which makes them comparatively unstable).  With the Sun in opposition to Jupiter, some will overspend, overeat, and overdo.  This will be to their detriment.  But others will greatly benefit during this period, particularly the prudent people who can focus themselves appropriately.  (With the Sun in Capricorn, the key to harvesting the beneficial energy of this event is self-discipline.)

Here is the U.S. Map.  Based on this map, I would not be surprised to see this energy manifest as a winter storm (with those who have properly prepared benefiting from their preparations).  Since Hercules is here (as I write this), I have to wonder if this means another storm will be coming behind Hercules?  (If so, it looks like the Rocky Mountains may be hit very hard.)
