January 9, 10, & 11: A Rather Wild Weekend
January 9, 2009 at 12:29 am | In Astrology, Lunations, Predictions, Weekends | 4 CommentsTags: diet, FullMoon, inconjunct, Inconjuncts, Mercury, mercury retrograde, Moon, Pluto, Uranus, Weekend
Looking for a “wild weekend”? You will probably get your wish fulfilled this weekend. On Friday, the Moon is void from just after Midnight (Central) to just after Noon. If you live in the UK or Europe, this means that the Moon is void for the workday. If you are a new reader, you might ask what does that mean?
The traditional interpretation of a Void Moon is “nothing will come of this.” In recent years, some practitioners have noted that sometimes something very definitely DOES “come of this,” but often in a weird or unexpected way.
By itself, the Void Moon would be enough. But Mercury is practically at a standstill, the official date of the Retrograde station being January 11th. Mercury Retrograde is notorious for problems with thinking, communications, and transportation. Princess Diana died in an automobile crash when the Moon was void and Mercury was retrograde. So, be careful.
After the transit of the Moon from Gemini into Cancer, about Noon CST, a major shift in energy occurs. People you know might just want to go home and hide out. Or, since the Moon has moved into the sign where it will become full, they may be ready for a wild ride.
In fact, Friday evening is a good night to stay home with your sweetheart.
Saturday proves to be a “better” day, but remains “interesting.” If you broke your diet the other day, then you can use Saturday to get restarted (Moon Sextiles Ceres.) This may not prove easy, but if you fall down you can get a great idea (Moon Trine Uranus) from a lesson learned and re-start in earnest. The Moon is Full by 9:30 Central. After that, the Moon immediately goes void and is waning. Waning Moons favor diets.
Both Ceres and Mercury go retrograde Sunday. We have described the problems with Mercury Retrograde a number of times, so we will concentrate on Ceres, the Grain Goddess.
With Ceres retrograde, you will have to carefully scrutinize the areas of feast and famine in your life. This is not just with food; this can be an excellent time to make a budget or organize a family meeting to make a budget.
The Moon is void on Sunday until almost Noon, so any plans made during that time may be subject to revision. Make your plans anyway, because Sun Trine Saturn will favor them. (Most plans need revisions anyway.)
If you are having a family meeting, expect some disputes over these issues. Moon opposes Jupiter and is inconjunct Pluto. (Moon Opp Jupiter = “blows it out of proportion”; Moon Inconj Pluto = “power struggles that resolve into false hopes.”)
Even so, this is the time to “lance the boil.”
January 6, 2009 A Mostly Uneventful Day

The way writing astrology columns goes is that I am supposed to tell you about some dramatic event. I’ve already covered that with Jupiter moving into Aquarius on Monday and the upcoming Full Moon on Saturday followed by the Mercury Retrograde Station on Sunday.
To be sure, these are interesting times that ask us to scrutinize our thoughts, communications, and travel. But, today, TODAY (Jan 6th) is relatively quiet and uneventful. You probably know the name for this: “the calm before the storm.”
You should already be noticing glitches in your life, a bit like when Neo notices the black cat walk by and then again. Mercury Retrograde “reprograms” our “Matrix” a bit. So, as you may choose, take advantage of this brief calm period to prepare for the approaching storm.
December 12, 2008 Full Moon and Grand Cross

We saw a slightly reversed version of this energy “about” June 18th, earlier this year. If you want to understand today, and the few days before and after today (roughly Wednesday through Monday), you need to closely examine whatever you were doing “around” June 18th of that time. Of course, the key event may have occurred on the 17th or 19th, or 16th or 20th for some people. You’ll find important answers by looking at that time.
Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces will find today, and this period, to be “interesting.” For some, it will be irritating and annoying; for others they will find opportunity. The opportunity may not be entirely obvious, show you have to keep your eyes open. (The advice in the previous paragraph should be helpful.)
Mars and Uranus are interacting in such as way as to cause accidents and fights in the “low form” and intensely driven passions in innovation in the “high form.” How you use that energy is up to you. But, if you are at all a problem solver, this is your time to make things happen, particularly related to education, the courts, photography, video, poetry, or composing (music).
Mercury joined to Pluto has the potential to produce some very angry words, exacerbating the likelihood of the “low form” of the energy in the previous paragraph. But, this energy, too, can spur a “turning point.” Just be aware that your art or poetry made have a bit of an angry or energetic feel to it. Paintings & prints with dominant reds and oranges are most favored. Passionate music that speaks out against an injustice is favored for composers.
Sun and Saturn tell us that we must focus on the details. Today is NOT the day to be sloppy in your efforts. A mercury retrograde is lurking in January, so I’d wrap up key agreements and negotiations soon. After this morning, buyers are favored. A few good deals can be had in this holiday season.
This can be a very good weekend for shopping.
Full Moon of November 13, 2008
November 10, 2008 at 10:52 pm | In Astrology, Lunations, Predictions | Leave a CommentTags: FullMoon, Jupiter, lotto, luck, Neptune, obama, Pluto, Saturn, scorpio, Taurus, Uranus, Venus
If you live in the UK, then the Full Moon happens Thursday November 13th; that is also true for those on the east coast as well as those in Central Time zone in the U.S. Being in DFW, I view events from a Central Time viewpoint. This same event occurs on Wednesday the 12th for those in Pacific Time and points west.
A full moon with the Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus happens once a year, but varies in precise location (in terms of degrees) from year to year.
This year the event occurs at 21 degrees, so if your Sun, Moon, or Ascendant is there then this is an important event for you. (Example: those with Aug 14th birthdays would be affected.) Unsure if you have a 21 degree planet? Try the free chart page at AstroLabe.
For President Obama, this most affects his Mars in Virgo at 22 degrees. I’ll offer that this Full Moon is about getting things done. Obama is a Solar Leo, and things Virgo tend to be things financial for Solar Leos. Bottom line: The President Elect needs to get as many things in place regarding the financial sector as soon as possible. After the Full Moon, “things” will change.
For the rest of us, the answers are found in three additional events: (1) Sun Sextile Saturn on Tuesday; (2) Venus conjuncts Pluto then enters Capricorn; and (3) Jupiter Sextiles Uranus. I suppose I could add (4) Sun Squares Neptune.
(1) Sun Sextile Saturn on Tuesday. This day is about getting things done. You’ll feel like working, and you should. Avoid the frivilous like the plague. Not the best day for you if your work involves anything “goofy.” Clowns should stay home. Artists and Writers should use this day to catch up on finances and paperwork; all of us should.
(2) Venus Conjuncts Pluto then enters Cap. Pluto, which is ordinarily malefic without any additional influence, continues to be atop of malefic part of Sagittarius. In a sense, this extra-malefic Pluto “poisons” dear Venus. This aspect perfects about 1am Eastern, midnight Central, 5am UK.
The earlier part of the day was a good thing to get things done, but this evening is a good time to hide unless you are a criminal or a cheat. Criminals and cheats will fare quite well this evening. If you are NOT a criminal, cheat, scammer, or liar, then secure your possessions and do NOT engage in any form of business this evening. Any “offers” that come your way this evening are almost certainly scams. Straight to the trash for them.
When is it safe to act again? I’d say Saturday afternoon through “about” 10pm Central on Sunday. This weekend will be a source of some AMAZING financial deals done on the golf course, family dinner, and other close & personal private gatherings.
(3) Jupiter Sextiles Uranus. This is a BIG and long term aspect that has been in the process of perfecting for a month or three depending on your point of view. It will exert similar influence for another month or three. More than a few Taureans, Virgos, and (ESPECIALLY) Capricorns are benefiting from this; water signs also to a lesser degree.
If you bought Big Oil (Scorpio) then you placed yourself in a position to make quite a bit of money. Prices were artifically high; now, they are almost certainly artificially low.
This is a major “lotto winner” aspect, but for many the Lotto won’t be a ticket bought at a convenience store. This may be the time to get into a educational program that you thought you couldn’t enter. Or, it may be a time to enter certain kinds of business (obviously the kind that benefits from a recession). If you don’t get the job done Monday or Tuesday (or maybe Wednesday), then shoot for the Saturday / Sunday period described above.
(4) Sun Squares Neptune. All good things come to an end. Sun Squares Neptune is death to many activities and events. Neptune is associated with illness, and I’ve seen myself get a bug around this kind of aspect. This happens Thursday morning after the Full Moon (afternoon for UK), and it brings to an end everything described in 1, 2, & 3, above. Of course, #3 is very long term, so other opportunities will open. But for THIS Full Moon, the Sun Square Neptune aspect kills the ability to get things done for most of us.
Exceptions exist, of course. Some scientific researchers, if their research isn’t contaminated or spoiled under this aspect, may make breakthroughs. Actually, the BIGGEST breakthroughs maybe if the research *IS* contaminated. After all, that is how Fleming discovered Penicillin. (Penicillin mold contaminated his petri dish and killed his bacterial cultures.) Ditto for the Stickie Note. So, pay attention. That Thursday disaster may have a brilliant solution to a larger problem hidden within it.
One footnote: look for the events of this Full Moon to resurface circa July 21st of 2010.
Weak Points in Lunar Cycles
October 17, 2008 at 4:06 pm | In Editorial, Lunations, NatalChartAnalysis | Leave a CommentTags: FullMoon, gafpoints, Moon, newmoon
And, now, for something completely different.
Leaving outer planets and finances behind, one important topic is that of weak points in the lunar cycles. I’m tempted to borrow from Ancient Wayne Dyer scrolls and call them “erroneous zones.” Or, “gaf points.” Or, “FU points.” Or….
That said, what are they? They are points that the Moon crosses “about” every 28 days that are times of difficulty. Because the Moon moves so quickly, they are easily identified. (Trickier is a peek at the annual version. For example, do you get a gaf point whenever the moon inconjuncts the Sun in Leo?)
Gaf points, as I will call them, are best discovered empirically. Some are hidden, and may not be related to anything obvious. Nevertheless, if you ALWAYS have problems at 15 Taurus, then that is almost certainly a Gaf point for you.
In my experience, Gaf points are related to a particular decan of a sign. For those unfamiliar, each sign contains thirty (30) degrees of “arc” (part of a circle). Each sign, in turn, has three decan of ten (10) degrees each. My experience has been that, when the Moon is in
some particular decan, you will experience difficulties.
In practice, the Moon square or quincunx (inconjunct) certain natal planets will do the trick. Moon square natal Neptune can be downright deadly to some people. It brings confusion that can kill in a resulting automobile accident, especially if any Uranian activity is at play.
Moon square Mars and Moon square Pluto can bring problems, too. I generally dislike Moon in Capricorn. The ancients didn’t like it, either (Moon in Detriment). My experience is that it is all about delays, delays, and delays. It is a bit like a “mini Mercury Retrograde” each month.
Moon in Cap in a birth chart is difficult to interpret. Some say that can result in great leaders. Others claim it leads to sociopathic tendencies. Whatever the case, those with natal Moon in Cap process emotions a little differently from the rest of us.
Moon in the Twelfth House is particularly nasty because the bad effect appears “good.” Keep in mind that the Twelfth is associated with “self-undoing” and hidden enemies.
All of this varies from person to person. A brilliant musician with a very “Neptunian” personality may actually thrive with Moon in the Twelfth. Moon in Cap COULD be related with great leaders. (Someone please find me one. The closet I could come was martyr Rachel Corrie.)
Regardless of the outer planet activity and financial fluctuations, you need to “know thyself.” (And, “thy Gaf Points.”)
Predictions for 2008 August

General Predictions for 2008, August
1. August starts with a New Moon in Leo. The event is usually auspicious, but it is spoiled this time by a pair of inconjuncts that do not form a Yod. Namely, Mars (Planet of War) in Virgo (Sign of Healing) creates false hopes by its interactions with Chiron (Planet of Healing) in Aquarius (Sign of “The People”). Once again, this means you cannot believe what you hear at this time about War & Peace.
Virgo applies to finances and especially accounting, so be wary of someone cooking the books, particularly if a lawsuit is involved. Moon (The Feminine, and ruler of things Domestic) is in Leo (The Masculine, and also Leadership) and (1) Inconjunct Jupiter (Growth) in Capricorn (Corporations) and (2) opposite Chiron (Planet of Healing) in Aquarius (The People). More signs to be wary of whatever propaganda the Financial Sector is publishing. Privately, wait a few days (at least til Monday) to start any new ventures.
2. More Inconjuncts show overnight (Mercury to Jupiter and Moon to Uranus). Mercury’s additional inconjunct to Jupiter confirms yesterday’s suspicions re: things financial.
The Moon’s aspect to Uranus points out what might be called a “Yod by Sign.” Yods are always about decisions and the dissatisfaction that follows. In this, a decision must be made between that which is surprising & attractive and that which represents stable growth (maybe a little boring). No matter which you choose, you’ll yearn for the other.
My advice: opt for the more conservative path here. If you are given a choice between entering film school and a good MBA program, this is one time you’d better opt for the MBA. Also, this would be a good weekend for a “Independent Film” (“Art House”) to try to cross over into the mainstream. It has the potential to be a blockbuster hit.
Saturday evening, the Moon crosses from Leo into Virgo. Quiet dates are the best here, and this really sets the stage for Sunday.
3. The rules of some say to never do business on Sunday. If that’s your rule, then maybe you should make an exception. “About” 6PM EDT, will be a good time to propose some kind of business venture or career change. The Moon is still a little young, so some details may have to be worked out.
Separating influences aren’t generally good, but here you should pick a time for your proposal to “peak” sometime within the first hour after Sunset. (That’s a Jupiter-Jupiter Hour, one of the luckiest of the week.) The earlier part of Sunday is constrained, so even with three Leo planets try not to push too hard before Noon.
4. Monday is an active day involving Moon, Chiron, Neptune, and Uranus. The false hopes of Friday continue unabated, so be careful. Moon Squares Pluto just after 8PM EDT, so the business day will likely end with a power struggle. Money may pass hands in investments that aren’t the best.
Generally, however, the arts may be favored. So, this could be a good day for you if you are a photographer, writer, or other artist. You might even get funding for a pet project.
5. If we Cinco de Mayo, then why don’t we have Cinco de Agosto? I don’t know either, but Venus Trine Pluto made for a sexy night (and at least a few women (or men) being conned by their partner du jour). The rest of the day isn’t as active as Monday or Wednesday, so maybe you needed a rest.
Venus is void most of the day, another warning sign re: finances. (For some others, the issues may not be financial at all. Health issues may have popped up. If so, see a professional, but try not to make rash decisions if at all avoidable.) This is a good day to lay low or even “take off.”
6. Wednesday is full tilt again, so you better be well rested. In the early hours Mercury (communications) incojuncts Uranus (surprises in Pisces, the sign of illusions & inspiration).
So, as Jim Shawvan pens in the Daily Planetary Guide, you’ll “feel either inspired or confused.” The Sun also picks up the Inconjunct with Jupiter that the Mercury had with Jupiter on Saturday, so, again, opt for the conservative choice here. If you already did that, you can continue. If you didn’t, this may be your best chance to “jump ship.” Stop the bleeding now.
If you are “accident prone,” then this day is your worst nightmare. Stay indoors. Better yet, stay in bed.
Some artists (photographers, film-makers, writers, etc.) will receive PROFOUND inspiration today. Make certain to harness that. If you need to take the day off from the office and go home to finish your novel, then please do so. (Don’t QUIT your job; just take a day off.)
Lotto Winners: If you won Saturday or tonight: don’t be stupid with your money. This is especially important for YOU. No, and I mean NO bird-brained schemes, especially if cooked up by a relative.
Put it all in a trust designed by a trustworthy lawyer who specializes in that area, and have it benefit you and your loved ones over time. You can be trustee, but you need to invest it in a VERY conservative investment, such as Blue Chip Stocks. No more gambles.
If you are a compulsive gambler, NOW is the time to quit (if you didn’t already on Saturday).
7. Everything shifts today. Scammers can be uncovered and exposed. If you did succumb to that “great deal” then today is a good day to scrutinize it hard and investigate. Some of you may need to get the police involved.
If you are elderly and someone is trying to swindle you out of your life savings, today is THE day to stop the bleeding and call the authorities. (I don’t mean you should WAIT until today, but I do mean you need to do it TODAY if you haven’t done so already.)
Artists may come to realize, on this day, how important it was to NOT share their work earlier in the week. If you showed unfinished work, then you may be feeling some pain today as you realize, for example, someone else has stolen your idea and may be about to profit from it. Keep everything hush-hush until time to publish, show, or whatever.
Every year in Leo this Scorpio Moon represents a turning point. It is especially important to some because Leo and Scorpio (together) are the signs of royalty. Special secrets can be revealed to you today, if you have eyes to see and ears to listen.
8. The turning points of the week may culminate for some. Mars forms an Inconjunct to Neptune, tying more false hopes into Monday’s misleading promises. Please don’t continue to be taken. You can choose today, more so than other times, because the T-Square between Sun in Leo, Moon in Scorpio, and Chiron in Aquarius will MAKE the “still small voice” in your head speak.
You’ll feel compelled to act, and you should heed your conscience and prudence.
Outside of astrology, today is what some call the 8:8:8 StarGate. Opinions vary on the significance of that, but if you follow numerology then today is a very, very important day. I’ll add that the Chinese, and some other groups, consider “8” to be the most lucky or “auspicious” number. “9” is unlucky to this group; “7” and below are “incomplete.” YMMV (Your mileage may vary.)
Even among people who are total atheists (but number fanatics), postmarks on this date are a favorite (collectors’ items, of sorts).
9. This past week was all about “decision making,” and some of them were Big Decisions. Students may have contemplated last minute entry into school. (Do I work or do I go to school?) Others were tempted by “Get Rich Quick” schemes. Still others had other decisions, such as whether to follow a prudent medical course or a more risky one. (I’d only advocate the risky courses to those who have little to lose. If you have cancer, then maybe you should opt for the experimental drug this week.)
Like so many Saturdays, this is an R&R day. You might have “words” with someone about 2PM Eastern, but you’ll discover that this squabble can lead to an improved situation. Both of you will be tempted to lie and deceive, but for different reasons. The deal you strike will tend to be lasting, and it will have a “fated” quality to it. Could you have decided differently?
Effectively, after 2PM Eastern, Mercury will be void until Sunday morning. Until “about” Tuesday or so, communications may be a little confused as Mercury moves through an area known as “too early to tell.”
For those in the U.S., a brief void will hit between 5p Eastern (2p PDT) and 7p (4p). Just lay low. Moon moves into Sadge, a good time for overnight trips, working with animals (such as horseback rides), and telling each other all kinds of tall tales that may or may not be true. Unless Moon in Sadge disfavors you, this will be a good evening. (Just don’t buy any used cars.)
10. Early Sunday morning in the U.S., and by Noon in the UK, Mercury moves into Virgo. Debates exist as to whether this is good or not. Mercury “co-rules” both Gemini and Virgo in the traditional model.
Some moderns say Mercury should NOT rule Virgo. Why? Because both Gemini and Mercury are very quick; in fact both are associated with “QuickSilver.” But although Virgo has mercurial properties, it tends to be methodical and plodding.
Gemini can develop entirely plausible stories off the top of its head (hence its association with liars and thieves), but Virgo tends to move step by agonizing step. (Okay, I’ll admit, not all Virgos match “their sign.” This would be especially true of the Virgo who acts like a Leo, and (surprise, surprise!) has a four planet stellium in Leo. But, I digress.)
Whatever your opinion, this period through August 28th will be one where you’d better “cross every ‘T’ and dot every ‘I’.” The energy promotes that kind of thing, and if you don’t you’ll regret it.
Moon squares Saturn (I want to go on vacation; we CAN’T, we don’t have the money) and Sun opposes Chiron today. If you haven’t made a family budget and made medical appointments, then you should consider this.
Also, remember all those squabbles around Father’s Day and the 4th of July? They just might be revisited today….
11. Despite a surprise mid-Afternoon (on the East Coast) or about 9pm UK, today is mostly feel good and a good day to get things done. That’s especially true if you are a fire sign.
This is a Moon Trine Sun day, and you only get two of those per lunar cycle. Despite two squares, this is a VERY good day to launch short to medium term projects. Despite the energy being “fire,” I like this for certain kinds of purchases, such as watches and electronics.
This is THE day to buy a new grill or stove. Also, a good day to buy gifts. (As long as the recipient wants what you have to offer.) (Today favors the following signs (Fire & Air): Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sadge, & Aquarius)
Later tonight, avoid a squabble. (Did you buy a shotgun for your wife? Did she buy a fur coat for you?) It might seem “big” at this time, but it isn’t. You won’t remember it in a year, maybe not even in a month.
12. The energy totally shifts yet remains the same. How?
Today’s energy is even smoother than yesterday’s energy, but it tends to favor earth and water rather than fire and air. (So, today favors: Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.)
Today particularly favors Virgo & Capricorn. For most, this will be a “feel good” day, and it’s powerful energy for lasting change is easily squandered on the meaningless. But, if you really do need to take a break, then take a break.
Today will be excellent for purchase of tangible items, including homes and real estate. Not as good for gadgets, electronics, and cell phones as yesterday. Regardless of what you buy, avoid debt if at all possible. (Use cash.)
13. Yesterday’s energy continues, even stronger, but vanishes by sunset. You can get a “second bite at the apple” if you need it, but not after dark.
14. How can such WONDERFUL energy turn to mud? It is all part of the process of cycles. Okay, if you didn’t get it done, then I won’t say “I told you so.” Strike that. I DID tell you. If you deferred til today, then dump it. It wasn’t meant to be. The afternoon is void (UK = the evening is void) and “nothing will come of it.”
If you did make your purchases, or “get the job done,” or both, you might have an annoying surprise today. Here is one of the few times I’d advise you to KEEP the item. You made a legitimate purchase (as long as none of it was subsequent to last week’s inconjuncts), and you can either work out or live with the “bugs” in this case. Just let that “buyer’s remorse” pass you by. The six hour void on this date, from 1p EDT to 7p EDT, is very good for athletes, just as long as they don’t have heatstroke or some similar emergency. (That’s a real possibility here in Dallas.)
15. The Ides of Leo. Is it really? I’m not sure. But, I’ve noted over the years that August 15th tends to be a “power day.” It isn’t particularly “good” or “bad,” but disasters do tend to happen from now to the 17th. I suspect it is related to the nearing of a fixed star called “Regulus.” Think about how YOU want to use today’s energy. You will have to make a decision; you can’t avoid it. Even “not deciding” is, itself, a decision. (Abdication is invariably the WRONG decision on this date, by the way.)
The Aquarian Moon makes a series of Inconjuncts today. You’ll have to decide between being a detail oriented bureaucrat, a functionary who is determined to “establish firm boundaries” and being an innovator and person on the people who can see the big picture. I’m sad to say that you’ll be at least a little disappointed no matter which one you choose. If you are earth / water, you should opt for being detailed oriented and drawing the line. If you are fire / air, you’ll want to opt for being the visionary.
Sun Opp Neptune will mean that this will be a “low energy” day for many. Summer colds may peak. Artists may build even more profound insights based on their earlier work. Some psychics may release bold predictions that prove to be accurate. This is a good day for a movie to open.
For almost everyone, the moon is effectively full tonight. (Waxing Full.) Think about what you want to grow. I hope you’ve launched it earlier this week, because today’s inconjuncts make such a launch more difficult. Tonight is about dreaming and visualization (US & UK)
16. The moon will be full again tonight, but this time it will be waning. Today is VERY complex. For people in the UK, they get one last SUPER “launch” day before about 11pm. Not so in the U.S.; the window will have passed by today. In general, UK & Europe (overall) will be favored over US on this day. (Some days are like that.) For the US, “things” get a little ugly late at night; for the UK & Europe this same energy hits circa 8am. This is “Mars Square Pluto.” Being Mars (War & violence) Square (a squabble, disagreement, or fight) Pluto (Intelligence Agencies, Poison, Assassination, & Spys), it actually affects a period from Thursday through about Tuesday.
This could be a night where some bar fights go terribly, terribly wrong. Stay home.
17. Moon enters Pisces early morning hours US & about 9am in UK. Mars Square Pluto is in full force in both places, and the terrible fight is characterized by the confusion and (misplaced) idealism of a Piscean Moon. I think this would be a GREAT day to HIDE!
Mercury Trines Jupiter after dark in US and wee hours of Monday in UK. This COULD bring about a little healing if both parties are genuine and not still trying to undercut each other. BUT, deception is in the air again. Go slow. Take today off. And, don’t get mad in traffic.
18. Today is characterized by oppositions, but they aren’t bad ones. If you avoided the serious conflict late Saturday / early Sunday, then today is the day to take what you launched last week (US, UK, & Europe) or Saturday (UK & Europe, only) and “make it so.” Today is a “work day,” to be sure, but you can get things done. So, do it.
19. A Sun Moon Inconjunct, followed by Mars entry into Libra (a bad place for it), and Moon entering Aries (Mars Home) and opposing Mars make this an unpleasant day. If you didn’t feel the aftershocks from Mars/Pluto yesterday, then you’ll feel them today.
20. This day has “Yod” written all over it. Multiple Yods in many ways. I’ll leave it as an exercise for the reader to count how many. The point is, once again, decisions face us. REALLY BIG decisions could face us today. Whatever happened over the weekend, we have to deal with it now. And, you can’t put this one off, either.
21. Today is all about a Grand Fire Trine. Remember the last one of those? Actually, this is very similar to “The Fire Kite of Friday June 27th 2008” Remember that time? What were you doing then? What worked right for you? What did you do wrong? Same deal today, but this one is even stronger. You’ll also feel that this one seems a bit “fated,” as if you HAD to do it. Free will is always present, but sometimes moreso than others. This is one where it isn’t quite as strong. By 1pm Eastern, and 6p UK, it is all over. So, you have to “seize the day” this morning. At least that is true for fire & air signs. Also, the Sun goes void at this point.
After 3pm Eastern and 8p UK, all this shifts into another “Earth Kite” such as the one on June 28th of this year. Suddenly Earth and Water come to power. Regardless, this is the last full day of Sun in Leo this year.
22. Between 8a and 1p Eastern, some excellent opportunities arise. These are Earth Opportunities but they are attenuated a bit because the Sun went Void yesterday about 1p Eastern. Solar voids aren’t discussed as much as lunar voids, but they tend to have a similar effect. So, decide carefully whether you want to risk these “oppotunities” or not. Small risks, especially if short-term in nature, will probably work. But this is NOT a time to start large projects, especially if long-term in nature. If you must work today, then use this time to clean up the office and maybe shop for small items for the office.
23. This is the first full day in Virgo, and I see it as extra-ordinarily complex. Jim Shawvan claims an opportunity period exists between Noon & 3p Eastern. I question that because today looks so “messy.” If you are “back to school” shopping, do it in the morning (before 5p UK). After that, everything changes. Moon moves into Gemini, and a bit of conflict is at play. Today will tend to favor shoppers and disfavor sellers. Sales may be disappointing despite the fact that many will urgently need to make purchases.
The Mercury / Neptune Inconjunct this evening isn’t very good to anyone, even the artists that need Mercury / Neptune aspects. Tell your sweetheart that you really love them, but you need a little “alone time.” No anger; no fights; just “alone time.” Best use of this evening to write extensively in your journal. What has this month been like? What did you get done? How would you do it differently next month? Next year?
24. Almost all inconjuncts and squares today. Beware tricksters & thieves. You might want to write a few paper-based letters today, but don’t seal them or mail them yet. Stay away from e-mail & text, no matter how you are tempted. You need a day off from that stuff, anyway.
25. Another day of squares. You’ll feel compelled to “get things done.” You can. You probably will feel irritable as you do get things done, but you’ll feel even more irritable if you don’t.
This is a VERY good day to pay bills. Get them off your desk and gone. Make a budget for next month if you haven’t done so already. Some of you will have to buy a new cell phone today because the old one breaks or otherwise becomes unusable.
If school started for you this week, I can understand why you are irritable. Yes, most of them ARE jerks. “Things” will get better tomorrow.
26. If you are a Leo, I want to let you down by saying that you need to let someone else have the spotlight today. Mom’s and students discuss problems, and some parent-teacher meetings are held IMMEDIATELY because of yesterday’s bullying. This does need to be done. If at all possible, “nip it in the bud,” because it grows bigger or worse. (Mom’s have a LOT of power today, if they wish.)
For the rest of us, take it easy today. Fur is flying in some circles.
27. The moon activates the Yod involving Pluto (War) and Neptune / Chiron (dreams, healing). Mercury squares Pluto much later, and angry words almost cannot be avoided. In fact, they probably need to be spoken. Today is dangerous. This is the day that the bully’s drunken wife-beating father comes to school to find out “who’s picking on his son.” If you suspect this could be true AT ALL, please have the police present and ready. Put the b*stard in jail for as long as possible. Make CERTAIN that you “press charges.” And, witnesses are important. Mercury goes void later tonight.
If you are NOT directly involved with the brewing drama of the past few days, then you can have a pleasant day today. You should try to get a few things done.
28. For many people, the storm of the past few days has ended. Today feels like a “let down.” So, don’t push too hard. Today will reveal to you what you need to know. 11P Eastern (4a UK), Mercury enters Libra and “too early to tell” through the end of August.
29. Venus Squares Pluto (6a Eastern; 11a UK). Venus is void after this.
It isn’t over yet, Mom. This is a time when you need to persist. You may even need to consider resorting to the court system. If you don’t have an attorney, then you can turn to other sources, such as Legal Aid or the ACLU (or UK equivalent).
If you have just gotten out of an abusive situation, I’d recommend that you NOT contact the abuser at this time. Do remember that, because Venus is void, some things done today might have to be “re-done” later.
You need some breathing room, and you’ll find at least a few points in this day to do just that. Today is a good day to clean out and discard the old.
This is a night to visualize what you want from your life.
30. Moon enters Virgo; Venus enters Libra. Moon is VERY old, and you can do especially strong work in terms of cleaning out and throwing away up until about 4p Eastern / 9p UK. Tonight isn’t a “bad” night, but if you’ve had a tough week then you should rest. Given a choice in the matter, you should dream tonight.
31. Much has transpired lately. If you can take today off, then do so. For those who MUST work, they may find today a bit “irritable.” This is a day when criticism flows easily, much too easily.
Summer Solstice 2008

Summer Solstice 2008
If you celebrate the Solstice, chances are that you’ve already done so by the time you read this. For many in the U.S., that celebration was Thursday evening. That is probably true in the UK and Europe as well. Some of you, though, may choose to celebrate this weekend because the gathering of friends, most convenient on a weekend, is more important than gathering slightly BEFORE the event occurs. Frankly, I like that idea in this case. Why?
The reason why is that we’ve all done intense energy work all weekend long. As much as possible, this weekend should be about rest & relaxation. The Aquarian Moon will tend to help with that, and most people will find this to be a pleasant weekend. A few possible “potholes” exist; this forecast will serve to illumine them.
I know some of you want only the “high points” without detailed analysis, so we’ll do those first.
High Points of the Summer Solstice of 2008
1. Have fun this weekend. That is very possible.
2. Watch out for lying and deception this weekend.
3. Watch out for a squabble particularly about money or taxes or fines, particularly on Friday night.
4. Do NOT “loan money” this weekend. Especially watch out for cheats & cons.
5. *DO* have fun with your friends. This is another GREAT “movie weekend.” Consider a sleepover with a ‘movie marathon.’
6. This is a GREAT weekend to spend on the water, possibly at a lake. BUT, this is a very BAD weekend to mix alcohol and boating. (No good weekend for that, but this one is even worse.)
7. Homebodies can get a great deal of cleaning this weekend, and might find old photos from “the good old days” that bring a strong sense of nostalgia. Pay debt.
Now, for the rest of you, on to the “nitty gritty details.”
Analysis by Sign
Aries: You can be very strong this weekend. Watch out for overspending on that nice new toy, and definitely do not create any new debt. Like ALL other signs, don’t loan money. Otherwise, this will be a great weekend for you. Try, though, to be an observer, if you can. You’ll LEARN a bit about others if you do so.
Taurus: Read Aries. You’ll be tempted to buy items for your home, and you’ll get some great buys if (1) you already wanted them and they are NOT something you were “talked into” by the salesperson and (2) you don’t create any new debt. You might not be as thrilled by the movie as some others, but you’ll have fun anyway.
Gemini: You need a break. This was a really busy week. Just relax, and resist ANY temptation to deceive someone. You CAN deceive effectively now, but you don’t want that karma. Watch the movie with your friends.
Cancer: Hold tight to your birthday. Like Aries, you should “watch the show” that others put on for you this weekend. Do *NOT* (did I emphasize that enough?) lend money or create debt. Like Taurus, you might get a nice item for your home.
Leo: Why are you so angry? You need a good workout this weekend. Finances tend to worry you this weekend. Focus instead on the most vigorous exercise you can safely participate in; a punching bag could bring you both physical and emotional relief. Friends are okay, but watch for trickery, possibly from an entire GROUP, maybe a conspiracy of family members against you!
Some of you are starting to enter your “Solar 12th house” and are in danger of “self-undoing.” This is particularly true if your birthday is in July.
Virgo: You find yourself in the job of disciplinarian, especially if you are a parent. You’ll have the job of being the “voice of reason.” You can do this well, but secretly you want to play this weekend with the other boys & girls. Take time to recharge your batteries this weekend. You CAN take a break. Maybe you need a treat.
Libra: Read Aries. Keep in mind that your insights may be especially important to others this weekend. But, don’t offer advice unless asked. Keep your comments short & to the point. Use humor. Have fun.
Scorpio: Read Taurus & Leo. You can get some great buys; use your usual sense of prudence. Don’t beat up on people, though you’ll be tempted. If you are a police officer, then you’ll be busy this weekend. That means you’ll need to stay sober yourself.
Sagittarius: You are ordinarily a nice person, but you really need to watch your temper this weekend. Don’t go off the deep end. Instead, take some time for yourself. This does NOT mean you have to hide and be alone, but it does mean you’d better have some fun. Unlike most others, you’ll probably have a good eye for cheats. No reason you can’t turn the tables on them and have the “last laugh.” In fact, they deserve it for even thinking about taking you on. Go for it, just don’t get mad about it. Laugh instead.
Capricorn: Okay, it is a tough weekend in some ways for you. People seem frivolous and a bit unpredictable. You can still have fun, though, and you might even make a little money if that is your desire. Just make certain it is money coming in rather than money going out. (You’ll be tempted to spend.)
Aquarius: This is *YOUR* weekend. Okay, you’ll have other weekends, too. But this will be an outstanding weekend for some, make that MANY, of you. Please do play. Take nothing seriously. Refuse to believe anything anyone says, probably even including me!
Your sense of art and proportion are good this weekend, so if you are an artist of some kind then (as Captain Picard would say) “Make it so.” (But don’t incur debt for that purpose.)
Pisces: Yes, you can get your way this weekend. BUT, is it really what you want? If you succumb under pressure to some strong personality, or especially a group of them, and then cheat or deceive someone who could be your best ally, then what will you gain? Think about it. Your ally might be tired of that kind of behavior.
If you are a poker player, you might “clean up” this weekend. (No “markers,” though.)
If you channel that “creativity” of yours in the right direction, then you might have some fun without anyone getting their feelings hurt. Maybe you are the one who needs to organize “sleepover movie night,” but without any grandiose expenditures.
If you do host a party, you’ll be at the center. Do you want to be? (It is okay if you really do.)
The Planetary Players of the Weekend of the Summer Solstice of 2008
Besides the solstice, and the previous planetary events of this week (especially the Full Moon and Mercury Direct Station), three events will color this weekend: (1) Sun Opposite Pluto (which is an “after statement” to the Full Moon Energy); (2) Mars Opposite Neptune; and (3) Venus Sextile Saturn (which requires a LONG discussion). We’ll cover the first one and dispose of that, and then we’ll dive in greater depth into #2 and #3 (together). So, we have Part #1 (Sun Opposite Pluto & the Full Moon Wrapup) and we have Part #2 (Mars Opposite Neptune and the Finger of God).
Sun Opposite Pluto & the Full Moon Wrapup
The first few days of the week, tied to the Full Moon of Wednesday June 18th, will be “wrapped up” by Sun Opposite Pluto on Friday June 20th. Of course, Astrology studies cycles, and one story blends into another. But, this punctuation mark (and that is what this kind of aspect is) comes with the Solstice. Other variants will occur in a new season and be more tightly tied to newer stories to be told. So, what does it mean?
Pluto has returned to the end of Sadge, and that is the key issue here. The final degrees of any sign are said to be “fated degrees,” and these particular degrees are especially associated with deception and theft. All the negative aspects of Sadge will tend to be highlighted at this time: religious extremists, possibly terrorists, murder in the name of God, court rulings that are either wrong or unjust or both, and a sense of “playfulness” applied in very wrong ways. (Do you remember in the original “Highlander” movie where we learned that the Kurgan, and “his tribe, the Kurgans, were infamous for their cruelty, and were known to ‘toss children into pits full of starved dogs, and watch them fight [for the] meat’ for amusement.” THAT is the kind of “playfulness” associated with the END of Sadge. Not pretty.)
Now, that said, the type of PLANET in that space makes a BIG difference. In this case, the planet is PLUTO, ruler of death in general, death by assassination in particular, death by poisoning even more so, and secrets, torture, and a number of other horrible things.
Frankly, myself, I don’t like this combination of planet and place.
One big issue here will be “human rights abuses.” On a smaller scale, it will be injustice. The “mean girls” will tend to win. But, Sun OPPOSING Pltuo may mean that, in some cases, authority figures of some kind may “step in” to halt some of these problems. The Sun can’t really win against Pluto on a long term basis, so the key will be for Pluto to move direct (in a few months) and return to Capricorn. The downside to this will be a profound “belt tightening” in our economy. We’ll already had a taste of this, but it will get stronger. Your mantra should be “no debt.”
If you can’t achieve that, then it should be “no new debt.” If you are in the business of lending money, you shouldn’t take on ANY new risky loans; you can count on them deceiving you now (Pluto Rx in Sadge) and defaulting later (when Pluto returns to Capricorn).
I know some of my readers might be thieves. Yes, this is your weekend. Sigh.
Practically, as an individual, this could lead to power struggles this weekend, particularly over money. Taxes (also Pluto) may be the biggest issues of all. Count on them (taxes) showing up in political dialogs. Like new debt, new taxes should be avoided. They might seem very attractive NOW, but Pluto in Capricorn can make them very ugly later.
One other thing, this particular drama indicates that the solution to human rights abuse in other countries CAN be found in the decisions made by Corporate America (and UK and Europe). The key, of course, will be to give Corporate America “tax incentives” to do things that “encourage” foreign countries to protect human rights. (Maybe that is the approach Amnesty International should use: lobby Congress to give tax incentives to Big Corp. to protect human rights in foreign countries.)
On a small scale for certain readers (you know who you are): you know that Aunt or Uncle who saved money all of their lives and lived very conservatively? The one you never liked but now is in a GREAT position financially while you are worried about FORECLOSURE? You should NOT ask them for a bailout (and deceiving them will cause you painful karma you don’t want to have). But, you SHOULD get their insights and advice and “take your medicine” to clear out the debt & financial problems. If you don’t listen to the Dave Ramsey show, then you should consider doing so.
Like Father’s Day, if you can “avoid the fight,” you’ll probably have a pretty good weekend. But, again, some people will have terrific struggles over money and spending this weekend.
Mars Opposite Neptune and the Finger of God
At this point, I’d like to tell you some great story about Mars Opposite Neptune and how powerful that aspect is. I’d like to discuss how some commentators noted Mars/Neptune activity in the birth chart of Bill Clinton, and how they claimed that this is the REAL reason that he was “Teflon Bill.” (Monica Lewinsky proved that name wrong, though.) That’s what I’d like to tell you.
Instead, I must say that this is an extraordinarily complicated “big planet” configuration that, frankly, might be a little beyond my ability. In addition to Mars Opp Neptune, we have Venus Sextile Saturn. Venus & Saturn are another story entirely. The problem is, Venus & Saturn are NOT playing separately from Mars and Neptune. If they were, analysis would be much easier. In fact, the configuration looks like a huge “peace sign” in the sky, with Neptune “by itself” (not true, but pretend so for the moment) and Mars opposite of it as the “center leg”, with Venus and Saturn forming the right and left legs of the “peace sign.”
Now, I am NOT saying that this configuration will “bring peace.” Sun Opposite Pluto (described above) won’t let it. Actually, Neptune has both the Moon and Chiron as neighbors. All three are in Aquarius, and this metaphorically speaks to the needs and desires of “the people” for healing and dreams of hope. Last weekend we had illusions. This weekend, we HAVE to believe in a “better way,” despite the Evil of Sun Opp Pluto. Primarily Neptune (but also the other planets) form the “Finger of God” that I’ve described before (credit: Stephanie Azaria). The choice seems to be between Venus (in Cancer, the home of the Moon) and Saturn (in Virgo, the home of Mercury and sign of the Earth Mother).
I try to avoid politics, but this weekend seems to speak of how profoundly tired “the people” are of war. Sun Opp Pluto tells us we can make some terrible mistakes with wrong decisions based on poorly thought-out approaches. Regardless, we are tired of war, we are tired of being cheated, and we are tired of the no longer “playful” aspects of Gemini & Sadge. The time has come for a return to the source of our sustenance.
So, you’ll have a choice to make this weekend, and it will almost certainly affect many people around you. Given that you “handle” the power struggle “correctly,” (and this doesn’t mean that you “win” in the ordinary sense of the word), you will have to choose between being a source of sustenance and being a provider of discipline. Neither position is necessarily right or wrong. You’ll have to apply your own sense of discernment, keeping in mind that deception is afoot.
I suppose I should say that, as the weekend progresses, I might “tune” this forecast. Making it stronger will lay a foundation for the forecast for next week, probably to be published on Sunday.

Father’s Day Weekend, 2008
Friday is Friday the 13th, and you should celebrate it! Really! A fun time awaits you.
In North America, the workday is absorbed by a void moon in Libra. (UK and Europeans will only experience this in the morning of their 8a to 5p workday. If you are in UK or Europe, please adjust your times.) Officially, by consensus of most astrologers, the moon v/c is a time to “lay low.” Based on my experiences, I agree. (I wish I had recorded these experiences so that I would have at least some form of empirical data to back me up.) Other interpretations say that voids are a great time to clean out and throw away. Still others say it is a spiritual time, a time to center yourself. All of these interpretations can be simultaneously true.
Moon v/c Friday the 13th of June
Many people consider Friday the 13th to be unlucky. For most people, that simply will not be true today. The Moon v/c is considered a tough time, too, as described above. But, I’d be willing to be this void is a little different and this “Friday the 13th” is even more different. The morning will be interesting, be assured of that.
Carrying the theme from most of the week, this is a time time when the Moon, Venus, and Jupiter are “best aligned” to form a Grand Trine. This blog isn’t named “Grand Trines” by accident. This kind of thing tends to be a “fun time,” and (if you can muster the motivation) can be a time of lasting accomplishment. Void are specifically NOT associated with “lasting accomplishment”; the void is historically interpreted as “nothing will come of this.” But, I bet this void is an exception.
This is THE time to persuade people with beautiful words and beautiful images. This may be the best luck you have on any day, including Fridays 13. If you are a writer or artist, you might do some of the best work of YOUR ENTIRE LIFE this day, particularly in the morning. And, once the moon moves into Scorpio, the energy will change into a powerful sexual and romantic evening.
Evening of Friday the 13th of June and Saturday the 14th
THIS *IS* the hot “Date Night” of the summer, and maybe the year. Commitments made this evening may be overly optimistic, but both sides will feel a strong sense of commitment. Don’t go out with anyone you wouldn’t want to marry. As mentioned before, Saturday presents the beginning of a time of revisiting the previous period dating back to “about” 1990. Some spillover from Friday is inevitable, and it will be viewed in terms of this past period. If you are young, and fell for someone Friday night, this could represent a HUGE turning point for you. The rest of us might experience that, too. Others (probably including myself) may take this time to envision how they would LIKE for things to be. This is a good time to decide “who you want to be when you grow up” even if you are in your 80’s or 90’s or beyond.
Sunday Morning: Avoid the Fight
Sunday morning may face resurrection of old issues and anger surfacing. The Moon (Scorpio) activates an opposition between Mars (Leo) and Chiron (Aquarius). This could be a time of the CLASSIC argument between the young Daughter (Moon) and her Father (Mars in Leo) about that new young man. Of course, the genders aren’t set in stone, but that is the image that comes to mind. What is curious is who will be “Chiron” in this situation. Probably NOT Mom unless she is a healer (Nurse or Physician or similar). Could be a sibling, but probably will either be a grandparent or close friend of the family. Some people will drink or use drugs this weekend, and Sunday morning will be the breaking point that puts them in treatment. Sunday evening will lead to a truce of some kind that will be characterized by another void (means it won’t last) and inconjuncts (either false hopes or tough decisions).
Monday: Resolution of the Conflict
Monday brings an odd kind of resolution. Alcoholics or those mentally ill may enter the hospital without incident, if they weren’t taken by force on Sunday. Mars opposition Chiron during the night sets up some tough lessons or issues regarding healing. Some will have had accidents over this weekend, and Monday will be like waking up. A few will have had some severe accidents, and they’ll “wake up” Monday to see that the arm or leg really is gone. Others will have a court day on this day. Those who followed the path of romance will have some kind of interaction with either someone foreign or in education or possibly the court system. The key person will probably be female, and possibly a bit “Matronly.” They’ll have advice, and it’ll be tough, but it better be heeded carefully.
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
The energy of Monday continues with commentary from Mercury, Chiron, and Mars. A good day to both take action and watch your temper. What you say today makes a big difference.
Wednesday, June 18, 2008, Full Moon
Wednesday brings a culmination of the events of Monday and Tuesday. The Moon is full, and some of the young lovers will elope. If you ARE going to elope, please do so by Tuesday evening. By Wednesday afternoon, the Moon wanes and this will disfavor your new marriage. Others will be compelled to “right action,” and they will try to repair any damage that occurred over the weekend, particularly on Sunday morning. A few will want to “check out of treatment.” Family members who comply, who “enable” them, will make a mistake if they go along with this. The waxing moon will make the situation much worse. Financial sectors may receive some good news to ameliorate the bad news of the weekend and Monday. For others, the Full Moon coupled with Venus opposite Pluto will experience another highly charged, probably highly sexual, encounter this evening. The Labor and Delivery rooms will be full “about” 270 days from this date.

Wednesday after the Full Moon, and Beyond
Wednesday Afternoon: after the full moon circa Noon, the moon conjuncts Pluto and both are opposite Venus as well as the Sun. If you want to patch up things from Friday/Sunday, this is the time to do it. Once the window is past, recovery from the injury is difficult. Don’t procrastinate on this. And, be clear. Being coy or depending on innuendo will NOT be the right thing to do under these circumstances. Lay your cards on the table or walk away from the game.
This is also good day, after the full moon, to either start a diet or make the necessary preparations to get started. Pay bills with an eye to eliminating debt. Some delays in these matters may occur because Thursday June 19th Mercury “Goes Direct” Mercury changes direction on Thursday. It moves forward again, but slowly. So, starting Wednesday, try not to “push anything through.” Even with your launch on Monday or Tuesday, you shouldn’t start “pushing” until (at the very earliest) Saturday. Some time next week is probably better, as long as you aren’t trying to “grow” it. If you MUST make purchases, try to defer them until at least Saturday or the following week. Chances are that you’ll get lower prices.
Predictions by Sign from Friday June 13th through Wednesday June 18th
Key things to note for everyone: an “interesting” void Friday morning; very romantic Friday night for many; a time to either do artistic things at home or go to the movies Saturday (but NOT major purchases); Sunday: avoid the fight; Monday: a bit of difficulty left from Sunday then resolution; Tuesday: Full Moon is a good time to act for some and bad for others; Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday: lay low because MERCURY IS CHANGING DIRECTIONS and Friday is mostly void.
Aries
You’re too hot to handle Friday morning. Opposing forces make you more determined, and you SHOULD push through. Don’t sign any contracts, yet. Just know that you can get what you want. Friday night could be a little uncomfortable, despite what was said above. Saturday could prove to be an exceptionally “lucky” day for you. Sunday, try not to be involved in any spats unless you have to. But, if you are a Dad or Head of the Family, you’ll tend to win them if you are in them. Monday also favors you, but will still be a tough day, as described above. Tuesday is one of the more powerful days of the year for you. Your sun will Grand Trine the Moon and Mars. You’ll want to hang out and be lazy, but this is a day where you can really “get things done” and what you do will tend to have a lasting impact. Rest, if possible, starting Wednesday afternoon.
Taurus
Avoid “deals” that are presented Friday morning. Chances are good that they are scams.
Friday evening will be good to you, and you may be faced with an important decision. The call for romance for Taurus will be very strong now. Even if conflict emerges over the weekend, you’ll be able to get jump started the relationship with your new sweetheart on Wednesday. Try giving that new special someone a call Wednesday morning. *IF* Friday really doesn’t work out, then you may meet someone who DOES turn your head on Wednesday morning. Do make certain you are in touch by Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
Re-evaluate long term goals on Saturday. You really do need to know where you stand.
Sunday: avoid the fights iv possible. If you get drawn into them, they can become truly explosive. Monday is very weird for you. You can get certain things done, but they must involve order and organization. Avoid “fly by night” schemes and anything that smacks of “multi-level marketing.” Tuesday and Wednesday aren’t the best days for you. Avoid extravagant purchses, particularly of intangible things such as software. You’ll almost certainly be disappointed. Creation of debt is a VERY bad idea at this time. Next Thursday & Friday things are a little better for you.
Gemini
This is your time, all of it, unless you drink or drug. If you DO drink & drug, then you may have an event that FINALLY gets you sober. Try not to be physically injured in the process. Tuesday, you’ll be tempted to leave the hospital if you are in one. Don’t. If you do NOT drink & drug, then this is YOUR time. That is, this is *THE* best days of the year for you. Decide what you want, and take steps to put it in motion. As with other signs, avoid the Sunday morning altercation. Whatever you plan to launch, launch by Tuesday evening. You may not believe this, or see it, but the window to effectively launch your project, or some key piece of it (if it is already underway), will close by Noon (Dallas Time, aka “Central”) of Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will prove disastrous for your Big Launch. Do it by Tuesday, or not at all. Also, if you have NOT had your birthday by Monday, you should wait until next week at the earliest. Some of you, those who have not yet had your birthday, may be tempted by a project you should NOT take on. But, if you’ve had your birthday this year, then DO IT NOW! Also: you need to read Sagittarius, below.
Cancer
Where do I begin? You are probably in your twelve house. Not many things favor you at this time, so YOU should AVOID action. Planning and visualization should be your strategy. Let others play out their dramas, and don’t intervene unless you must. This is a good time for some of you to get sober. Others will have to help family members, but avoid “enabling” them. If you DO meet the “love of your life” at this time, avoid major commitments until your birthday.
If you are female, DEFINITELY avoid becoming pregnant, or risky sex of any kind, at this time. You WILL be tempted by someone, count on it! If it isn’t risky sex, then avoid other temptations of the “Traveling Salesman.” Also: plesae read Capricorn. Some of that will apply to you as well.
Try to avoid the fight Sunday. I think you can stay out of it unless you are either the Father or the “Head of Household.” If you must join, then KNOW where you stand. You’ll know by doing what the other signs should do as well: think about your hopes and dreams on Saturday and reduce them to written words on paper.
Okay, that all sounds a bit too “gloom and doom.” Venus will move in to support you starting Wednesday. She’s very much “in your corner,” but what does that mean? Maybe you’ll have support from a woman who enters your life, possible a rather beautiful lady. If you are a single guy, this new person may be what has been missing in your life. If you are a lady, this new woman may be the Fairy Godmother who transforms you into a princess. Others will receive financial support; still others will find that either a Taurus or Libra moves into to help (especially a Taurus, but possibly a Libra). Expect help in terms of love or money or both. Could also be in the form of improved health. You might actually find advantage during the difficult period of the Mercury Direct Station.
So, keep you chin up. Things will improve.
Leo
This is a good time for you, with the caveats described above. Remember, YOUR solar 12th house will apply some time on or after June 21st until the time of your birthday. So, avoid making commitments NOW that require completion THEN. Taking a course in summer school might be okay, especially if it involves writing, art or poety. Computer programming & web design (especially web design) might work for some of you. As mentioned, avoid the fight Sunday morning if you can. Some of you will not be able to avoid it, and you’ll find yourself getting far more angry than you should. If that happens, you may need to exit and “blow off steam” in some safe place (probably devoid of other people). Don’t do anything rash at this time. As with Gemini, Monday and Tuesday are “power days” for you. Just remember to avoid starting something now that completes between the period delineated by your birthday and a month before your birthday. But, Monday and Tuesday ARE “power days” for you.
Virgo
You look a LOT like Taurus. (Read Taurus). Friday night is particularly good for you. The Scorpio Moon will favor you, or lead you to appropriately favor or support someone, and the Gemini Sun will stir you to action. This is a good time to help others, if you are so inclined. If you are a paramedic, then you’ll be busy tonight. As described above, Saturday is a time of reflection for you, but useful things can be done, too. As with others, this is a good time for a movie, but not a good time for major purchases. Take WRITTEN notes on any ideas that come to you Friday/Saturday. You’ll need them Monday & Tuesday. Like everyone else, avoid the fight Sunday morning. You’ll be tempted to take the side of the “Leo figure” (maybe an acutal Leo, but for sure the Father, Head of Family) as they are a sort of natural ally to them. The argument of the Scorpio (maybe the daughter or mother, particularly if they are normally a quiet person) will be appealing to you, and you may not be able to avoid contributing to their side of the argument. You’ll have to pick one side, but be careful about alienating the “Leo figure.” The Chironic person (friend of the family, physician) will confuse you, unless you yourself are that Chironic person (and you are a very good candidate for that job. Do you want it?) Monday & Tuesday will tend to stir you to action but be frustrating. Keep in mind what happened Friday & Saturday. Your written notes from those days will guide you.
Libra
You’d like to have everybody get along, but you may not be able to avoid the temptation to take advantage of the situations (and dramas) that will come to pass in this period. Be careful Friday morning. You can make BRILLIANT presentations, but you should be careful regarding any changes to the script. DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THE PLAN, whatever it is. Otherwise, you’ll do GREAT Friday morning. A good time for the artists & writers among you. The rest of the time, you are “everyman.” This is one weekend where you can play just about any role you want to; choose wisely. Avoid the Sunday morning fight if possible (read the other predictions). If you *DO* get involved, your strongest choice will be to support, or BE, the “Leo figure” (read Virgo, above). Unlike Virgo, you can do quite a bit of damage to the Scorpio, if that is your intent. You can also do a lot of damage if it is NOT your intent, so be careful. Monday and Tuesday: read Gemini and Leo. This is a power time for you, too. Lay low Wednesday and Thursday.
Scorpio
If you are like many scorpios, you’ve read the other signs to see what they are up to. You are educated now. You know that Friday night will provide you with POWERFUL experiences. They’ll PROBABLY be “positive,” but they DEFINITELY will be powerful. You probably CANNOT avoid the fight Sunday morning, but that is okay for most of you because most of you tend to fight anyway. Just realize that the odds are not with you in this battle, unless it is about you “falling in love” or going on a date Friday night. If so, stand your ground. You might lose this battle and yet win the war. You MUST know if what you want is really worth it. That means you need to have DEEPLY thought about it, and maybe written about it, on Saturday. If you anticipate the battle, you may fare much better. You might even “win” if the others are unprepared. Monday is hard, but it might favor you. Monday and Tuesday aren’t easy days for you, but they COULD bring you financial gain. They can bring loss, too, so avoid spending & credit cards. Avoid any significant action the rest of the week, though you’ll be tempted to action. One exception, you might get a rather good price on something Thursday or Friday Definitely do not buy it if it involves (a) communications (cell phone, radio, television, walkie-talkie) or (b) transportation (automobile, tractor-trailer, boat, or airplane). Definitley NOT a day to buy a yacht or corporate jet. And, remember, Friday is mostly void. (Usually only good for meditation and “centering” yourself.)
Sag
You win. This is your time. (See, also: Gemini) If you are in conflict with a Gemini, though, I’m not sure who wins. So, if posiible, make that Gemini your ally, not your opponent. For Friday morning: Read Libra. It is EXACTLY the same for you. You could sell the proverbial rerigerator to the proverbial Eskimo. (If you don’t know that saying, then Google it. Worth your time.) Unlike Libra, and everyone else for that matter, YOU “might” (remember MIGHT) could improvise Friday morning. Others would be wise to NOT permit you to do this. But, if they aren’t paying attention, you can get away with it. (I hope you are NOT scamming someone.) Friday is a hot “Date Night,” but if that someone is a NEW someone, you might fall for someone who is not “very good for you.” Or, they’ll be an artist or poety or inspire your poetry. (Not just the “poetry in your soul,” but literal poetry or videography (YouTube?) or photography or writing or painting or….) Saturday is like everybody else: introspection and journaling and deciding what you want. Seeing a movie with a friend is good Satruday, too. Sunday: Can you guess? Yep, like everyone else: avoid the fight. Perhaps more than everyone else, you’ll find the fight very disappointing. If you are watching the drama from the sidelines, you’ll just tend to “shake your head.” You’ll think “Why do they keep playing that drama?” You won’t be able to do anything about it. Monday might involve some cleanup, literal or figurative or both, from the weekend. For both Monday and Tuesday: read Gemini. This is YOUR time of the year, too. You’ll get other windows, particularly near your birthday, but for now this is it. Also like everyone else: avoid overeating and overspending. Lay low on Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday if possible.
Capricorn
Most of you will want to watch the drama rather than participate. You are bit like Libra and Taurus, but you are unique (unlike Gemini & Sag, who are JUST LIKE EACH OTHER at this time). Watch out for someone trying to “hornswaggle you” (as we say here in Texas) on Friday morning. I suspect this person might be a Libra or Sagittarius. If you are a Farmer’s Daughter, *DO* avoid the “Traveling Salesmen” of this period. Friday night will be a fun date, to be sure, but make no committments or any “risky activities” (sex, especially). *IF* you are the “teenaged daughter” in the Sunday morning drama, then this could be a very hard weekend for you. *DO* journal on Saturday and *DO NOT* buy ANYthing Saturday unless it is artistic in nature (and, maybe not even then). Go to a movie with your friends. Get perspective. Sunday: avoid the fight. *IF* you are the mother or daugher (or caregiver), you may see a side of you emerge that no one, including yourself, has seen before. You’ll look a *LOT* like Scorpio in this case (read Scorpio). *IF* you are the Father or Head of Family, you might drop into the “Leo Figure” role, but you’ll find it uncomfortable. You’ll probably secretly wish you could be the rebellious teenager instead of the dispenser of discipline. BUT, *NO ONE* (not even a Scorpio) can dispense discipline like a Capricorn, (Well, maybe a Virgo, sometimes.) Monday and Tuesday will provide career or business boosts to you, although they’ll feel a bit uncomfortable. You’ll be HIGHLY TEMPTED to wait till Wednesday, which feels and looks more comfortable. But, *IF* you are going to make something GROW, make it happen either Monday or (better yet) Tuesday. If you must make a significant purchase, though, defer it until the last weekend of the month. Some of you will be in a bit of a bind, because the purchase and the business decision will be linked. Just know that you’ll get a better by waiting til the end of the month.
Aquarius
Read Gemini, Libra, and Sag. Read Leo, too. You can be persuasive Friday morning, but probably not to a Capricorn. Not the best time for a “Board Meeting” for you UNLESS you are presenting WITHOUT having the Board Members “take a vote.” This prediction also applies to the “Tech Sector” of Wall Sreet. Information, research, and presentations, but no buy/sell action. Financial markets in London could be a “little weird” at this time. Certainly some of you will find love Friday evening, as with others. Some of you, though, will spend time with friends and have a few annoyances. Given a choice, this is a much better “Date Night” than “Out with the Friends” night. Some of you may feel the Retrograde of Pluto into Sadge more than others. Again, Tech Sector corporations will look HARD at the past twenty years and decide who they want to be for the next twenty. A big shift to Apple is happening (the artistic side of Friday and Saturday), and don’t be surprised if you see an announcement from Apple Friday, Saturday or Monday. In the alternative, some major corporation(s) may announce intiatives to put Macintoshes on the desktops of their employees. If you aren’t a big corporation, refrain from shopping Saturday and list your hopes and dreams on paper. If you’ve read the other predictions, you know a big fight is coming Sunday morning. You’ll tend to be conveniently on the sidelines, and (unless you are a healthcare professional and this is NOT involving your friends or family), that is where you should probably stay. Some of you will not be able to resist. A few may be wounded (even literally!) as “collateral damage.” This applies to police officers answering domestic disputes at this time. (Be careful if you are a Police Officer.) If you CANNOT resist the fight, remember your job there is to HELP and TEACH. Don’t write any prescriptions unless you have the legal authority to do so. Monday and Tuesday are good to you; this is a Window for you similar to Gemini and Sadge (but stronger for them). A smart strategy would be to let a Gemini or Sadge “run point” and you be the SUPPORT SYSTEM. You’ll be stronger in this role, and you’ll be less likely to “take damage” (as the teenage gamers say) later. ESPECIALLY YOU: Lay low Wednesday and Thursday and Friday. More than other signs, you can expect power outages. Clean house. Take pictures. Avoid commitment, but you might get a spectacular price on something. Do you really need it? (NOT if it is “on credit.”)
Pisces
Sadge and Gemini have you at a disadvantage, so avoid “taking them on” directly, if at all. Of course, if you have a fair amount of Sadge or Gemini in your chart, you might be able to charge ahead. Friday morning isn’t so great for you. You might even THINK that you are scamming someone, but they’ll be getting you. If you are a con-artist, expect a “sting” from the Police. Pisces is, among other things, about illusions. Today, you’ll be on the wrong end of the stick as far as these go, so just give it up. Pisces is also good at hiding, so hide. That’ll be your strong point at this time. Friday night is MUCH better for you, In fact, so it the rest of the weekend. Like Libra, you become “Everyman” and can play ANY role you want. So, I offer the same advice: CHOOSE WISELY. I’d say avoid the fight, but if you cannot then the Scorpio role is best for you. Based on astrology, I’d say that anyone concerned with terrorists should check the sewers at this time. The Pisces in your security group will be especially gifted at finding the problem this morning. Like Capricorn, if you are drawn into the fight, then you’ll find a Tiger within yourself that you did not know was there. If you are the teenaged daughter, or mother, then Dad may be in trouble. You could win, but probably by your typical indirect strategies of undermining his/their authority. If domestic abouse is present, the abuser will likely be sent to jail if you are present. (Don’t be the abuser, of course.) The Full Moon Monday and Tuesday is a lot like Virgo for you. You may be stirred to action Monday, and surprise those who would take away your freedom from you. BUT, if you are in the hospital, don’t leave. More than anyone else, you’ll both be tempted AND have the ability to do so. Do NOT do that. If you do, you’ll lose your REAL freedom, which is coming to you now through the healing. Better buys are to be had on Thursday and Friday. Next predictions will be (probably) posted on or about Wednesday June 18th or Thursday June 19th.
Blue Moons in Taurus, 2008

Stephie Azaria, who I met “IRL” at UAC ‘98, publishes “The Cosmic Path.” On May 19th, she wrote about the second full moon in Taurus this year. Just in case you don’t know, a second full moon in the same astrological sign doesn’t happen often. I refer to such a special full moon as a “Blue Moon.” The popular notion is that a “Blue Moon” is based on the calendar, and that an astrological “Blue Moon” is some kind of special exception.
I differ.
To be sure, some debate exists about this. Stephie went with the “traditional” notion that a “Blue Moon” must be based on our calendar. That’s fine, except that the calendar was originally based on the twelve signs. (She knows this, and she indicated that she felt a little uncertain about using the popular definition.)
If you know the history of the modern western calendar, then you know that it basically originated with the Romans and originally had ten months. (That’s why DECember is based on Latin for ten, NOVember for nine, OCTober for eight….) (What two months were added? July = Julius Caesar, and August, for Caesar Augustus.)
The calendar drifted out of alignment, and several variations on “Leap Years” were developed to fix the problem. Still, it is about twenty days out of alignment, with the Vernal Equinox being on March 21st (roughly) instead of March 1st (where it was originally). (MARs = MARch, and Spring was thought to begin with the energy of Mars.)
My point? Well, *IF* the calendar was correctly aligned, then a (Calendar) “Blue Moon” and a “Astrological Blue Moon” would be the SAME THING.
The “Astrological Blue Moon” is not properly the “exception” unless you capitulate to the notions of the masses who don’t understand the history.
