Two patterns dominate today’s sky as the Moon enters Scorpio.  Both of them demand action.  The potential for more damage or violence exists here.

The first is known as Thor’s Hammer or the Quadriform.  It is also known as “God’s Fist.”  From the article just linked to:

Other astrologers see the energy flow originating in the apex planet, which then must find a way to wield the power and dynamic stress of the square planets. It’s a little like holding a live grenade – what do you do with it?? You need to find a way to use it constructively and creatively, or the energy can become destructive. This image is like a Hammerhead or God’s Fist.

Here, the planets are the Moon (in Scorpio), Mars (in Early Leo, square to the Moon), and Jupiter in Pisces sesquiquadrate to both.  How will you use this energy?  The following chart is entry into perfection of the Thor’s hammer at 9pm local (Dallas) time:

But, earlier, a Double Thor’s Hammer occurred.  The second square involved is Mercury square Mars, so both patterns are connected by the common planet Mars.  This larger pattern made of two embedded patterns is not an acknowledged pattern, but the pattern is obvious, and so is what the name should be:

Of course, this is a bit like having a hand-grenade in EACH hand, and the explosive power is provided here by Mars (maximum explosive power).  Actually, this should be called a “Left Double Thor’s Hammer” since an alternative form, the “Right Double Thor’s Hammer” can exist.  (Or, if you prefer the less dramatic: Left Double Quadriform and Right Double Quadriform).

The other pattern is a Hele.  The pattern was recognized recently, in 2004, by Sally Fisher (according to the link just provided).  Here, Uranus and Neptune are in a semi-sextile.  Uranus trines Mars (a potentially bad aspect regarding bombs and terrorism) and Moon trines Neptune (which either leads to great creativity or things being cloudy and obscured).  Moon and Mars complete the pattern with their square.

Only recently recognized, not much is known about the Hele.  But, the two trines involving two planets with large orbits (Uranus 84 years / Neptune 160 years) implies that the events of today (and maybe the past few days) will have significant consequences for many years to come.  Although maps would be “nice,” choosing a specific point in time is difficult.  For example, would it be the Moon ingress to Scorpio or the perfection of Moon square Mars?  When the Hele perfected?  When the Quadriform(s) perfected?

The two patterns are intricately connected and make two different but inter-related pronouncements on the same matters (Moon in Scorpio square Mars in Leo).  In fact, this might be considered some greater pattern, a superset of both embedded patterns.  In a sense, this pattern looks a bit like a square key or double yod key (prevalent yesterday).

The author of this blog (who prefers to be anonymous until after his death, and only known as “Grand Trines”) will therefore dub this, as alternative synonyms, the Quadriform Key or the Hele Key.  (And, arguably, it could be called a “Thor’s Hammer Key” (more dramatic than the other names) or the “God’s Fist Key” (the most dramatic of all).)

Then again, maybe someone else (Grant Lewi?) found the same thing in the 1930′s.  (But, as of this writing, no clear evidence exists of any prior recognition or naming.  But the author of this website is a fan of Lewi’s, so he gets a plug.)

By the time you read this, you wil have likely passed through the longest night of the year. This one was longer than usual, emphasizing its power.

Ancients viewed this night as a time of great evil. Later, the event was reframed as the birth of the Sun (dawn) occured after the event of the Solstice. The Sun will actually rise before the PRECISE point of the Solstice in the UK & Europe, but most of the US (except the East Coast) will experience the sunrise after the Solstice.

Okay, what does that mean? For some of us, in the U.S., Sunday will be a powerful day; however, this particular power will not be felt until Monday for the UK & Europe.

This power is the power of rebirth. Some believe that ALL resurrection myths arose from the reframing of the “long night” into the (re-)birth of the Sun. From this point, until the Summer Solstice, the Sun grows in power.

This power is usually not obvious until after the Spring Equinox. This, this dawning, and Winter, is a time to recognize hidden sources of power and how a seed grows roots before it breaks the surface as a sprout.

That is the proper use of this power. By 7PM EST (midnight in the UK) the Moon has moved into Scorpio, and THAT further indicates the power of hidden growth.

Take a moment to look at forgotten projects. Clean out the garage or messy closet and find the lost object that will help you resurrect a project that helps you find freedom, joy, comfort, or whatever is your heart’s true desire.

The only “weakness” of this day may be a temptation to make unnecessary expenditures. Temper you judgment with the wisdom available to you today.

At approximately 10AM in the UK, the Moon in Leo will Oppose Neptune in Aquarius. For those of us in the US, we’ll be sleeping and this will help us to dream, perhaps with revelations in our dreams. But for those in London and Paris, this will cause a bit of havoc.

Not to fear, this isn’t a major event but a once a month event. Even so, either confusion will reign or unrealistic notions will take charge. If you chose the “idealistic” path yesterday, instead of the practical, you might get in a little bit to deep at this time. Those who opted to be practical may be irritated by emails bouncing or unclear language on contracts or similar problems.

The rest of the day tends to have a “get things done” quality brought on by Squares. Disagreement will tend to result, but they will lead to action. Please note that by 4:30 EST the Sun will go void for a few days (when Moon enters 4th quarter) followed by the Moon going void for half an hour on each side of 8PM EST.

This particular double void (with a 4th quarter moon!) is a good time to wrapup “things Scorpio,” particular if the “wrapup” is in the form of meditation and visualization. I suppose you could take action, but it should be the “letting go” type of action. If you having been mourning the loss of a loved one, then maybe this is the time to permit yourself to have a reprieve. Think of something new and different you can do that might bring you (okay, I hate to use this term, but….) a quantum of solace.

At least one of my readers is wrestling (metaphorically) with her teenaged daughter.  This paragraph is specifically for you.  This double void period might be a time where you can finally have that heart to heart you’ve been wanting to have.  The important thing is to value the “connectedness” and not depend on what she has to say.  She may not yet be able to quite voice her innermost hopes and fears.  But, you might be able to reach a point where you acknowledge her “coming of age” in a healing way.
Except for California (PST) and MST, the Moon in Virgo Square Mars in Sadge is a topic for Thursday’s note. You might have a little trouble sleeping, or even a late night quarrel. Defer all til Sunday if you can. The period from now til then is about organizing and researching.

Full Moon of November 13, 2008

If you live in the UK, then the Full Moon happens Thursday November 13th; that is also true for those on the east coast as well as those in Central Time zone in the U.S. Being in DFW, I view events from a Central Time viewpoint. This same event occurs on Wednesday the 12th for those in Pacific Time and points west.

A full moon with the Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus happens once a year, but varies in precise location (in terms of degrees) from year to year.

This year the event occurs at 21 degrees, so if your Sun, Moon, or Ascendant is there then this is an important event for you. (Example: those with Aug 14th birthdays would be affected.)  Unsure if you have a 21 degree planet?  Try the free chart page at AstroLabe.

For President Obama, this most affects his Mars in Virgo at 22 degrees. I’ll offer that this Full Moon is about getting things done. Obama is a Solar Leo, and things Virgo tend to be things financial for Solar Leos. Bottom line: The President Elect needs to get as many things in place regarding the financial sector as soon as possible. After the Full Moon, “things” will change.

For the rest of us, the answers are found in three additional events: (1) Sun Sextile Saturn on Tuesday; (2) Venus conjuncts Pluto then enters Capricorn; and (3) Jupiter Sextiles Uranus. I suppose I could add (4) Sun Squares Neptune.

(1) Sun Sextile Saturn on Tuesday. This day is about getting things done. You’ll feel like working, and you should. Avoid the frivilous like the plague. Not the best day for you if your work involves anything “goofy.” Clowns should stay home. Artists and Writers should use this day to catch up on finances and paperwork; all of us should.

(2) Venus Conjuncts Pluto then enters Cap. Pluto, which is ordinarily malefic without any additional influence, continues to be atop of malefic part of Sagittarius. In a sense, this extra-malefic Pluto “poisons” dear Venus. This aspect perfects about 1am Eastern, midnight Central, 5am UK.

The earlier part of the day was a good thing to get things done, but this evening is a good time to hide unless you are a criminal or a cheat. Criminals and cheats will fare quite well this evening. If you are NOT a criminal, cheat, scammer, or liar, then secure your possessions and do NOT engage in any form of business this evening. Any “offers” that come your way this evening are almost certainly scams. Straight to the trash for them.

When is it safe to act again? I’d say Saturday afternoon through “about” 10pm Central on Sunday. This weekend will be a source of some AMAZING financial deals done on the golf course, family dinner, and other close & personal private gatherings.

(3) Jupiter Sextiles Uranus. This is a BIG and long term aspect that has been in the process of perfecting for a month or three depending on your point of view. It will exert similar influence for another month or three. More than a few Taureans, Virgos, and (ESPECIALLY) Capricorns are benefiting from this; water signs also to a lesser degree.

If you bought Big Oil (Scorpio) then you placed yourself in a position to make quite a bit of money. Prices were artifically high; now, they are almost certainly artificially low.

This is a major “lotto winner” aspect, but for many the Lotto won’t be a ticket bought at a convenience store. This may be the time to get into a educational program that you thought you couldn’t enter. Or, it may be a time to enter certain kinds of business (obviously the kind that benefits from a recession). If you don’t get the job done Monday or Tuesday (or maybe Wednesday), then shoot for the Saturday / Sunday period described above.

(4) Sun Squares Neptune. All good things come to an end. Sun Squares Neptune is death to many activities and events. Neptune is associated with illness, and I’ve seen myself get a bug around this kind of aspect. This happens Thursday morning after the Full Moon (afternoon for UK), and it brings to an end everything described in 1, 2, & 3, above. Of course, #3 is very long term, so other opportunities will open. But for THIS Full Moon, the Sun Square Neptune aspect kills the ability to get things done for most of us.

Exceptions exist, of course. Some scientific researchers, if their research isn’t contaminated or spoiled under this aspect, may make breakthroughs. Actually, the BIGGEST breakthroughs maybe if the research *IS* contaminated. After all, that is how Fleming discovered Penicillin. (Penicillin mold contaminated his petri dish and killed his bacterial cultures.) Ditto for the Stickie Note. So, pay attention. That Thursday disaster may have a brilliant solution to a larger problem hidden within it.

One footnote: look for the events of this Full Moon to resurface circa July 21st of 2010.

New Moon in Scorpio October 2008

For most of us, both US & UK, the New Moon in Scorpio occurs Tuesday, October 28th. You took care of that key matter yesterday, didn’t you? The irritating problem that you’d rather put off–you know the one–you closed that out, didn’t you?

Me either. But, I plan to follow my advice today. You should, too, knowing that today is trickier with Mercury in Libra Inconjunct Uranus in PIsces. False hopes and miscommunications may throw up roadblocks making the job we must do more difficult to complete. Push on through; you can do it.

After sunset, whereever you may be, take time to sit still and envision your next key actions. The best time is circa 1914 EDT per Llewellyn’s Daily Planetary Guide. You’ll have “about” a 30 minute window, from 15 minutes before until 15 minutes afterward. This is a Scorpio New Moon, and it is a powerful time to receive revelations in general but especially if that regard keeping your secrets, revealing the secrets of others, sex, procreation, birthing a person or a project, oil, mining, chemicals, toxins, poisons, healing by purging, or covert operations. Remember, “first, do no harm.”

Whatever happened Saturday, whatever nudged you on that day, please understand that by Tuesday you can no longer ignore it.  Take the energy that you get from Mars in Scorpio Square Chiron in Aquarius on Monday and use it to dispose of the issue during the Dark of the Moon.  This will send it away, and you can concentrate on new matters after the New Moon of Tuesday.

If you do NOT dispose of it on Monday, then it may begin to grow (and “fester” as we say here).  Lance the boil on Monday, or it will grow rather large during the next fourteen days.

I cannot tell you what it is, but this is a wound in need of cleaning.  As you read this, you may come to realize that this repair is overdue.  If you “sweep it under the rug” (a popular thing to do with multiple planets in Scorpio), then this may truly “bite” you later.

Monday is the kind of day that looks fairly ordinary. Unless exotic transits such as septiles and noviles are in play (I don’t calculative those but probably should), Monday just seems like, well, Monday.

People will be born on Monday, and people will die, and it will be an important day for many people. Some will be hired and some will be fired. But this day does not appear to be a “cosmic punctuation mark.” And, as far as outer planets go, the Moon touches them. But, this only serves as activators for certain people with charts that are specifically activated. So, I will go far onto a limb and say that this day does not stand out.

An exception exists: this is a grand water trine day. The GT is loose, and it affects things water. By loose, I mean that the first part occurs just after midnight with the following part just before the following midnight.

My first inclination is to think that finance = earth, but a number of others have indicated to me in the past that the big “money maker” is a grand water trine. And, that has proved correct before. So, this day may be an “activator” regarding financial issues. In a sense, an activator day lances the boil that is waiting to pop.

Water particularly affects the following: emotions, birth & death & inheritances, taxes, anything dealing with the ocean & shipping, pipes of any kind, petroleum, almost any underground resource, drugs, and poisons.

The Cancer side of the trine focuses on families, mothers, oceans and other bodies of water. The Piscean side rules the music and film industries, poetry, concerts (along with Aquarius), illness, drugs, alcohol, psychic intuitions, and pipes.

Scorpio rules birth and death, inheritances, taxes, police, intelligence agencies, poisons, drugs (benevolent and malevolent), particularly laxatives, things hidden, things underground, and nuclear energy. Petroleum and petroleum based companies and products are generally ruled by Scorpio. Ice and snow are government by the “fixed water sign” Scorpio.

Scorpio especially rules trash cans, and anything “lost” by falling into the trash can.

Some are shared. Pipes are Piscean, but some astrologers think that they are Scorpionic because they “are underground,” (incorrect, they are often underground but not always) and they are “fixed.” The problem is that it isn’t the PIPE that is the key; the key is the “flow” of whatever is flowing through the pipe. This kind of movement is Piscean. One could argue that the pipe ITSELF is Scorpionic. Maybe. But the SYSTEM of pipes & flow are Piscean.

As a general rule, Scorpio makes secrets (hides things, loses things) and Pisces reveals (or finds things). Today, both sides are at play. You may find one thing (particularly since Mercury just went direct), but might lose some other thing.

So, don’t be surprised if any of these areas or industries are activated Monday. Technically, scale is irrelevant (that’s the point of “As above, so below”), but this is a day where influence will GENERALLY be more “grass roots” than “top down.”

Recognize that this grand trine precedes the transit of the Sun into Scorpio. In a sense, things that happen today may fully “take root” on or after October 22nd.

Mayan Calendar (2012) and Saturn in Scorpio 1

I’ll probably have a number of posts to write about this, but I’d like to write a short one now. Saturn is in Virgo and Pluto is in Capricorn. Both are malefics, both are trine, and Pluto is in Saturn’s home. What does this mean? I think that the answer to that is unfolding currently.

“2012″ seems to divide people into two camps: those who have heard about it and are terrified, and those who either haven’t heard of it or don’t care. I’m in a third: I think it is a curiosity, but I haven’t put much stock into it.

I’d like to point out a few interesting astrological issues, though. (1) Saturn will move into Scorpio, which is MUCH tougher than Virgo; and (2) Saturn and Pluto will be in mutual reception.

I could stop there; those two would be enough by themselves. But those born in the mid 1980s will be entering or about to enter their Saturn returns. A number of astrologers call this generation the “Chernobyl” or “Columbine” generation. The Challenger Space Shuttle disaster happened in 1986. Some have watched this generation cautiously, and I note that they begin their Saturn returns at that time.

All of this is far away, but I would offer that the current events will set the stage for those events, four years away. This election is profound, but the following one will be even more profound.

Scorpio rules (1) things underground; (2) poisons in general; and (3) especially liquids that are poisonous. Easily deduced from #1, #2, and #3, Scorpio rules crude oil generally, with Neptune & Pisces controlling the pipes. Saturn is cardinal earth, it tends to make things shrink, and it also tends to “dry up” things.

So, four years in advance, I offer this. The current “difficulties” are preparing us for what is ahead, four years from now. We are NOT having a “Great Depression,” yet, but if we do not make major changes to conserve and manage resources better, we might encounter such problems by 2012. The current “financial woes” are a wake up call.
