March 29, 2009: Pluto Dominates

dallas-sunrise-2009-mar-29-9th-pluto1Please do not get your hopes up that I will post any more than once or twice a week (at most).  But, the mood hit me, and I thought I would do Sunrise on Sunday here in Dallas. (aka “The DFW Metroplex,” or just “The Metroplex”)

I pick the Metroplex for no other reason than “that is where I am located.”  Generally, Sunday is characterized by squares.  We know this already (if you read the Daily Planetary Guide), but this chart highlights power struggles and issues between the Moon in the 2nd House (money, finances, sometimes health) and Pluto dominant in the 9th House (Long distance travel, foreign relations, court battles, and higher education).  Here are some of the dramas I expect to be “heightened” today.

Custody battles have a way of erupting on Sunday evenings.  This one will be particularly delicate.  Seek diplomacy if possible.  Otherwise, be prepared to pay the lawyers again.

College students (higher education) may have to face their inquisitive parents about their grades and “how they are doing” this semester.  Spring break is over for most (if not all), and the time is at hand to pass or fail (or whatever the goal may be).

On the political scene, this weekend is a bit fragile in general.  This chart confirms that.

The Moon squares Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune.  Moon Square Jupiter is one of the two “spendthrift” aspects (the other being Sun Square Jupiter).  Overspending and overeating are notorious here.  Chiron signals the involvement of a mentor relationship (not usually parental but possibly) and Moon Square Neptune is all about deceit in many cases.  Do not be surprised if you lie or are lied to.  Armed with this knowledge, you can decide how you wish to handle the deceit.

Weekend of March 28, 2009 Remember those New Year’s Resolutions?

Chart for intiation of the process of writing predictions for the weekend starting Friday March 27th of 2009

Chart for intiation of the process of writing predictions for the weekend starting Friday March 27th of 2009

Although the astrology makes sense, I still do not fully understand why it is the way it is. What I mean is that some of you, perhaps many of you, will find that this weekend will lead you to reconsider the New Year’s resolutions that you made and either kept or broke back in January and February.

I include the above chart for the “Ketarke” of this.  Note that Saturn is in the 1st and Ascendant is near a sign change boundary.  This implies that I will miss something important, and possibly I may miss something very big.  Maybe I am focused on diet and weight loss when, in fact, some huge change happens somewhere else (such as in the Financial Markets).

Well, if it says I “can’t” predict it, then I won’t.

For many of you this weekend is about diet and more than a few of you are wrestling with debt. You may have to struggle with both, perhaps doing well with one but not the the other. Maybe none of it is working.

I know of at least one person who will be struggling with clearing of clutter and house cleaning in a major way this weekend.  That, too, can be represented by the configuration.  Just be careful not to end up with MORE clutter.  (You go to the garage sale to release your “stuff” and buy more than you delivered.)

Regardless….

You’ll reach a decision this weekend: blow it all on a big splurge or be more modest. I am not saying that you must be so strictured that you explode because that will not work either. But, this weekend is about making the changes necessary to be modest and practical in your dining and expenditures.

And a few of you, a very special few, will have given up altogether only to see glimmer of a new hope this weekend. For you, this is your chance to restart your life in terms of possessions and tangible things. You will need to be VERY modest, but you can, once again, have hope.

Regardless of who you are, you’ll need to have a heart to heart with that special someone on Saturday.

Just when you have things lined up, you will encounter challenges on Sunday. Squabbles will tend to break out. Use this energy, instead, for sculpture or writing of poetry or at least making home movies about happy times.

This is for you Ms. Marmite: this is THE weekend to emphasize to your customers the quality of your food, the nutrition, and the value. Oddly, this is a logical turning point in relation to my February 3rd post for you specifically.

A few of you may wonder where I am deriving this analysis from. I have included another chart showing entry of Moon into Taurus and its relationship (grand trine) to Pluto and Ceres. Note, also, how precisely Mercury is opposite the Part of Fortune (Fortuna) here. Especially for those who are “early risers” (or those who are sufficiently inspired that they choose to rise early this day), this will be a time of “luck” for dealing with those “broken” New Year’s resolutions regarding diet, “getting in shape,” money, and tangible physical items.

Weekend of January 30th Dominated by Mercury Direct Station

What eclipses this weekend (sorry), is the Mercury Direct station. This this station follows so closely after the eclipse is even more of a sign of changes to come.

For many of us, personally, this presents another major turning point in the diet issue. Will we feast or will we famine? If you are fighting this issue, this weekend is an important milestone. You will especially find Saturday frustrating, as your plans to stay on track are upset by Mercury changing directions. As I have written before, keep in mind that if you fall down you can get back up.

But even if you are not fighting the diet fight, you will feel the shift in other ways.

Friday morning starts slowly, but the day becomes more “lively” with a possible power struggle or financial issue in the afternoon.

Friday has a quiet Piscean period which includes a void from about 3am Dallas time (6am UK) until the Moon enters Aries after 9am. Aries Moons tend to bring about activity. And this Moon squares Pluto early, as early Aries Moons will do for the next few years.

Plutonic activity often signifies concerns over taxes. (It is that time of year again, isn’t it?) This can be a sign of other disputes, or perhaps intense sexual activity. By itself, it is not a major aspect, but following so closely after an eclipse it can signify that you will see a major turning point in your life this afternoon. Keep your eyes open.

The day ends pleasantly enough with an aspect to Jupiter.

Saturday is the peak day in the diet battle, and Saturday also brings to fore issues with with “will” and the intensity needed to get things done. This is embodied in a “finger of God” that has Ceres (food) and Saturn (structure, willpower) at the focal point, and the Moon in Aries at one fork and five planets in Aquarius at the other fork.

The five planets in Aquarius speaks to use tending to decide to do “what the group wants to do.” If you have a support group, this is a good time to attend activities. Go to OA if you attend that, or an extra Weight Watchers if you attend that.

For many of us, we see a drama that includes three different groups: (1) a group of people, possibly five or more, who advocate THEIR viewpoint; (2) an authority figure and possibly a “young lady” (who could be engaged to marry); and (3) a lone, but exteremly strong, female. When we think of this “lone female” think of Diana the Warrior.

I cannot say who will win this battle of wills, but I can say that the drama will be a lively one. Enjoy!

A shift in energy happens this weekend, and you will feel it. These days should be clustered together because this is one weekend that will “spill over” into next week.

Saturday the Moon is still in Capricorn, as Friday, and Financial Markets will somehow feel this. Mars Trines Saturn, which brings a sort of “closure” the the Mars Sextile Uranus of Thursday.

Innovative ideas may be squashed in favor of the status quo. We may hear some kind of government pronouncement about the military, but it will favor keeping the status quo rather than “change.” (Saturn (status quo) is the last to whisper in the ear of Mars (military, police, violence, violent criminals).

Meanwhile, Venus has aligned to favor Uranus (women, as a group, may find that they are VERY bored with the status quo), and Mars is “forced” to communicate with Venus. Some military / police officers may find themselves locked out of their homes by their wives or daughters.

The Moon, the other major feminine planet, speaks to everyone this day, but Venus has the the last word. This could indicate a mother / daughter alliance in a family (or other) dispute.

The VERY last word in this drama, though, belongs to the children (and the communicators) who can point at the supposed authority figure and say “he did it.” (Think of the final few scenes of the movie “Witness.”)

The Moon leaves all this behind as it enters a void and then Aquarius about 1am in Dallas (7am in UK). The Moon then conjoins Jupiter followed with a conjunction with the Sun which produces a Solar Eclipse. (You should read the Friday discussion of Jupiter’s influence). This Eclipse will be particularly life-changing for some people because of the intense Jupiter involvement. Higher education, travel (and diplomacy), and the courts will become particularly pronounced for some people, and, in fact, the population of the world will feel it.

Mercury (retrograde, in Capricorn) speaks to Mars Monday (either great Romance or terrible fights). Whatever happens this day, expect to “revisit” it on March 1st (when Mercury and Mars will meet again, but this time in Aquarius with Mercury forward motion).

All of this Mercury / Venus / Mars drama (which can be children, mother, father) is tied into the eclipse. For some, this means father accepts a new job or carreer which carries him far away. (We know this about military and Iraq, but this could be something a bit new or different.)

This, by itself, would be enough, but Tuesday the Moon predictably pulls Chiron (teachers, healers, healthcare, old wounds) into the fray as well as Neptune ( poetry, music, illness, alcohol & drugs, sometime “con-artists”). Illness will clearly be an issue, and we might see a significant “uptick” in the incidence and prevalence of the current strain.

If the Mars / violence issues involved a family alcoholic or drug addict, then Tuesday can be the turning point. I cannot say exactly WHAT KIND of turning point, but a turning point. For some, it will be devastating (possibly suicide). Others will get help and finally become “clean and sober.”

Energies shift again Wednesday, but that is a topic for another post.

January 9, 10, & 11: A Rather Wild Weekend

Looking for a “wild weekend”?  You will probably get your wish fulfilled this weekend.  On Friday, the Moon is void from just after Midnight (Central) to just after Noon.  If you live in the UK or Europe, this means that the Moon is void for the workday.  If you are a new reader, you might ask what does that mean?

The traditional interpretation of a Void Moon is “nothing will come of this.”  In recent years, some practitioners have noted that sometimes something very definitely DOES “come of this,” but often in a weird or unexpected way.

By itself, the Void Moon would be enough.  But Mercury is practically at a standstill, the official date of the Retrograde station being January 11th.  Mercury Retrograde is notorious for problems with thinking, communications, and transportation.  Princess Diana died in an automobile crash when the Moon was void and Mercury was retrograde.  So, be careful.

After the transit of the Moon from Gemini into Cancer, about Noon CST, a major shift in energy occurs.  People you know might just want to go home and hide out.  Or, since the Moon has moved into the sign where it will become full, they may be ready for a wild ride.

In fact, Friday evening is a good night to stay home with your sweetheart.

Saturday proves to be a “better” day, but remains “interesting.”  If you broke your diet the other day, then you can use Saturday to get restarted (Moon Sextiles Ceres.)  This may not prove easy, but if you fall down you can get a great idea (Moon Trine Uranus) from a lesson learned and re-start in earnest.  The Moon is Full by 9:30 Central.  After that, the Moon immediately goes void and is waning. Waning Moons favor diets.

Both Ceres and Mercury go retrograde Sunday.  We have described the problems with Mercury Retrograde a number of times, so we will concentrate on Ceres, the Grain Goddess.

With Ceres retrograde, you will have to carefully scrutinize the areas of feast and famine in your life.  This is not just with food; this can be an excellent time to make a budget or organize a family meeting to make a budget.

The Moon is void on Sunday until almost Noon, so any plans made during that time may be subject to revision.  Make your plans anyway, because Sun Trine Saturn will favor them.  (Most plans need revisions anyway.)

If you are having a family meeting, expect some disputes over these issues. Moon opposes Jupiter and is inconjunct Pluto. (Moon Opp Jupiter = “blows it out of proportion”; Moon Inconj Pluto = “power struggles that resolve into false hopes.”)

Even so, this is the time to “lance the boil.”

December 21, 2008 Winters Solstice

By the time you read this, you wil have likely passed through the longest night of the year. This one was longer than usual, emphasizing its power.

Ancients viewed this night as a time of great evil. Later, the event was reframed as the birth of the Sun (dawn) occured after the event of the Solstice. The Sun will actually rise before the PRECISE point of the Solstice in the UK & Europe, but most of the US (except the East Coast) will experience the sunrise after the Solstice.

Okay, what does that mean? For some of us, in the U.S., Sunday will be a powerful day; however, this particular power will not be felt until Monday for the UK & Europe.

This power is the power of rebirth. Some believe that ALL resurrection myths arose from the reframing of the “long night” into the (re-)birth of the Sun. From this point, until the Summer Solstice, the Sun grows in power.

This power is usually not obvious until after the Spring Equinox. This, this dawning, and Winter, is a time to recognize hidden sources of power and how a seed grows roots before it breaks the surface as a sprout.

That is the proper use of this power. By 7PM EST (midnight in the UK) the Moon has moved into Scorpio, and THAT further indicates the power of hidden growth.

Take a moment to look at forgotten projects. Clean out the garage or messy closet and find the lost object that will help you resurrect a project that helps you find freedom, joy, comfort, or whatever is your heart’s true desire.

The only “weakness” of this day may be a temptation to make unnecessary expenditures. Temper you judgment with the wisdom available to you today.

December 18 & 19, 2008 More Challenges Before the Solstice Arrives

Thursday represents another day of “challenges” with the Moon conjoining Saturn and Opposing Uranus to make us re-examine the events of the recent full moon. Last Friday and this past Monday have something to contribute to the events of today, and we are not at all comfortable with it. More inconjuncts contribute to a notion that problems are resolved when they are not. Best to get some rest Thursday night.

Friday “looks” quiet which tells me that “other” things may be happening. Friday could be described as a “fated” day in which people will either have little control or feel as if they have little control. Sun is semi-square Venus, Chiron, and the North Node. Today is a harbinger of the Sun/Pluto conjunction Monday and the Venus / Chiron conjunction of Tuesday.

In practical terms, I’d treat this day as if it were void. That is, I might plan and plot, but I would be hesitant to execute.  Take note, though, of circumstances that occur and are beyond your control.  They may be important omens about your personal situation.

The Sun, Mars, and Pluto tell us that a major power struggle is “coming to a head.” Venus and Chiron tells us that “healing time” is badly needed. As I have mentioned on other occasions, this date is associated with deception.

A good use of this time, both practically and metaphorically, is to clean up and clean out. Moon moves into last quarter, and this is a time to discard the unwanted and unneeded to make way for the gifts that the Solstice and Winter will bring us.

December 14, 2008 Finger of God Points Out Weak Points

Saturday December 13th the Moon shifted into Cancer, its home, the Full Moon energy terminated with the shift into a new sign, and one of Jim Shawvan’s Opportunity Periods began. This one continues until about 5:30 pm, EST, on the 14th.

A number of things happen today, but the big one is the Finger of God in the “clumsy” signs. I’m not sure which astrologer wrote it, but years ago I read that Cancer, Sadge, and Aquarius are the “clumsy” signs. People with planets in these signs, especially in several of them, are supposedly prone to gafs.

That said, in this specific group of signs, a Finger of God forms today, with Moon (in Cancer) inconjunct Sun (in Sagittarius) and Neptune (in Aquarius). The lunar opposition to Jupiter joins into this group to create what I call a “peace sign in the sky.”

My interpretation is that this grouping will lead all of us to explore points of weakness, points where we stumble, and find answers in spirituality. (The two spirituality planets are Jupiter & Neptune; both are involved here.)

So, do note that some excellent shopping opportunities continue, but be aware that you might somehow stumble today. That isn’t bad, because you have the opportunity to (probably safely) learn an important lesson.

Regardless, get done what you can.  Monday isn’t a very forgiving day.

We saw a slightly reversed version of this energy “about” June 18th, earlier this year.  If you want to understand today, and the few days before and after today (roughly Wednesday through Monday), you need to closely examine whatever you were doing “around” June 18th of that time.  Of course, the key event may have occurred on the 17th or 19th, or 16th or 20th for some people.  You’ll find important answers by looking at that time.

Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces will find today, and this period, to be “interesting.”  For some, it will be irritating and annoying; for others they will find opportunity.  The opportunity may not be entirely obvious, show you have to keep your eyes open.  (The advice in the previous paragraph should be helpful.)

Mars and Uranus are interacting in such as way as to cause accidents and fights in the “low form” and intensely driven passions in innovation in the “high form.”  How you use that energy is up to you.  But, if you are at all a problem solver, this is your time to make things happen, particularly related to education, the courts, photography, video, poetry, or composing (music).

Mercury joined to Pluto has the potential to produce some very angry words, exacerbating the likelihood of the “low form” of the energy in the previous paragraph.  But, this energy, too, can spur a “turning point.”  Just be aware that your art or poetry made have a bit of an angry or energetic feel to it.  Paintings & prints with dominant reds and oranges are most favored.  Passionate music that speaks out against an injustice is favored for composers.

Sun and Saturn tell us that we must focus on the details.  Today is NOT the day to be sloppy in your efforts.  A mercury retrograde is lurking in January, so I’d wrap up key agreements and negotiations soon.   After this morning, buyers are favored.  A few good deals can be had in this holiday season.

This can be a very good weekend for shopping.

Usually, in astrology, especially with the techniques I use, we speak of difficulty.

Although difficulty abounds, at this time you will encounter one of the greatest opportunities of your life.  If it involves “easy money,” then shy away from it.  That isn’t it.  But, if it might involve some work, take a look.  Hard work is even better.  This window is open though, roughly, November 30th.  Then, it closes.
